Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling, she set out to write an otherworldly epic devoid of armed conflict.  In June, Lindevald, a member of the Congregational Church of Manhasset, achieved her goal by releasing a 684-page debut novel called “The Last Wizard of Eneri Clare.”  “I’m upset about our culture and how we embrace violence so completely,” she said in an interview. “It seems a default reaction when everything goes wrong: let’s bomb them or let’s shoot them. I noticed in the fantasy genre that good guys defeat bad guys by having a battle and chopping the bad guys up. What if there’s a novel where the good guys can’t use lethal force? Instead they use resourcefulness, community intelligence, and creativity.”  She first developed a love of writing, she said, in English classes at Sachem High School in Ronkonkoma, where prizes for her work helped her gain admission to Washington College, a small liberal arts school in Chestertown, Md. Throughout college she devoted herself to writing a musical, which led her to pursue singing full-time, she said. After getting an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business in 1996, Stacey did what no one does and went to India to study Ashtanga yoga.  Over the next 13 years, she made 7 trips to Mysore, South India to study with her beloved teacher, Sri K. Join Tina and Vince Glasser on Get-INTUIT as they discuss Transcendental Meditation (TM). This meditation technique is incredibly beneficial, universal and accessible to all. Tune in 1pm on Weds. Vince discovered the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, which gave him the rest, rejuvenation and clarity of mind that he so deeply craved and needed.  TM also restored the original desire to help people heal themselves of the problems that accumulated stresses in the mind and body causes,  so he became a TM teacher in January 2000 after six months of intensive training.  Vince returned home from Switzerland where he completed the  TM teacher training program, he started up a local chapter of EarthSave International and, as its director hosted monthly meetings for 13 years.  At each of the monthly meetings he held healthy potluck dinners and educated the members and guests on a variety of topics relating to health and environmental issues via live speakers or DVDs.  His eight years of training in public speaking with Toastmasters International’s Communication and Leadership program was invaluable experience with the EarthSave group (and the TM teacher training) where as director of the chapter,  welcomed members and guests, introduced guest speakers and sometimes also delivered presentations of his own.  He now Teaches TM to many people, as well as an Ayurvedic practitioner and a Myofascial massage therapist. Join Tina and Sara in conversation in the last episode of the Women's Entrepreneur Series.  Phone lines open 516-387-1936 Sara Intonato (E-RYT 500, Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga Yoga),  took her first yoga class as an 18 year old college student in Boston, Massachusetts. She fell in love with yoga and began practicing daily. By the time she graduated from Boston University in 2003, Sara had already completed her 200 hour Hatha Yoga certification and begun focusing her practice and teaching in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition under the tutelage of David Swenson. In 2005 Sara made her first trip to Mysore, India to study under Guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and deepen her connection to the Ashtanga Yoga lineage. She continues to make annual trips there, furthering her practice with R. Sharath Jois, Guruji’s grandson whom has guided the tradition since his grandfather’s death in 2009. Sara received her level one authorization to teach from R. Sharath Jois, director of the KPJAYI in Mysore in 2013. She was given her level two authorization in 2014. She is honored to perpetuate the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga. While in India, Sara studies chanting with Dr. M.A. Jayashree, PhD and Sri Lakshmish. In New York, Sara remains connected to the tradition as a student of senior teacher Eddie Stern. She humbly dedicates her practice and teaching to her late Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his family.
