I wanted to wrap up the season adresing some common misconceptions in the self help world regarding New Year vision boards and New Year Manifestations. While I do believe in using the cognitive mind set of putting your vision on paper in order to rid your mind of disbelief/lack and replace intrusive thoughts with abundance; I do not believe manifesting alone is all it takes to see active change in our lives. In addition to manifesting we must also put good works behind our faith to create actionable achievable steps that will bring our manifestations to life. Not only is this psychological but this is also a biblical concept that requires faith and action to be used in unison when we pray and wait on God for our desires. This episode breaks down the concept of planting and seeing a harvest in practical farmer terms. The same concepts can be used when discussing personal growth. There can be no God given harvest without a season of planting first.  I pray this episode is a reminder and encouragement that God has not forgotten about you, however there is very important soul work that Spirit does in our hearts during our season of planting. In this episode my Fiance and I are sharing first hand what we've learned in pre- marital counseling that helped us better show up for the other person the way God intends. We are breaking down the incredible book called "Love and Respect" by Doctor Eggerichs and discussing various communication styles for relationships called "TIP" and "Listener/Speaker". Both of these communications styles drastically changed our love for one another and made us both feel heard and understood.  Love alone is not enough to sustain any relationship let alone the Godly covenant of marriage. Like any life transformation and life responsibility, there are practical tools you can learn to help you draw nearer to your spouse.   In this episode you will hear several acronyms we learned on how men and women both spell love differently. Men value respect and need it to stay in their relationships and most women value and prioritize needing to feel loved above all else. The way women spell love is through the acronym "COUPLE" and the way men spell love is through the acronym "CHAIRS". Once you learn that your partner hears and sees through an entirely different lens then you do; you will learn what they need.  Not only are the concepts we're sharing biblical, they are also psychological. God tells us in his word that there will be struggle in all marriages; he also says that marriage is the greatest depiction of his love and how Christ loves the Church. We are accountable to upholding this covenant even when its hard.  We pray that the lessons we learned the hard way, shows listeners they are not alone. You are seen and you can be encouraged that misery in your relationship is not what God intends. As summer slowly approaches its end, tune into this episode of Her Authentic Self Podcast as I uncover the spiritual messages God has been showing me.  The first is that there is purpose in isolation. Often times Spirit must get us alone, removed from distractions in order for us to hear Gods voice more clearly. The second is that many of us need to stop idolizing pleasure, myself included.  I am not always going to feel good all the time; but there is something to be said about sitting with God in discomfort. Something powerful happens when we choose to trust God, build up our faith and move as though he is our comfort, he is our refuge; not ourselves and not temporary satisfaction and pleasure.  God loves all his children and the hope is that we learn the messages he has for us so that we don't repeat the same pain and struggle over and over again. His writing is full of biblical perspective as well as first hand accounts from other couples he counsels and through intentional reading and the written workbook practices we do as a couple, I have learned: -We should treat covenant relationship as Kingdom responsibilities, not as entities that will always meet our needs -It is crucial that we seek God for counsel and not lean on our own understanding in relationships. Our hearts and feelings can be deceiving.  -Covenant relationships are symbolic for how Jesus treats the church. Future husbands represents Jesus and the future wife represents the church -Marriage can not survive without surrender to God, without sacrifice and without grace and patience. Hasn't God proven himself enough to us? Many people, even non believers can pin point at least one moment in their life where God provided for a need almost miraculously. Those who don't believe in God call them "moments of luck". As believers we know God to be in control of all things. He is our heavenly father, protector and covering. He proves himself to be good to us all of the time; yet somehow we still forget what is possible in Christ the moment new issues and struggles arise.  How quickly we seem to forget all the small and BIG ways, God proves himself to be true and loving towards us. If God is righteous, is he not the same God yesterday as he is in the days to come? I have not forgotten about my amazing listeners! As the year quickly approaches an end I plan to drop either 1 or 2 more episodes mapping out prayers and goals for the new year and ending with gratitude for all that God has done and continues to do.  In this episode I share a subject that I know God is working on within me. It took me a long time to understand that my efforts of protecting myself were actively going against God's promise to me, which is that he protects all of his children.  This episode is for those who lean avoidant, and those who deem every uncomfortable situation or moment as a red flag. God used a specific moment in my life to show me that in order for Spirit to take me to the next level with this podcast and in my life generally, I'm going to have to learn to lean into discomfort rather than running from it. I'm learning to ask myself what moments require forgiveness and reconciliation as oppose to running away from everything that hurts me. As the year is wrapping up, I wanted to share with the Her Authentic Self audience all the significant transformations God has been doing in my family. Prayers I've been saying for years that have finally been answered in the simple awareness I'm starting to see in my mom. Most of my life I prayed that my mom would be open to seeing and hearing the ways her actions or lack there of, have negatively affected me and my siblings. Recently she finally sat me down and told me everything I needed to hear, everything that God has been exposing to her about our family.  In this episode I share some scientific information about the very real implications trauma during pregnancy has on the genetic effects of an unborn child. Studies show Epigenetic inheritance from maternal trauma is very real and even being studied across multiple generations. Not only have I seen this to be true first hand in my family but also open discussions with my mom have shown me aspects of myself that I wasn't aware had passed down from my mom, her mom and so forth.  Spirit spoke to me about the need for prayer over familial bloodlines and how as children of God we need to command certain generational curses end with us! In order to make lasting change that effects generations to come in your family, it's important to to be aware of the ways negative mindsets that may be present in you and passed down from family members in the past.  Because of God, no matter what generational darkness has existed in our family's, we can still be encouraged that epigenetic's and generational trauma are not predetermined in our lives. I know this message is going to help the girlies out there because so many things got in my way this week and almost stopped from posting this episode for you all. Everything from sickness, overstimulation, exhaustion and mental/emotional overwhelm with family members and coworkers  really brought me down however I'm not going to let any of those things hinder what Spirit is using me to do and the people God wants me to reach with this message.  Glory to God that even in the storm, he reminds me of what I need to truly feel balanced and get back to what feeds my soul. Sometimes the pride and joy you gain from your healing/emotional progress makes you feel like a failure when you see those old ways of thinking start to re-surface in your life. This idea we create in our minds that our journey towards growth should be an upward trajectory is not only false but can be very detrimental to our psyche. Until we learn that healing is a continuous process, both messy and beautiful, we wont be able to acknowledge that peaks and valleys are what make us human.  In this episode I share what my process looks like going back to therapy, the ways I've had to transform my thinking, give myself grace and trust that both progress and anxiety flares can exist at the same time.
