72. Bonus Q&A: Randy Answers Your Hardest Questions From This Season

You asked, and Randy answers: how to tell when today's pain is touching an old wound, and what to do when your heart feels stuck even though your head understands. In this bonus episode, Bryson brings your questions from the grief season to counselor Randy Hemphill, who answers them with warmth and practical wisdom. They cover grieving everyday disappointments, tracing big reactions back to their roots, and whether you need to confront the people who hurt you. They also talk about trusting God when prayers go unanswered and walking through anger and forgiveness after divorce. Pick one recent disappointment or one old wound and bring it to God this week, then share this episode with a friend who's carrying more than they realize. 71. How to Know You've Truly Forgiven Someone

Learn how to tell whether you've truly forgiven someone, and why forgiveness is where grief is meant to lead. In this season finale, Bryson and counselor Randy Hemphill explain forgiveness as the removal of punishment, not consequences. They talk through forgiving people who never apologize, setting boundaries that aren't punishment, forgiving yourself, and even releasing the anger we hold against God. Bryson shares a deeply personal story of forgiveness, and Randy uses his Kilimanjaro climb to show why this final push of grief is worth it. Think of one person you're still punishing and take one small step toward releasing them this week, then share this episode with someone who's carrying the same weight. 70. The Emotion You Feel You're Not Allowed to Bring to God (But Should)

Learn how to move from reacting in anger to expressing it in a way that strengthens your relationships instead of damaging them. In this episode, Bryson and Randy get practical about healthy anger — defining it as emotional assertiveness, walking through how to set boundaries without exploding or imploding, and unpacking why opposite personality types (anger-doorway and sadness-doorway) need each other in relationships. They also dig into anger toward God, using Psalm 109 and Isaiah 57 to show how honest anger can lead to self-awareness and even worship. If you've been holding your anger in — or letting it spill out sideways — try Randy's practice this week: write your own psalm of anger, moving from honesty to self-awareness to worship. 69. Explosive, Implosive, or Healthy? Making Sense of Your Anger

Anger isn't a sin — it might be one of the most misunderstood gifts God gave you. Bryson and counselor Randy dig into anger as it relates to grief: why it gets such a bad reputation, how it's actually rooted in love ("anger is love disappointed"), and the difference between healthy anger (emotional assertiveness) and its two unhealthy extremes — explosive and implosive. They also connect unprocessed anger to depression and anxiety, and talk through what it looks like to express anger well in marriage, friendship, and with God. If you've spent your life believing anger is your biggest flaw, this episode might just reframe it as your greatest asset — pass it along to someone who needs that same freedom. 68. From Stuck to Worship: What Lamenting Does That Complaining Can't

Expressing sadness isn't weakness — it might be one of the most worshipful things you do. In this episode, Bryson and Randy dig into why sadness feels like the harder emotion to access (especially for those wired toward anger or control), the generational and cultural lies many of us were handed about tears meaning weakness, and Randy's practical "blue journal" practice for safely naming grief in small containers of time. They close by walking through what it means to hold grief and gratitude together, and how Biblical hope lets a loss mark us without defining us. If sadness has felt like something to avoid rather than express, let this be your invitation to set a 10-minute container this week and see what surfaces — and if it hits home, send it to a friend who needs permission to feel, too. 67. The Doorway Emotion You Didn't Know You Had

What if sadness isn't something to fear, but a doorway to healing? Bryson and Randy continue their season on grief by digging into emotions — specifically, why sadness gets such a bad rap and what it actually does for us. They unpack Randy's concept of a "doorway emotion" (the one you default to — anger or sadness), why the emotion that isn't your doorway is usually the one you're most afraid of, and what happens when sadness gets buried instead of expressed. If you've been avoiding sadness because it feels weak, this episode might just change your mind — and if it does, send it to a friend who needs permission to feel it too. 66. The Grief You Didn't Know You Were Carrying

