Podcast 12 – Exercise for better mood

Episode in Hypnotikadiet
When you are depressed, exercise is usually the last thing you would want to do. However, once you tell yourself that you have to do something about your depression and you have to do it now, exercise becomes a remedy rather than a chore. Improved mood is one of the major psychological benefits of exercise. When you work your body in a way you enjoy yourself, your body releases chemicals called endorphins which abate stress and anxiety. Endorphins stimulate positive feelings, similar to morphine. However, endorphins do not cause dependence in individuals. Endorphins act as analgesics, as well as sedatives. They reduce your perception of pain and misery. Any type of exercise can help you with your depression but if you are just getting started, try dancing, walking, jogging, gardening, biking, swimming or yoga to give yourself a kick-start for your fitness journey. Why you should exercise on a regular basis Some of the psychological benefits of exercise include: Improves self-esteem and confidence Increases self-worth Empowers you Increases productivity at work Reduces stress and anxiety Wards of troubled thoughts so you feel less miserable and lonely Improves sleep A myriad of health benefits are linked to exercise. Some of them include: Improves cardiovascular health Higher energy levels Lowers blood pressure Lowers blood cholesterol Reduces risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer Treats obesity and reduces risk of related diseases Strengthens bones Slows down aging Increases strength and endurance Before you get started Before building an exercise program or pursuing any type of exercise, always make sure you follow a routine that is sustainable. Set goals that you can achieve and keep track of small successes regularly. Once you are comfortable with the routine you have set, you can slowly intensify the exercises or mix a few other exercises into your routine. For example, if you start with yoga to relieve tension, try incorporating some cardio (walking, running, swimming or dancing) as well to make things more interesting and fun. Try keeping in mind the following tips before you begin: It doesn’t matter whether the exercise is moderate or light, choose an exercise that you will enjoy. Exercise should be fun, not a mundane chore. Spice up your routine. Sticking to one exercise will do nothing but bore you in the end unless you start setting some small goals along the way. Try your best to intensify your exercises as you progress. If you are able to walk for 30 minutes, why not try 45 minutes next time, if you have the time? Alternatively, how about jogging next time within the same period? You can also check your gym for other exercise programs. Try joining an exercise class. You’ll make new friends and have support groups pushing you through all the way. Stick to the program. If you exercise regularly, don’t stop. Follow a routine and let exercise be a part of your lifestyle, like work and food. Exercise shouldn’t be expensive. It can be tempting to purchase the latest equipment but don’t buy them if you feel that you won’t be using them on a regular basis. Exercise should not be painful. Always listen to your body if you feel pain. It is okay to feel some soreness, but sudden body aches are warning signs your body is trying to give you. Therefore, stop and rest, and wait for the pain to go away.   The post Podcast 12 – Exercise for better mood appeared first on Hypnotikadiet.

Podcast 8 – Did you accomplished your New Year’s resolutions? Nope? Setting Goals

Episode in Hypnotikadiet
Setting Goals I like the idea of the whole resolutions thing but I see so many new clients that say that they made a resolution in January, only to get so disheartened that by March, they’ve pretty much declared themselves a complete failure, and it saddens me, because in reality, no-one is ever a complete failure. It’d be wrong to say that this only happens with New Year’s resolutions, it can actually happen as a result of any missed target. I figure now is a great time to address how to set achievable goals that won’t make you do your own head in before you’ve even started your resolutions. Podcast 6 – The Power of Thoughts – Cravings Feeding the Feeling

Episode in Hypnotikadiet
Cravings Feeding the Feeling The thoughts we all have are very important because they come from our beliefs about life, about us and thoughts affect our behavior very strongly. Our minds work in the following way: we have a thought that causes a feeling and this feeling causes a form of behavior. Logically this is affected by different experiences we may have: through the process, we build our beliefs and our self-esteem The post Podcast 6 – The Power of Thoughts – Cravings Feeding the Feeling appeared first on Hypnotikadiet.
