2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Review, Trims, Prices, Features And Pics

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Overview The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is somehow on its fourth model year.  I say somehow because it doesn’t feel like it has been out that long. It’s a big compact EV SUV that seats five.  And it’s significant because it’s the first all-electric vehicle from VW to be released in the US on the carmaker’s MEB platform.  That’s the platform Volkswagen says will usher in its EV future. Back to that ‘doesn’t feel like it has been out that long’ point.  In a few short years, electric vehicles have had a wild ride.  With carmakers going ‘all-in’ on an EV future.  Only to question that strategy later after the global public doesn’t go along with the program. But here’s the thing with EVs in Southern California.  They make a lot of sense.  Because we have very defined commutes and the ability to easily keep our EVs charged.  So the Volkswagen ID.4 can be the perfect tool for the job… of getting you to and from yours.  As well as many parts in between! And yes, as of this writing, the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit. ⇒ iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen What’s New For 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 For 2024 the VW ID.4 rolls with three trims.  Plus two optional batteries along with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.  An optional new performance drive unit producing more horsepower.  Also an optional larger dash display and more interior enhancements like a new climate control interface, steering wheel layout, and shifter position. Trims & Pricing When it comes to trims and pricing for the 2024 VW ID.4, it can get a bit confusing.  Because there are many configuration options when you factor in the trim, battery, and drive options.  For example, the Standard S and Pro have the same starting MSRP.  But that’s due to the Standard S only being offered with a smaller battery.  While the Pro trim comes only with a larger battery option. 2024 VW ID.4 Trims & Starting MSRPs Standard $38,995 Standard S $43,995 Pro $43,995 Pro S $48,995 Pro S Plus $51,445 Motor, Performance, Batteries & MPGe VW likes to say that the MEB vehicle framework returns the carmaker to its roots.  Like the original Volkswagen Beetle, the base-model single motor ID.4 has its motor in the rear.  So the ID.4 rear-wheel drive option delivers a single motor.  Where the all-wheel drive option gives you two motors.  Of course, with two motors you’re getting more horsepower and torque.  But you also have to factor in the battery options. 62kWh or 82kWh The smaller battery pack delivers 62 kilowatt hours and the larger powerplant juices up to 82kWhs.  The 62kWh battery with rear-wheel drive delivers 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque.  And the 82kWh battery with rear-wheel drive gives you 282 hp and 402 lb-ft of torque.  Then going with the larger 82kWh battery along with two motors and all-wheel drive tops off ID.4 with 335 hp and 99 lb-ft of torque in the front with that same 402 lb-ft of torque in the rear. MPGe When talking EVs and fuel economy, here too things change a bit.  Now the conversation is miles per gallon equivalent.  With the 62kWh battery and rear-wheel drive, ID.4 delivers 115 MPGe in the city, 98 on the highway, and a combined 107 MPGe. Adding the 82kWh battery to rear-wheel drive gives you 115 MPGe in the city with 104 on the highway for a combined 113 MPGe.  And that bigger battery with all-wheel drive drops down to 108 MPGe in the city with 96 on the highway and a combined 102 MPGe. Battery Range Finally, we have the battery range.  Which differs slightly depending on your configuration.  So the 62kWh rear-wheel drive delivers an EPA estimated range of 206 miles.  While the 82kWh rear-wheel drive gets you up to 291 miles.  Then the 82kWh with all-wheel drive drops down to 263 miles per full charge. Inside 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Being a fully electric compact SUV you wouldn’t expect such ample spaciousness inside ID.4.  But that’s what you get.  Partially because it’s an EV, so the normal construct and constraints of an internal combustion (ICE) vehicle do not apply.  But also thanks to Volksagen’s legendary attention to detail in fit and finish. VW’s press folks even go so far as to refer to the interior of ID.4 as ‘airy’ and I’d say that’s an accurate and fair description. Even elegant in simple design terms with a less is more motif. Different from its Volkswagen ICE siblings.  Yet continues to be unmistakably a VW, in electric vehicle terms.  Ample space is supported by equally ample charging and connectivity capabilities. An optional giant glass roof accentuates the changing driving dynamic along with a giant touchscreen monitor and future-is-now controls. Interior dimensions Headroom w/out glass roof 40.6/37.9 w/ glass roof 41.1/38.4 Shoulder room 57.5/55.9 Hip room 54.4/46.7 Legroom 41.1/37.6 *All inches What’s The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Look Like? The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 maintains its futuristic aesthetic while continuing to exude VW DNA.  A sweeping profile delivers a hint of EV.  But you really cannot be certain that it doesn’t run on fossil fuels until you spot the lack of tailpipes. Exterior dimensions Wheelbase 108.8 to 108.9 Length 180.5 Height 64.5 Width 72.9 Track: front 62.5 rear 61.5 *All inches Infotainment & Technology ID.4’s infotainment and technology interface is driven by a seemingly floating in-dash touchscreen along with a monitor resting upon the steering column.  Equally futuristic to the overall design of the interior is the way drivers interact with the ID.4. Volkswagen refers to the interface and design of the infotainment system as the ID.Cockpit.  Drivers manipulate the system mostly through voice and touch controls.  Enhancing that interface is haptic feedback.  And a new option for the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 with the 82kWh battery pack is a 12.9-inch touchscreen.  With that comes backlit sliders and an overall more intuitive operating system. Two sound system configurations are available for ID.4.  There’s a standard seven-speaker system.  And for the audiophiles who want to kick it up a notch.  The S Plus trims include a harman/kardon system with nine speakers a subwoofer and a 16-channel amplifier. Safety & Driver Assistance Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite of driver assistance tech features is standard equipment for the 2024 ID.4.  And that feature set is the same across all trims except the overhead view camera.  To get that, you have to go with an S Plus trim configuration. Warranty & Maintenance Coverage All 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 compact SUVs include a maintenance program and a limited new vehicle warranty. Providing scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 20,000 miles – whichever comes first.  Plus 3 years or 36,000 miles of roadside assistance – whichever comes first.  Also, a 4-year 50,000 mile, whichever comes first, new vehicle limited warranty.  And 5 years of remote features through myVW App. iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen   All the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

2024 VW Jetta GLI Review, Prices, Trims, Features And Specs

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is the enthusiasts’ Jetta.  It’s a compact four-door sedan that seats five.  Aka the Golf GTI with a trunk. And if you’re looking to drive with more power, tuned suspension, and overall sportiness.  Then the GLI Jetta is for you.  GLI stands for Grand Luxury Injection.  And a little more background bit for you.  Volkswagen introduced the Jetta to the US market in 1980.  Then they followed with the Jetta GLI in 1984. ⇒ iDriveSoCal’s VW Dealer Is Ontario Volkswagen New For 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI The biggest news for 2024 GLI is that the enthusiast model is being offered in two different trims.  There’s the 40th Anniversary and the Autobahn. GLI now includes Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive driver assistance technology on all automatic transmission models.  And that’s now standard.  Also new for the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is a nicety on the Autobahn models.  Because they now come with a heated steering wheel standard. 228 hp & 258 lb-ft of torque Trims And Prices – 2024 VW Jetta GLI For 2024 the VW Jetta GLI is coming in two different trims.  You have the option of the Autobahn or the 40th Anniversary Edition. 2024 VW Jetta GLI Trims & Starting MSRPs: 40th Anniversary Edition $28,085 Autobahn $31,785 It’s worth noting that the 40th Anniversary Edition GLI costs slightly less than the top-of-the-line non-GLI Jetta for 2024. Engine, Transmissions & MPG Under the hood is where you’ll find a big differentiator between the Jetta and Jetta GLI. Because the GLI comes with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder with 16 valves.  It’s turbocharged and intercooled.  Putting out 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.  That’s a big step up from its more tame sibling.  The non-GLI Jetta offers a 1.5L 4-cylinder putting out 158 hp with 184 lb-ft of torque. GLI comes only in front-wheel drive.  But automatic or manual transmission is being offered on both GLI trims for 2024.  The manual transmission is standard equipment on both trim options.  And the automatic transmission upgrades to a seven-speed dual-clutch. MPG with the manual is being estimated at 24/35/28 – city/highway/combined.  And with automatic transmission GLI’s estimated MPG bumps up to 26/36/30 for the same. 7-speed automatic or 6-speed manual trans 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI – What Does It Look Like? The Volkswagen Jetta GLI continues its athletic and sporty appearance.   Immediately recognizable are the red GLI badging and accents.  But if you miss the VW badge, you might easily mistake GLI for an Audi.  And being the brand’s luxury brethren, that makes sense. Curiously Volkswagen groups the GLI and Jetta in the materials it shares with the automotive press.  However, the engine, suspension and, appearance are all different when comparing the two.  Even the exterior dimensions differ – albeit slightly. Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 105.6 Track: front 60.5 rear 60.7 Length 186.9 Width 70.8 Height 57.3 Ground clearance 5.2 *All inches Inside The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Going inside the 2024 Jetta GLI you find the sporty accents continued.  Red GLI branded highlights and stitching adorn the gear shift column, seats, and more.  The stainless steel pedal covers further the sporty motif.   Plus 40th Anniversary Edition trims get a special steering wheel and seat tags.  A common signature differentiator VW adds to various trims and models. Controlling both trims for 2024 is a leather-wrapped steering wheel.  The automatic transmission, of course, includes paddle shifters for taking control of the RPMs. Also coming with GLI is either an aluminum or leather gearshift knob.  Aluminum comes with the standard manual transmission.  And leather comes with the manual trans. Heated front seats come on both trims.  But if you want them ventilated as well then you have to go with the Autobahn trim. Interior dimensions: Headroom 38.5/37.2 Shoulder room 55.9/54.0 Hip room 53.0/51.4 Legroom 41.1/37.4 *All inches Jetta’s overall passenger volume comes in at 95.7 cubic feet.  While its trunk space checks in at 14.1 cu-ft. Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro – standard Infotainment & Technology VW’s Digital Cockpit Pro comes standard in both Jetta GLI trims for 2024.  Replacing old-school analog instrumentation with an in-dash digital monitor.  That monitor interfaces with a 10.25-inch touchscreen topping the center stack.  Giving your driving experience more connectivity and customization. The 40th Anniversary Edition GLI comes with a lower-level 4-speaker sound system.  But opting for the Autobahn trim brings you more audible enjoyment with a 400-watt BeatsAudio system.  That includes 8 speakers and a subwoofer. Wireless app connectivity and wireless charging are both standard on GLI.  Along with 10-color ambient interior lighting.  That’s just sort of a cool novelty.  But nice for when you feel like adjusting the mood. Safety & Driver Assistance Also standard on Jetta GLI is Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive.  It’s a suite of driver assistance features.  Including blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, rear traffic alert, forward collision warning, and the like.  Plus adaptive cruise control, intelligent crash response system and more. Warranty & Maintenance Coverage All 2024 Jetta GLIs include a maintenance program and a limited new vehicle warranty. Providing scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 20,000 miles – whichever comes first.  Plus 3 years or 36,000 miles of roadside assistance – whichever comes first.  Also, a 4-year 50,000 mile, whichever comes first, new vehicle limited warranty.  And 5 years of remote features through myVW App. iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen   All the latest Volkswagen News HERE