Not sure why you're carrying a low-grade anger or sadness you can't explain? This episode might tell you why. Bryson and Randy dig into what actually qualifies as a loss — from everyday disappointments to the deeper "underlying wounds" from our families of origin — and why so many of us are grieving without realizing it. They unpack the difference between recent losses and older, unresolved wounds, why Randy believes grief is never fully "one and done," and how naming our losses honestly is where real healing starts. If something in this episode named a feeling you couldn't place before, that's worth sitting with — and if you know someone who's been carrying something they can't quite explain, this episode might be the nudge they need. 65. When Hurry and Control Are Actually Grief in Disguise

If you've ever thought grief was only for funerals and major loss, this episode will change how you see your own daily life. Bryson kicks off a new 8-episode season of Honey for Your Heart with her friend Randy Hemphill — congregational care pastor, counselor, and author of We Grieve Our Losses — as they lay the foundation for a season all about learning to grieve well. Together they unpack what grief actually is, why most of us were never taught how to do it, and the two most common ways we avoid it instead: hurry and control. This one might sting a little, in the best way. Take Randy's control assessment linked below, be honest with yourself about where you land, and if this hit home, send it to a friend who needs permission to slow down too. 64. When You are Tired Of Being Strong

What happens when you've done everything you know to do… and you're still tired? In this season finale of Honey For Your Heart, we're sitting in that honest question together. After a season of walking through grief, waiting, gratitude, hidden growth, and staying under mercy, this episode brings us back to the simplest—and hardest—invitation of all: dependence on God. Because spiritual maturity isn't about needing Him less. It's about realizing how deeply we need Him for everything. If you're feeling weary, unsure how to keep going, or wondering what comes next—this conversation will gently bring you back to what matters most. Not striving. Not figuring it all out. Just staying near. What We Talk About in This Episode Why exhaustion often comes from carrying what was never ours to hold The truth about spiritual growth (and why it leads to more dependence, not less) The tension between wanting understanding and choosing God's presence What we can learn from Joseph, Job, and the Israelites about trusting God in hard seasons Why gratitude and remembrance are essential to sustaining faith The power of "memorial stones" and why your hardest seasons matter How God uses the fire to burn away what was never meant to hold you Why your story is bigger than you—and how your faith impacts others What it really means to "stay under mercy" in everyday life Key Scriptures Genesis 2–3 (The Garden: knowledge vs. intimacy) Job 38 (God's response to suffering) Isaiah 40:26 ("Lift up your eyes…") Joshua 4 (Memorial stones of remembrance) Daniel 3 (The fire that frees) Colossians 1:17 ("In Him all things hold together") Key Takeaways You don't outgrow your need for God—you grow deeper into it. God's presence is often given in place of the understanding we want. Gratitude trains your eyes to see where God is already at work. The hardest places in your story may become the clearest evidence of His faithfulness. Growth isn't always visible—sometimes it looks like simply continuing to show up. You are not holding your life together—He is. A Final Word If you're ending this season still tired… still waiting… still carrying questions— You're not behind. You're not failing. You're being formed. So don't strive harder. Don't try to hold it all together. Just stay near. Connect + Continue the Journey If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who may need it too. And if you haven't already, be sure to follow along so you don't miss what's coming next. Closing Reminder You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. And you are never walking alone.

