Remembrance Sunday Special - Vice-President Kerry Scarlett: "Remembering Well" (12/11/23)

On Remembrance Sunday (12/11) the sermon at the 11am worship was delivered by Kerry Scarlett, the Vice-President of the Methodist Conference. Kerry spoke eloquently on the experiences of trauma, displacement, guilt and fragmentation in the face of violence both in the past and in the present.  Alongside her appointment as Vice-President, Kerry also acts as the Learning & Development Officer for the West Midlands Methodist region and as co-founder of the West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network and Adavu. We encourage you to support Adavu by following them on social media and considering a donation. Black History Month Special - Margaret Greer, Cllr, Trade Unionist & Activist: 'Digging Deeper and Thinking...

"I do not need you to fear me, despise me, be jealous, or pity me. What I need from you is for you to see me, to hear me, and to walk with me." In honour of Black History Month 2023, Hinde Street had the privilege to host Margaret Greer, a National Officer at the trade union UNISON who also acts as Labour councillor in Enfield, and as London District Representative to the Methodist Church Conference. This Sunday (22/10), Margaret delivered a thoughtful, evocative, and informative reflection on Black History Month. She spoke about the role of Black History in Britain, taking on leadership roles in professional and religious spheres as a black woman, and the importance of the ongoing fight for equality, diversity and inclusion.