2024 Volkswagen Jetta Review, Prices, Trims Features And Specs

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta carries on the legacy of stylish, fun-to-drive, and practical affordability. Setting it apart from all its non-luxury in-class competitors is merely the fact that it’s a German car affordable to any American.  Jetta’s are immediately recognizable to most drivers, especially 30 years and older.  Because it’s been Volkswagen’s top seller for more than four decades. ⇒ iDriveSoCal’s VW Dealer Is Ontario Volkswagen New For 2024 Volkswagen Jetta Being refreshed in 2022 the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta continues its Euro-stylish-ness.  All Jetta’s are now receiving the German carmakers IQ.Drive driver assistance feature suite standard.  Base-model S trims receive an eco-leather trimmed steering wheel plus a gearshift knob.  Also rain-sensing wiper technology.  Additionally, Sport-trimmed Jetta’s now receive heated front seats. 158 hp & 184 lb-ft of torque Trims And Prices – 2024 VW Jetta Volkswagen likes to group Jetta and its more sporty brethren Jetta GLI in its literature.  However here at iDSC, we prefer to separate the vehicles.  Because there are several differences that we feel are significant enough to warrant the separation. So throughout this article, we’re just talking about the Jetta.  And for 2024 Volkswagen offers it in 4 trim configurations. 2024 VW Jetta Trims & Starting MSRPs: S $21,435 Sport $22,585 SE $24,875 SEL $28,825 Engine, Transmissions & MPG For 2024 VW’s Jetta keeps its 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.  Intercooled and with 16 valves it’s delivering 158 horsepower with 184 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is the only way Jetta comes.  But you have your choice of manual or automatic transmission.  Which, for many drivers, just the idea of three-pedal driving delivers a sense of enjoyment.  Even if you decide to go with the automatic trans. The manual transmission option is a 6-speed.  While the more commonly accessed automatic trans is providing eight gears. Either way, Jetta delivers solid fuel economy.  Depending on your trim and transmission configuration.  Jetta is rated, at the high end, of using 29 miles per gallon in the city.  (That’s with a manual transmission, automatic actually rates better at 30 mpg.)  Then in the best scenario, Jetta sips as little as 41 mpg on the highway.  Combined it’s between 33 and 34 mpg. 2024 Volkswagen Jetta – What’s It Look Like? The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta appears bigger than its compact sedan designation.  And being refreshed in model year 2022 Jetta hasn’t changed much from the past two model years.  Jetta enjoys a comfortably athletic stance with sleek lines. Since Jetta was the top-selling Volkswagen for more than forty years.  It’s quintessentially VW to almost anyone 30 years or older. Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 105.7 Track: front 60.7 rear 60.4 Length 186.5 Width 70.8 Height 57.7 Ground clearance 5.5 *All inches Standard – VW Digital Cockpit Inside The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta Jetta is a compact sedan that seats up to five passengers. Both the S and Sport trims deliver cloth seating surfaces.  While the SE trim gives you leatherette seating surfaces. For real leather seating surfaces you need to bump up to the top-trimmed SEL model.  But that also gives you standard ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel.  Plus 10-color ambient lighting.  Heated front seats come with the SE and SEL.  But only the SEL gives you heated back seats. Accent stitching on the gearshift knob and steering wheel is included with the SE and SEL trims.  But only the top-trim SEL additionally comes with interior accent stitching that’s not available on lower trim levels. A six-way power seat comes with the SE while the SEL gets an 8-way power seat with memory. 41.1″ legroom front, 37.4″ rear Infotainment & Technology Volkswagen’s digital cockpit comes standard across all Jetta trims in 2024.  But you need to go with the top-trimmed SEL to get the Digital Cockpit Pro edition.  That comes with a 10.25-inch display whereas the standard issue version comes with an 8.0-inch display. Bumping up to the top-trimmed SEL also delivers an 8-speaker BeatsAudio system with a subwoofer, wireless app-connect, and wireless charging. When it comes to climate control inside Jetta, both the SE and SEL trims include dual-zone automatic.  Also, both include remote start functionality. Safety & Driver Assistance Volkswagens IQ.Drive is standard in all Jetta trims.  As are most other safety and driver assistance features.  So when it comes to deciding which Jetta trim you want to go with, you probably want to consider other feature categories.  Because Jetta trims are all quite similar with safety and driver assistance technologies. Warranty & Maintenance Coverage All 2024 Jettas include a maintenance program and a limited new vehicle warranty.

2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Review, Prices, Trims, Specs

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Overview The 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport gets a big refresh.  Especially being felt inside the midsize 5-passenger sport utility vehicle, behind the wheel, and within enhanced technology offerings. Arguably the best-looking Volkswagen SUV since the Touareg.  Cross Sport continues delivering exceptional great looks, especially for its price-point. New powertrain, technology, and creature comforts are really where the 2024 Atlas Cross Sport’s refresh is focusing. 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque New For 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Differing from years passed.  VW Atlas Cross Sport is now being offered with a single powertrain.  It’s a new, efficient, and spirited turbo-charged four-cylinder replaying the previous 4 and 6-cylinder options. New creature comforts are now standard.  Including ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and new cabin climate control – VW’s Climatronic.  Plus upgraded interior materials and design. 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport Trims And Pricing For 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is offered in 5 distinct trim configurations.  With the SE options coming in both FWD and AWD.  While the SEL options are fitted with AWD exclusively. Trims & starting MSRPs SE $36,715 w/Tech $40,655 SEL $47,435 R-Line $48,885 Premium R-Line $51,445 Engine, Transmission, And Fuel Economy No matter the trim configuration, all 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sports have a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder – turbocharged 16 valve.  Putting out 269 horsepower with 273 lb-ft of torque.  This increases both torque and acceleration from Cross Sport’s previous engine options. The transmission is standard across trims as well.  It’s a well-paired 8-speed automatic.  Leaving you to decide whether you want a two-wheel or all-wheel drive Atlas Cross Sport.  If two-wheel-drive is your pick then, it will be front-wheel drive.  And AWD in VW-speak refers to 4Motion. With these small differences, fuel economy differs only slightly as well.  With FWD delivering 20/27/23 and AWD 19/26/22 – city/highway/combined. Atlas Cross Sport weighs in with a curb weight of between 4,173 and 4,359 lbs – configuration depending.  While it is capable of towing up to 5,000, regardless of configuration, with a braked trailer. 5-passenger midsize SUV 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport – What’s It Look Like? Depending on your trim configuration, Atlas Cross Sport appears European and athletic.  Or elegant and European.  Also a blend of both elegant and athletic.  It’s Volkswagen for sure.  And just great looking.  With VW sharing DNA with both Audi and Lamborghini Atlas Cross Sport is currently illustrating that lineage best.  Because silhouettes of VW’s Atlas Cross Sport, Audi’s Q8, and Lamborghini’s Urus are very similar. And beyond a great aesthetic footprint, Cross Sport’s proportions are super-appealing. Exterior Dimensions Wheelbase 117.3 Length 195.6/195.5 Height 68.1/67.8 Width 78.3 Track: front 67.0 rear 67.6 Ground clearance 6.3 *All inches – FWD/AWD 41.7″ front/40.4″ rear legroom Inside The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport The two-row five-passenger sport-ute delivers great looks, and feels, inside.  This year’s refresh delivers upgraded interior materials and elegant design enhancements.  Volkswagen’s legendary fit and finish continue to shine through and to no one’s surprise. Lots of automakers are going the route of minimizing vehicle shifting controls.  And in the above picture, you can see VW’s iteration of that.  Going with what looks and feels like a large switch is what luxury automakers, like BMW, are doing.  We’re not sure if we love it.  But it’s cool in the sense of it being different and innovative. Cross Sports spaciousness is something to relish.  Not only is the use of space smart and ergonomic but joyously plentiful.  And that’s not an overstatement.  Especially for backseat passengers who enjoy nearly as much legroom as those in the front seats!  The front seat legroom is 41.7″ and the backseat is 40.4″. Interior Dimensions Headroom 39.4/37.8 Shoulder room 61.5/61.5 Hip room 58.4/58.7 Legroom 41.7/41.6 *All inches Infotainment And Technology Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro is standard across all 2024 Atlas Cross Sport trims.  Replacing the old-school in-dash analog gauges with a 10.25-inch display.  That interfaces with the 12.0-inch touchscreen and allows drivers to customize their view and save their profile for easy future access. Another favorite driver-focused feature, coming standard on all SEL variations is a head-up display.  Plus it has a dynamic road sign displaying right next to your current speed.  And it’s impressively clear – even in bright daylight driving. Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive is standard across all 2024 Cross Sport trims.  Including front assist, active side assist, rear traffic alert, and adaptive cruise with stop and go.  Plus lane assist, travel assist, and emergency assist. Additional driver assistance and safety features are included as standard equipment as you increase in trim. VW Digital Cockpit Warranty And Maintenance Coverage All 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sports include a maintenance program and a limited new vehicle warranty.