63. Preparing for the Wedding: The Love Story God Is Writing

When Beth entered hospice, someone told her something that changed everything: "You are not preparing to die. You are preparing for your wedding." That single reframe shifted fear into anticipation and loss into longing. Because the Bible begins with a wedding in the garden…and ends with a wedding feast in eternity. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture tells one unified story — a love story — where Christ is the Bridegroom and the Church is His Bride. In this episode, we explore what it means to live now as women preparing for that wedding. Drawing from: Genesis 2 (marriage in the garden) Isaiah 1:18 (white as snow) Ephesians 5 (Christ presenting a radiant bride) 2 Corinthians 5:21 (clothed in righteousness) Revelation 19 & 21 (the wedding supper of the Lamb) 1 John 4:18 (perfect love drives out fear) Isaiah 62 (watchmen on the wall) Matthew 22 & 25 (parables of the wedding feast and the bridegroom) We unpack the profound truth that: You are not tolerated — you are pursued. You are not managing your way to heaven — you are clothed in grace. Love was made visible on the cross. Perfect love drives out fear and shame. When we truly understand that Christ sees us as a groom sees his bride — spotless because of His covering — something shifts. Fear loosens. Striving slows. Shame dissolves. And our lives begin to reflect that reality. This understanding changes how we live: We contend for the faith in daily prayer. We remind God of His promises — not because He forgets, but because we align our hearts with His Word. We devote ourselves to mission — inviting as many people as possible to the coming feast. We stop building our own empires and start building His kingdom. We rest in love instead of striving for approval. This episode is an invitation to step into the bigger story. You are not preparing for an ending. You are preparing for a meeting. And that changes everything. Reflection Questions Where am I still striving to earn love that has already been given? What would it look like to live today as someone preparing for a wedding? Where can I contend in prayer instead of controlling in fear? Who in my life needs an invitation to the feast? As we near the end of Season 3, this episode lifts our eyes beyond the sand, the fire, and the hidden seasons — and reminds us: Love wins. And the story ends in joy. Next week, we close the season with a deeply honest conversation: When You're Tired of Being Strong. Until then — You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. 62. Living with an Eternal Mindset (Part 2)

If you've been walking with us this season, you know we've been talking about what it means to live with an eternal mindset — especially in light of hard, holy, and life-altering seasons. In this episode, we take that conversation deeper. What does it really mean to live with eternity in view… not just in our theology, but in our Tuesday afternoons? In our grief? In our shame? In our unanswered prayers? Through the lens of our second-half theme — Layered in Grace — we explore how the foundation of the gospel changes everything: Sin did not surprise Him. The cross was not accidental. Resurrection was not symbolic. Death was not final. Jesus knew exactly what He was purchasing at the cross. You cannot out-sin His grace. You are not a regret. You are beloved. And because of that, you now live covered — moment by moment — in the same grace that saved you. We also talk about resurrection power — not as a guarantee of desired outcomes, but as the sustaining strength to overcome whatever you face. Overcoming does not always mean things turn out the way we prayed. Sometimes it means staying anchored in grace when they don't. Through personal reflections on my mom's battle with cancer, Beth's nine-year fight, and the significance of "completion" and "newness," we unpack what it looks like to trust that God is writing a story that will one day be fully and eternally good — even when it doesn't feel good today. Isaiah 40:26 reminds us to lift our eyes. The God who calls out the stars by name is the same God holding your life together. If you are weary. If you are questioning. If you are hurting. If you are wondering how eternity matters in your everyday life… This episode is for you. Until faith becomes sight, we live layered in grace — anchored in resurrection power — looking up. 61. Stay Under Mercy

Some seasons feel intense. Others feel invisible. But all seasons require structure. In this episode of Layered in Grace, we talk about the quiet, steady truth that sustains us through fire, irritation, waiting, and grief: Daily mercy is what holds us together. Building on our earlier conversation about manna — and the reality that you can't live on old manna — this episode explores what it means to live under new mercy every morning. Not dramatic breakthrough. Not emotional highs. But steady, repeated return. Drawing from: Lamentations 3 (new mercies every morning) Proverbs 3 (trust vs. control) Colossians 1:17 ("In Him all things hold together") The life and faith of Beth We unpack the deeper formation happening through: Repetition (myelin — how pathways strengthen through daily return) Prayer as returning, not performing Scripture as anchoring, not emotional experience Control as false structure Christ as the true anchor We also reflect on the powerful image of laminin — a structural protein in the body that quietly holds cells together — and how it mirrors the truth of Colossians 1:17: "In Him all things hold together." Not once. Not eventually. Right now. When life feels like it's unraveling — your plans, your body, your expectations — you are not self-sustaining. You are being sustained. This episode invites you to consider: Where have I mistaken repetition for stagnation? Where am I trying to be my own structure? What small daily rhythm could anchor me this week? Do I truly believe that in Him all things hold together — even me? Mercy is not loud. It is steady. It is structural. It is quietly covering, anchoring, and holding you together in ways you may not even see yet. You are not falling apart. You are being held. Reflection Questions What does "staying under mercy" look like practically in my life right now? Where am I gripping for control instead of leaning on Christ? What is one small daily anchor I can commit to this week? Who are the people reinforcing structure in my life? 60. Satan Doesn't Win

