226. Average White Man Podcast

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club political podcast for May 29, 2019. It is the Average White Man edition of the show with your well above average white men hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week's edition, number 226 (!!!!), features tales of white men and black men, heroism and infamy, glory and shame. First, the race within the race: research shows that the Democrats would prefer a female to a male presidential candidate, a person of color to a caucasian. So why then are the leading Dem candidates average white (old) males? We discuss. Then, cognitive dissonance writ large strikes the left as new revelations about Martin Luther King's sexual depravity surface in an article penned by Pulitzer Prize winning King biographer David Garrow. We discuss Monica Showalter's take on the issue as described in her insightful American Thinker column here. Do we need to start re-naming all the schools, streets, public buildings etc? What about the claim that if you support Trump you are giving tacit approval to his objectionable behaviors (e.g. P***y grabbing)? We have our shower thoughts, sure. And our hidden gem is from Sly and the Family Stone: If You Want Me to Stay. Enjoy! 225. The Trump Impeachment edition

G'Day Podcast Mates and welcome to another edition of the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast, number 225!!! it is the Trump Impeachment edition with your unimpeachable hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week we discuss the continued, unabated mania that the left has for impeaching Trump and we ask: who suffers most from this blindfolded denial? Are there Dems who will be elected because the likes of Nadler and Schiff spend the remainder of the 116th Congress retracing the sterile steps of Robert Mueller and his Hillary-supporting attack dogs looking for actual Russian collusion? Or does this appear (as Nancy Pelosi seems to think) to be a losing strategy? Another way to ask this is simply this: can the left in America ever really get over the 2016 election? Can the average upper middle class elitist coastal-dwelling liberal ever accept that it is okay to just allow Trump to be President as the legitimately elected leader of the nation? Their mantra has been, until now, "this cannot stand." Needless to say, that is an infantile response to an adverse event. You don't learn anything about the world reacting that way. Next, speaking of "adverse" events, the Liberals (read: the right) in Australia have won a stunning election. It appears that every poll and every pundit predicted that Scott Morrison's government would go down to defeat and yet they won a third term. It thus ranks with Brexit and Trump as one of the major triumphs of the burgeoning populist movement. When the U.S. is finally overwhelmed by illegal aliens Australia might be the logical place to escape. We ask (everyone is asking) how did the polls get it so wrong? Our shower thoughts (Mike talks about Game of Thrones) yes! And our hidden gem this week is from folk legend Gordon Bok with Ann Muir: "Freedom on the Wallaby." Enjoy! 224. Free Lunch Podcast

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for May 15, 2019 it is the FREE LUNCH (Yesss!) edition of the show, number 224 (omgggg) with you charmingly lunchable hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week, we begin with an assessment of the Dems race to the bottom. Who can grovel and apologize in the most humiliating fashion? Beto is in the lead at the moment for his histrionic avowal of white privilege on The View recently. But they are are racing backwards, Red Books in hand, begging to be forgiven for not being sufficiently downtrodden and victimesque. Is this really the winning strategy for the D-persons? Then, we talk about the recent kerfuffle in Warwick, Rhode Island where they are lunch-shaming the poor kids whose parents don't fork up the lunch money; to wit, they are giving the deadbeats' kids cold lunches (sunflower butter sandwiches??? Yukkk! sounds cruel and unusual to me!). Finally (say it like the Donald) Chaaeenuh! Is this trade war actually the one issue in the entire body politic that everyone agrees on? I mean, Chuck tweeting to Donald: hold the line!!! Bipartisanship and inter-party comity courtesy of the Commies. Same as it ever was, I guess. Our shower thoughts, of course. Our hidden gem? From the Disney cover album Stay Awake, Bonnie Raitt performing Baby Mine from Dumbo! Enjoy! 223. The No Match Podcast

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political podcast my sweeties! Come to refill the old political obsession tank? Here to procure that pithy but deep diatribe fix? Well you are in the right place! This is edition number 223 and we call it the "No Match Podcast" with your absolutely unmatchable hosts, Right Coast radio guy Todd Feinburg and Left Coast AI guy Mike Stopa (the handsome one). This week we have our dear friend and special guest Jessica Vaughan, she of the Director of Research for the Center for Immigration Studies, to discuss with us the return (did I hear anyone say "Hallelujah"???) of the No Match letters that are now going out to every employer in America who submits an I9 form for even one employee whose name and social security number do not match what is in the Social Security database. Jessica tells us that many of these no matches are just...typos! Many are just...name changes! And many are (shhhh) illegal aliens either using stolen or fabricated SS#'s. This is where the actual problem is. The Democrats know it. The Chamber of Commerce knows it. And they are screaming that these letters are going out and good lord that is a good thing! Next, we discuss the concept of Universal Basic Income. Tried in a million places under a billion conditions. Is it effective and reducing welfare state bureaucracy? Isit a good idea to give succeeding generations of people (Americans) the idea that there just is no need to work or make anything of yourself? Is it possible to defend this idea of reducing everyone to dependent status at all? We try. We try. Then, our shower thought...conceived in showers...about anything. And our hidden gem this week? from Son Seals, Telephone Angel. Enjoy! Join the conversation and comment on this podcast episode: https://ricochet.com/podcast/harvard-lunch-club/the-no-match-podcast/. 222. The $2T Podcast

