Arcade Classics | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 417 Join Infinite Grenade Launcher as they remember all of the best Arcade Classics! Grab some quarters and Press START: More about Primal Rage: Primal Rage is a traditional two-dimensional fighting game in which two players select characters to battle each other in one-on-one combat, or a single player is faced with a campaign of fights against the CPU over increasing difficulty. The final battle of the single player game consists of fighting all the other CPU monsters with an increased power bar, made available in a mini-game prior to the fight. A total of seven characters are available for players to select from. Each character has their own specialized set of three attack moves and abilities. In the game, the object is to deplete the opposing character’s health meter before your own runs out. While fighting, human tribesmen will wander nearby and worship their gods during battle. This allows for the creatures to toss them around or devour some to regain strength (eating opponents’ worshipers will add a bonus to one’s score while eating one’s own will penalize the player). Prior to the final battle, a mini-game commences in which the player is given the chance to eat as many worshipers as possible to increase health for the endurance round. Two human-controlled characters can trigger an easter egg of human volleyball by keeping worshipers off the ground and batting them back and forth. There’s also a bowling easter egg that can be triggered when both players play Armadon. Unlike most fighting games, where the special moves are performed by moving the joystick followed by pressing one or more buttons, Primal Rage features a system where the player holds down certain buttons, then performs the joystick movements. Later revisions of the arcade game added the ability to perform special moves in the more traditional way, with motion followed by button presses, but kept the original method as well. After the opponent is defeated, a brief moment is allowed for the player to perform a finishing move to end the match in a more dramatic fashion; these were performed in a similar manner to the special moves. Although all characters feature three finishing moves, some of them were more easter eggs than fatalities, such as Vertigo’s “La Vache Qui Rit” (French for “the laughing cow”), a fatality in which Vertigo transforms her opponent into a cow, which moos and runs away. If “Game Gore” (an option in some versions) is switched on, the defeated character’s on-screen heart indicator will be shown exploding and their brain will dissolve to ashes.   Your Hosts: Justin Gentile – Instagram: @JustGentile Josie Johnson – Instagram: @JosieTheFiend Kyle Duncan Graham – Instagram: @KDuncanG Sourced: Wiki Listen to the audio podcast: YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Google+ Arcade Classics | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 417 The post Arcade Classics | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 417 appeared first on Hollywood Redux.

Summer Sleepover | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 416 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Gaming Podcast

Summer Sleepover | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 416 Grab the sugary snack and sodas because we’re staying up late with IGL to reminisce about the best gaming Summer Sleepovers! Grab a sleeping bag and Press START: More about Mario Party: Consisting of 50 minigames, including a hidden single-player one, Mario Party takes the form of a traditional board game, with players taking turns to roll (or, in this case, hit) the dice block and move ahead of the number of spaces shown ranging from one to ten. There are many different types of spaces players can land on, each producing a different effect. The primary objective of the game is to collect more stars than any other player. The winner of the game is the player with the most stars after all the turns have been completed. On some levels there is only one star at a time, while on others there could be many stars at once, appearing randomly on a space on the board where it remains until bought by a player for the specific amount of coins stated (20). After a star is collected, a new one appears on a different space on the game board or stays in the same place depending on the stage chosen. Stars can also be stolen from other players by passing a certain location on the board where a Boo resides—the player must then pay Boo 50 coins for the service of him stealing stars; coin stealing is free. A secondary objective is to gather coins as well, for they are necessary for buying essential items such as stars and determine the game-winner in the event of a tie. Coins are earned by landing on blue spaces or winning mini-games. Coins are lost by landing on red spaces, landing on a Bowser space, or losing certain mini-games. At the end of each round of play (i.e. after each of the four players has taken their turn), a random mini-game commences. The mini-games are generally short (about a minute in length) and fairly simple. There are 50 of them in total, divided into four different categories: 4-player mini-games may be divided into three types: The cooperative games, in which all four players collectively win or lose. The competitive free-for-alls, in which players must compete against each other in order to win a limited number of coins. The non-competitive free-for-alls, in which players accrue coins independently of one another and one player’s loss is not automatically another’s gain. 2-on-2 mini-games place players on teams, so they have to cooperate with others in the minigame to win (even though they’re still competing against each other in the main game). 1-on-3 mini-games have a trio against a lone player. Often, the game’s objective is for either the lone player or the team of three to survive for a certain amount of time while the opposing player/trio tries to take them out. The team of three must cooperate in order to win. 1-player mini-games only occur during a round when a player lands on a 1-player mini-game space. They give a single player an opportunity to earn (or lose) coins depending on his or her performance in the mini-game. At the end of the game, there are 3 bonus stars given out. The coin star award is given to the player who collected the most coins overall during the game, the mini-game star award is awarded to the player who collected the most coins in mini-games, and the player who landed on the most “?” spaces earns the Happening Star. It is common for more than one character to be awarded the same bonus star; this happens if there is a tie for the category in question. The person with the most stars after the bonus awarding has concluded is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the player with the most coins wins, and if two players have the same number of both stars and coins, a dice block will be rolled to determine the winner. Mini-games happen at the end of each round or occasionally during a round when a player lands on a Bowser space or One-player mini-game spaces. In most situations, the winner(s) of a mini-game receive 10 coins for their victory. In some mini-games, the losing player(s) have to pay the winner(s) a sum of coins. Players can choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Wario, or Donkey Kong. Fortnite Summer Skirmish | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 415 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Gaming Podcast