This episode wasn't planned. It wasn't polished. It wasn't scheduled. It wasn't convenient. And that's exactly the point. After preparing to record several deeply personal episodes for the second half of Season 3, life pivoted unexpectedly. Sudden illness. A car accident involving my son. A morning that felt derailed before it even began. And in the middle of it all, one message became crystal clear: Satan doesn't win. Not today. Not in the details. Not in the end. In this raw and real episode (recorded sick, makeup-free, and completely unfiltered), we talk about: Recognizing spiritual warfare in the everyday The "what-if loop" that fuels anxiety and regret The freedom found on the "what-is path" Seeing God's sovereignty in the smallest details Why our stories are bigger than us Drawing from personal experience and a recent conversation with Katherine Wolf (Hope Heals), we unpack how quickly we can spiral into: "What if I had left earlier?" "What if I had done this differently?" "What if this hadn't happened?" But the what-if loop leads to anxiety. The what-is path leads to sovereignty. The what-is path asks: What is true right now? Where is God showing up? Where is He providing? Where is He protecting? Where is He proving faithful? This episode is a reminder that even when the day falls apart… Even when plans are interrupted… Even when illness, accidents, or unexpected pivots hit… God is not surprised. He is sovereign. He is present. He is already providing. And Satan does not win. We also reflect on Beth's cancer journey and the eternal perspective that reminds us: The enemy may fight hard. But he loses. Daily. And most importantly, eternally. If you're walking through a hard day, a hard season, or just an unexpected pivot — this episode is an invitation to step off the what-if loop and onto the what-is path. Look for where God is working. He is there. Reflection Questions Where am I stuck in a what-if loop right now? What is true in my story today? Where is God already providing? Where has He protected me in ways I may have overlooked? What would it look like to trust His sovereignty in this detail? Sometimes faith isn't polished. Sometimes it's shaky and scratchy-voiced and wrapped in a t-shirt and a hat. But even there — He doesn't lose. You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. 59. Invisible Seasons: Rooted in Grace

There are seasons that feel loud — full of urgency, heat, and pressure. And then there are seasons that feel quiet. Hidden. Unseen. Slow. In this episode of Layered in Grace, we talk about invisible seasons — the kind where you are showing up, being faithful, doing the work… and yet nothing seems to be changing. Motherhood seasons where the days repeat. Waiting seasons where prayers feel unanswered. Marriage seasons where growth feels subtle at best. Personal healing seasons where no one sees the work happening beneath the surface. Using the imagery of roots growing underground, seeds buried before they bloom, and the biblical promise of treasures hidden in darkness, this episode gently reframes the lie that "nothing is happening." Because Scripture tells a different story. God often does His deepest work where no one is watching. Drawing from: Psalm 1 (roots before fruit) Isaiah 45:3 (treasures in the darkness) 2 Corinthians 4 (inward renewal, day by day) The wilderness seasons of Moses, David, and Jesus This episode explores the truth that: Hidden does not mean idle Buried does not mean abandoned Repetition is not stagnation — it is formation God deposits treasures in secret places Community matters most when you feel invisible We also talk practically about how to stay rooted in invisible seasons — through small daily rhythms, resisting comparison, staying planted, and remembering that faithfulness matters even when fruit isn't visible yet. This episode invites you to ask: Where am I tempted to quit because I don't see results? What if God is growing roots instead of producing fruit right now? What treasure might He be forming in this dark place? How can I remain faithful without demanding immediate evidence? If you are in a season where nothing looks like it's working, this episode is a reminder: You are not behind. You are not forgotten. You are not failing. You are being rooted. And roots grow best in the dark. Scriptures Referenced Psalm 1:1–3 Isaiah 45:3 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 Colossians 2:6–7 Galatians 6:9 Psalm 92:12–14 Reflection Questions What kind of invisible season am I currently in? Where have I equated visible fruit with spiritual growth? What small act of faithfulness can I commit to this week? Who are my "intertwined roots" — the people helping hold me steady? What treasure might God be forming in this hidden place? As we continue the Layered in Grace journey, remember: Growth doesn't always announce itself. But God is always at work. You are seen. 58. Fire That Opens: When God Meets You in the Heat