2024 Volkswagen Atlas Review, Trims, Specs And Photos

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas enjoys a major refresh.  And with a focus on the interior and creature comforts.  It’s easier to compare this VW to its luxury brand sibling – Audi. Further advancing this midsize three-row SUV’s value proposition is more standard features.  A new more potent engine. And a new timeline. ⇒ Ontario Volkswagen is an iDriveSoCal Official VW Dealer Adding up to an overall package that pushes the boundaries of luxury vehicles while still being priced affordably. New For 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Features being added as standard equipment include creature comforts.  Ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and VW’s IQ.Drive.  That’s Volkswagen’s suite of driver assistance technology. Plus VW simplifies it’s powertrain options by scaling down to one engine.  Previously, Atlas offered a four-cylinder and a V6.  The new engine delivers better acceleration than both its predecessors.  Plus better fuel economy than the six-cylinder. VW Digital Cockpit Pro – standard Trims And Prices – 2024 Volkswagen Atlas With the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas model year comes six different trim configurations. Starting with the base model SE trim with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $37,725.  And the top Atlas trim for 2024 is the SEL Premium R-Line.  That has a starting MSRP of $52,455. 2024 VW Atlas Trims & MSRPs SE $37,725 w/ Technology $41,665 Peak Edition w/ Tech $46,555 SEL $48,445 Peak Edition $50,435 Premium R-Line  $52,455 Engine, Transmissions, And Gas Mileage The 2024 Atlas delivers drivetrain options of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.  And considering the engine is the same across the entire line-up, the fuel economy will vary slightly.  Based on FWD or AWD.  Volkswagen refers to its AWD system as 4Motion. Engine The engine is a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder with 16 valves and turbocharged/intercooled TSI.  Putting out 269 horsepower and 273-pound feet of torque. Transmissions Of the six different trim options front-wheel drive is only offered on the two entry-level 2024 Atlases.  So that’s the SE and the SE with Technology.  Either of those comes in FWD or 4Motion.  But each upline trim is offered only with 4Motion. MPG EPA estimates for the 2024 VW Atlas vary slightly.  By trim and AWD or FWD. The front-wheel drive version will give you 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for a combined 23 mpg. The AWD/4Motion Atlases come in between 18 to 19 mpg in the city and 24 to 26 mpg on the highway for a combined 20 to 22 mpg. Curb Weight The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas curb weight depends on configuration a bit.  But the big factor is FWD or 4Motion. So, the 4Motion Atlas is a bit heavier with a curb weight of 4,517 pounds.  Whereas the FWD Atlas weighs in at 4,343 lbs. Towing Capacity When it comes time to drag your stuff around Atlas is capable.  Though it’s more commonly being used as a hauler of people. The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas can tow up to 5,000 lbs, with a braked trailer.  Rather than one without brakes. 269 hp 273 lb-ft of torque 2024 VW Atlas – What’s It Look Like? Aside from the newly added rugged-looking Peak Edition, the 2024 Atlas looks nearly identical to its last model year. And that’s unmistakably Volkswagen.  But bold and athletic.  All the more so with the Peak Edition.  With a more off-road and outdoorsy feel to its design accents. Depending on the trim you roll with.  Atlas has a sharp selection of wheel options.  Ranging in size from 18-inch 5-spoke machined alloys which come standard on the base SE model.  Up to the SEL Premium R-Line sporting 21-inch two-tone machined alloys. And size-wise Atlas is really everything you want in a 3-row midsize SUV.  Looks big on the outside.  Feels big on the inside.  But drives smaller, more agile, and easily slides in and out of tight spaces. Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 117.3 Length 200.7 Height 70.4 Width 78.3 Track front 67.0 rear 67.6 Ground clearance 6.3 *All inches Atlas is slightly larger than its Volkswagen sibling SUV.  The similarly named Atlas Cross Sport. Whereas the Atlas 3-row midsize.  The Atlas Cross Sport is a 2-row midsize SUV. The exterior difference is apparent when looking at the profile of the vehicle.  Because Cross Sport has a sloping rear roofline. Inside the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Inside the 2024 Atlas is where the refresh is really apparent.  Because there’s a new highly scaled-down shifter on the center stack.  You could almost call it a large switch.  And it pairs with a push button for entering park mode. The center stack is cleanly designed.  Dominated by a large touchscreen that controls climate and much more.  It’s a 12-inch touchscreen across all trims. Also, under the center stack is a great open storage space.  Easily accessible from the cockpit or front passenger seating position. We spend the most time with the interior of our vehicles.  And that’s where Volkswagen’s legendary fit and finish shine.  Especially with this newly redesigned Atlas interior. It’s big and spacious inside.  Quality feels to the touch surfaces.  A flat-bottom steering wheel that’s heated but also has paddle shifters – again, across all trims. And with three rows of seating, precise German engineering comes in extra handy.  Because opening access to the third row of seats means flipping and stowing the 2-second row.  Quickly and temporarily.  And you can do that with ease in Atlas. 2023 Volkswagen Golf R Review, Prices, Features, Specs and Pics

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Overview The 2023 Volkswagen Golf R is the hottest hatch driving the German carmaker’s lineup. Taking the original hot hatch, the VW GTI, to the next level.  All-wheel drive performance including drift mode.  Golf R is ready to be taken to the nearest track – straight from the dealer lot.  However, we do suggest breaking in the motor before getting too crazy.  But you get the idea. ⇒ Ontario VW is iDriveSoCal’s Volkswagen Dealer On the practical side, it seats four and delivers cargo space to boot.  But the automotive enthusiast is this ride’s primary target. 315 hp w/ drift mode New For 2023 Volkswagen Golf R While the Golf nameplate is in its 8th generation, aka Mk8 in VW-speak.  Delivering the 5th iteration of the Golf ‘R’ was completely redesigned for 2022. So the 2023 Volkswagen Golf R is similar to 2022.  With the big new offering being a limited edition 20th Anniversary Edition Golf R. 2023 Volkswagen Golf R Trims And Pricing The 2023 Volkswagen Golf R is rolling in two different trim options.  They’re both quite similar in everything but cosmetic detail. Which is something that Volkswagen is known for doing with their various nameplates and model years.  But the cool thing is, down the line in your ownership of the vehicle.  Those special anniversary editions can attract better resale values over time. 2023 VW Golf R trims & starting MSRPs Golf R $44,740 20th Anniversary Edition $45,390 Engine And Transmissions Focusing on performance, as the Golf R always does, there’s a single powerplant under the hood.  Regardless of the trim. It’s a powerful 2.0-liter inline turbocharged/intercooled TSI four-cylinder.  Cranking out 315 horsepower and either 280 or 295 pound-feet of torque.  What’s the difference?  Transmission. The 2023 VW Golf R’s torque depends on the transmission you go with.  Because manual transmission delivers 280 lb-ft of torque.  While the automatic transmission bumps up to the 295 lb-ft. Which to go with?  When it comes to automatic versus manual.  Our preference, and most who really love driving, go with manual transmission.  But the Golf R has practical applications.  So, you might want to go automatic.  For example; if you’re planning to sit in traffic congestion with any type of regularity.  Then you might want to lean toward automatic. 2023 VW Golf R Performance Features With 315 hp and at least 280 lb-ft of torque you’re packing power and ability to perform.  But you get more to help that cause. Including R-Performance 4MOTION all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.  Optional driving modes include drift!  Variable-ratio electro-mechanical power steering.  Four-wheel independent suspension. Plus stopping power to match the power to get you going.  That’s vented front disc brakes.  With two-piece cross-drilled rotors.  And vented rear disc brakes. Automatic or manual transmission Fuel Economy Ratings While fuel economy probably isn’t a top consideration for most Golf R shoppers.  Buyers can rest assured that they’re getting solid fuel efficiency.  Along with killer performance.  So if you’re looking for reasons to justify the Golf R.  Great MPG is a reason to add in your plus column! MPG Ratings Manual 20/28/23 Automatic 23/30/26 *city/highway/combined When it comes to the curb weight of the 2023 Volkswagen Golf R, she’s on the lighter side of passenger vehicles.  Which is what you’d expect from a smaller sportier car.  But there are many small cars that are lighter. Depending on your configuration there’s a difference.  Manual transmission weighs in at 3,404 pounds.  And automatic trans bumps up to 3,481 lbs. Heads-up display – standard 2023 Volkswagen Golf R – What Does It Look Like? The 2023 Golf R looks nearly exactly like the last model year.  Except for the 20th Anniversary Edition.  Which has special badging and tagging inside and out. But generally, it’s a bold and beautiful four-door hatchback.  Athletic and sitting low to the ground.  With a wider-looking stance in front than in the back.  However, that rear stance optically deceives due to the hatchback roofline.  Which ends at a much higher point than a sedan or fastback roofline. Exterior dimensions Wheelbase 103.5 Track: front 60.7 rear 59.7 Length 168.9 Width 70.4 Height 57.7 Ground clearance 4.7 *All inches Inside The 2023 Volkswagen Golf R A sporty cockpit focusing on the driver’s experience highlights the interior of the 2023 VW Golf R. Normally we comment on Volkswagen’s attention to detail in the two ‘f’s.’  That’s the fit and finish.  It’s especially noted in the Golf R but we’ll add one more ‘f’ – fun.  Because just looking inside the Golf R makes you want to get behind the wheel and go. Ambient lighting accenting is adjustable but the cool blue we find most pleasing.  And that’s both functional and a bit just for fun too. Nappa leather seating surfaces and wrapped steering wheel help keep things cool too. Interior dimensions Headroom 38.5/38.1 Shoulder room 55.9/53.9 Hip room 53.4/46.3 Legroom 41.2/35.0 *All inches – 1st/2nd rows And inside is also where the practicality of the Golf R comes into play.  Because it’s performance-focused for sure.  But with four doors and cargo space, it’s a family car too! With the rear seats folded down, the Golf R delivers 34.5 cubic feet of cargo space.  And even when the rear seats are in use there’s 19.9 cu-ft to work with. Digital Cockpit Pro – standard Infotainment And Connectivity And when it comes to tech features, the Golf R shines with a slew of fun stuff standard.  Starting with the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro.  Which includes a 10.23-inch instrument display.  With a setting that can be configured to your liking and saved in numerous profiles. Wireless smartphone connectivity and charging.  Heads-up display for serious driving and keeping your eyes glued through the windshield. Plus Volkswagen’s connected car application – Car-Net is included.  With 5 years of free service. Safety And Driver-Assistance The Golf R is referred to by Volkswagen as its halo performance vehicle.  It makes sense that all the driver assistance and safety features are being packed in as standard. Including Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive, front assist with emergency braking.  Blindspot monitoring, adaptive cruise, automatic post-collision braking.  Also, dynamic road sign display, park distance control, lane keep assist, and a lot more. Ontario VW drives iDriveSoCal Warranty And Maintenance Coverage Volkswagen includes two years, or 20,000 miles, of scheduled maintenance with every Golf R. Additionally three years, or 36,000 miles, or roadside assistance. Along with four years, or 50,000 miles, of its limited new vehicle warranty.   All the latest Volkswagen News HERE.

