Welcome to episode 24 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast.  This week’s show is dedicated to all of the news erupting from E3 2019. In just over one hour we bring you all the announcements from all of the major E3 2019 press events, beginning with Xbox and going on through Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix and Nintendo. We bring you our thoughts on all those lovely new gaming announcements, including The Outer Worlds, Gears 5, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, DOOM Eternal, Watch Dogs Legion, Gods and Monsters, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Marvel’s Avengers, Link’s Awakening, Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild 2 and, of course, that Cyberpunk 2077 “you’re breathtaking” Keanu Reeves moment!

Welcome to episode 23 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s show, we get hands-on with free-to-play monster-slayer Dauntless, the post-apocalyptic Rage 2 and the dystopian bar sim VA-11 HALL-A. We also put Detective Pikachu under the magnifying glass (spoiler-free) to see how the first live-action Pokémon movie has come together. We celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Minecraft by talking about some of the records that the game his set over the years. And, to round-off the show, we turn our attention to E3 2019 to discuss the latest news and rumours.

Welcome to episode 22 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. We’re rapidly approaching the half-way point of 2019, so what better time to take stock of the games that have made the biggest splash so far this year? Not only are there some entries high up the list that arrived with perhaps less fanfare than others – Sunless Skies and DiRT Rally 2.0 among them. There are also some notable absences – including Anthem, Crackdown 3 and Days Gone.   Elsewhere, we find time to chat about the games we’ve been playing, including the ultra-violent Mortal Kombat 11, card-based RPG SteamWorld Quest and fiendish shmup Hell is Other Demons.

This week we preview E3 2019 – from the impact of PlayStation missing this year’s show, to whether we can expect Xbox to show off its “Nextbox”. We also round-up the rumours with regards to the games we expect to see, including Rocksteady’s next project, Square Enix’s Avengers game and our hopes for new entries in the BioShock and Splinter Cell franchises. Elsewhere, we chat about the games we’ve been playing – including Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on the Switch, the spooky Taiwan-developed Detention and the ingeniously difficult Cuphead. And we round-off the show with a celebration of Nintendo’s NES classic Duck Hunt as it hits its 35th birthday!

This week, we spend a whole lot of time talking about our collective failures in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, From Software’s brilliant new adventure. Welcome to episode 16 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s show, we go head-to-head with the forces of hell in Devil May Cry 5, walk the mean streets with Pixel Crow’s Beat Cop and take up the challenge of platforming great, Celeste. We also take a close look at the new Harry Potter: Wizards Unite mobile game, and we join Capcom in celebrating 15 years of Monster Hunter. So, come this way to find out how high the tallest monster in Monster Hunter World stands!

Welcome to episode 15 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s show, we run the rule over a few new games, including Deltarune and Treasure Stack, and a few old games such as the Ico HD remaster for the PS3. We also dig into all the Pokémon Sword and Shield news – including those new starter Pokémon – following the latest Nintendo Direct. While we’re at it, we use the excuse of Oscar Isaac throwing his hat into the ring to play Solid Snake, to chat about which Hollywood stars should play some of gaming’s biggest characters. Danny DeVito to play Super Mario, anybody?

Welcome to episode 14 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s show, we’re joined by Super Mario Kart record-holder Sami Çetin as we get down to the nitty-gritty of Mario Kart drifting technique and strategy. Sami’s fastest completion of Mario Circuit 1 in the NTSC version of Super Mario Kart took just 55.97 seconds and has stood for more than four years! We ask him how he got so good and what advice he’s got for would be challengers. Elsewhere in the show, we chat about our time with Anthem, Undertale and Old Man’s Journey. We discuss the retirement of Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime – and his replacement by Bowser – and we speculate on Bethesda’s roadmap for Fallout 76.

