"In today's segment, we discuss about an internal security threat that has concerned India for over five decades now, so much so, that at its peak about a decade ago, the then-prime minister called it the biggest internal security challenge for India. Left-wing Extremism or Naxalism, as we know it, continues to thrive in the forested belts of Central India.  Shubhranshu Choudhary has previously worked as a journalist covering South Asia for the BBC and shares his insights on the subject. However, for the past 15 years, he has been working on an experiment of Democratic Media. He is a part of "The New Peace Process in Central India" which is trying to initiate a peace process to facilitate a dialogue between Indian Maoists and the state for possible resolution."

Whichever country of origin they might be from, the need for humanitarian diplomacy is important. Even as forced migrations have geometrically increased in the last few decades, legal frameworks to deal with the issue remain largely insufficient, or even absent. A constant tussle between genuine concerns for national security and the protection of human rights stagnates any concrete progress. This episode addresses this dilemma in the South Asian Context.

Sarah Anne Rennick is Deputy Director at the Arab Reform Initiative. In this episode, she discusses how youth navigates conflict, and how it affects their whole lives.
