Leyendas de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer Las Leyendas son un conjunto de narraciones de carácter posromántico escritas por Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer ?y publicadas entre 1858 y 1865. Estas narraciones tienen un carácter íntimo que evoca el pasado histórico y se caracterizan por una acción verosímil con una introducción de elementos fantásticos o insólitos. Fueron publicadas en periódicos madrileños de la época como El Contemporáneo o La América. Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer nace en Sevilla el 17 de febrero de 1836 y muere en Madrid el 22 de diciembre de 1870. Es conocido por su poesía y sus narraciones, y es un representante del Romanticismo, con influencias del romanticismo alemán. Como muchos otros artistas, Bécquer fue conocido en vida, pero hasta después de muerto no alcanzó la fama. Su obra más conocida es Rimas y Leyendas, obra que une las Rimas, escritas a lo largo de su vida, pero que no fueron publicadas hasta después de su muerte, cuando un incendio casi acaba con ellas, y sus amigos deciden publicarlas; y las Leyendas, que al contrario que las Rimas, fueron publicándose durante su vida. En esta obra se recogen todas sus rimas, donde relata su vida, y algunas de las leyendas más conocidas. En sus obras, siempre de carácter legendario, la fantasía de Bécquer se deja palpar en sus escenarios oscuros y tétricos donde se desarrollan las acciones envueltas en el misterio y la intriga del lector, llevadas a cabo por personajes masculinos apasionados (excepto la de El organista) enredados en leyendas populares que se tornan ciertas o tras mujeres descritas como bellísimas e intangibles. Los finales (exceptuando de nuevo la de Maése Pérez) son siempre trágicos por la pasión o pena del protagonista. Las leyendas de Bécquer cautivan porque hacen vibrar de amor, de curiosidad; hacen arder y a la par contagian la locura con el estilo post-romántico del autor. Nos deja sumergirnos por igual en la luz y en las tinieblas de su mundo interior. Transmite su nostalgia, sus ansias por cazar un amor etéreo al que adora pero no puede asir nunca. Sus espacios también llaman la atención por su silencio y soledad, donde el protagonista puede encontrarse a solas consigo mismo, con su amada o con seres escalofriantes que personifican el terror. En conclusión, aunque los argumentos de cada relato varíen, la esencia es igual en todos ellos, porque deja ver la soledad, lo monstruoso y fantástico, los sentimientos encendidos y el amor inalcanzable en las mujeres frías que no albergan sentimiento alguno en el corazón. La voz cristalina y sencilla de Bécquer desata en el lector emociones que muy otros muy pocos autores de igual talento han logrado. Actualmente hay múltiples ediciones de Rimas y Leyendas. La primera edición fue en 1871, con un prólogo de Rodríguez Correa, y contaba con dos volúmenes; a partir de la quinta edición contaría con tres volúmenes. Updated