Welcome to episode 13 of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s show, we stay very much on the rails in Metro Exodus, see how high we can place in a round of Tetris 99 and get our kamehameha on in Jump Force. As well as getting excited for Apex Legends, we also dissect when we might see a new Metroid game following Nintendo’s announcement that Metroid Prime 4 is going back to the drawing board. Elsewhere, we answer a listener’s letter that asks which dormant games should be brought back with a view to Wargroove recreating Advance Wars’ magic. Welcome to episode 10 (we made it!) of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. In this week’s special episode, we cast our thoughts forward to the biggest games to come in 2019. Will The Last of Us Part 2 or Death Stranding debut on PlayStation in 2019? Is Halo Infinite going to be a launch title for the Xbox One’s successor? And will Doom Eternal be enough to see Bethesda to bounce back from the disappointment of Fallout 76? Then there’s the question of whether or not the Switch will continue to sell like hotcakes for Nintendo? Given the console’s potential 2019 line-up of Luigi's Mansion 3, Bayonetta 3, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Pokémon and Animal Crossing we strongly suspect there’s a good chance that it will. And yes, we did record this show before the news broke that Metroid Prime 4 was being restarted from scratch by Retro Studios – the best laid plans and all that…

Elsewhere, we celebrate the First Fortnite player to achieve 100,000 eliminations (and no, it’s not Ninja) and mark the release of the Mortal Kombat 11 trailer by taking a look back at some of the series’ most interesting records...  

Welcome to episode eight of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast. There’s only one place to start in this week’s show and that’s with Resident Evil 2. With our flashlights at the ready, we braved Capcom’s zombie-filled Resident Evil 2 One-Shot Demo and lived to tell the tale… well, some of at least. Never ones to look a gift zombie in the mouth, we also dedicate our regular On The Record segment to Resident Evil 2, as we bring news of the One-Shot demos best speedruns. While we’re there, we take a look back at the best Hunk/Tofu speedrun from 1998’s Resident Evil 2 and consider what the Fourth Survivor mode will look like in the remake. Beyond that, we take time to dissect the news that Amazon might be getting into the game-streaming business and look at the divorce between Bungie and Activision – who comes out of the relationship the happier?  And, as ever, we close out the show with our “Boss Fight” games quiz. This week with the theme of, you guessed it, Resident Evil!

In episode seven of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Podcast, we chat about all the games we’ve been playing over the Christmas break, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Red Dead Redemption 2, Dead Cells and Call of the Cthulhu. Later in the show we consider whether the PS4’s latest sales figures means it has a chance of toppling the best-selling console ever, the PS2. And we survive Alien: Blackout’s reveal trailer, as Amanda Ripley returns (albeit to mobile devices). We also look back to last year’s biggest records, including the most critically acclaimed game of 2018, the most achieved Platinum trophy for a game released in 2018, and the most popular Twitch channel of 2018 (no prizes for guessing it belongs to Ninja)!

The GWR Gamer’s panel gets into the festive spirit by exchanging Secret Santa gifts, before getting down to the important business of debating our favourite games of 2018! To this end, the four members of our panel each pick their personal top five games of 2018. With their fifth pick being awarded two points, their fourth pick four points, all the way to their top pick which will earn itself the coveted perfect 10. The only ground rules are that every game selected must have been released in 2018 and we don’t count remasters or compilations. So, no Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and no Castlevania Requiem. This is our final show of 2018, but we’ll be back in 2019, so look out for our next show on 10 January 2019. Happy new year!

This week we’re thrilled to say we are joined by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario! Charles was in the GWR London HQ to collect his record certificate for the Most videogame voiceover performances as the same character - now up to 100 following the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Over the course of the show we chat about how he started out as Mario, what it’s like to work with Nintendo’s team in the studio, how he came up with the voices of Mario and the other characters that he voices (including Luigi, Wario and Waluigi), how Mario’s voice has hanged since 1992 and plenty more besides. And, in our regular On The Record section, we chat about some of the Mario series’ most impressive record titles. Including the most-critically acclaimed Mario game, the best-selling videogame and the most speed-run Mario game – woohoo!