Some seasons feel like sand. Others feel like fire. In this episode of Layered in Grace, we talk about what happens when life turns up the heat — when the pressure is real, the grief is layered, and the questions feel heavy. Using the image of pinecones that only open in fire, we explore this truth: Sometimes the heat isn't destroying you. It's unlocking something. Drawing from: Daniel 3 (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace) Isaiah 43 ("When you walk through the fire…") James 1 (testing produces perseverance) The life of Job — honest anger and grief before God We unpack what fire seasons reveal — about our faith, our grief, and our marriages. This episode gently explores: Fire is not always punishment — sometimes it is formation. God does not always remove the heat — but He steps into it. Grief has two flames: sadness and anger — and both are biblical. Righteous anger is not weakness. Tears are not failure. Marriage in hard seasons requires layered grace, not silent resentment. We also ask the harder questions: What is this fire exposing in me? Where am I suppressing grief instead of bringing it to God? Am I expecting my spouse to carry what only Christ can carry? What if the fire is opening something eternal? The miracle of the furnace was not the absence of flames. It was the presence of the Fourth Man. If you are in a fire season right now, this episode is a reminder: You are not being consumed. You are being formed. And you are not alone in the heat. Scriptures Referenced Daniel 3 Isaiah 43:2 James 1:2–4 Job 13:3 Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 Colossians 3:13 Reflection Questions Where do I feel the heat in my life right now? Am I interpreting this season as punishment — or invitation? Which side of grief do I suppress — anger or sadness? Have I brought my honest questions to God — or kept them distant? What might this fire be opening in me? As we continue this Layered in Grace journey, remember: Fire does not mean abandonment. Sometimes it means God is nearer than ever. You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. This episode's companion resources: Fill-In-The-Blank Listening Guide Full Episode Study Guide Small Group Discussion Guide 7 Day Companion Scripture Guide

57. Layered In Grace

We all know the phrase: "A grain of sand becomes a pearl." But we often miss how. When irritation enters an oyster, it cannot remove it. It cannot fix it. It cannot escape it. So it begins to layer. Again. And again. And again. In this episode, we begin the second half of Season 3 — Layered in Grace — by looking closely at what happens when God does not remove the irritant. The diagnosis. The tension. The unanswered prayer. The season that won't resolve. Drawing from: 2 Corinthians 12 (Paul's thorn) Proverbs 3 (trust vs. control) Philippians 3 (the surpassing worth of knowing Christ) We explore a deeper truth: The pearl is not your strength. It is Christ's sufficiency. Irritants have a way of awakening control in us — especially as women. When life feels uncertain, we grasp for something we can manage. This shows up in our parenting, our homes, our bodies, our schedules. But control is not covering. Grace is. And grace does not come once. It layers. Daily prayer. Daily surrender. Daily return. This episode is an invitation to consider: Where has irritation awakened control in me? Have I equated love with removal instead of presence? What if the real treasure forming in this season is not resilience — but dependence? What if Christ Himself is the pearl? You are not abandoned in the irritation. You are being covered. Layer by layer. Scriptures Referenced 2 Corinthians 12:7–10 Proverbs 3:5–6 Philippians 3:7–10 Reflection Questions What is the "grain of sand" in my life right now? Where has it awakened a desire to control? What would surrender look like in this specific situation? Do I truly believe His grace is sufficient — or am I still waiting for removal? If this episode resonated with you, consider sharing it with a friend who may be carrying her own hidden irritant. And as we continue this Layered in Grace journey, remember: You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. Companion Resources: Fill In The Blank Listening Guide Full Episode Study Guide 7 Day Scripture Companion Guide Small Group Discussion Guide

