Today we wrap up our discussion of our March book, Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. We loved rediscovering this classic text and spent two full episodes diving in. The themes in this novel still resonate today and Hardy was ahead of the curve in his understanding of the plight of women. On today's episode we are thrilled to introduce you to Maggie Stokes and her Alaskan Husky, Pilot. Maggie is Deb's niece and Sophie's cousin. She is currently a college student in Maine who participates in a very unique sport called Skijoring. Today Sophie and I begin discussing our February and March book, Tess of the D'Urberville's by Thomas Hardy. This was a re-read for both of us and we were surprised at how relevant it still felt -- some themes will always resonate. There are no end of novel spoilers here - we only talked about the first 3 phases (about half the book) and will finish up at the end of March. We also continue with our regular segments! We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Joanna Biggs, the author of our January book, A Life of One's Own: Nine Women Writers Begin Again. Sophie and I connected with this special book on so many levels and to have the opportunity to talk with Joanna brought our reading full circle.