Welcome dear podcast addicts to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for May 1, 2019 - Workers of the World Unite! You have nothing to lose but your CHAINS!!!). This is the $2T Podcast edition of the podcast (from the department of redundancy department). We are your hosts, radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week, Chuck and Nancy are giddy that they went to the White House, asked for, basically, the store, and DJT (or so they claim) *gave* it to them to the tune of 2 trillion (with a "t") for our crumbling roads and bridges. (and what else, pray? ...or should I say "prey"?). Then, Joe Biden decides to start his presidential campaign by calling Trump a racist. This is new? We explore the White supremacist = antifa equivalency. What did Trump really say? Why does the media get away with a perpetual lie? (why is the sky blue?). Our shower thoughts, yea! And our hidden gem for the week, from the British Inavsion era, the Hollies: Look Through Any Window. Enjoy! 221. The I-Word Podcast

Welcome friends to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for April 24, 2019 it is the I-Word edition of the show with your T-Word ("terrific") hosts Todd Feinburg, radio guy, east coast and Mike Stopa, AI guy, west coast. We are here every week to blast you with the latest news and political commentary that you so deeply need. This week, the I-Word. Impeachment. Who be fer it and who be agin it? Does Rachel Maddow have any choice really? It matters not a whit what the Mueller report said, Maddow and her like-minded fellow travellers were going to continue to be pro-impeachment no matter what. That's what happens when you are insulated from empiricism. But how about the legacy media like WaPo or the NYT? And then, how about the Dems, the Reps, the candidates? We will analyze. And speaking of candidates erstwhile Harvard Law professor Liz Warren is out ahead of the curve in the wonk world *and* with calling for DJT impeachment. Is Liz going to surprise everyone and walk away with the nomination? We remain to be convinced...but we are pondering. Our shower thoughts are provocative (what did you think?) and our hidden gem this week is from the New Broadway Cast of Pippin, Morning Glow. This is a fabulous piece of music. Enjoy! 220. Judge da Buddha

Welcome HLC listeners, Buddhists, Jains, Christians, Muslims and ye of no faith at all! Welcome indeed to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast number 220, yes you heard right. That's number 220! This is the Judge da Buddha edition of the show with your judgemental hosts Todd Feinburg on the East Coast and Mike Stopa on the Left coast. Today we discuss the latest Dem phenom, South Bend Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg. He of the Afghanistan tour (while mayor!), he of the openly gay (since 2015), he of the really garden variety liberal political opinions. He of the highly articulate Harvard speak. Is he real? Is he in fact the Bill Weld of the Democrat party? We discuss. Then, Israel, Oh, Israel. The Trump administration has been better to Israel than any administration in history. They have accepted Israeli annexing of the Golan, they have signaled willingness to allow Israeli annexing of the West Bank. Why are American Jews writing lengthy missives denouncing Trump's policies? Losing a little of the flock there, Moses? Our shower thoughts, yes? Some comments on the burning church in Paris. And 88 years ago today Louisiana was six feet under water (most of it anyway). The story inspired Randy Newman to write Louisiana 1927. Enjoy! 219. Homeland Insecurity

Welcome friends and lovers to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast number 219. (Whoa Nellie!) It is the Homeland Insecurity edition of the show with your rock-solid hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week, rumblings (at last) in the department of homeland security and Kirstjen Nielsen is (at last!) out, out, OUT!!! She of the Bush ideology, the foot dragging, love-those-dreamers persuasion. And now in charge (for the moment) it appears to be the Red Cross Knight Stephen Miller. Is it possible that the Trump Administration is finally going to actually get serious about the issue that won him the White House? Hope so. Then, we discuss the Dems plan for a nationwide $15 minimum wage. Oh how jolly. I'm sure that will go over really big in Mississippi. Good luck. Our shower thoughts are scintillating as always. And, a propos of rich getting richer and poor getting poorer we bring you as our hidden gem Blood Sweat and Tears' rendition of God Bless the Child. Enjoy! #218 Tactile Politics