56. You Can't Rely on Old Manna

In this episode, I share from a deeply personal place—walking through my sister Beth's final season and the question that has followed me through these days: Do I really trust God to be who He says He is—even here? Anchored in the story of manna from the wilderness, this episode explores what it looks like to rely on God's daily provision, not yesterday's strength, yesterday's faith, or yesterday's grace—but what He offers us today. We talk about how manna was never meant to be stored up, how God meets us fresh each morning, and how even when His provision changes form, His faithfulness never changes. Whether you're in a season of deep loss, overwhelming uncertainty, or simply the quiet weight of everyday life, this episode is an invitation to stop striving, open your hands, and receive the manna God has for you right now. In This Episode, We Talk About: The biblical story of manna and God's design for daily trust (Exodus 16) Why yesterday's faith cannot sustain today's need How Scripture becomes fresh manna when life feels unbearable Finding peace when anxiety tries to pull us into the future God providing for us—even while we rest The moment manna stopped—and what that teaches us about seasons of transition (Joshua 5:12) How God's provision doesn't stop when seasons change—it simply looks different Key Scriptures Mentioned: Exodus 16 Isaiah 40:26 Joshua 5:12 Habakkuk 3:17–19 A Word for You Today If the manna in your life looks different than it used to— If faith feels quieter, slower, or unfamiliar— This does not mean God has left. It may simply mean you've entered a new season. The same God who sustained you then is the God who is sustaining you now. Reflection Questions: Where might I be trying to live on "old manna" in my life right now? What does daily dependence on God look like for me in this season? Has God's provision changed form in my life—and how might He be inviting me to trust Him there? What is one small way I can gather fresh manna today? 55. Living With An Eternal Mindset

If heaven is our ultimate hope, why does today still matter so much? In this episode, Bryson reflects on how walking closely with loss has reshaped the way she sees everyday life. After losing her sister Beth, eternity stopped feeling like a distant concept and began informing how she lives, chooses, suffers, and hopes—right here and now. This conversation begins with a sacred reflection from Beth's final weeks and explores what it means to live with an eternal mindset not just at the end of life, but in the middle of it. Through Scripture, personal stories, and gentle invitation, Bryson shares how a daily "yes" to God—on both couch days and green pasture days—becomes the foundation for a life anchored in eternity. Living with eternity in view doesn't pull us out of this life; it gives meaning to every moment of it. From stewarding hardship well, to preparing our hearts with truth for hard days, to seeing the ordinary as holy, this episode invites listeners to lift their eyes and trust the God who is writing a far bigger story than the moment they're in. If you're carrying grief, walking through a hard season, or quietly asking how to keep going when forever feels far away, this episode is for you. In This Episode, We Talk About: What it actually means to live with an eternal mindset Why today still matters if heaven is our ultimate hope The power of a daily "yes" to God—especially on hard days How suffering shifts the question from "How do I escape this?" to "How do I steward this well?" Why we are never anonymous in seasons of hardship Preparing our minds with worship and Scripture before the hardest moments come How grief and hope can coexist without canceling each other out Seeing ordinary moments as part of a much bigger redemption story Scripture Referenced: 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 Colossians 3:1–4 Psalm 139:16 Hebrews 12:1–2 Revelation 21:3–5 A Gentle Invitation Ask the Lord this week: "Help me see what is unseen." 54. How Do You Practice Gratitude When Life Hurts?

