From The Ashes is where vulnerability meets power — and shame becomes your turning point.Hosted by April Poynter, this podcast and YouTube channel exists at the intersection of deep sensitivity and unshakable strength. It was born from April’s own journey with chronic blushing and erythrophobia (the fear of turning red in front of others), a physical response that once felt like a curse, but became the gateway to healing, growth, and radical self-trust.The blush symbolizes the quiet pain of self-betrayal - the years spent hiding, people-pleasing, and shrinking in relationships, work, and identity. The phoenix represents what happens when you stop running from yourself and begin to rise - bolder, freer, louder, and more aligned.Blushing Phoenix is for the person who feels everything deeply, who has silenced themselves to fit in, and who is now ready to live louder without abandoning their softness.Through raw stories, spiritual insights, and real conversations, April guides you to reclaim your voice, reconnect with your body, and rise from the ashes of who you were told to be. Alchemize fear into fire. Please rate and review the podcast if you enjoy it.

How to Be Confident Even If You Blush

Send us a text **FREE SOCIAL GATHERING SURVIVAL GUIDE: https://payhip.com/b/OZ2Yr Blushing doesn’t disqualify you from confidence. In this video, I’m breaking down why confidence has nothing to do with the color of your face and everything to do with self-trust, nervous system safety, and the people you surround yourself with. I’ll share how shifting your focus outward, building micro-bravery, and finding safe relationships can completely change your experience with blushing. I’m also opening up about a recent moment with a friend where my body had a trauma response and how moving through that discomfort helped me grow even stronger. If you think you have to “fix” your blushing before you can show up confidently, this video will change that belief. You get to be confident and blush at the same time. Sympathy Blushing: When You See Someone Else Turn Red & You start To Flush

Send us a text *FREE SOCIAL GATHERING SURVIVAL GUIDE* https://payhip.com/b/OZ2Yr If you’ve ever flushed the second someone else starts turning red, you’re not crazy and you’re definitely not alone. This video breaks down sympathy blushing, why your nervous system mirrors other people, and how your mind can create physical reactions out of thin air. I share a personal story about thinking I had stroke symptoms just from reading about strokes, and how that proves your mind is powerful enough to work for you instead of against you. You can overcome this. And it starts with understanding what’s actually happening. Why Authority Makes You Blush (and How to Break the Cycle)

Send us a text **FREE SOCIAL GATHERING SURVIVAL GUIDE** https://payhip.com/b/OZ2Yr Authority can be one of the biggest triggers for blushing, freezing, or shrinking. In this video, I’m breaking down why authority figures activate your fight-or-flight response, the beliefs underneath that reaction, and how exposure work can retrain your nervous system so you stop feeling powerless in those moments. You’ll learn where these beliefs come from, how they shape your behavior today, and practical tools you can use to pivot out of that panic response in real time. This is about reclaiming your voice, your agency, and your own inner authority – without disrespecting anyone. If you’ve ever blushed, frozen, or lost your words around someone “above” you… this one is for you. Could Blushing or Hives Be Linked to Your Hormones? Understanding Progesterone Dermatitis

Send us a text Have you ever noticed your face flushing, breaking out in hives, or turning red right before your period? It might not just be stress or anxiety — your hormones could be involved. In this video, I’m sharing what I recently learned about Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis (APD) — a rare but fascinating condition where the body becomes sensitive to its own hormone, progesterone. We’ll explore what it is, why it happens, and how it connects to symptoms like blushing, redness, and hives. You’ll learn: What progesterone dermatitis actually is How hormones can trigger redness, hives, or flushing Why it might flare before your period What to track and discuss with your doctor Possible treatment options and next steps If you’ve ever wondered why your skin reacts in cycles or why your redness feels out of your control, this video will give you a new perspective to explore with your healthcare provider. Have you noticed your skin flares up at the same time every month? Share your experience in the comments — your story might help someone else feel less alone. Cognitive Dissonance & Blushing: When You Know You’re Meant for More but Keep Hiding

