Ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in today' special episode Benedetta De Rosa presents her academic research on the phenomenon of non-consensual distribution of intimate material in Italy. In the age of technological development, patriarchy has new spaces in which to act and oppress women. The Internet reflects social structures and power dynamics of the real world and although there is no physical contact, digital violence still is detrimental to women. A specific form of digital violence is non-consensual distribution of intimate material, which is commonly addressed through the lens of prevention of and for women, thus de-emphasizing the perpetrators of violence. In this episode, Benedetta deconstructs such narrative with direct words. In today’s episode, Benedetta De Rosa interviews two students: Leonardo Sperandini from the University of Macerata and Marco Biondi from the University of Florence to discuss the results of the last Italian elections. The right-wing coalition achieved the absolute majority in both Chambers and Giorgia Meloni accepted the role of first female Prime Minister of Italy, but new generations aren’t satisfied with such results. Actually, they are disappointed by Italian politics per se. The first guest displays how the Right gained so much consent in this last period, by underlining the inefficiency of the actual Italian Left, which didn’t meet Gen Z youth’s expectations. Throughout the episode, Marco presents the dramatic situation with respect to human rights and the danger of Fascism in Italy with Meloni’s new government in power. The second guest shares their personal experience and perception towards the elections and the new government. As a member of the LGBT+ community, the guest describes how psychologically damaging the Right’s attitude towards human rights is for people. At the end of the episode, both the guests discuss whether the election of Giorgia Meloni as the first female Prime Minister represents a step forward or backward for women’s rights: it is both, but without a feminist leadership, women’s rights cannot really improve. The episode offers the new generations’ perspective on the new Italian political framework, including the direction of Italy with respect to human rights with Meloni in power. In this episode, Dmitrii Litvin interviews two students from the MA in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance program: Mariam Mestiashvili and Elizaveta Filippova to explore the impact of the war in Ukraine on the mental health of students.  The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has resulted in widespread violence, displacement, and trauma, particularly for young people who have grown up amid the conflict. The guests discuss the ways in which the war has affected the mental health of students, including increased anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. They also delve into students' challenges in accessing mental health services and support.  Throughout the episode, the guests share their stories of how they have been affected by the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the impact of it on their mental health.