2023 Volkswagen Arteon Review, Prices, Trims, Specs And Photos

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Overview As its flagship sedan, the 2023 Volkswagen Arteon checks all the boxes – and then some.  Because the midsize Arteon delivers styling and features normally found only in luxury branded vehicles.  Topping that with Arteon’s recently increased engine size, horsepower, and performance.  You have a hard-to-resist driving experience for anyone shopping for a midsize sedan. And that’s whether you’re considering a sports sedan, luxury, or reasonably practical yet stylish daily driver. ⇒ Check out Ontario VW Arteon Inventory New For 2023 Volkswagen Arteon For 2023 VW is giving Arteon a few new aspects.  But this is after the big improvement from 2022 and that was the increased 300 hp engine. Niceties being added for 2023 are mostly cosmetic.  Although functional as well.  Including lower trims receiving LED headlights, front foglights, and an adaptive front cornering light system.  Also a cool illuminated light bar on the front grille.    Plus a heated steering wheel, and a dynamic road sign display. Bumping up to the top trim, the SEL Premium R-Line, cool 20-inch wheels replace the formerly standard 19s.  With coolness inside as well.  Including a black carbon trim interior and ambient lighting complete with 30 different color options. 300hp/295 lb-ft of torque 2023 Volkswagen Arteon Trims And Pricing The 2023 Volkswagen Arteon comes in three trim options.  And these are the same trims offered last year.  With starting prices ticking up slightly on the lower two trims.  While the top trim’s factory suggested starting price comes down slightly. 2023 VW Arteon trims & starting MSRPs SE R-Line $43,010 SEL R-Line $47,180 SEL Premium R-Line $50,175 Engine And Transmission Keeping it simple in the engine and transmission department, VW is offering a single engine and transmissions.  But two options for the drivetrain. We’re loving the engine.  It’s a quick 2.0L inline four-cylinder.  Turbocharged with 16 valves, putting out 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.  And this leaves you the option of front-wheel drive or VW’s all-wheel drive, 4Motion.  Then interfacing with both of those is a 7-speed automatic transmission. So, which drivetrain to go with you ask?  We don’t really have a strong opinion either way.  Because we like them both, plenty.  Front-wheel drive is a bit more fuel efficient while feeling and being plenty sturdy under the driver.  Whereas 4Motion is a bit more sturdy under the driver. If we had to choose, we’d go AWD.  But we’d be happy to have either one in the driveway. Fuel Economy Ratings With the same engine and transmission, Arteon’s fuel economy ratings are similar to one another.  So when it comes to real-world mpg you’re hardly going to notice a difference. MPG Ratings FWD 25/28/33 AWD 22/25/31 *City/combined/highway Arteon’s curb weight fluctuates depending on the configuration.  FWD delivers a curb weight of 3,677 lbs.  While the AWD/4Motion version weighs in at 3,929 lbs. Length 191.5/wheelbase 111.9/width 73.7 – inches 2023 Volkswagen Arteon – What’s It Look Like? Style is a leading factor in Arteon’s appeal.  Aesthetically, the midsize gran turismo styling of Arteon is distinctly European.  While it also closely affiliates the look of its much pricier Audi luxury brand. Every trim option is beautiful, bold, and classy.  But sporty too.  And depending on your Arteon’s configuration you can lean into any of the aforementioned styles.  Sweeping lines, a bold stance, and appealing curves.  Arteon looks every bit the flagship that it’s intended to represent. Exterior dimensions Wheelbase 111.9 Track: front 62.5 rear 62.1 Length 191.5 Width 73.7 Height 56.8 to 56.9 Ground clearance 5.1 to 5.2 *All inches SE R-Line cockpit Inside The 2023 Volkswagen Arteon Volkswagen holds little back with Arteon’s interior.  Delivering the brand’s legendary fit and finish comes automatically.  Adding a great use of space, creature comforts, and styling emphasizes its flagship status.  Haptic touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel and in the center stack.  Manage tri-zone cabin climate.  Even backseat passengers have the availability to adjust their climate. Standard 12-way, heated front seats with leatherette surfaces.  Leather seating plus both heated and ventilated front seats are available.  Also available is heated rear outboard seating.  Even massaging seats are being announced for Arteon although VW’s stating ‘later availability’ on that feature. Interior dimensions Headroom 37.7/37.0 Shoulder room 56.5/54.7 Hip room 54.3/46.5 Legroom 41.2/40.2 *All inches – front/rear With Arteon being a hatchback the cargo capacity is an extra added selling point.  Because there’s ample room for your stuff.  With the backseats up and in use Arteon provides 27.2 cubic feet of storage space.  Folding the backseats down delivers 56.2 cu-ft of storage. Digital Cockpit Pro – standard Infotainment And Connectivity Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro is standard across all 2023 Arteon trims.  Replacing in-dash analog instrumentation with a  monitor that can be configured for the driver’s preferences.  Including the ability to save multiple driver profiles.  Also standard throughout Arteon configurations is wireless app-connect, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging, voice control, and an 8-speaker sound system.  When going with the SEL Premium R-Line trim a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon premium sound system is added. Safety And Driver-Assistance Being the flagship sedan, Arteon is packed with the latest driver assistance and safety technology VW offers. Including forward collision warning and emergency braking with pedestrian monitoring.  Blindspot monitoring, rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise, lane assist, and more.  Even parking steering assist is available as well as overhead head camera tech. Engine And Transmission Regardless of the Equinox you choose, the same engine and transmission is being added for 2023.  But the decision you’re still having to make is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. So the engine is a spirited 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.  Putting out 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque.  And it’s paired with an efficient and smooth six-speed automatic. This leaves you to decide if you want FWD or AWD for your drivetrain.  And both are available across all trims.  But either way, you are able to tow up to 1,500 lbs with Equinox. Fuel Economy Ratings MPG is solid for the 2023 Equinox.  With the EPA estimates reporting respectable fuel economy metrics across both optional drivetrains. The Chevrolet Equinox is sharp looking for 2023.  And it was hard to state as much just a few years back.  However, that sort-of humdrum look has been shed.  And Equinox is in line with the rest of the Chevrolet crossover SUV lineup. In any configuration, it’s a good-looking vehicle.  And since Chevy sells so many Equinox SUVs there are many options to make it look the way you want.  Or maybe it’s the many options that help Chevy sell so many of the compact crossovers.  Either way, if you want a more classy and luxury-looking crossover – Equinox has you covered.  Likewise, if you’re aiming for a more athletic and sporty-looking SUV – yep, Equinox delivers there too. Exterior dimensions Wheelbase 107.3 Length 183.1 Width 72.6 Height 65.4 Track: front 62.2 rear 62.2 Ground clearance 7.6 to 8.0 *All inches RS and LT trims receive a power liftgate as standard equipment.  And hands-free power liftgate is standard on with Premier trim Inside The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox Equinox has a spacious and smartly appointed interior.  It feels more like a midsize than a compact inside.  And higher level trim configurations provide surprisingly upscale materials and designs. 2023 Volkswagen Taos Review, Prices, Trims, Specs And Photos

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Overview The 2023 Volkswagen Taos rolls into its second model year.  And maybe it’s just us.  Because we’re paying close attention.  But it feels like the subcompact five-seat crossover SUV has been around longer. Sporty and bold.  Classy and sophisticated.  Affordable and practical.  These are all accurate descriptions of VW’s smallest available SUV. ⇒ Check out Ontario VW Taos Inventory Subcompact 5-seat crossover SUV New For 2023 Volkswagen Taos Taos comes in three trims and each one of them gets more content for 2023.  Coming standard across all trims is VW’s front assist, blind spot monitor, and rear traffic alert.  The S trim, the base model with 4Motion, gets 18-inch wheels.  While the SE trim receives driver assistance tech standard – VW’s IQ.Drive.  And the top trimmed SEL gets a standard panoramic sunroof added. 2023 Volkswagen Taos Trims And Pricing We continue loving Volkswagen’s straightforward trims and pricing.  Sure you can still spec out your Taos how you like.  But Volkswagen has a habit of thoughtfully adding features to each trim level.  And in a logical fashion. 2023 VW Taos trims & starting MSRPs S $24,155 SE $28,925 SEL $34,535 Engines And Transmissions Keeping it easy and straightforward.  Volkswagen plants the same power into each Taos.  And with similar transmissions. It’s a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.  Putting out 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. For the transmissions, they’re both smoothing shifting automatics.  The front-wheel drive Taos gets an 8-speed automatic.  And the all-wheel-drive gets a 7-speed auto. So that leaves you with the decision of FWD or AWD.  And in the case of Volkswagen, AWD is called 4Motion. Fuel Economy Ratings Taos delivers the expected and respectable fuel economy for an internal combustion engine subcompact crossover SUV.  With EPA ratings between 25 and 32 mpg. MPG Rating FWD 28/31/36 AWD 25/28/32 *City/combined/highway The curb weight for the 2023 Volkswagen Taos depends on your configuration.  But it’s coming in between 3,181 and 3,437 lbs. 158 hp/184 lb-ft torque 2023 Volkswagen Taos – What’s It Look Like? Taos looks unmistakably like a European crossover SUV.  And like the rest of the Volkswagen crossover sport-ute lineup, a quick glance can be deceiving.  Because that can and does leave you thinking Audi.  This is a nice compliment because that’s Volkswagen’s luxury sibling.  And always costs an easy 30% more across all comparisons – minimum. With that said the 2023 Volkswagen Taos looks like a small Volkswagen crossover sport-ute.  Because, like almost every carmaker these days, the SUVs they’re making are small, medium, and large versions of one another.  And in some cases, both extra small and extra large too. Exterior dimensions Wheelbase 105.9 to105.5 Track: front 61.8 to 61.9 rear 60.9 to 60.5 Length 175.8 Width 72.5 Height 65.4 to 65.1 Ground clearance 6.4 to 7.6 *All inches Inside The 2023 Volkswagen Taos Taos seats up to 5 passengers in its two rows of seating.  And inside Taos is where Volkswagen’s engineering is often most appreciated.  Because that’s when drivers and passengers are closest to it.  And for the longest periods of time.  So unlike gazing at the outside, we get to experience the inside to a much greater degree. And VW’s fit and finish are remarkable.  Even in the subcompact Taos.  From the materials being used to the intersections of them, it’s reliably solid. For example, even the inside of the center console of the Taos we test-drove had a smooth finish with quality materials.  And that is attention to detail we love. Interior dimensions Headroom 40.7/39.8 Shoulder room 56.5/55.2 Legroom 40.1/37.9 *All inches front/rear Cargo volume for the 2023 VW Taos comes in at a highly respectable 27.9 cubic feet with the backseats up.  And folding those backseats down delivers 65.9 cu ft.  Plenty of space for all your stuff in this subcompact crossover sport-ute. SE trim interior – black leatherette & cloth Infotainment And Connectivity Leading Taos in its technology department is Volkswagen’s digital cockpit.  Replacing traditional in-dash analog instrumentation, it takes your driving experience to the next level.  And it’s standard across all three trims.  However Digital Cockpit Pro rolls only in the top-trim SEL version.  And that includes all the configuration capabilities plus a bump up from an 8-inch to a 10″ center stack display. Wireless app connections are standard only on the top two trims – SE and SEL.  But well worth it in our opinion.  And if you’re an audiophile you might want to go with the SEL trim.  Because that gets you BeatsAudio premium sound with 8 speakers.  Whereas the SE and S trims are delivering 6 and 4 speakers respectively. Up to 36 mpg Safety And Driver-Assistance Volkswagen is including and offering many driver assistance and safety features that are becoming the norm for carmakers.  Such as blind spot monitoring, parking distance control, light assist, and dynamic road sign display.  But also rear traffic alert, front assist, emergency and travel assistance, and more. For the full reporting on Tao’s results in crash testing go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.  Also, refer to the  Insurance Institute for Highway Safety website. Warranty And Maintenance Coverage Volkswagen includes two years, or 20,000 miles, of scheduled maintenance with every Taos.  Additionally three years, or 36,000 miles, or roadside assistance.  Along with four years, or 50,000 miles, of its limited new vehicle warranty.   All the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