Send us a text Have you ever known you were made for more — to speak, to shine, to be seen — but still found yourself shrinking the moment attention turned your way because of blushing? That tug-of-war inside you is called cognitive dissonance. In this video, I’m sharing how cognitive dissonance showed up in my own journey with blushing, hiding, and silencing my voice, and why that internal discomfort was actually the push I needed to start healing. From Hiding to Healing: WHY I Started Talking About Blushing & HOW It Helps

Send us a text Six years ago, I was thriving in my corporate career—but secretly battling erythrophobia, the fear of blushing. My husband knew. No one else did. The first time I ever told someone was on an airplane, mid-flight, when I finally opened up to a co-worker I trusted. I expected judgment. Instead, she shrugged and said she’d noticed it before but never thought anything about it. That moment changed everything. In this episode, I’m sharing the story of how that simple conversation became the start of my healing—how it led to creating Blushing Phoenix, sharing my story publicly, and eventually learning that safety isn’t about never blushing—it’s about knowing you’re okay when it happens. If you’ve ever hidden parts of yourself because you were afraid of how people would perceive you, this is my story of finding freedom on the other side of shame. What Actually Happens When You Blush (and How to Stop the Spiral)

Send us a text Have you ever felt that sudden rush of heat in your face — like your body is betraying you? In this episode, I'm breaking down what’s actually happening when you blush, why it’s connected to your adrenal response, and how to return to a calm state quickly. You’ll learn: *What triggers blushing (and why it’s often emotional, not physical) *The science behind your body’s redness and heat response *How the adrenal glands and fight-or-flight system play a role *Practical ways to regulate your nervous system in real time *How to reframe your relationship with blushing so it no longer controls you This isn’t about hiding who you are — it’s about understanding your body, calming your mind, and building self-trust. 6 Years Later: My Erythrophobia Journey & What I’ve Learned About Blushing - AND HEALING

Send us a text It’s been six years since I started Blushing Phoenix — a channel that began with my desperate search for answers about chronic blushing and erythrophobia (the fear of blushing or turning red in front of others).  Back in November 2019, I thought my blushing was hormonal. I experimented with birth control, learned about progesterone, tried propranolol, and spent years untangling how my body, emotions, and beliefs were all connected. In this video, I’m sharing what’s changed. How I went from completely unraveling when someone pointed out my blushing - to calmly explaining it to a stranger at the hair salon without spiraling.  How propranolol helped me bridge the gap while rebuilding confidence.  And how I eventually stopped letting blushing define who I am. Blushing Phoenix has evolved with me. I’ve talked about mindset, confidence, and growth - but I wanted to come back to the root of why this channel exists: to help others navigating erythrophobia feel seen, supported, and inspired by what’s possible. Because the truth is, people really don’t care as much as we think they do. And the moment we stop caring, we start to heal. If you’re struggling with blushing, anxiety, or the fear of being seen, this video is for you. You can build confidence, have relationships, speak publicly, and live freely - even if you blush. Subscribe for more real conversations on healing, confidence, and inner growth. Share your story in the comments - you never know who it might help. When Sorry Isn't Enough

Send us a text When my daughter was little, she watched a cartoon called Wonder Pets. In the Christmas episode, Ming-Ming breaks Tuck’s snow globe and says she’s sorry — but Tuck’s response stuck with me: “Sorry won’t fix it.” That line hit deeper than I expected. Because while I believe in heartfelt apologies, sometimes sorry just doesn’t fix it. Words can soothe, but they can’t always repair what’s been broken. In this episode, I’m unpacking what real accountability looks like, why “sorry” isn’t always enough, and how we can accept apologies without pretending things are fine. Sometimes the healing isn’t in the words — it’s in the actions that follow. Support the show

