Second round of the NBA playoffs! We briefly examine the match-ups and the questionable refereeing as we near the conference finals

The first round of the playoffs is wrapping up and we discuss the action. And in a break with one of our podcast’s traditions, we look at some head coach hirings.

Tony and Jamie talk about the first round of the playoffs, coach firings, and Sam Hinkie’s resignation. And something else… we talk about something else. Maybe it was a person? Maybe a retirement? I’m sure we won’t forget.

The playoff picture is shaping up as the regular season nears the final month, and with only 8 spots in each conference, we examine the ongoing fight between teams that are near and below the playoff cut line.  To meet our (fake) Accounting credit requirements, we wade into the shallow end of the suspenseful and mysterious NBA salary cap system.  We also discuss Carmelo and the Knicks to cheer Tony up while he’s sick. The NBA trade deadline is over and it was super exciting! Or not. Mostly not.  We wanted it to be great, but it didn’t live up to the hype.  It makes sense though; the sequel is rarely as good. However, we still take a look at the active, yet not thrilling, trades from the deadline. Jamie apologizes to Anthony Davis, but the apologies stop there. Tony suffers through a painful round of “What team does that guy play for?” We also uncover the hidden world of espionage in the shadows of the NBA.

It’s a great time to be an NBA fan! All-Star weekend is over, but we go back over the excellence of Saturday night’s 3-point shootout and the surprisingly great dunk contest. We also examine trade deadline rumors and make our own predictions about potential trades (and how wrong we will be by the time the show airs!).

Things aren’t ‘goink’ so well for Derek Fisher in New York.  We take a very early look at the race to make the West playoffs as well as some injury struggles out west. We preview All-Star weekend and, though we claim we fixed it, we’re still out on the dunk contest.

  Another week, another show, another coach was fired, just like in Groundhog Day. Right? There was a very early spring cleaning in the Nets’ office! All-star weekend is coming, but instead of predicting this year’s all-stars, we try to predict the all-star future of younger players who have never selected. We are back from holiday break with a close examination of the rash of NBA coaching injuries. We have a ‘guest’ from the league office to respond to reports uncovered exclusively by our hosts. Jamie shares his first live NBA game experience. And, well, ‘Geeks’ is in our title: We are required to talk about the new Star Wars movie.

Golden State finally lost a game, Rondo talks himself into a game off, and Kyrie Irving’s 2015-2016 season debut nears.  We also examine the Spurs as ‘anti-copycats’ and the early trade rumors coming from Miami.  We also get a bit distracted by Star Wars and a little bit of football talk--stay tuned after episode end to hear how Jamie really feels about a football team.

Last episode, we decided we couldn’t talk about about, among many things, the Golden State Warriors, Kobe, Porzingis, and Philadelphia.  And that lasted one whole episode, and, frankly, we’re surprised it held up that long. So this week we take a break from our usual subjects (Philadelphia 76ers, Curry and Golden State, Houston Rockets, Porzingis!, etc) to take a look at 3 Eastern Conference teams that have been overshadowed so far. Also, Jamie and Tony make a wager on their fantasy match-up this week.

We have an early (and theoretically short) episode before Thanksgiving! Coach Kevin McHale was fired, which kinda makes Jamie a prophet.