Fortnite Summer Skirmish | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 415 Jump off the Party Bus and into Infinite Grenade Launcher for their coverage of Season 5 of Epic Games’ Fortnite and UMG Gaming’s Fortnite Summer Skirmish competition. Grab a pickaxe and Press START: More about Fortnite: Currently, Fortnite is distributed as two different games, though each game uses the same engine and has similar graphics, art assets, and game mechanics. Fortnite: Save the World is designed as a player-versus-environment game, featuring four players cooperating towards a common objective on various missions. The game is set after a fluke storm appears across Earth, causing 98% of the population to disappear and the survivors to be attacked by zombie-like “husks”. The players take the role of commanders of home base shelters, collecting resources, saving survivors, and defending equipment that helps to either collect data on the storm or to push back the storm. From missions, players are awarded a number of in-game items, which include hero characters, weapon and trap schematics, and survivors, all of which can be leveled up through gained experience to improve their attributes. Fortnite Battle Royale is a player-versus-player battle royale game for up to 100 players, playing alone or in squads of two or four. Players airdrop from a “Battle Bus” that crosses the game’s map without any weapons. When they land, they must scavenge for weapons, items, and resources, avoiding being killed while attacking other players. Over the course of a round, the safe area of the map shrinks down in size due to an incoming storm; players outside that safe area take damage and can be killed. This forces remaining players into tighter spaces and encourages player encounters. The last player or squad alive is the winner. Both game modes give the ability to a player to use a pickax to knock down existing structures on the map to collect basic resources (wood, brick, and steel), from then which they can build pieces of fortification, such as walls, floors, and stairs. Such fortification pieces can be edited to include other features such as windows or doors. The materials used have different durability properties and can be updated to stronger variants using more materials of the same type. Within “Save the World” this enables players to create defensive fortifications around an objective or trap-filled tunnels to lure husks through. In “Battle Royale”, this provides the means to quickly traverse the map, protect oneself from enemy fire, or to delay an advancing foe. Both game modes are set to be free-to-play titles, though presently, “Save the World” is in early access and requires a purchase to play. Both games are monetized through the use of V-Bucks, the in-game currency that can also be earned only through “Save the World”. V-bucks in “Save the World” can be used to buy pinatas shaped like llamas to gain a random selection of items. In “Battle Royale”, V-bucks can be used to buy cosmetic items like character models or the like, or can also be used to purchase the game’s Battle Pass, a tiered progression of customization rewards for gaining experience and completing certain objectives during the course of a “Battle Royale” season. Star Wars Battlefront II: Ewok Hunt | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 414 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Gam...

