My 4 Commandments: How I Know I’m Being Who I Want to Be

How do you know when you're becoming the person you want to be?   In this episode, I share something deeply personal—the four commandments I live by. These aren’t rules I found in a book. They’re truths I’ve discovered over years of self-inquiry, spiritual practice, and lived experience.   These four behaviors—Be Grateful. Be Humble. Be Kind. And Live.—are how I measure alignment in my life. When I’m embodying these, I know I’m not performing or chasing. I’m grounded. Present. Me.   Inside this episode, I talk about:  ▪️ The power of gratitude to bring you into presence  ▪️ How humility isn’t about shrinking—it’s about seeing the whole picture  ▪️ Why kindness is one of the strongest spiritual tools we have  ▪️ What it really means to LIVE—and why it takes courage  ▪️ The mindset shift that changed how I show up for my life   💫 Special Gift for You If this episode moved you, I’d love your support.  Leave a review on Apple Podcasts, take a screenshot, and submit it to https://tally.so/r/wMVQNY — and I’ll send you a free guided meditation as a thank you gift.   💌 Get the G&G Weekly Edit Want a weekly moment of reflection, inspiration, and grounded tools for your growth?  Subscribe to the G&G Weekly Edit — a soulful email from me to you, every Friday. Curiosity Over Expectation

This phrase—“Curiosity Over Expectation”—has quietly but profoundly reshaped my life, and I’m kicking off Season 3 of the Gratitude & Growth podcast by diving deep into it. In this episode, I share how this mindset has become my personal motto, and how choosing curiosity instead of clinging to expectations has transformed my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual life.   You’ll hear: How expectations limit our joy, creativity, and connection Why curiosity has been my greatest teacher (and superpower) How it’s changed my relationships, my nervous system, and my creativity The link between curiosity, presence, and possibility A gentle mindset shift to help you try without fear or perfection   💫 Special Gift for You If this episode moved you, I’d love your support. Honoring the Cycles & Seasons of Life

In this special season two finale, we’re diving into the importance of honoring the cycles and phases of life. Just like nature, with its seasons—spring, summer, fall, winter—we as human beings also go through our own cycles. Whether it’s the 28-day hormonal cycle, the ebb and flow of creativity, or the push and pull between masculine and feminine energies, everything in life has a rhythm. In this episode, I open up about my own journey of learning to honor the season I’m in, especially when it comes to slowing down and allowing myself time to rest.   I share insights on how we often resist change because we’re clinging to control, ignoring our bodies and spirits, which are telling us to shift gears. I also talk about the balance between masculine and feminine energies—the doing versus the being—and how I’m learning to embrace the feminine energy of receiving and resting.   I’ll be real with you: I’ve been denying myself a season of rest, even though my body has been asking for it. But now, I’m taking a step back to allow myself to slow down, to just be, and to trust that the creative sparks will still be there when the time is right.   Thank you so much for joining me on this incredible season two journey. Although we’re wrapping up, the episodes from seasons one and two will still be available for you to listen to. This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast we dive into the Power of Silence, and I share my insights from spending 11 days at the Bali Silent Retreat.   I detail my honest and personal journey of where I was before I went to the retreat, how the time in silence affected me, the lessons learned, and my conversations with Patricia, one of the co-founders of the Bali Silent Retreat. The episode dives into themes such as the importance of listening, the impact of removing distractions, the beauty of nature, and the concept of silence as a tool for self-discovery.    I encouraged everyone to integrate silence into your daily lives for reflection, rest, and personal growth.   I cannot recommend this retreat enough, please find all the information on their website at https://www.balisilentretreat.com.   Connect with G&G on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gratitudegrowthpodcast/ Connect with G&G on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gratitudegrowth/   I’d so appreciate it if you would take a moment and leave a rating, a review and subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. The Importance of Self-Care & Rest

This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast we explore the essential roles of self-care and rest, two practices that are vital for maintaining balance and avoiding burnout. There’s a difference between self-care, which involves activities that nurture and rejuvenate, and rest, which is about shutting down stimulation to find mental clarity and peace.   We live in a world that moves very fast, if we don’t take time to prioritize ourselves and our rest, we can get stuck on a mental hamster wheel -- and that hamster wheel isn’t always one of stress, worry, and anxiety. It can also be one of creativity, inspiration, and fulfilling work.    I’ve been on an incredible hamster wheel of inspiration and creativity lately, but I realized I needed to pause from that too. A lot of creators fear pausing momentum, but there is a balance to be found between creative action and periods of rest. When you allow yourself to rest and to take a step back, you move away from the tunnel vision and find even more inspiration. If you’re on a hamster wheel of stress, resting will bring you solutions to whatever problems you have at hand.  Take a moment for yourself today—whether it’s a bubble bath, a walk, or simply a few minutes of quiet reflection. Embrace self-care and rest as essential practices for living a balanced and present life. Ian Tyson: Finding Gratitude in Grief

