This past weekend, we got the chance to experience a life changing and eye opening event. The NEA (National Endowment of the Arts) honored Ramon “Chunky” Sanchez, Ralph Burns, Veronica Castillo, Seamus Connolly, Carol Fran, David Ivey, Nicolae Feraru, Pauline Hillaire and Shelia Kay Adams. All of these individuals have contributed so much to the arts and put on a wonderful display of talent. Ramon “Chunky” Sanchez and his family are very close to us and he was a big influence on the civil rights for Mexican Americans and all people in our country. He was very close to Cesar Chavez and despite the struggle that he went through he always stayed true to the arts and his community. This show is a MUST listen, especially for upcoming artists because it will give them encouragement, along with some advice on dedication, staying true to themselves and to the arts.
