This podcast is for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs. It was created to inspire creativity, innovation and new ideas for tackling tough problems that entrepreneurs face as we navigate the complicated waters going from inspired idea to the first product to building and scaling our businesses. This podcast is dedicated to the millions of entrepreneurs who are trying to take an idea and make it into a successful business. We honor and applaud their courage and willingness to change the world. This is our story and one that we share as optimistic creators. In this podcast we get into the trenches with entrepreneurs. We walk side-by-side with entrepreneurs on their journeys into the unknown. We document our challenges, how we are dealing with the challenges, the emotional battles we fight in our minds, the emotional doubts, the joys of reaching milestones and the mindset needed to keep going in the face of crushing adversity. We capture the disappointment when we fail and share in the excitement when we succeed. We document the very difficult decisions that we sometimes have to make when our dreams don’t come true quickly enough, even after spending months or years dedicated to it. This is a must listen to podcast for entrepreneurs that want a glimpse into how our fellow brothers and sisters are navigating their journeys in the real world. It is our hope that these shared experiences of ups and downs will remind us that we are all in this together.

Shark Tank - A Success Story

In this episode Paul Benevich and Dave Linhardt discuss Greg Nigro’s successful journey on Shark Tank.  It’s a story with twists and turns and has a very unexpected outcome and provides insight into how the show operates behind the scenes.   In many ways preparing for Shark Tank is similar to preparing for any investor pitch.  The primary difference is the magnitude of the audience you are pitching.   Anyone that has ever pitched to a group of investors knows it can be a stressful experience, but to pitch in front of a million or more people....That’s downright frightening.

Don't Sweat the Details Until...

In this episode we discuss Not Sweating the Details Until you Need to Sweat the Details.   Often times as entrepreneurs we can over think an idea or concept.  We painstakingly try to map out the entire business model in our head and in doing so, complicate the idea to a point we get defeated, even before we have a chance to truly explore it.   I think if we can keep an idea pure, it gives us the best chance of giving that idea life. In this episode Paul and Dave discuss the idea of keeping an idea pure and when you have an idea,  Not Sweating the Details Until you Need to Sweat the Details.

Entrepreneurial Guilt -Why?

In our Podcast we try to portray the raw mindset of an entrepreneur as we build our startups.   In this Episode, we take a look at why entrepreneurs often experience  "FEELINGS OF GUILT" as we venture out to create our companies and how we try to tame these feelings.    Today, we will discuss the origin on this GUILT, why it can be so destructive and how we are attempting to handle these emotions that get in the way of our joy of entrepreneurship and interfere with the creative process.

Yes, We're Broken, So What?

This podcast episode is dedicated to discussing the benefits of being our authentic selves.  I have found that almost all entrepreneurs are a bit broken.   In a way, I think you have to be, in order to endure the pain of pursuing a entrepreneurial venture.   The rejection we face, the unrelenting faith in pursuing an idea that is new and untested, the ability to get beat up and dust ourselves off and put on a smile and walk into another beating.   This is our life.

Mind Games & Landmines, Entrepreneurial Mental Health

Dave and I are trying something different in this episode. As Dave has mentioned a few times throughout this podcast, good mental health is probably the most important component of being a successful and balanced entrepreneur.  You have to be ready to deal with challenges that test your confidence, courage, creativity, intuition, business sense, and maybe stamina, too. With this said, on occasion, we will host a series of episodes called, “Mind Games and Landmines – Entrepreneurial Mental Health” to discuss some of these issues we all face from time to time. This week, I asked Dave to join me in thinking about and documenting one mental challenge that each of us has had to deal with over the past few days as we engage in our entrepreneurial endeavors.    So, let's lay on the couch, do some self-assessment and discuss our mental battles as entrepreneurs and how we deal with them. Enjoy …  www.justbuilditpodcast.com

Bootstrapping Your First Product

In Episode 5 we talk about the decision-making process involved in deciding if you have enough market information to move forward with investing in your Minimal Viable Product, which is your first solution that allows your customers to experience it.   And if so, what does that Minimal Viable Product look like, how do you determine the features you want to build, how much you want to spend on that product and what you wish to accomplish when you bring this product to market.    Dave Linhardt is problems solving these questions right now with his company called, “Come With.”   Anyone that is looking for inspiration about this process will be pleasantly surprised as Dave introduces the audience to a very creative approach to building your first product without having to invest significant money.  Enjoy…

This is in contrast to Episode 2 which we titled, “The Honeymoon Phase – The Possibilities are Endless.” In this episode, I share my emotional journey with Dave Linhardt as I continue to move forward creating this podcast.   I discuss the moment in time that the honeymoon phase of the concept ended and I experienced a sudden crash into a state of depression and self-doubt.   This episode walks the listener through this phase, and with Dave’s help, how I managed to re-stabilize my emotions and find inspiration again.  Enjoy…

Market Testing Your Idea

In Episode 3 we examine the process of market testing your idea.  It is such as fundamental concept in being a lean agile entrepreneur and or company.  So many entrepreneurs and start-ups claim to be lean and agile, but very few founders and startup teams apply these concepts well and that includes at times, both Dave and myself In this podcast Dave and I interview a new entrepreneur Dave Salyers, that had planned on making a sizable investment into building his idea before market testing it.    A conversation we had a few months ago influenced Dave Salyers to pivot his strategy and create a series of market tests before embarking on a more expensive solution.   Dave Salyers then embarked on a series of 6 market tests that allowed him to rethink his solution in a very cost effective way.  Any entrepreneur that is thinking about building a new solution should listen to Dave's story.  It is a great process for creating your market test strategy.  This episode takes you through his journey and market testing process.

In Episode #2, “The Honeymoon Phase, the Possibilities are Endless” you get a glimpse of the excitement and energy surrounding a new idea.   When the idea lives largely in our mind and we take the first steps at bringing this idea into reality.    I thought it would be interesting to allow the audience to journey behind the scenes as Dave and I try to bring this podcast to life.
