Teal (Rogers) Belz was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. From a family of outdoor enthusiasts, she participated in the Fairbanks Alpine Ski Team during winter along with North Star Ballet in the fall. Teal graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Minor in Business Administration. At UAF, she was introduced to Aerial Arts while climbing at the rock gym. She continued to pursue Aerial Arts after college and soon after opened up Golden Heart Performing Arts, an Aerial and Acrobatic Arts studio. Her passion kept growing as she received certifications through Registered Yoga Teacher Training (RYTT) in Indonesia, AIR Aerial Yoga, Buti Yoga, Acrobatic Arts and CircuiT-Rx. As Teal grew into a Performing Artist and Educator, she became an Artist in Residence for the FNSB School District, working with students across the Interior of Alaska. This helped her expand her teaching experience and move Golden Heart Performing Arts into a larger location in Spring of 2020-right before the pandemic hit. "Sisu," is a good word to describe Teal. The Finnish word that combines perseverance, courage, bravery and determination to act against all odds and transform barriers into opportunities. She is never sitting still. She is always looking into the future of what she can inspire in our community.