Volkswagen ID.7 EV Sedan – Midsize Coming To America

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The Volkswagen ID.7 EV sedan is rolling out. And what VW is calling the ‘upper’ midsize sedan class hits initial markets soon.  Fall of 2023 to be exact. Ontario Volkswagen is iDriveSoCal’s Southern California VW Dealer Being recently announced worldwide.  VW is calling ID.7 a global product.  And it’s joining the ID.4 and ID.Buzz in being USA made.  That’s taking place at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga, Tennesse campus. 300+ miles of range Brand Halos – VW ID.7 EV Sedan And ID.Buzz VW is calling its all-new electric sedan one of its brand halos.  That along with the highly anticipated electric minivan, the ID.Buzz. While the ID.Buzz leans on the brand’s iconic and world-renowned microbus heritage.  The Volkswagen ID.7 EV sedan leans on the brand’s heritage of making quality affordable four-door passenger cars. 15″ infotainment touchscreen What’s The Volkswagen ID.7 EV Sedan Look Like? The ID.7 is based on Volkswagen’s MEB (modular electric drive matrix) platform.  As is the brand’s ID.4 which is a crossover SUV. Being based on the same platform there are exterior similarities.  And in this case, many. So the ID.7 is sleeker and appears more stretched out in comparison to ID.4.  ID.7 is a fastback that’s athletic and aerodynamic looking. Volkswagen has yet to release exact specifications for ID.7. But referring to the EV as an upper midsize class.  As well as a brand halo.  Indicates that the ID.7 is likely Volkswagen’s largest EV sedan on the drawing board. MEB platform provides maximum interior space VW ID.7 Interior The skateboard-like MEB platform was designed with EVs in mind.  Placing the electric vehicle battery and its weight across the length and width of the vehicle and between the axles. Allowing for maximum use of interior space. So while we don’t yet have exact ID.7 specifications.  It seems safe to state that there’s ample interior space for five passengers.  And that the interior space will carry Volkswagen’s legendary fit and finish forward. Between the hatch/fastback design and the MEB platform, we expect a cavernous cargo area.  Especially when folding down the backseats. ID.7 Technology And Innovation Also, Volkswagen is announcing that the ID.7 is pushing that brand forward with new technology and innovations. Overall Volkswagen is calling ID.7’s interior premium and it certainly appears that’s a fair description.  With pinhole leather or leather-like surfaces and badging.  As well as a minimalist yet elegant appearance. 15″ Touchscreen So the primary driver interface for the electric vehicle is the 15-inch touchscreen.  That sits in the center stack position. And it builds on the success of similar interfaces in previous Volkswagen EVs. Heads-Up Display Then there’s a heads-up display that looks magnificent in a promotional video being released by Volkswagen.  Because it’s crystal clear, full color, and tough to imagine a better display. Minimal In-Dash Driver Information Traditionally instrumentation is loaded into the dashboard in front of the driver.  But ID.7 does away with that.  Leaving just a small monitor with what VW refers to as just the necessary info in drivers’ view. Memory Climate Ventilation Another tech innovation in ID.7 is Volkswagen’s memory ventilation functionality.  Smart vents are similar to memory seats.  Both driver and passenger ventilation direction settings can be saved with different profiles.  Making it simple to reset them when needed. Proximity Cabin Climatizing Additionally, ID.7 recognizes when drivers approach the vehicle.  And it can begin cooling or heating the vehicle’s interior accordingly. ID.7 Range And Performance With rear-wheel drive, the Volkswagen ID.7 EV sedan is reporting more than 300 miles of range.  And that’s thanks in part to the aerodynamic design and MEB platform. Drag Coefficient The drag coefficient is a statistic that’s referred to more and more with electric vehicles.  And the Volkswagen ID.7 EV sedan’s drag coefficient is .23. How that will equate to the vehicle driving performance is a to-be-determined factor.  Because there’s still much we don’t know.  Like the power and number of electric motors ID.7 will have and more. 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Compact SUV – 3 Row Option

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan delivers stylishly good looks.  A spacious and well-designed interior.  Plus a spirited experience behind the wheel. Adding, impressive technology and creature comforts create a solid value proposition.  Making the SUV a must-test drive for anyone shopping for a compact. And Tiguan offers something most compacts in its class do not.  An optional third row of seating.  Accommodating up to seven passengers. ⇒ iDSC’s VW dealer is Ontario Volkswagen! 2023 VW Tiguan Top-3: Styling Interior Driving 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine What’s New For 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan? The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is marking the second model year since being refreshed.  Bringing this model year’s Tiguan four trim options.  Plus minor aesthetic tweaks.  And, for the SE R-Line Black trim, new 19-inch wheels. Trim Options And MSRPs Available trims for the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan are as follows.  The base model S trim starts at a $26,950 manufacturer-suggested retail price. 2023 VW Tiguan trims & pricing S $26,950 SE $30,580 SE R-Line Black $33,310 SEL R-Line $37,680 *All prices starting MSRP – plus $1,295 destination One of the things we like about Volkswagen as a brand.  Is that the carmaker tends to equip its various trims with most of its available options.  So you still have options to select after picking your trim.  But VW equips their trims nicely.  Simplifying the buying process. Engines And Transmissions For the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan, the engine and transmission options are simple. Because, no matter what trim, there’s a single engine.  And when it comes to the trans.  You need only select from two-wheel or all-wheel drive. For Tiguan, two-wheel drive is front-wheel drive.  While, in the Volkswagen family, all-wheel drive is called 4MOTION. So the engine is a peppy 2.0L inline four-cylinder.  It’s turbocharged and puts out 184 horsepower with 221 pound-feet of torque.  And the transmission is a smooth and spirited 8-speed automatic. Fuel Economy, Curb Weight, And Towing When it comes to MPG, Tiguan is a respectable player in the compact SUV segment.  With an overall EPA estimated range for all configurations of between 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan’s curb weight pushes the scales between 3,737 and 3,821 depending on your configuration.  With 4MOTION AWD being the heavier option. But regardless of configuration, Volkswagen’s Tiguan has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque What’s The 2023 VW Tiguan Look Like? The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is extremely difficult to differentiate from its previous model year.  But that’s great because, with that year’s refresh, Tiguan has never looked better. An athletic stance from the front and rear.  Compliments a clearly European and Volkswagen profile and badging.  Plus exceptionally clean lines silhouette the three-quarter views.  Both in the front and the rear. Exterior Dimensions Wheelbase 109.9 Length 186.1 Width 72.4 Track: front 62.2 rear 61.9 Height 66.4/66.5 Ground clearance 7.4/7.6 *All inches – FWD/AWD where applicable. Inside The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Sliding into the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is both easy and a pleasure. Because while it’s considered a compact SUV, it’s big inside.  With Volkswagen’s ever-present attention to fit and finish detail.  Along with great usage of space. And Tiguan’s optional 3-rows of seating to accommodate up to 7 passengers is hard to find in compact SUVs.  Younger kids are perfect for that third row.  Or smaller adults for short drives. Interior Dimensions 3-Row Tiguan Headroom w/ sunroof 38.2/37.7/33.8 Headroom w/o sunroof 39.6/39.1/33.8 Shoulder room 57.0/55.9/47.8 Hip room 54.5/53.5/39.5 Legroom 40.2/36.6/27.9 2-Row Tiguan Headroom w/ sunroof 38.2/37.9 Headroom w/o sunroof 39.6/38.9 Shoulder room 57.0/55.8 Hip room 54.5/53.7 Legroom 40.2/38.7 *All inches – front/second/third rows Up to 73.4 cubic feet of cargo space And with the backseat or backseats (if you opt for 3 rows) folded down.  The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan provides up to 73.4 cubic feet of cargo space. Huge available panoramic sunroof Infotainment And Driver Assist Tech Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit is standard across all Tiguan trims.  With an 8-inch infotainment display topping the center stack for all but the top trim. Because the SEL R-Line model gets upgraded to a 10.25-inch touchscreen.  Also, that comes with the ‘Pro’ version of VW’s Digital Cockpit. Also with that top trim is a Fender Premium Audio system.  Which music lovers in all Tiguan seating rows appreciate.  480-watt, 12-channel amp powers nine speakers including a Bassman subwoofer and more. IQ.Drive Then there’s IQ.Drive, Volkswagen suite of driver assistance and safety tech features. Including forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.  Blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and semi-automated driving assist. There’s also available park distance control and parking steering assistance.  Overhead camera and dynamic road display.  Plus many more features to make driving easier and safer. Evidencing Volkswagen’s overall attention to safety.  Tiguan receives a Top Safety Pick+ designation.  That’s from the universally recognized IIHS.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Top-3 Styling – Sure, it’s similar to 2022.  But that was a refresh.  And a fantastic one at that.  Styling, in this case still rocks! Interior – VW’s attention to detail.  The fit and finish are always appreciated by drivers and passengers alike. Driving – Tiguan is a compact SUV.  And while it’s easy to drive it also delivers a sense of security and fun! iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen   All the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

2023 Volkswagen Atlas Midsize 3-Row SUV

Episode in iDriveSoCal
Volkswagen’s midsize Atlas is a 3-row SUV.  Seating up to 7 the 2023 Atlas is big inside.  But it’s not too big to easily drive. And yes, adults can make use of the third row of seating.  Which is not the norm in the segment. ⇒ Our Southern California VW Dealer is Ontario Volkswagen 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Top-3: Styling Interior Technology New For 2023 Volkswagen Atlas The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is being offered in five trims. Nearly all of them come standard with Volkswagen’s Digitial Cockpit Pro.  And that’s with the 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. Trims & Starting Prices So the five trims for the 2023 Atlas can be considered two different main trims with optional packages. For a 3-row midsize SUV that’s a solid driver and sporty or classy looking no matter what.  We think it’s a great value regardless of the trim you select. 2023 VW Atlas Trims & MSRPs: SE $35,150 w/ Technology $39,320 SEL $44,940 R-Line Black $48,640 Premium R-Line $52,340 *All starting MSRPs We like how Volkswagen keeps the trim packages fairly tight in what each includes.  You still have configuration options but they’re pretty basic.  For example, when configuring the Premium R-Line you can add captain seats, cargo bars on the roof, and a cargo box.  Plus other similar options Engines, Transmissions & MPG The 2023 Atlas rolls with two different engines.  Having driven both they each have benefits.  So there’s an inline 4-cylinder and a V6. First the inline 4-cylinder.  It’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter that puts out 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.  This feels like it could have slightly quicker off-the-line acceleration.  And it gets slightly better gas mileage. Then there’s the 3.6L 6-cylinder.  Delivering 276 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque.  It’s capable of towing more than double the weight of the 4-cylinder.  But delivers slightly less fuel efficiency. Transmission Both engines are paired with a smooth shifting, and efficient, 8-speed automatic transmission. Your option in this category is whether to go with front-wheel-drive or Volkswagen’s all-wheel drive.  VW’s all-wheel-drive system is called 4Motion. Fuel Economy Again, when it comes to fuel economy, there’s only a slight difference.  And how the MPG of the different drivetrains and engines breakdown. EPA Estimated MPG: 2.0L 4-cylinder FWD 21/23/25 4MotionD 20/22/24 3.6L 6-cylinder FWD 18/20/24 4Motion 10/20/23 *All city/combined/highway When it comes to curb weight for the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas, it depends on configuration.  On the low-end Atlas will weigh 4,255 and go up to 4,595 lbs. And towing capacity is where you might find a deciding factor in engine selection.  Because the inline 4-cylinder drags up to 2,000 lbs.  But with the 3.6L 6-cylinder, towing capacity jumps to 5,000 lbs. Up to 25 MPG What’s 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Look Like? Volkswagen’s Atlas is a great looking sport ute no matter which of the trim options you select. Sure the base model is more subdued.  And the SEL R-Lines take it to the next level.  But the lines of the SUV are sleek and bold from every angle. It’s European-looking and undeniably Volkswagen branded.  But a quick highway glance might leave you thinking you’ve spotted an Audi.  And you would be the first to think that.  Not by a long shot. Exterior Dimensions Wheelbase 117.3 Length 200.7 Height 70.1 Width 78.3  Track: Front 67.0 Rear 67.6 Ground clearance 7.1 *All inches Max. cargo volume 96.8 cu-ft Inside 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Inside the midsize Volkswagen Atlas is perhaps where the vehicle really sets itself in a class of its own.  Because the use of space might be unparalleled. Volkswagen’s always been known for paying attention to fit and finish details.  Making sure everything comes together accurately.  Firm surface joints and the like. But it’s not only the cabin construction but also the engineering of space.  People are comfortable in all three rows.  And when you remove people, fold seats down to make cargo space.  There’s lots of it.   And easy to use. And if you’re desire is to have a giant sunroof.  Volkswagen offers a panoramic option that nearly takes up the entire roof. Interior Dimensions: Headroom 41.3/40.4/38.3 Legroom 41.7/37.6/33.7 Shoulder room 61.5/60.8/54.9 Hip room 58.2/58.0/45.1 *All inches And the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas provides ample cargo area.  With a cargo capacity of 20.6 cubic feet behind the 3rd row of seats.  Then 55.5 cu-ft behind the second row.  And with both rows of backseats folded down, there’s a whopping 96.8 cu-ft. Digital Cockpit Pro standard on most trims Infotainment Technology & Safety As mentioned above Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit Pro comes standard in nearly all trims. And that technology is ahead of its time.  Because all carmakers are going that route.  But for a non-luxury to already be there is impressive. Digital Cockpit Pro VW’s Digital Cockpit Pro replaces analog instrumentation in the dash with a digital monitor.  And that monitor is completely configurable based on the driver’s preference at the time.  It pairs with a 10.25″ infotainment touchscreen on the center stack.  Providing countless configuration options. You can opt to have your navigation display between gauges among numerous other configs.  Plus you can program and save various drive profiles. IQ.Drive The 2023 Atlas comes with Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite of driver safety features.  The higher-level trims provide most safety features within IQ.Drive.  Including features like the area overhead camera view, parking steering assistance and more. 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Top-3 Styling – Great looking, Audi-esque, Euro-styling, and great value pricing. Interior – Big inside, loads of space for passengers and cargo alike. Technology – VW’s Digital Cockpit Pro on nearly every trim.  Plus IQ.Drive tech features.   iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen   Get the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

