As we enter into the Thanksgiving holiday, we have much to be thankful for and to celebrate, but last week was trying. Be thankful for your family and friends, good people.

For the second consecutive week, an all new episode of the Good Culture podcast has been released. This week we get into Silk Sonic, DaBaby acting like a baby, Rick Ross’ usher board look and the latest episode of Insecure.

We’ve already lost an icon in 2021 and we pay our respects to Cicely Tyson (42:50). The conversation takes a wild turn thanks to some troubling allegations coming out of Atlanta (47:08), but not all challenges are bad, despite what some fu** boys may have to say (54:25).

It’s been a long time but damn it, episode 100 of the Good Culture Podcast is here and we are officially in celebration mode! But just because we’re celebrating doesn’t necessarily mean the whole city should break out the champagne or the D’usse slushes for that matter (10:08). The trap super bowl exceeded the hype (14:35). That was a wonderful evening for the culture and Jeezy even gave us an album (21:20) to match his mink and moving words. The long awaited “debut” album of Megan Thee Stallion finally dropped. Was it bad news on Good News (28:51)? It damn sure was on Kev Hart’s new Netflix comedy special (35:36). He’s Kev Hart until the elitist private school jokes go away. And on this week of family and thanks, we’re thankful for healing between Will and Dark Skin Aunt Viv (43:54), No hateration, no colorization in this dancery.

After a stressful week in Dallas (2:00), we needed this episode. As we prepare for the Trap Super Bowl (7:37), we discuss albums from 2Chainz (15:32) and Blac Youngsta (31:03) among others. We also got new work from Wale (37:52) who essentially made a song while playing his PS5 (41:19). Is a PS5 all a Black (48:38) man needs?

We were all out trying to make the best of MDW 2020: Pandemic Edition, minding our business, being black and excellent. Wunna (11:29) was providing the vibes for the most normal feeling weekend in what felt like a year. Grills were smoking, red cups were flowing. We were on pace to have a beautfiul weekend closed out by 112 vs. static, oops, Jagged Edge (17:24). The good life. And then Lana Del Ray had a question for the culture (29:15). We never recovered. Doja KKKat went under a sheet instead of between them (35:58) and then a Karen (59:25) showed up and showed her rabid white ass. Who knew that Molly (1:06:40) and ole freak ass Andrew would be the peace our weekend needed? Spoiler alert!!! And then we had THE wildest close (1:24:48) to an episode in this podcast’s storied history.

We last got in the studio to record on March 9th, 2020. We had no idea Big Rona was about to fuck up our respective worlds. Y’all knew about some big changes that were coming for the Good Culture family, but in the quarantine (2:11), we’ve done more than sit on our asses. Syd’s been on her skin care queen shit, but it’s still hard out here for a single baddie godmother swearing off pandemic peen (10:30). Despite a virus kicking the rest of the world’s ass, it’s still not a bigger threat to black people than racism (21:55). But despite our losses, we’ve found plenty of content to enjoy (34:54). Is #blackAF really black AF (48:38)? Did T. Lee tend to his family the last five Sunday evenings (1:01:40)? Did any of us lose our best friends over some fuck shit (1:18:13)? But still we rise!! You knew the culture would find a way to shine through all of this. The Verzuz (1:35:18) battles have been historically refreshing and fun and we are grateful for the great contributions we’ve celebrated. The toxic kings have also been on a run. This toxicity came in the form of songs (1:47:24). And last but not least we handed out quarantine superlatives (1:57:05). Be sure and cast your vote in the comments on IG. Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert and Jhene Aiko walk into a bar…..called Tate’s. They go into this bar on a Sunday at Noon. Megan feels right at home and even tells DJ Nitecrawler to play her new EP “Suga”. Lil Uzi does his best Young Thug impression and gets a couple tracks off of Eternal Atake put in the rotation. And Jhene is just a vibe wherever so she’s good too. Da Baby gets flewed in and he punches in as well, not into anyone’s face or anything so it’s all good. A white moderate got a little too comfortable and had to leave. Luckily she did, because the place was at capacity and she made just enough room for a special guest appearance from Drake and Lil Yachty. The joke’s on you if you’re not at Tate’s Sunday.

In this episode we discuss Lil Baby’s new album “My Turn” along with the Drake releases from the weekend. Meg got a little situation with her record label, but another queen is having to fight a battle as well. After we get through all that, the episode title will make sense.
