Hounds of Horror

Due to some issues the week of this recording we had to reschedule Salem's Lot for a later date. Instead, Max and Victor discuss the first two episodes of the TV show Kingdom. What happens when the Zombie Apocalypse takes over Joseon (a fictional area similar to what is today, Korea)? More importantly, how can the zombies be weaponized for political gain? Find out how the guys feel about the show in this weeks episode.

***Please note that due to some health issues Kitty was unable to participate the following week so the guys ended up watching Kingdom instead. The Hounds will review Salem's Lot (the TV miniseries) at a later date.***   What would happen if Netflix made A Quiet Place? We don't have to ask ourselves anymore since the Hounds watched and reviewed The Silence. Which was basically A Quiet Place, but with smaller creatures and without John Krazinski.

What better way to ring in our 50th (regular) episode than with our favorite director. Okay, at least he's Kitty's favorite. Mike Flanagan directed and Kate Siegel started in this 2016 award winning psychological thriller. Join us as we discuss Hush. Quietly of course.

Vic's pick for this week is a soul crushing psychological horror movie starring Liam Hemsworth and Melissa George. Imagine if Groundhog Day took place on a Ghost Ship, and you have Triangle. What do you think the Hounds will rate this week's horror movie?

One of Mike Flanagan's first movies starring a couple of his regular actors, Ouija OoE is a prequel to the 2014 Stiles White movie Ouija. The movie is set in the 1960s and follow a charlatan psychic whose daughter accidentally invites evil into their home using a ouija board.  The Hounds discuss the ins and outs of this entertaining horror film.

Imagine being 100% sane, but being trapped inside a center that makes you believe you're completely crazy. A Cure For Wellness will have you questioning your own sanity by the end of it. The Hounds discuss this psychological horror film in this week's episode.

A little murder mystery, a little monster movie. This Clue like movie has you guessing who the Werewolf is among the humans. An enjoyable watch, but does it pass the horror test?

Ari Aster has become a horror giant in recent years. The Hounds discuss his debut movie, Hereditary. Does it hold up to the ratings of Midsommar? Listen and find out. 

In 1982 John Carpenter created a remake of the 1951 movie The Thing. This movie is a horror fan favorite and has remained a favorite for decades. Max, Vic, and Kitty take on the theatrical giant and discuss it at length in this weeks episode of The Hounds of Horror. 

This topical movie takes place amidst a global pandemic. Though that's not what the movie is really about. A park ranger and a scientist enter the woods in search of the scientist's mentor. While on their search the encounter Zach. A hermit who has been squatting in the woods for some time in a make shift camp composed of tarps and tents. The pair soon find that Zach is not who he seems, and find themselves at odds with the eccentric man. 

Kitty hits the group with another classic horror film. The Blair Witch Project jumpstarted a whole genre of found footage films (Max's least favorite horror genre), but does this "original" concept hold up to the test of time? 

A comedic twist on the zombie apocalypse, join the Hounds as they discuss this "horror" film starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.  It's a favorite for Vic and Max, but will it hold up for Kitty?

What would happen if scientists "infected" monkeys with rage and then a team of PETA members did a dumb and let the free? Well the zombie apocalypse of course.  Max is already infected with rage, so I don't know how much water that theory holds, but the hounds will discuss it in this weeks episode.

The Hounds tackle this 1996 slasher classic starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Skeet Ulrich. While slashers are not a favorite of the Hounds, this movie is a fun watch and a must see for almost any horror fan, but what horror rating will the group give this one? listen and find out