Engines, Transmissions & Fuel Economy Chevrolet offers two different 3-cylinder engines in its 2023 Trailblazer.  That’s right.  One, two, three-cylinders. Depending on the configuration it weighs in between 4,189 and 4,409 lbs. FWD or AWD fuel efficiency What’s The 2023 Chevy Trailblazer Look Like? Trailblazer punches above its weight class when it comes to style. Reminiscent of the entire Chevy lineup now.  Looking back, when it was first rolling off assembly lines, it was signally Chevy’s design direction. And that’s undeniably attractive.  Sporty, athletic, and yet still Chevrolet by all appearances.  Perhaps one of Trailblazer’s most telling aesthetics is its white roof. Exterior Dimensions: Wheelbase 103.9 Length 173.5 Height 65.2 to 65.7 Width 71.2 Track: Front 61.2 Rear 61.3 Ground clearance 7.5 * All inches. As a subcompact, Trailblazer is easy to maneuver.  Especially in congested traffic settings or tight parking areas. But it’s still spacious inside. Up to 54.4 cu-ft of cargo space Inside The 2023 Chevy Trailblazer Trailblazer’s interior is well laid out as well as spacious.  Notably for a subcompact crossover. Chevy’s been doing a great job throughout its lineup with the user interface of its cockpits.  And Trailblazer follows suit. In addition to fold-flat backseats.  Chevy offers a fold-flat front seat creating even more space.  Providing the capability to haul objects up to 8.5 feet long. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Infotainment And Safety Technology As mentioned at the top of this article.  Technology is a leading factor to go with the 2023 Trailblazer.  Even though that didn’t quite make it into our Top-3 this year. Because aside from the cargo space-making technology and smooth shifting multiple-drive modes.  Trailblazer has and can be optioned with ample infotainment and safety tech. Topping our list in those categories include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  Also Chevy Safety Assist suite of safety features. Finally, the 2022 model year of Trailblazer receives a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS – the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer Top-3 Styling – Trailblazer is great looking.  Especially for a subcompact crossover.  Sporty and athletic in every trim. Best Volkswagen SUV – My Pick And How To Select Yours

Episode in iDriveSoCal
When it comes to the best Volkswagen SUV the competition is tight! And whether you are leasing or buying the European car maker is offering some compelling sport-ute options. Pondering which one is the best of them all is logical.  But it’s also subjective.  Because mine is one of the countless opinions. ⇒ Your SoCal VW Dealer is Ontario Volkswagen! To clarify, driving all Volkswagen SUVs many times gives me some authority.  However, first I want to share how you can easily pick the best Volkswagen SUV for your needs. Then I’ll drive you to my conclusion as to which Volkswagen SUV is best – in my opinion. –>Continue Reading Below And Click/Tap To Listen<– Deciding The Best Volkswagen SUV For You Factors in picking your best Volkswagen SUV. Family, couple, or single? Who’s driving and how? City or country driving? What’s your parking situation? The entire Volkswagen SUV lineup. Taos – subcompact Tiguan – compact ID.4 – compact Atlas Cross Sport – midsize Atlas – midsize My opinion of the best Volkswagen SUV. Factors In Picking Your Best Volkswagen SUV So you want to determine the best Volkswagen SUV for your life stage and situation. Researching various factors that are personal to you is the essential first step in making the right decision.  Because only you can determine what that is.  Buying an SUV can be a blast.  But before getting into the thrill of your purchase process, you want to have your homework complete. Considering your particular wants and needs first is prudent.  Then carefully picking your best Volkswagen SUV is simple.  Enabling you to go buy (or lease) knowing exactly what you’re after. Questions To Ask In Picking Your Best Volkswagen SUV We all have slightly different desires and requirements when SUV shopping.  And that makes the best Volkswagen SUV for you a unique proposition. However, there are lots of questions to ask that cross all considerations.  And these questions pertain to Volkswagen SUV lessees as well as buyers. For instance; are you a family, couple, or solo?  Who’s driving and how?  Will you be primarily city or country driving?  Are you commuting?  Do you have kids?  Are going on dates or hauling clients around town?  Will your SUV be getting dirty off-road on the weekends?  What’s your parking situation? Considering those questions in more detail below will help determine the best Volkswagen SUV for you. Life Stage – Your Best Volkswagen SUV Perhaps your life stage is the broadest factor regarding the best Volkswagen SUV for you. But not only where you are at the moment in life.  Because when we buy or lease a car we’re usually dealing with a minimum of a 3-year relationship.  So you also want to consider where you’re likely to be during the term of your ownership.  As well as toward the end of it. Families & Couples So, if you’re a couple getting married that’s a big factor in deciding the best Volkswagen SUV for you.  Because you’re likely to need someone else’s seal of approval on your purchase. Planning to start a family?  That’s an even bigger consideration.  Because now you’re in the universe of dealing with car seats for your baby!  Think space. Then again, you might already have kids.  And they love bringing their friends everywhere on your family adventures.  Similarly, you might be the proverbial soccer mom or little league dad.  So when considering the best VW SUV, think of lots of space! Single Or maybe you’re free and easy – running solo with no significant other or kids.  But you’re working in some type of customer relations or sales.  Think of passenger comfort and style.  Because that might be a consideration of your clients and prospects! Another situation may have your kids heading to college and you to retirement.  You’re no longer hauling clients or kids.  Now it’s just your wants and needs!  And that makes it easier to determine your best Volkswagen SUV.  Woohoo! Weekend Warrior Plus, you could take any of the above scenarios and factor in being a weekend warrior.  Because heading off-road for camping or joyriding adds another part to your equation. Overall, the life stage is a big factor when deciding your best Volkswagen SUV.  It’s obvious upfront but think of the longer term.  That’s what most people forget. Who’s Driving And How? Another critical factor in deciding your best VW SUV is who’s doing the bulk of driving. Obviously, if you’re not married then this one isn’t a factor.  Unless you plan on not being within the term of your ownership.  In that case, you should consider the following. Since my wife almost certainly will not be reading this article.  I’m using my own household as an example.  (Don’t tell her.) I love my wife.  She’s a beautiful person and a wonderful mother.  And she’s a safe driver who’s never been in an accident. Yet somehow strange dings, scratches, and dents magically appear on our vehicles.  And the bigger the ride, the more dents, dings, and scratches. It’s truly a mystery.  But when deciding the best Volkswagen SUV that my wife will be primarily driving, of course, I’m factoring that in! Highway or City Driving?  Best Volkswagen SUV Deciding the best Volkswagen SUV for you includes thinking in terms of highway or city driving. Which dovetails into fuel economy too.  But let’s set gas mileage aside for a moment.  Because we’ll get to MPG later. Keeping the focus on the driver’s comfort is important.  And whether your mostly city or highway driving is nearly secondary to time spent behind the wheel. Being stuck in traffic regularly should be the lead factor.  And city driving equals loads of sitting.  At times desperately trying not to lose your mind.  So think comfort!  First, the driver’s comfort and then the passengers. After that, you will care a bit less about the cost of fuel or electricity.  Because all Volkswagen SUVs are delivering awesome fuel economy. So focus on driver comfort first and the rest falls into place. Parking Is Easily Missed When Picking Your Best Volkswagen SUV Even if you’re working at home this is an important consideration. Because part of picking the best Volkswagen SUV for you means making sure you have a good place to keep it!  Asking yourself questions like if your garage is big enough is a good start.  But you need to go deeper than that.  Think dimensions! Is my garage long enough?  My parking space within it, is it wide enough?  Does my garage door open giving enough height for my VW SUV? All cars are bigger these days.  And that includes Volkswagen SUVs.  So making sure you’re parking space at home is long enough, wide enough, and tall enough is critical. Going Electric SUV? Also, there’s the electric vehicle factor.  If you’re renting your home, then how are you dealing with that Level 2 charger? Because you definitely want to juice up your ID.4 overnight!  Or maybe you’re waiting for an ID.7 sedan or the ID.Buzz microbus – nice!  Whatever Volkswagen EV you’re rolling, you don’t want to plug it into the same outlet as your shop vac!  That will take days to charge. In all the above cases, these are deciding factors.  And that’s just for home consideration. If you’re commuting to work and parking there regularly.  Give that a thought too.  But home is the real issue when it comes to parking and deciding the best Volkswagen SUV for you. Best Volkswagen SUV – The Lineup Taos – Subcompact, front-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive/4Motion, 4-cylinder. Tiguan – Compact, optional 3-row seating, FWD standard or AWD/4Motion, 4-cylinders. ID.4 – All-electric compact, RWD with one electric motor, or AWD w/ two electric motors. Atlas Cross Sport – Midsize, FWD, or AWD, 4 or 6 cylinders. Atlas – Midsize, 3-row, FWD or AWD, 4 or 6 cylinders. Best Volkswagen SUV – In My Opinion Finally, here’s my pick for the best Volkswagen SUV.  But before you go buy one I strongly suggest you follow the above guidance! But having driven many variations of every Volkswagen SUV.  Here’s the one that I think is best. VW Atlas Cross Sport Volkswagen Atlas The Volkswagen Atlas is my all-around pick for the best Volkswagen SUV. It’s huge inside but doesn’t drive like a huge sport utility vehicle.  The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) puts Atlas in the midsize class.  And that’s correct considering the SUV’s dimensions. But Volkswagen manages to engineer the Atlas in such a way that the third-row seating is functional.  At 5’10” I can get back there.  And while I wouldn’t want to ride back there for a multi-hour road trip, it’s useable.  And that’s huge. I do think that the Atlas’s little brother, the Atlas Cross Sport is a bit better looking.  And the Tiguan and ID.4 are a bit more fun to drive. But my overall pick for the best Volkswagen SUV is the Atlas. SoCal’s leading VW dealer – Ontario Volkswagen   All the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

