Message Notes:
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. – Revelation 1v9-16 (ESV)
“A man says to me, 'Can you explain the seven trumpets of the Revelation?' No, but I can blow one in your ear, and warn you to escape from the wrath to come.” – Charles Spurgeon
About John:
- He’s our brother
- Partner in the tribulation
- Exiled to a penal island called Patmos
- “On account of the word of God”
- He was in the Spirit (on the Lord’s day)
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet 11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” – Revelation 1v10-11 (ESV)
Living for Jesus…
1. Living for Jesus starts with turning to Him
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. — Revelation 1v12-13 (ESV)
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. – Matthew 3v8 (ESV)
I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell. – WILLIAM BOOTH
2. Living for Jesus is fueled by knowing Him
14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. — Revelation 1v14-15 (ESV)
HIS HEAD - POWER AND AUTHORITY
HIS EYES - HOLINESS IN PERFECTNESS
“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” – Revelation 3:19 (ESV)
HIS FEET - HE’S COMING WITH JUDGEMENT
HIS VOICE - HIS DIVINE STANDARD
HIS HAND - STRENGTH AND HONOR
HIS FACE - INTIMACY & INSTRUCTION
In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. – Revelation 1v16 (ESV)
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. — Hebrews 4v12 (ESV)
3. Living for Jesus means listening to Jesus.
Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. — John 13v35 (NLT)
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. — John 14v15 (ESV)
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. - Revelation 1v17-18 (ESV)
Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am he; I am the first, and I am the last. — Isaiah 48v12 (ESV)
The past has been paid for
The future has been prepared
The present is up to you

Message Notes:
So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would me. (18)And if he has wronged you in any way, or owes you anything, charge that to my account. (19) I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it — not to mention to you that you owe me even your very self. (20)Yes, brother, may I benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ. (21)Since I am confident of your obedience, I am writing to you, KNOWING that you will do EVEN MORE than I say. (22) Meanwhile, also prepare a guest room for me, since I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you. —Philemon 17-21 (CSB)
At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” - Luke 22:61 (NLT)
(14) This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead. (15) When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." (16) Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." (17) The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. - John 21: 14-18 (NIV)
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. - Ephesians 4:31-32
So what’s are THE SPIRITUAL fruits that we must have as believers on dealing with a brother or sister who has wronged you?
1. Love
“Love is our trademark.”
“by this all people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” - John 13:35 (ESV)
True love is not appealing.
True love is on the contrary of our world view (I’m only going to love those that love me.)
If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. - 1 Corinthians 13:1–8a (ESV)
2. Forbearance (meaning self-control and restraining from taking action)
The Lord will fight for you while you (only need to) keep silent and remain calm: - Exodus 14:14
God knows how to deal with our situations
“My dear brothers and sisters, take not of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20. Because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you which can save you.” - James 1:19 - 21
“Be quick to listen to God’s thoughts on a matter, slow to speak your own point of view, and slow to anger, you should not like what God has to say in contrast to your own human perspective.” - Dr. Tony Evans
3. Gentleness
Let your gentle spirit (your graciousness, unselfish, mercy, tolerance, and patience) be known to all people. The Lord is near. - Philippians 4:5 (AMP)
I will say to the Lord,”My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”
- Psalm 91:2
WHAT GOD RESTORES HE MAKES BETTER!

Three Interpretations:
“Seven” = completeness, fullness of the Spirit
Seven virtues of the Holy Spirit
1 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. – Isaiah 11v2 (ESV)

And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. – Matthew 24v29-31 (NIV)

REVELATION 1
1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. – Revelation 1v1-3 (ESV)
Basic Timeline of the End times
gospelchurch.co/revelation
What did Jesus say about the end?
3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. – Matthew 24v3-8 (ESV)
Other important things Jesus says:
No one knows when, not even the angels (v.36)
As the days of Noah were so it will be (v37-38)
His coming will be like a thief in the night (v43)
We should be ready for his coming (v44)
FURTHER STUDY - DANIEL 7
(about 600 years before Jesus)
13 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. 14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed. – Daniel 7v13-14 (ESV)

What should i do until the end?
1. WALK WITH A HEALTHY FEAR OF GOD
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. – Proverbs 9v10 (ESV)
Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. – Proverbs 9v10 (NLT)
2. WORK ON THE RIGHT THINGS
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, – Revelation 1v1 (ESV)
4 things from verse 1:
It’s a singular revelation // ”it’s the revelation of His return…”
God gave it // “This picture is a grace from God to equip us”
It’s shown to his servants // “those with a posture of servants grasp this”
These things must take place // “we cannot change the course”
“On what basis should we let you in?”
IN THE END… WHENEVER THAT IS… LET US BE PEOPLE WHO SPREAD THE GOOD NEWS.
3. WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO BE IN CONTROL
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. – Revelation 1v3 (ESV)
Three Things to do with Revelation
Read it - inform yourself of truth
Hear it - process it with humility
Keep it - live it out with hope
4. WORSHIP WITH YOUR LIFE
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; – Revelation 19v7 (ESV)

