Module 4: Security and Privacy
In this podcast, the panel discusses the vulnerability of billions of connections between people and devices in the IoE to some level of attack. Left unchecked, the IoE provides opportunity for hackers to compromise devices that are not traditionally called computers (e.g., security cameras, car systems, and power grids). Securing disparate devices using proprietary protocols is challenging. However, a holistic solution based on a secure network can mitigate the risk. Additionally, there is concern for people's privacy. Organizations must become more purposeful in assessing risks and handling private information facilitated by robust privacy policies.

Module 3: How Do We Make This Work for Us?
The panelists in this podcast talk about how machine-to-machine (M2M), machine-to-people (M2P), and people-to-people (P2P) interactions benefit from protocol standardization. Often, sensors and actuators communicate in many different systems that use proprietary protocols. This limits access to data and negatively impacts its potential value. Standardization of protocols will increase data value by reducing costs and improving productivity. This is especially important as the IoE benefits industries by converging operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) functions.

Module 2: Why Is My Alarm Clock Talking to My Coffee Pot?
In this podcast, the panel talks about the devices that are all around us connecting to the Cloud and each other. Many of these devices use a common protocol, the Internet Protocol (IP), to communicate with each other over a network. Other devices that are not IP-enabled must use a controller. As more sensors, actuators, and "things" become connected, IPv6 will provide unique addressing to accommodate the explosive growth of these devices and allow them to connect directly to the Internet. Also, Fog computing is becoming very important because it keeps collected data close to the source for real-time processing.