So, if you’re a couple getting married and about to start a family, then think accordingly.  Because a car seat for your baby is going to be an important part of your life!  Think space. Then again, you might already have kids.  And they love bringing their friends everywhere on your family adventures.  Similarly, you might be the proverbial soccer mom or little league dad.  So when considering the best Chevy SUV, think of lots of space! Or maybe you’re solo.  And you’re working in sales.  You’re not yet schmoozing clients at lunches and dinners but one more promotion and you will be.  Think of passenger comfort and style. Another situation may have your kids heading to college and you to retirement.  You’re no longer hauling clients or kids.  Now it’s just your wants and needs!  Woohoo! Who’s Driving And How? Another critical factor in deciding your best Chevy SUV is who’s doing the bulk of driving. But when deciding the best Chevy SUV that my wife will be primarily driving, of course, I’m factoring that in! City Or Highway Driving?  Best Chevy SUV Deciding the best Chevrolet SUV for you includes thinking in terms of highway or city driving. Because all Chevy SUVs are delivering the best fuel economy in history anyway. Factor Parking While Picking Your Best Chevy SUV Even if you’re working at home this is an important consideration. Because part of picking the best Chevrolet SUV for you means making sure you have a good place to keep it!  Asking yourself questions like if your garage is big enough is a good start. But you need to go deeper than that.  Think dimensions!  All cars are bigger these days.  Including Chevrolet sport-utes. So making sure you’re parking space at home is long enough, wide enough, and tall enough is critical. Also, there’s the electric vehicle factor.  If you’re renting your home, then how are you dealing with that Level 2 charger?  Because you definitely want to juice up Bolt EV or EUV overnight!  Or maybe you’re riding in the new Blazer EV, Silverado EV or Equinox EV. In all the above cases, these are deciding factors.  And that’s just for home consideration. If you’re commuting to work and parking there regularly.  Give that a thought too.  But home is the real issue when it comes to parking and deciding the best Chevy SUV for you. Best Chevy SUV – The Lineup Trax – Subcompact, more crossover than SUV.  Front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive. Comes only in a 4-cylinder engine. Trailblazer – Subcompact crossover – sportier than Trax. FWD with optional AWD.  Available in two different 3-cylinder engines. Bolt EV – Subcompact electric crossover.  FWD only.  One electric motor powers the vehicle. Equinox – Compact crossover.  FWD with available AWD.  Comes with a 4-cylinder engine. Bolt EUV – Compact electric crossover.  FWD only.  One electric motor powers the front wheels. Blazer – Midsize 2-row crossover.  FWD and available AWD.  Standard 4-cylinder and available 6-cylinder engines. Traverse – Midsize 3-row crossover.  FWD with available AWD.  Available in a 6-cylinder engine. Tahoe – Full-size 3-row SUV. Rear-wheel drive with available four-wheel drive.  Comes in two different 8-cylinders and a turbo-diesel engine. Suburban – Over-sized 3-row SUV. RWD standard with available 4wd.  Available in two different 8-cylinders and a turbo-diesel engine. Best Chevrolet SUV – In My Opinion Okay, I hope you’re considering all of the above before just going with what I think. And, I’m happy to share what I think is the best Chevrolet SUV.  But I strongly suggest considering all the above before deciding the best Chevy SUV for you. Chevrolet Tahoe Not factoring in any of the above, I love the Tahoe.  It’s the best Chevy SUV in my opinion. I love that truck and I always have.  Especially this latest fifth generation – starting in 2021. Because Chevy made that third row of seating far more useable.  Small adults fit back there, as well as kids without issue. Plus the styling and technology of Tahoe are fantastic.  And finally, without making this a vehicle review, Tahoe is a true SUV. It’s always been a truck turned into a passenger vehicle.  Rather than a car made into a truck. Martin Chevrolet drives iDriveSoCal   All the latest Chevrolet news HERE.

All-New 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Range, Prices, Trims And Tech

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The all-new Chevrolet Blazer EV is rolling out.  It will be a 2024 model year.  And it’s come a long, long way. First hitting the market in 1969, to say the nameplate has come a long way is an understatement. ⇒ Martin Chevy is an iDriveSoCal Official Chevrolet Dealer Because that Blazer was a short-wheelbase truck with a factory cab – more or less.  But a little more than five decades later and Blazer has experienced a transformation. The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer electric vehicle is a super-stylish, zero-tailpipe emission, midsize SUV people hauler.  And it’s capable of doing some serious hauling.  Clocking a zero to 60 mph time in under 4 seconds.  As estimated by Chevy. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer SS EV @ LA Auto Show Overview – What We Know So Far Aside from being quick and super-stylish, Chevy’s let a lot of info out.  While there’s on the way.  Here’s what we’ve got to date. For the first time that we’re aware of, an EV is being released with any drive configuration.  Including front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive options! GM is estimating up to 320 miles of range on a full charge.  Plus nearly 30 inches of digital display across the cockpit. Chevrolet is offering a trim for every price range and associated feature set.  Providing ample customization of your Chevy Blazer EV.  Including push-button-free auto start.  Plus automatic lift gate access.  One-pedal and  Super Cruise hands-free driving. Worth noting, but not available to the public, is the Police Pursuit Vehicle.  That’s taking the top-level SS trim to a civic-duty level. Trims And Pricing – All-New Chevrolet Blazer EV Updates on reservations for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV are available now HERE. More details on each specific trim availability date are available through Southern California Chevy Dealers.  Like iDriveSoCal’s partner, Martin Chevrolet. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – Trims & starting MSRPs: 1LT $44,995 2LT $47,595 RS $59,995 SS $65,995 PPV – law enforcement only Each trim has a slightly different rollout plan.  So it’s best to connect with a dealer.  And that’s to identify and order your Blazer EV.  As well as determine exactly when it will be ready. Electric Motor, Power, And Performance While not all the stats are being reported by Chevy for each of the trims.  The bow tie brand is releasing some impressive numbers for the 2024 Blazer EV. The top trim SS, Super Sport, trim delivers 557 horsepower with 648 pound-feet of torque.  And that’s with AWD.  Additionally, it’s the SS trim that times 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. Braking from that acceleration is just as important.  So the SS Chevy Blazer EV adds Brembo performance brakes in the front. Drivetrains Here’s one of the truly interesting areas of Blazer EV.  Power can come from anywhere.  It’s being based on trim. 1LT – FWD only. 2LT – FWD standard, AWD optional RS – FWD or RWD standard, AWD optional. SS – AWD only. The all-new Chevrolet Blazer EV also offers Regen Braking.  And that converts kinetic energy from the vehicle’s forward momentum into electricity.  Helping to maximize range. While also allowing one-pedal driving.  Whereas, when engaged, Blazer EV can come to a complete stop by fully releasing the accelerator pedal. Up to 320 miles of range Range and Charging – 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Your driving distance on a single charge varies by trim.  For example, that 320-mile range comes with the RS trim.  While the higher-performing SS trim delivers 290 miles on a full charge. Then the 1LT and 2LT trims provide 247 and 293 miles of range respectively. So all this range comes from different levels of charging.  There is 11.5 kW level 2 charging and up to 190 kW public DC fast charging. Blazer EVs have the capability to fast charge through DC high-speed units.  Adding 78 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A cool feature that caught our attention is a Blazer EV charging feature.  Where grill LED lights pulse at an increasing rate the closer the battery gets to being fully charged. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – What’s It Look Like? Blazer was reintroduced as a fuel combustion vehicle in 2018.  Sending a bit of shock through the Chevy-guy set because it was taking styling cues from Camaro more than anything else. And the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV does the same.  But adding a hint of Corvette with a dash of electric/futuristic design.  A wide stance and athletic from every angle. Chevy’s Ultim Platform is the name of its EV architecture.  It’s a ground-up reinvention of vehicle design.  Placing the EV battery under the length and width of the vehicle. This allows for a lower center of gravity while delivering better handling.  But it makes it hard to tell the ground clearance of the vehicle. Chevy hasn’t announced exterior dimensions so we’re uncertain about ground clearance until it does. Nearly 30-inches of digital info screens Inside The All-new Chevy Blazer EV Without being able to crawl through Blazer EV.  We did snap some pictures of the Blazer EV’s interior while it was at the 2022 LA Auto Show. And the SS trim was on display.  Naturally, it appears quite sporty.  With a fun-looking cockpit.  Inviting drivers to enjoy the EV Super Sport experience. Featuring a huge digital display through two screens.  And what appears to be a logical and user-friendly blend of knobs, buttons, and touchscreen controls. Topping it all off is a thick-looking flat-bottom steering wheel.  Seemingly begging drivers to put Blazer through the paces. Overall space looks ample in the all-new Blazer EV.  Because while it’s midsize, it’s still only a 2 row.  Which always leaves plenty of legroom for both passenger rows. 0 to 60 mph in less than 4-seconds Infotainment And Safety Technology Nearly 30 inches of digital screens assist drivers in transitioning to the electric vehicle experience. That includes the main infotainment touchscreen atop the center stack.  Measuring 17.7 inches diagonally, it cannot be missed upon entering the Blazer EV from any door. Drivers view another 11-inch diagonal monitor in the dash, the former home of analog instrumentation. Plus there’s a hands-free power liftgate in the rear.  And buttonless start with a driver with a key fob entering the cockpit. Over The Air Updates And taking a nod from Tesla, Chevy Blazer will offer over-the-air updates for its new EV. Ultifi is General Motors’ new software platform enabling features, apps, and services.  Overtime as they become available. Super Cruise Additionally, Blazer EV will offer what Chevy’s calling the first true hands-free driver-assistance tech.  That’s Super Cruise. It allows drivers to travel ‘no hands’ on compatible roads throughout the United States and Canada. Driver-Assistance Tech Chevrolet offers its latest driver-assistance technologies in Blazer EV as well. This includes automatic reverse braking and advanced park assist.  Plus Chevy’s Safety Assist.  Which is a suite of features helping drivers avoid accidents through additional safety technologies.  Including automatic emergency braking and forward collision alert.  Plus front pedestrian braking and following distance indicator.  Also, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam. All-New 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV The midsize all-electric 2-row SUV from Chevrolet is taking to bow-tie brand to the next electric level. From the Ultimum Platform to the Ultifi software and all the features and tech being packed into both.  Blazer seems poised for yet another successful decade. 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Availability The first-ever all-new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV SUV will be available starting in the summer of 2023! The 4-cylinder is inline and 2.0-liter.  It’s turbocharged and intercooled.  Putting out 235 horsepower with 258 pound-feet of torque. Then there’s the 6-cylinder that’s a 3.6-liter.  And it places 276 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque at the ready. Transmissions All 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sports come with the same transmission.  It’s a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic. But the difference is whether you go with 2WD or AWD.  And when opting for two-wheel the power comes from the front. Also, when moving to all-wheel-drive, in VW-speak that’s called 4MOTION. MPG EPA estimates for the 2023 VW Atlas Cross Sport variations are similar.  That’s regardless of trim and configuration. 2023 VW Atlas Cross Sport MPG 4-cylinder turbo: FWD 21/23/25 4MOTION 20/22/24 6-cylinder: FWD 18/20/24 4MOTION 18/20/24 *City/combined/highway Curb Weight The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport curb weight depends on configuration. On the low end, the 4-cylinder with FWD comes in at 4,114 pounds.  Then the opposite side of the spectrum.  That’s the 6-cylinder with AWD, aka 4MOTION.  It comes in at 4,449 lbs. Towing Capacity When it comes time to drag your stuff around Atlas Cross Sport is capable.  Though it’s more commonly being used as a hauler of people. The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport can tow up to 2,000 lbs with the smaller turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.  And that jumps up to 5,000 lbs with the larger 6-cylinder. Either way, those weights are with a braked trailer.  Rather than one without brakes. 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder or 3.6L 6-cylinder engines 2023 VW Atlas Cross Sport Exterior Atlas Cross Sport’s stylish design wins universal applause. It’s athletic and sporty from every angle.  Bold front and rear fascias.  Attractive three-quarter views.  And its profile silhouette punches above its price point for sure. Cross Sport is a Volkswagen vehicle for sure.  But the less-educated car-guy-eye can easily pass Cross Sport for its luxury sibling.  And that’s Audi’s Q8, with a starting price north of $73,000. Moreover, Volkswagen Cross Sport arguably shares the shape of its supercar brethren in Lamborghini Urus.  And its starting price is a nose-bleeding $230,000. Fun fact: Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary, Audi. Various rim sizes are included, depending on the trim you go with.  There are 18-inch rims on the base model.  Then 20’s are standard with the rest of the models.  Except for the top SEL Premium R-Line.  That includes 21″ rims standard. Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 117.3 Length 195.5 Height 67.8 Width 78.3 Track front 67.0 rear 67.6 Ground clearance 4-cylinder 7.1 6-cylinder 7.5 *All inches Atlas Cross Sport is slightly smaller than its Volkswagen sibling SUV.  The similarly named Atlas sport-ute. Whereas the Atlas Cross Sport is a 2-row midsize.  The Atlas is a 3-row midsize SUV. The exterior difference is apparent when looking at the profile of the vehicle.  Because Cross Sport has a sloping rear roofline. Available VW IQ.DRIVE Inside the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Volkswagen’s legendary fit and finish are felt inside the spacious 2023 Atlas Cross Sport. And above all the interior of the 2023 VW Atlas Cross Sport is spacious.  That’s even with that sloping rear roofline. Throughout the cabin, German engineering and attention to detail are on display.  Whether that’s a solid feel and weighty sounding close of a door. Or the precision with which the backseats fold flat to accommodate whatever cargo you might be transporting. Interior dimensions: Headroom 39.4/37.8 Shoulder room 61.5/60.6 Hip room 58.2/58.0 Legroom 41.7/40.4 *All inches Up to 77.8 cu-ft cargo space Behind the backseats, Cross Sport provides 40.3 cubic feet of area for cargo.  And folding the backseats down opens up nearly double the capacity with 77.8 cubic feet of cargo space. 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 EV – Must Consider Compact Crossover