Message Notes:
20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” 23 So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?” — John 21v20-23 (ESV)
Your attention is your most valuable resource
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. — 1 Peter 5v8-9 (ESV)
Types of “driving” distractions:
Visual distraction
Cognitive distraction
Manual distraction
The difference between technology and slavery is that slaves are fully aware that they are not free.
— Nassim Taleb
21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” — John 21v21-22 (ESV)
Some moments expose your weakness, others reveal your strength.
Peter’s moments

cutting off the soldiers ear
denying Jesus three times
The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked. — Proverbs 24v16 (NLT)
never going back…
1. I’m committed to going forward
1 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. — John 21v1-3 (ESV)
Your comfort is your coffin
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, — Philippians 3v13 (ESV)
2. I’m convinced God is working in my life
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. — Matthew 7v15-17 (ESV)
3. I’m convicted about my walk with God
18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19 (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, “Follow me.” — John 21v18-19 (ESV)
Christianity isn’t a spectator sport… it’s army enlistment
Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” — John 21v22 (ESV)
We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere. - Leonard Ravenhill

7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea 8 and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him.9 And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, 10 for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. 11 And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” 12 And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. — Mark 3v7-12 (ESV)
IF THE DEVIL CAN’T MAKE YOU BAD, HE’LL MAKE YOU BUSY
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” — Genesis 3v1-3 (ESV)
SATAN DECEIVES…
And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. — 2 Corinthians 11v14 (ESV)
SATAN DISTURBS…
7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. — John 10v7-11 (ESV)
SATAN DISTRACTS…
And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. — Mark 3v12 (ESV)
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. — Matthew 5v9 (ESV)
how to have more peace…
1. Stillness (internal ordering)
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” — Psalm 46v10 (ESV)
All of humanity’s problems, stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.
— Blaise Pascal in 1654,
Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea 8 and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. — Mark 3v7-8 (ESV)
1 O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. 2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. — Psalm 131v1-2 (ESV)
2. Solitude (intentional withdrawal)
And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, — Mark 3v9 (ESV)
Three steps to solitude:
a) Find a Place
b) Know the People
c) Rest with Purpose
15 But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. 16 But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray. — Luke 5v15-16 (ESV)
3. Sacrifice (eternal impact)
13 And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him. 14 And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach 15 and have authority to cast out demons. — Mark 3v13-15 (ESV)

Message Notes:
Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, let all of us who are mature think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you.
In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained. - Philippians 3:12-16 CSB
All memories can be moments but all moments can't be ascertained as memories as all of them aren't stored in memory or they aren't relatively memorable as those moments which are stored as indelible memories. - Unknown
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 CSB
1.The Past
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! - 2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB
Don't be bound by the past and its failures. But don't forget its lessons either. - Billy Graham
2. The Present
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. - Matthew 6:33-34
3. The Future
For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11
I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. - Philippians1:6 AMP
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39 NLT
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Philippians 4:8 ESV

Message Notes:
8 Accordingly, though I am bold enough in Christ to command you to do what is required, 9 yet for love's sake I prefer to appeal to you—I, Paul, an old man and now a prisoner also for Christ Jesus— 10 I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus,[b] whose father I became in my imprisonment. 11 (Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.) 12 I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart. 13 I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel, 14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own accord. 15 For this perhaps is why he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back forever, 16 no longer as a bondservant but more than a bondservant, as a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. – Philemon 8-16 (ESV)
because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, — Philemon 5 (ESV)
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. — Galatians 6v10 (ESV)
The quality of your relationships are determined by how you handle conflict.
15 “You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you. 16 He shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place that he shall choose within one of your towns, wherever it suits him. You shall not wrong him. — Deuteronomy 23v15-16 (ESV)
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. – Proverbs 19v11 (ESV)
The effects of unforgiveness:
Bitterness
Isolation
Distrust
Fear / Worry
Depression
Hindered perception
You can’t conquer what you don’t confront.
What does Forgiveness do?
1. Forgiveness changes me
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. — Colossians 3v12-13 (ESV)
The Types of Forgiveness:
Detached forgiveness - reduction in negative feelings but no reconciliation in the relationship
Limited forgiveness - reduction in negative feelings, partial restoration, with less emotions
Full forgiveness - total cessation of negative feelings, relationship is fully restored
Forgiveness frees you from needing to get even.
2. Forgiveness is a choice
13 I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me on your behalf during my imprisonment for the gospel, 14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be by compulsion but of your own accord. – Philemon 13-14 (ESV)
Forgiveness means you don’t bring up what someone did anymore…
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
— John 16v33 (ESV)
3. Forgiveness is Christlike
16 no longer as a bondservant but more than a bondservant, as a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord. 17 So if you consider me your partner, receive him as you would receive me. — Philemon 16-17 (ESV)

