This special St. Patrick's Day programme features stripped-back, unplugged performances from some of Ireland’s top artists, recorded and mixed by Dylan Connolly. It includes an exclusive interview and live session with The Rosecaps, along with a backstage deep dive with Leo Moran of The Saw Doctors as he discusses the band's resurgence.

The Galway Bay fm Christmas Messages Programme, which features Galway's civic and religious leaders, has been running continuously for the last thirty six Christmasses, and is now a festive fixture in Galway's cultural calendar.   Presented by Head of News Bernadette Prendergast, it is a chance to reflect on the year gone by and to hear, in a different way, from the people who represent so many of you across the city and county. They will also share their Christmas memories, with a few funny tales along the way.   There are also a few breaks for music with the 'Desert Island Christmas Discs' as selected by our guests - Mayor of Galway Peter Keane; Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council Martina Kinane; Bishop of Galway Michael Duignan; Reverend Alistair Doyle, Curate, St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Galway and representing the United Church Galway, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Reverend Helen Freeburn.   Throw another log on the fire, make yourself comfy and enjoy some chat and music.

This week, bereaved parents and families across the county, country, and the world come together to commemorate the lives of their babies and lost pregnancies. In a special documentary, journalist and documentary maker Sally-Ann Barrett shares the heartfelt stories of two Galway women whose families have been deeply affected by stillbirth. This episode, titled Isabella's Table and Letters to Sadbh, offers a poignant look into their experiences, honoring the memory of their children. Please note: This podcast discusses sensitive topics that some listeners may find distressing.

Digital Media Producer of Galway Bay FM Dylan Connolly (AKA Indie rock artist KONNO) joined Kayte O'Malley in studio for a chat after the release of his debut single 'Meet Me Later'.  The song was quickly welcomed by both the public and the music industry. Just a few days after the release announcement, Dylan was chosen as the Grass Roots Artist of the Week by 2FM's New Music Show.   The track is available to stream on all major platforms.

Generation Fleadh is launching this week in Galway city, and Sarah Slevin has been chatting to council member Eabha Leech. Eabha, a film studies graduate, gives some early and exclusive details of the festival, bringing film culture to young people across Galway City and County. Generation Fleadh runs from October 23rd to 26th 2024, and is the younger half of the Galway Film Fleadh for people aged 12 – 24. Hermitage Green joined Kayte in studio to mark the release of their new album 'Connections'. After a hectic few days on the road - Culture Night saw them play to over 1000 people in Limerick City and they also played the Clifden Arts Festival - the lads talked about their new 'rave-y' sound, recording with Rubberbandits' Bobby Fingers in his Mam's front room in Limerick and crowd surfing in a blow-up dinghy at Electric Picnic. Space Week 2024 is back from October 4th-October 10th. Sarah Slevin catches up with Rob O'Sullivan of Blackrock Castle Observatory, who is National Coordinator for Space Week. He tells us all about their roadtrip, which will see retired NASA astronaut Steve Swanson travel the country, and make a stop at Galway Atlantaquaria. This year's theme is Space and Climate Change, and along with the road trip, the Space Week crew are also teaming up with Galway city libraries throughout the week. Galway-born cruise Captain Brian Whelan made one Donegal girl's day by reuniting her with her cherished teddy rabbit after it was left behind during a family holiday aboard the Princess Cruise Line. When Sophie’s mother, Mona, realised the prized toy had been accidentally forgotten, she turned to social media for help. Thanks to the quick response from Captain Whelan and his crew, Sophie’s beloved toy was soon tracked down and returned to her, bringing a heartwarming end to the holiday mishap. Ronan Lardner from The Live Wire tracked down the Galway Sea Captain who reunited a little Donegal girl with her beloved teddy, Rabbie.

Taoiseach Simon Harris has officially opened the new 50 bed ward block at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe  The project is providing replacement beds rather than extra beds, but in far more modern facilities, including single-bed private rooms. The Taoiseach met with hospital staff, local councillors and elected members, most of whom have been involved in this project since it broke ground in 2019 He says this new block will be transformational for the hospital

University of Galway Students' Union President Faye Ní Dhomhnaill chats to Sarah Slevin as students return to college. She talks upcoming events on campus, along with giving some tips to any nervous students. Faye also gives advice on the best ways to maintain a good work-social-college balance.