Star Wars Battlefront II: Ewok Hunt | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 414 Kyle, Josie, and Justin travel to the forest moon of Endor to fight for the rebellion alongside the inhabiting Ewoks for their reactions to Star Wars Battlefront II’s Ewok Hunt mode. Grab a lightsaber and Press START: More about Battlefront II: Star Wars Battlefront II features a single-player story mode, a customizable character class system, and content based on The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi movies. It also features vehicles and locations from the original, prequel, and sequel Star Wars movie trilogies. It also features heroes and villains that can be played based on characters from the Star Wars movies; the hero roster includes Luke Skywalker (Matthew Mercer), Leia Organa (Misty Lee), Han Solo (John Armstrong), Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), Yoda (Tom Kane), and Rey (Daisy Ridley), while the villain roster includes Darth Vader (Matt Sloan), Emperor Palpatine(Sam Witwer), Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), Bossk (Dee Bradley Baker), Iden Versio (Janina Gavankar), Darth Maul (Sam Witwer), and Kylo Ren (Matthew Wood/Roger Craig Smith) at launch. The game features a full campaign story mode, unlike 2015’s Battlefront. The game’s single-player protagonist, Iden Versio, leader of an Imperial Special Forces group known as Inferno Squad, participates in multiple events in the 30 years leading up to The Force Awakens. There are segments in the campaign where the player is able to control other characters such as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. Players can also play in the Arcade mode – an offline single player or local co-op where players can choose which side to play on and which battle to play in. Battles vary from team battles to onslaughts. Alternatively, players can choose to do a custom match, where they can change some of the settings and location. Instead of the paid Season Pass downloadable content (DLC) seen in the 2015 predecessor, this game is expanded with free DLC provided to all players with a free EA account. The DLC is free to all players, using a seasonal structure similar to Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege, according to Gavankar. The first season, released on December 13, 2017, was based on the movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and included Finn (John Boyega) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) as heroes, the planet Crait as a ground map, and a space map above D’Qar. The second season, released on May 16, 2018, was based on the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story and included Jabba’s Palace and Kessel as ground maps, the new game modes Hero Showdown and Extraction, new character skins for Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa. A third season was announced on June 9, 2018, during EA Play which will feature content from the prequel trilogy of Star Wars, centering on the origin of the Clone Wars with the planet Geonosis as a ground map, Conquest as a returning game mode, and new heroes and villains General Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Count Dooku. Death Stranding E3 Reactions | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 413 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Gaming Pod...

Death Stranding E3 Reactions | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 413 Kojima Productions presents: Infinite Grenade Launcher’s reactions to the new Death Stranding footage from E3 2018. Press START: More about Death Stranding: Death Stranding is an action game set in an open world environment, which also includes multiplayer functions. Kojima compared the genre to how his earlier game Metal Gear – now considered as a stealth game – was called an action game during its release because the stealth genre was not considered to exist at the time. According to Kojima, one of the key aspects of the announcement trailer was the idea of a connection between life and death. He explained one of the main themes through a short story by K?b? Abe; The first tool created by humans was a stick, meant as protection by putting a distance between oneself and “bad things”, and that the second was a rope, used to secure things one finds important. Kojima compared the main “tools” in action games – punching, shooting and kicking – to sticks, and that in Death Stranding, he wants people to communicate through the game equivalent of ropes. While the title refers to the phenomenon of cetacean stranding, “strand” is an alternative meaning for shore, and also stands for strings and connections. When the main character, named Sam, dies, the player is sent to another world, referred to as an upside-down world submerged in water. Kojima suggests that when the player returns to the world of the living, anything they did or any damage that an explosion or the likes causes when the player dies remains persistent in the world and does not go away. Another element talked about is the existence of a type of rain, called “Timefall”, with the ability to age or deteriorate whatever it hits. Another gameplay element talked about is the player’s ability to interact with the environment and wander outside of the character’s body, as well as recovering items when they die. Quadstick: Designed for quadriplegics, the Quadstick is a mouth-operated joystick that works by blowing air into or sipping air from it. PDP One-Handed Joystick: This analog joystick has mappable buttons that enable players to customize their gaming setups and has a soft elastomer-coated finish for extra comfort and grip. RAM Mount with Ablenet Buttons: Two AbleNet Jelly Bean buttons attached to RAM Mounts round bases and arms. This setup allows a player to control the game with one leg placed between the buttons. Development: In 2015, a team of engineers at Microsoft’s Xbox and gaming division began working on a prototype controller to help improve accessibility for video game input. The device was designed and refined during several internal hackathon events where they built a controller that could use third-party accessories familiar to disabled gamers. In 2017, Microsoft decided to turn the prototype into a product and began collaborating with and consulting accessory manufacturers and groups in the gaming accessibility field such as The AbleGames Foundation. Battlefield 5 Announcement Reactions | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 408 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Ga...