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club political podcast for April 3, 2019, episode number 218 (!!!) it is the Tactile Politics edition of the show with your touchy-feely hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This week, we return to an earlier era where we used to bring you *three* topics. Yes! This week you get a bonus topic. And, without further adieu, they are these. We bring you up to date on the Mueller/Barr collapse of the collusion narrative melodrama. Barr plans to release the Mueller report ASAP. ASAP is not fast enough for the Dems who need something to scream about. Then, Creepy Uncle Joe - what can we say? Answer: a lot! And on to Air Disasters. Whither Boeing now? We will discuss. Shower thoughts? Of course. And this week's hidden gem, in honor of his 77th would be birthday, Leon Russell's version of Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues. #217 Mulling Mueller

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for March 25, 2019 it is the Mulling Mueller edition of the show with your mellow mulling hosts radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa. This is (you counting?) episode number 217! This week it is all Mueller all the time. The report is out. Barr and Rosenstein have chimed out the results. No collusion! No obstruction! Complete exoneration! Golly life is good, no? The evidence is so convincing that a range of heretofore diehard leftist #Resistance fighters have issued apologies on twitter for having accused Trump of conspiracy, collusion and *treason*. Some examples: @XavierBecerra The release of the #MuellerReport has been a shock of cold water to all of we #Resistance members. Accept with dignity that @POTUS is #fullyexonerated. Let's make it a learning experience. #eggonface @FullFrontalSamB So embarrassed by #MuellerReport I'm b'ding from my eyes (and elsewhere). Time to swallow hard and accept people's verdict fm Election 2016. Still oppose @realdonaldtrump policies, but time to get woke from #PutinPuppet delusion. @GeorgeTakei Just as hard as coming out, but Barr and Rosenstein reading of #MuellerReport leave no choice: #nocollusion, #noobstruction. @SarahKSilverman It's time for #resistance diehards to STFU and accept @POTUS #exonerated. Our liberal brand is corrupted if we can't accept what all dentally challenged white trash plainly see. F-- those CNN A-holes who led us down this fantasy highway. #Bernie2020. @TheRickWilson  Live by #muellerinvestigation die by #Mullerinvestigation. Even hack #nevertrump consultants dining on crow tonight. Sobering. Humbling. If the left can live up to these intellectually courageous standards then so should we! We have our shower thoughts! #216 Kraft Bears Podcast

Welcome mama bears and daddy bears to this the 216th edition of the Harvard Lunch Club political podcast - the Kraft Bears edition of the show - with your unbearable hosts, east coast radio guy Todd Feinburg and west coast AI guy Mike Stopa. We come to you every week with the pithy, the provocative and the funny stories that, well, that make you thirst for more. This week, we discuss Robert Kraft, New England Patriots owner, winner of an unprecedented six Super Bowl Titles and (loyal?) patron of heretofore thriving establishments such as the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida. As you surely know, Bob was caught with his hand, er, in the fortune cookie jar and rumor has it that there is videotape. Mr. Kraft says no. We shall see. The house of ill repute in question is more than just a whore house, however, and is a wing of a sex trafficking network. Questions: Should it matter to Kraft and his sentence and his future reputation that the prostitutes he patronized were (assuming they were) effectively sex slaves? and Should Kraft be made to serve 100 hours of community service (as first offenders typically do) just like anyone else as a penalty? Then, we're all about the bears...the sun bears, also known (adorably) as the honey bears! These little southeast asian critters have, according to world renowned scientists, exhibited the ability to mimic the facial expressions of their bear-buddies. Is that remarkable? We will discuss. We have (you guessed, right?) our shower thoughts and our hidden gem - one of Todd's favorite songs from one of his favorite groups - is Give a Damn, by Spanky and Our Gang. Enjoy! This week, this very day, Mitt Romney, our former governor from Massachusetts and, did it really happen?!? candidate for president has decided to...to....to what exactly? to write an op ed in the Washington Post...to enter the fray...to slam the President....And, you may ask, to what end? Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for December 17, 2018 it's the Angry White Men edition of the show #204 with your bitter clinger White Hosts, radio guy Todd Feinburg and AI guy Mike Stopa (the handsome one). This week we ask: if the Dems are the party of inclusion, then why is it that the top three candidates for the Dem Presidential nomination for 2020 are, so far, three gnarly white guys? We say: amend the Constitution so that Ocasio-Cortez can run! Then, the Dems are planning what next to do with healthcare. Status quo? All out socialism or something in between? Who knows. We will discuss. More Join the conversation and comment on this podcast episode: https://ricochet.com/podcast/harvard-lunch-club/angry-white-men/.