FACEHOOK part 4 // "don't read the comments"
Episode in
gospelchurchco
Message Notes:
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. 19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” – 2 Timothy 2v14-19 (ESV)
Orthotomeo (handle) – to cut straight, to proceed straight, hold a straight course
4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. – 2 Timothy 4v4-5 (ESV)
For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. – Romans 7v15 (ESV)
WHY DO WE POST ON SOCIAL?
Self-presentation: positioning yourself they way you want to be seen
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? — Matthew 16v24-26 (ESV)
WHY DO WE SHARE OTHERS CONTENT?
Reciprocity - the practice of exchanging things with others for mutual benefit
WHY DO WE COMMENT ON SOCIAL?
Actions speak louder than words.
16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene. – 2 Timothy 2v16-17 (ESV)
Thoughts to consider:
1. Comments will try to demand my response
37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. — Mark 4v37-39 (ESV)
Discretion - the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information
Jesus asked 307 questions recorded in scripture
Jesus was asked 183 questions in scripture
Jesus only directly answers 3 questions
Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. – Proverbs 17v28 (ESV)
2. Comments are different from meaningful debate
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, – 1 Peter 3v15 (ESV)
DISAGREEMENTS DON’T HAVE TO BE DECLARATIONS OF WAR
“Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.” – Desmond Tutu
3. Comments can distract me from my purpose
2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. – 2 Timothy 4v2-5 (ESV)
4. Comments can dominate my identity

FACEHOOK part 3 // "friend request pending"
Episode in
gospelchurchco
Message Notes:
The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your relationships.
ingredients for friendship:
1. HEALTHY EXPECTATION
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. – John 15v13-15 (ESV)
You have a right to expect things from friends that you don’t expect from others.
36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”…..
40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? – Matthew 26v36-40 (ESV)
2. COMMITMENT NO MATTER WHAT
3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. 7 They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink – Luke 5v3-7 (ESV)
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. — Ecclesiastes 4v9-12 (NIV)
“My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” — Henry Ford
3. AUTHENTIC ACCESS
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. – Proverbs 18v24 (NIV)
LOVE IS GIVEN… BUT ACCESS IS EARNED
35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler's house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” 37 And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 38 They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.” 40 And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.41 Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”42 And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. — Mark 5v35-42 (ESV)
Be authentic with everyone but transparent with people you trust.

3. Apologize and Ask for forgiveness
23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. — Matthew 5v23-24 (ESV)

Message Notes:
51 When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. 53 But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But he turned and rebuked them. 56 And they went on to another village. — Luke 9v51-56 (ESV)
16 I said in my heart, “I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen and also the beasts of the field,8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! — Psalm 8v1-9 (ESV)

How do we respond to God’s majesty?
1. With Awe
1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. – Psalm 8v1-2 (ESV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” – Isaiah 6v1-5 (ESV)
2. With Worship

Message Notes:
1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. 2 I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. 3 When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before your presence. 4 For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. 5 You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. 6 The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished. 7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, 8 and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness.9 The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 10 And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. — Psalm 9v1-10 (ESV)
And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.– Psalm 9v10 (ESV)
Trust: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. — Psalm 20v7 (ESV)
what trusting Jesus looks like:
1. Letting go of control
For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. — Psalm 9v4 (ESV)
If you worry too much about what might be, and wonder too long about what might have been, you will ignore and completely miss what is. — Marc Chernoff
2. Not returning evil for evil
16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” - Romans 12v16-19 (ESV)
3. Loving your enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. — Matthew 5v43-45 (ESV)
Learn to sit with Judas and you’ll learn to love like Jesus.
The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished. — Psalm 9v6 (ESV)
4. Praying for your persecutors
7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, 8 and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. — Psalm 9v7-8 (ESV)
There will come a time, when the confession of the living God will not only cause hatred against us but will result in ostracism from society. The world cannot live side-by-side with us because what we say and do, whether we intend it to or not, is perceived by the world as condemnation on them. — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
5. Living for later
1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. — Psalm 90v1-2 (ESV)
1 Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. — 1 Peter 4v1-2 (ESV)

Genesis 2v18-25 // "Seeds in the Garden"
Episode in
gospelchurchco
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” 19 Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed. – Genesis 2v18-25 (ESV)
Garden - cultivated environment that produces fruit.
Marriage - cultivated environment that produces fruit.
3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, 6 but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.” — Matthew 13v3-9 (ESV)
A happy marriage is a long conversation which always seems too short. – Andre Maurois
He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD. - Proverbs 18v22 (ESV)
Healthy relationships have:
1. REST
8 And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. – Genesis 2v8-9 (ESV)
2. RESPONSIBILITY
The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. – Genesis 2v15 (ESV)
28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. — Ephesians 5v28-33 (ESV)
3. RESTRICTION
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” – Genesis 2v16-17 (ESV)
4. RESPONSE
4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. – Genesis 3v4-6 (ESV)
Every marriage needs a response. NOT A REACTION.