Episode in iDriveSoCal
The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 marks the electric vehicle’s third model year. Brisk sales of the new compact crossover EV are exceeding projected goals. And with 2023 ID.4 updates.  The compact electric crossover’s popularity readies to grow. ⇒ Ontario Volkswagen drives iDSC! 2023 VW ID.4 Top-3: Price MPGe Technology Starting at $37,495 MSRP What’s New For 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 There are a bunch of new elements to consider for ID.4. ID.4 EV Incentives Headlining 2023 ID.4’s newness is something that might otherwise go unnoticed. And that is the five-seat EV’s assembly location.  Because while VW is a preeminent European brand.  2023 ID.4s are being assembled in the United States. Assembly location can be a big factor due to government incentives.  But those incentives are moving targets. So, to determine if the ID.4 you want is being incentivized.  It’s best to reach out to our favorite Southern California Volkswagen dealer.  And they can address your specifics. Lower Starting Price Point ID.4’s base model is now coming in at $37,495. Sure, that’s thanks to a smaller battery and range.  But if you want in the EV game, it’s a changer. Enhancing Technology And Design Standard tech now includes a big new 12-infotainment touchscreen. Also, park assist plus is now standard.  And that’s with memory parking. Additionally, design tweaks.  New alloy wheels across all trims.  Plus new exterior colors are on the menu. Chattanooga, TN Assembly ID.4’s assembly location could save you some money. Volkswagen’s been pouring investments into Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Most recently $800M. And ID.4 is the first EV to benefit. More important to you, is the potential incentives because of it. 5-seat compact crossover SUV Trims And Prices When it comes to 2023 ID.4 trims. VW is calling the options simple.  We’re listing them all below. But the folks at VW, group them into three main trims.  With the Standard/Pro being the entry-level.  Then there’s the ‘S’ trim.  And finally, the ‘S Plus’ trim. From there Volkswagen states you have options of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.  And then battery options. We’re not sure if that’s simple.  But you have many options.  And that’s always good. 2023 VW ID.4 Trims & starting MSRPs: Standard $37,495 Pro $42,495 w/AWD $46,295 S $42,495 Pro S $47,495 w/AWD $51,295 Pro S Plus $49,945 w/ AWD $53,745 EV Motor, Range, And MPGe The ID.4 is built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle platform. MEB EV Architecture MEB stands for modular electric drive matrix.  Where does MEB come from that?  Not sure. But it boils down to a skateboard type of framework.  It places the vehicle’s battery below and across the vehicle’s cabin area.  While placing the motor or motors between the front and rear wheels. ID.4 Motor For ID.4 2023, you can opt for a single motor or two of them. If it’s a single motor then you’re getting a rear-wheel drive.  And if it’s a dual motor then all wheels will be driving you. The RWD motor is a PSM – permanent magnet synchronous.  And the motor powering the front wheels is an ASM – asynchronous.  (We know, another couple of odd acronyms.) When going with RWD only you receive 201 horsepower.  Bumping up to AWD, with two motors, you receive 295 hp. Available Batteries For 2023 For 2023 VW adds another battery option for ID.4. Previously available with only an 82 kWh power pack.  This year brings a smaller available 62 kWh battery option. EPA Range For 2023 VW ID.4 In the world of EVs, the EPA estimates range with a few factors. Battery size is of course a big one.  But also the vehicle’s curb weight is playing a bigger role. So the smaller 62 kWh battery delivers an estimated 209 miles of range.  And the bigger 82 kWh battery brings up to 275 miles of range with it. However, here’s where curb weight comes into play.  A fully loaded AWD ID.4 drops down to 255 miles of range.  And that’s with the bigger battery. MPGe Another acronym to learn.  But this is for all EVs.  Miles per gallon equivilent, or MGPe. And for the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, the EPA is estimating the following: 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 MPGe: RWD 4,317 curbweight 115/107/99 4,557 curbweight 115/107/98 AWD 4,788 curbweight 104/99/93 *City/combined/highway Towing capacity for the 2023 VW ID.4 is up to 2,200 pounds with the RWD option.  And up to 2,700 lbs with AWD.  Both instances are with trailers that have brakes. RWD or AWD What Does 2023 VW Look Like? It’s a sharp-looking electric vehicle, without looking like an EV.  It’s not space-shippy. Athletic standing, clean lines, and attractive from any angle.  Especially the profile, it looks like a new crossover SUV. Volkswagen is coming after Tesla’s market share with ID.4.  The Tesla Model Y most closely compares with ID.4. For eyes looking on with education. ID.4’s exterior fit and finish clobbers Model Y’s.  Because VW has been making cars for decades longer than Tesla.  And that pays off in the little things.  In the details. Classifying ID.4 as a compact crossover SUV feels inaccurate.  But that’s the census.  It doesn’t look compact per se. Exterior dimensions: Wheelbase 108.7 to 108.9 Length 180.5 Height 64.5 to 65.1 Width 72.9  Track: Front 62.3 to 62.5 Rear 61.5 Ground clearance 6.0 to 6.8 *All inches Standard 12″ infotainment touchscreen Inside 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 ID.4 definitely does not feel compact inside. And here again, Volkswagen’s fit and finish details excel.  The use of space is tremendous. While it’s a high-tech electric vehicle feel, the interior remains a VW for sure.  Attention to detail here clobbers its Tesla rival. Because Volkswagens are built for drivers.  Meaning people who actually use their cars.  Which anyone sitting in traffic can appreciate. Teslas continue taking criticism for interiors its interiors.  For being far too spartan.  And for seemingly ignoring fit and finish details that VW excels at. Additionally, backseat passengers enjoy stadium seating.  Giving them a great view of the road.  Far different from the traditional backseat experience. Interior dimensions: Headroom 40.6/37.9 Legroom 41.1/37.6 Shoulder room 57.5/55.9 Hip room 54.4/46.7 *All inches ID.4 provides ample space for stuff.  With the backseats up there are 30.3 cubic feet of area for cargo. And with the backseats down you get 64.2 cu ft. Up to 64.2 cu. ft. cargo space Technology And Infotainment ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first EV on the MEB platform for the US market. So the tech is both game-changing and a glimpse of the carmaker’s direction.  Features that further connect us to our cars are on fully display in ID.4. Haptic feedback on the steering wheel controls.  (Think video game controller vibrations.)  Smart infotainment system allowing touch and voice control.  And advanced driver assistance tech through IQ.Drive. Plus Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit comes standard across all trims.  Along with a wireless app connect and that huge 12″ infotainment touchscreen. These along with all the latest advancements in safety tech make the 2023 VW ID.4 a ‘must-consider for electric vehicle shoppers. Top-3 Things 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Price – Now starting at $37,495 ID.4 is within range of all new car buyers. MPGe – Goodbye gas pump.  See ya later crazy pump prices. Technology – More tech for the money may not be available in today’s market. iDSC is driven by Ontario Volkswagen   All the latest Volkswagen news HERE.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Features, Prices, Specs And Photos

Episode in iDriveSoCal
At long last, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is here! C8 edition.  Mid-engine.  American.  Supercar.  And all that feels good to say… or, write. Because it’s been a long time coming.  And if it’s more tame sibling Stingray made a statement.  Then Z06 slaps an exclamation point at the end. Since 1963, Z06 has been Corvette’s racetrack dominator.  Fast-forward 60 years.  And 2023 Z06 stays true to that form. ⇒ iDSC is driven by Martin Chevrolet 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Top-3: Styling Performance Value New For 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 The 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 is all-new, from top to bottom. Building on the all-new mid-engine Stingray from 2020.  Corvette engineers created a new level of American Supercar. Customizable and affordable.  Or, at least with a starting MSRP, that’s within reach of the common man’s checking account. 670 hp/ 460 lb-ft of torque Trims And Pricing So for 2023 Corvette Z06 comes in six trims.  Or, two models.  Each with three trims. Depending on how you look at the different configurations.  Which boil down to hard tops and convertibles. 2023 Corvette Z06 Trims And MSRPs: Coupe: 1LZ $105,300 2 LZ $114,500 3LZ $119,150 Convertible 1LZ $112,800 2LZ $121,500 3LZ $126,150 It’s worth noting that inventories throughout the United States are quite limited.  And the best bet is to sit down with a trusted Chevy Dealer and configure your Z06. That way you get exactly what you want.  Sure, you’ll need to wait.  But the wait will be worth it. Carbon fiber wheels Engines, Transmissions, And MPG Chevy calls the Z06’s engine its beating heart.  And that’s fair. Because it’s all-new.  And created for Z06. Corvette Z06 Engine Because it’s an all-new 5.5-liter LT6.  Delivering the highest horsepower, naturally-aspirated V8 ever.  That’s in a production car here in the US. So that motor puts out 670 horses, to be exact.  Along with a rubber-melting 460 lb-ft of torque. Transmission As with the C8 Corvette Stingray.  Only automatic transmission is available.
