Girls Tech Show

The Amplifying Girls Voices podcast joined forces with the Girls Tech Show to share their thoughts on Girls in ICT and how girls should and will be active leaders and designers of technology, pioneering a movement.

In our third episode, Hawa and Hawanatu of Sierra Leone discuss their experiences and the barriers they faced pursuing a path in STEM. Like so many places in the world, it is still mainstream for boys and men to be the only ones in tech in Sierra Leone. Hawa and Hawanatu are here to change that. Hawanatu is a web and app developer at the Orange Digital Center, where she is refining her skills and working on her own digital solutions. Hawa has co-founded the Kamara Yokie Innovation Center, where she brings youth together to learn about robotics, technology, 3D design, and so much more.

In our second episode of the Girls Tech Show, the girls discuss their experiences being involved in the ideation and design processes of technology and digital solutions. They provide their insight into girl-centered design and how it has makes a difference in the design of products and why it is important to make this process more inclusive for everyone. The girls also discuss what actions tech companies can take to create more inclusive environments and inspire positive change.

In our first episode of Girls Tech Show, the girls discuss the importance of creating safe and accessible online spaces free from harassment and harmful biases, where girls and young women can discuss issues they face because of their gender. Throughout their discussion, they talk about their experiences online, misconceptions users don't understand, and why a forum like Girls Out Loud has been a driver for engagement, advocacy, and change.