Gratitude has been one of the most healing and transformational practices of my life. In this episode, we talk about why gratitude isn't just a nice idea or positive mindset—but a biblical discipline that has the power to reshape our hearts, our thinking, and our intimacy with the Lord, especially in hard seasons. Before diving in, I share a special moment from Season 2—Beth's own words on gratitude as she walked through cancer with unwavering faith. Even in her final days on hospice, gratitude remained a steady rhythm of her life. As she rested, my sister and I would read aloud from One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, and time and again, we watched gratitude wash peace over her soul. This episode explores: What gratitude really is—and why it matters How gratitude affects us biologically, spiritually, and emotionally Why gratitude often reveals what's hidden in our hearts How practicing gratitude trains us to depend on God rather than ourselves Why Scripture doesn't suggest gratitude—it commands it Through personal stories, Scripture, and practical application, we talk honestly about how gratitude can feel especially difficult in seasons of anxiety, loss, disappointment, and unanswered prayers—and why those are often the very moments gratitude does its deepest work. Finally, we walk through simple, tangible ways to begin practicing gratitude today—not just in the obvious blessings, but even in the hard moments—learning to receive life with thanksgiving and trust God even when nothing changes. If you're longing for peace, freedom, and joy that isn't dependent on circumstances, this episode is an invitation to begin the obedient, life-giving work of gratitude. Scripture Referenced Philippians 4:6–7 James 1:17 Psalm 34:1 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 Practical Takeaways Begin each day or evening by thanking God for specific moments from the last 24 hours Write your gratitude down or speak it aloud in prayer Invite the Holy Spirit to show you what He's doing even in hard moments Practice gratitude not as a feeling, but as an act of obedience A Gentle Encouragement Gratitude doesn't deny pain—but it does redirect our focus. As we practice gratitude, God slowly trains our hearts to trust Him more deeply and rest in His presence, no matter what season we're walking through. 53. What If Waiting Isn't Wasted

Waiting often feels like doing nothing — but Scripture tells us a very different story. In this episode, Bryson invites us into one of the most formative seasons of her life: the long, sacred waiting during her sister Beth's time in hospice. Beginning with words written in real time from a CaringBridge post, Bryson reflects on the strange tension of waiting — when hours pass in a blink, but days feel endless — and how God met her in the in-between. Through personal stories, biblical truth, and gentle reflection, this episode reframes waiting not as passive resignation, but as active trust. Bryson shares how waiting exposed areas of control in her own heart, and how God used seasons of helplessness to refine her dependence on Him. Drawing from Scripture, journaling practices, and moments of quiet surrender, she reminds us that waiting is often the place where God does His deepest work. If you're in a season of uncertainty, grief, or unanswered questions, this episode offers steady encouragement and a reminder that God is not wasting your waiting — He is present, purposeful, and at work in ways we cannot yet see. Scripture Referenced Psalm 130:5 Isaiah 30:15 Lamentations 3:25 Romans 8:26 In This Episode, We Talk About Why waiting is active, not passive The tension of time in seasons of grief and uncertainty How waiting exposes our desire for control Learning to surrender instead of striving Practices that help us wait well: prayer, Scripture, journaling, and awareness of God's presence A Gentle Invitation As you move through this week, consider where God might be inviting you to wait with Him instead of striving on your own. If all you can do right now is wait, know that you are not behind — God is doing sacred work in the in-between. Coming Next Week Next week, we'll talk about the practice of gratitude — not just being thankful, but choosing gratitude as a spiritual discipline. It has been one of the most transformational and healing parts of Bryson's journey, and she's excited to explore it with you. Thank you for listening and for walking this season together.