This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast I sit with Ian Tyson (@Iantyson) and talk about finding gratitude in grief. We have a very open and vulnerable conversation about the loss we have experienced in our lives (Ian losing his mom when he was very young and me losing my dad in my early 20s) and how gratitude has shown us a way of accepting and navigating it.    Ian is a motivational speaker for 30+ years, the author of “Hooray for Everything! The Optimist Manifesto” and, my favorite title, a Silver Lining Prospector.    This is the first time I’ve ever spoken publicly about the last three months of my dad’s life, and I’m very grateful to Ian for holding that container for me. I didn’t realize how vulnerable I would feel and I can hear it for myself as I listen back – there are parts of this episode where I talk SO fast -- and I’ve learned that’s a defense mechanism of mine. I actually tried editing the speed of the podcast in those parts, but I decided to leave it be and allow my own vulnerability to come through.   For those of you who are going through any kind of grief right now – I hope you find hope and empowerment here.   Connect with Ian on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iantyson/ Connect with Ian on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IanTysonSpeaker Connect with Ian on his website: www.iantyson.ca    I’d so appreciate it if you would take a moment and leave a rating, a review and subscribe to the podcast. Setting Your Level of Tolerance & Still Practicing Unconditional Love

This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast I dive into our Level of Tolerance: what it is, how to set it, and how to maintain it while still offering others Unconditional Love.    This was something I struggled with for a long time – I always lowered my level of tolerance when I was put in situations with people that did not match it. My people-pleaser tendencies would come out and I would end up letting myself down (and lowering my level of Tolerance) because I thought that is what it meant to unconditionally love people.    This is not the case. You can Unconditionally Love people and maintain your Level of Tolerance at the same time. Discovering this balance gave me a great freedom to be myself and live life according to my own levels and no one else’s (hint: Boundaries play a great role here).    Life will always meet you at your Level of Tolerance, and sometimes it will test you to see if you will in fact maintain and fight for that level, or if you’ll consistently keep lowering it. Michelle and I dive into our personal stories around breathwork, the foundations of different kinds of breaths,  and what it has brought us (and continues to bring us): how breathwork brought us to a place of love and oneness, how it helps us push past emotions and evolve, and how it lets us witness the different parts of us and accesses our subconscious mind.    If you’ve ever been curious about Breathwork, I cannot recommend it enough, and this episode will give you a great glimpse into what you need to know.    You can all the info regarding Michelle and Windtuition here: website: www.windtuitionwellness.com  IG Handles: @windtuitionwellness  @Michelle Argyris   Michelle has a beautiful Women's retreat in Sedona, AZ coming up this fall and just announced Windtuition's new subscription-based platform to join in on meditations, breathwork and sound healing from the comfort of your home.  As well as a new online program called Illumin8 to help calm the nervous system to live your most expansive life! Lastly, her own podcast coming called Conscious Conversations & Donuts! Check out her website for all of their live events, full moon ceremonies, hikes and more!    I’d so appreciate it if you would take a moment and leave a rating, a review and subscribe to the podcast. Dr. Natasha Kovacevic: Neuroplasticity, The Subconscious Mind & Mental Hygiene

This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast I sit with Dr. Natasha Kovacevic and we dive into Neuroplasticity, Emotional Regulation, the Subconscious Mind, Mental Hygiene, the (scientifically proved) importance of nature on the brain and SO much more! This was a mind blowing (ha ha) interview for me.    Dr. Natasha Kovacevic is a computational neuroscientist and serves as the founder of xSensa Labs and holds the position of Senior Director of Precision Psychiatry at Advanced Brain Monitoring. Her research is centered on leveraging contemporary brain imaging and computational methodologies to propel advancements in psychiatry. Through her work, Dr. Kovacevic aims to develop an objective, quantifiable approach to diagnosis and to empower individuals to take control of their mental well-being and unlock their full cognitive potential.   This episode was fascinating for me because I got to finally dive into the science behind positive thinking, gratitude, and our brain’s incredible ability to adapt and change. The science behind what happens to our brains when we think and focus on mainly negative thoughts and patterns vs. when we focus and think on positive mental patterns. We talk about how to keep your brain healthy, how to prevent certain illnesses, and sneaky things our brains are addicted to (like STIMULATION).     You can find more information about xSensa Labs and the incredible work they are doing here: https://xsensalabs.com/   I’d so appreciate it if you would take a moment and leave a rating, a review and subscribe to the podcast. Presence, Awareness & The Seat of the Observer

This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast I dive into Presence, Awareness & The Seat of the Observer. All these words and concepts we hear across the Mind, Body, Soul spectrum, the personal development world, the spiritual community -- that sound different, but I think are actually talking about the same thing! I talk about what Presence is for me, exercises I use to build my presence (or rather, just turn my mind off and enter the present moment), and my overall, never-ending, journey with it.    Are you always waiting for the future to bring you happiness or relief? Or are you always worrying about a scary or worse future? Are you always replaying moments from the past in your head (good or bad moments)? Do you ever live in the here and now?    Presence is the key to peace, and at the end of the day, the present moment is all that actually exists. It is also the most powerful and empowering moment in your life. Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” was the first book on spiritual enlightenment I ever read, and it has stayed with me for over a decade now. I return to it often. It is a book that woke me up to the fact that my mind is the root of my suffering, that my thoughts aren’t who I am, and that there is so much more to us than what our minds think we are.
