Just a quick little update on what I've been up to this summer!

This episode talks about "I Prevail" and "Half Past Fine" in retrospect. These two songs close out the "PREVAIL" EP and will always be tracks I look at fondly. They sit on two different ends of the grief spectrum, and it's interesting to listen to them now nearly 10 years later to see what's evolved in that process. Enjoy!

In today's retrospect episode, I chat about "25/8" and "Back Against the Wall," tracks 1 and 2 off of my "PREVAIL" EP. These two songs helped to define the "PREVAIL" era by offering two different flavors of production - one punky, one fuzzy. Two different sides to my branding back then. The 'in retrospect' series continues with my 2015 single "Wild Girl," a pop punky collaborative track that shaped a new era of music. This song is bouncy, fun, sassy - everything I was at 21 years old when this was written. It was my first co-write, first song brought to a 'real' production team, and it opened many, many doors that I attribute to everything that happened in my career next. Thank you for listening! A bit of a delay on this one (been sick) so we're about 2 weeks behind, but I'm excited to talk about my newest single "Worst for You" and how it came to be. This song directly speaks to 19 year old me, who was careless, reckless, obnoxious, and all things a 19 year old in college tends to be. If I could make a change in my behavior back then, I would. But writing this song was a cathartic way to talk about the guilt I feel over my college relationship and how I've carried that around for a long time. This episode is much more in depth than previous episodes. In it, I discuss how losing my dad's entire family has impacted and changed my life as an adult. This is a tense and emotionally raw topic to talk about, but it has been therapeutic for me to speak freely about the three people that I love most. Although I mention it at the top of the episode, I also want to mention here that this episode mentions suicide, cancer, and death. If these topics are triggering for you, please listen ahead with caution. My biggest wish is that speaking about these topics in an open forum helps at least one person feel understood or heard. 2 episodes ago, I brought up the idea of recapping my discography so far, starting 10 years ago with the absolutely horrendous release, "The EP". Although this EP will never see the light of day again, it helped begin to shape what my music career would evolve into.
