Dagon: The god of the Philistines, depicted with the body of a fish and a human head and hands. Molech: A god associated with child sacrifice, worshiped by the Ammonites. Tammuz: A god of fertility and agriculture, worshiped in Mesopotamia and by some Israelites. Ashtoreth: 1 Kings 11:5: “For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians…” 1 Kings 11:33: “…because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians…” Baal: Judges 2:13: “They forsook the Lord and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.” 1 Kings 18:21: “Elijah went before the people and said, ‘How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.’” Chemosh: Numbers 21:29: “Woe to you, Moab!