It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Pandemic You

Send us a text What if the version of you that’s been holding you back isn’t your “inner child” - but an older version that learned to survive a certain season? For me, it wasn’t 8-year-old April… it was 35-year-old pandemic April. She helped me cope, create safety, and find meaning during one of the hardest collective moments we’ve lived through. But now, she can’t come with me. This video is about recognizing when an old version of you - your habits, your beliefs, your comfort zones has done her job… and it’s time to evolve. To thank her, release her, and consciously become who you’re meant to be next. If you’ve been feeling stuck, overly cautious, or disconnected from your natural rhythm - maybe you’re just outgrowing your pandemic self. It’s time to say goodbye to pandemic you.  Support the show

What Got You Here - Won't Get You There

Send us a text Sometimes the resistance we feel isn’t about the circumstances around us – it’s about the version of ourselves we’re still living from. In this video, I share how I realized that parts of me – 8-year-old April, 35-year-old April – were still trying to protect me. Their intentions were good, but their rules and fears were actually keeping me stuck. By recognizing and lovingly releasing those old versions, I’m learning to step fully into who I am now at 40. The truth is, what got us here won’t get us there. To step into the life we desire, we have to become someone new. Receive. Release. Become.  If you’ve ever felt like you keep hitting the same wall no matter how hard you try to change – this message is for you. Support the show

Most People Won't Do It ... But Maybe You Will.

Send us a text Sometimes the dream feels heavy. You’re doing the work, but nobody’s clapping, nobody’s noticing. Or you haven't even started. You're plagued with ideas and vision and you feel the pressure of running out of time.  Other times, the dream is real but the timing isn’t right -  and peace comes when you stop forcing it.  This video is about knowing the difference. Do you keep going, even when no one’s cheering, or do you let yourself rest and trust that your time will come?  Only you know the answer. Support the show

Friend-Ventory: Outgrowing People Without the Guilt

Send us a text Are your friendships helping you grow — or holding you back? In this video, I share what I call a “Friendventory” — an honest look at the people in your circle and whether they truly support the life you’re building. We’ll talk about: Friends (and even family) who resist your growth because it challenges their role in your life Energy vampires and the toll they take on your goals Why seasons of loneliness are sometimes necessary to find yourself and reset your boundaries The fear of disappointing others when you outgrow relationships My own deal breakers, like overcomplicated plans or lack of commitment Your circle impacts your confidence, your energy, and your future. If your life and goals have evolved, your friendships should too. If this resonates with you, you’re not alone. Take what you need, reflect on what’s no longer serving you, and let yourself rise. Stop Shrinking for Authority - Reclaim Your Power

Send us a text We’ve all been taught to shrink in the presence of authority - at the doctor’s office, at work, or around leaders - without even realizing it.  In this video, I explore how conditioning shaped these patterns, why our nervous system defaults to compliance, and how we can rise above it.  This isn’t about shaming the inner child who kept us safe - it’s about honoring that part of us and choosing a new way forward.  If you’re ready to reclaim your power and step fully into your own authority, this one’s for you. When ‘Perfect’ Becomes a Problem: Breaking Free from Performance-Based Worth

Send us a text We’re conditioned from childhood to believe our worth is tied to how perfectly we perform  - at the doctor, at work, or in life. In this video, I share how a simple blood pressure reading in 2011 sent me spiraling, and what I’ve learned since about separating who we are from what we do. Fawning 101: Recognizing It & Breaking Free

Send us a text For years, my go-to trauma response wasn’t fight, flight, or freeze  -  it was fawning. I said yes when I wanted to say no, over-apologized, and put everyone’s comfort before my own. Scared Is a Starting Point, Not a Stop Sign

Send us a text You won’t think your way out of fear. You have to move your way through it. In this episode of Amplify with April, I talk about how your nervous system builds resilience through repetition.  You won’t feel confident at first - you’ll feel shaky, unsure, and exposed.  But every time you do the thing while afraid, you teach your body that you’re safe.  That you can handle it. That fear isn’t the enemy - it’s just unfamiliar. Support the show