Battlefield 5 Announcement Reactions | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 408 On today’s episode, Infinite Grenade Launcher reacts to the announcement and trailer of Battlefield V. Press START: More about Battlefield V: Battlefield V will focus extensively on party-based features and mechanics, scarcity of resources, and remove “abstractions” from game mechanics to increase realism. There will be an expanded focus on player customization through the new Company system, where players will be able to create multiple characters with various cosmetic and weapon options. Cosmetic items and the currency used to purchase others will be earned by completing in-game objectives. The game will feature several new multiplayer modes, including the “continuous” campaign mode “Tides of War”, and “Grand Operations”, an expansion of the “Operations” mode introduced in Battlefield 1 that focuses on matches taking place across multiple stages to simulate a campaign from the war. In Grand Operations, each round will have specific objectives, and performance in each stage will influence the next. Games will culminate with a “Final Stand”, with players using only a primary weapon with limited ammo, and no respawns. Similarly to Battlefield 1, the game will feature a collection of single-player “war stories” based on aspects of World War II.   Development: DICE unveiled the first details surrounding Battlefield V on 23 May 2018, with more information to be unveiled during the EA Play press conference near E3 2018 in June. DICE has stated that, unlike Battlefield 1, it does not plan to use paid downloadable content or “loot boxes” “that affect gameplay” within Battlefield V; new content will be added to the game for all players over time (which, itself, will progress through the different stages of World War II), at no additional charge. The decision to exclude these features was made following the outrage over the loot box system in Star Wars Battlefront II, another EA DICE title. God Of War 2018 Review | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 407 - Infinite Grenade Launcher | Gaming Podcast

God of War 2018 Review | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 407 Infinite Grenade Launcher takes you to the world of Norse Gods with their review of God of War for the PlayStation 4. Grab the Leviathan Axe and Press START, BOY: More about God of War (2018): God of War (also known as God of War IV) is the sequel to God of War III as well as a continuation of the canon God ofWar-chronology. God of War is the eighth installment in the franchise overall. Unlike previous installments, this game focuses on Norse mythology and will follow an older Kratos in the years since God of War III. The game released on April 20, 2018, and is an exclusive PlayStation 4 launch. Many years have passed since Kratos took his vengeance against the Olympian gods. Having survived his final encounter with his father Zeus, Kratos now lives with his young son Atreus in the world of the Norse gods, a savage land inhabited by many ferocious monsters and warriors. In order to teach his son how to survive in such a world, Kratos must master the rage that has driven him for many years and embrace his newfound role as a father and a mentor. Development: On the day of December 6th, 2014, Corey Barlog, the lead animator of God of War and the game director of God of War II revealed that Sony Santa Monica was working on a new game, in the God of War Franchise. It was announced on Twitter, only taken down later by Sony. The game is conceptually set in the pre-migration point of Viking history; a period in Norse culture where the Norse gods were said to walk among mortals. The game’s soundtrack was composed by Bear McCreary. Best Star Wars Games | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 233 - Infinite Grenade Launcher

Best Star Wars Games | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 233 Almost as long as Star Wars has been playing in movie theaters, it has been mesmerizing eyes via video game consoles. This week we welcome a new Star Wars story and IGL Podcast is talking the best of the gaming galaxies far far away in honor of Rogue One. Look no further than Super Star Wars! Kyle loves to hate this side-scrolling Super NES adaptation of Episode IV. Even though Luke never had to battle a sarlacc pit monster in quicksand on Tatooine,  that’s how the first level of the game ends and it is delightful. The N64 had multiple Star Wars entries, including Rogue Squadron (and its sequel) and criterion roleplaying massively sprawling Shadows of the Empire. This game is the precursor to X Box highlight Knights of the Old Republic, where you experience the world of SW firsthand in the game via your character. Currently, Star Wars: The Old Republic lives as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that launched in 2011. The sequel to the two Knights of the Old Republic games, The Old Republic is set three hundred years after the original games. Look out for Star Wars Battlefront coming November 17! Press start below for all of our galactic game picks: IGL returns on Thursday with a NEW Twitch gameplay and every Tuesday with a new episode of the podcast. The K Files has a new investigation tomorrow, check out old case files here. Holiday Redux continues – be sure to subscribe to us on Youtube for all the updates.             The post Best Star Wars Games | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 233 appeared first on Hollywood Redux.

Thanksgiving! Games We’re Thankful For | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 230 - Infinite Grenade Launcher

Thanksgiving! Games We’re Thankful For | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 230 While Thanksgiving is mainly about family and eating, we want to make sure we take stock of the games in our life that harken back to simpler times, that inspire us and can improve a bad day. Among our most sacred nostalgia titles are: Playstation’s Kingdom Hearts (despite Sony’s broken promises for a third installment), free online game, Robot Unicorn Attack (listen to the theme song, alone), and Monkey Island for X Box (from LucasArts no less). In general, we’re thankful for Indie developers out there making games with lot of heart – who offer alternatives to the usual, from whom you can download random weird experiences like Journey, or story focused titles like Dear Esther and Undertail, the Tell Tale Hearts oeuvre, and many others. Also, the season demands that we pay homage to James Bond video games such as the OG FPS for N64, Goldeneye, and Everything or Nothing for PS2. And finally, we’ve never been more thankful for Nintendo, still in business as the best distraction money can buy. Shout out Nintendo with us this #Nintendovember. Press start on the podcast, then comment below what games you’re thankful for this holiday season!     What are you thankful for this #NintendoNovember? Comment below! Tune in Thursday for more gameplay from the team and stay with Hollywood Redux through the New Year. We’re cranking out new content daily until 2016’s bitter end. Not in the holiday mood? NES Classic and Nintendo Switch | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 229 - Infinite Grenade Launcher

NES Classic and Nintendo Switch | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 229 What video game enthusiast who lived in the 90’s wasn’t dreaming of this moment? In NEW IGL Podcast, players give you the inside track on much anticipated retro gaming console NES Classic. Plus a first look at the NEW Switch to boot. Launched earlier this fall, the Classic is based upon software emulation and includes a library of 30 built-in games from the licensed NES stable, including the ones you’re saying out loud right now in hopes of revisiting (cough Metroid, cough Dr. Mario). The Switch is an upcoming hybrid console, schedule for release in March 2017 worldwide. The Switch is shaped like a tablet with two detachable controllers on either side, called Joy-Cons, which can be used individually or attached to a grip to provide a traditional gamepad. The main unit connects to a TV display via docking station, but it can removed and used as a portable console as well. Neat that it’s a hybrid, though admittedly Nintendo is marketing the Switch as a home console rather than as a portable. Press start below for the full report: Stay tuned to IGL Podcast every Tuesday with NEW Twitch gameplay on Thursdays. The K Files is NEW tomorrow with an investigation into Momento Mori. Playstation VR Experience Review | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 227 - Infinite Grenade Launcher

Playstation VR Experience Review | Infinite Grenade Launcher Podcast | Level 227 Happy Halloween from your friends at Hollywood Redux! Look for a very special Halloween episode of The Writers’ Room tomorrow when we will announce the winners of our fabulous giveaways (click here for more info). Until then, please enjoy this episode of IGL Podcast with a first look at the new Playstation VR! The PlayStation VR went on sale earlier this fall clocking in as the third tethered VR headset to arrive this year. The experience is less immersive overall than previous options on the market place, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, yet the PSVR is very compelling. It’s cheaper for one thing, with prices starting at $400 (compared to the Vive which costs a whopping $799). Mainly, the best benefit of this system is that there’s a ton of the content for it! PSVR launched with 30 compatible games, and Sony has promised to offer 50 by the end of the year, including major franchises like Batman and Resident Evil. Finally, the PSVR is very comfortable to wear, which is not for nothing when you’re playing for long periods of time. Our IGL hosts will continue to offer gameplay via Twitch for the Playstation VR, then give you the scoop on the experience via our podcasts. We love VR on IGL Podcast! Press start below for the full review: Subscribe to us on Youtube for all the updates including a NEW Twitch VR gameplay on Thursday with IGL hosts, Kyle, Justin, and AJ. Halloween Redux concludes tomorrow with The Writers’ Room. Open a new episode of The K Files on Wednesday and stay tuned for more fall fun on Hollywood Redux.
