1st and 2nd Kings
Episode in
Kaila Mason
The books of 1st and 2nd Kings, though separate in our Bibles, were originally written as a single book. They narrate a cohesive tale that continues from the book of Samuel, detailing how David united the tribe of Israel into a kingdom and how God promised a messianic king from his line to establish God's kingdom. However, the subsequent kings after David failed to live up to this promise, leading to the decline of the nation of Israel. The book is structured into five main parts, with the narrative starting and ending with a focus on Jerusalem. The central sections delve into the division of Israel into two rival kingdoms, God's attempts to curb corruption through prophets, and the eventual exile of Israel due to sin. The story includes Solomon's reign, the building of the temple, his descent into idolatry, and the subsequent downfall of the kingdom. The narrative follows the lineage of kings from David, highlighting their faithfulness or corruption based on their adherence to the covenant. Prophets play a significant role in challenging idolatry and injustice among the kings and people. Notable figures like Elijah and Elisha confront kings promoting false gods, but ultimately, their efforts are unable to steer Israel back from apostasy. The book also recounts the bloody revolution in the northern kingdom led by King Jehu, culminating in the fall of Samaria to the Assyrian empire. The final chapters depict the demise of the southern kingdom, with some heroic kings like Hezekiah and Josiah attempting religious reforms but failing to salvage Judah from destruction. The narrative concludes with the Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem, the destruction of the temple, and the exile of the people, leaving a hint of hope for the line of David through a descendant named Jehoiachin. The book raises questions about God's faithfulness to his promises to Abraham and David, hinting at future fulfillment through the messianic kingdom.

The book of Matthew
Episode in
Kaila Mason
The Gospel of Matthew is a significant early account of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While the authorship of the book is anonymous, it is traditionally attributed to Matthew, one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus. The apostles orally passed down their eyewitness accounts and teachings of Jesus, which were eventually compiled and arranged by Matthew. The book is structured to emphasize key themes about Jesus, such as his role as the Messiah from the line of David, a new authoritative teacher like Moses, and the embodiment of God with us (Emmanuel).
The structure of Matthew's Gospel is intentional, with an introduction and conclusion framing five main sections that focus on Jesus as a teacher. The first half of the book highlights Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament narrative, weaving in references to Old Testament scriptures to underscore his identity and mission. Matthew portrays Jesus as the promised figure greater than Moses, who delivers Israel from slavery, imparts divine teachings, and establishes a new covenant relationship between God and humanity.
As the narrative progresses, Jesus announces the arrival of God's kingdom and demonstrates its power through miracles and teachings. He challenges societal norms and emphasizes the values of humility, service, and forgiveness in his kingdom. The conflict between Jesus and Israel's religious leaders intensifies as differing expectations of the Messiah clash. Jesus's ultimate act of sacrifice and resurrection fulfill Old Testament prophecies and establish him as the true king of the world.
The Gospel of Matthew concludes with the disciples spreading the good news of Jesus's resurrection and his reign as Lord over all nations. The book ends with the promise of Jesus's continued presence with his followers until his eventual return. The narrative of Matthew's Gospel not only recounts the life and teachings of Jesus but also serves as a proclamation of his identity as the long-awaited Messiah and King.

The Book of Galatians
Episode in

Let’s explore the Fruit of the Spirit in the Book of Galatians Written by Apostle Paul.
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”
Galatians 5:22 NLT
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.”
Galatians 5:24 NLT
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
Galatians 5:25 NLT
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”
Galatians 5:16 NLT
“The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.”
Galatians 5:17 NLT
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 NLT
“You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”

The Book of Zephaniah
Episode in
Kaila Mason
The book of Zephaniah talks about Gods judgment and wrath on his people. God seeks to turn his people from their wicked ways and has to wake them up with his harsh wrath that almost destroys them. God doesn’t do this to destroy them forever. He does this so they know he is God and to turn his people back to him. The prophet Zephaniah is calling on his people to repent and turn from their wicked ways before Gods anger and wrath comes. The people will not listen. There is good news though. God is not doing this to destroy his people. He’s doing it so that the people will turn back to him. God is saying if the people will turn from their wicked ways, he will not only save them. He will bless them. This book is about gods mercy for his people and how if we return from our ways, he will not only save us, but bless us. About how God will sing songs of joy, and rejoice over us if we turned from my ways.
I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord. - Zephaniah 1:3
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills. -Zephaniah 1:10
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.
Zephaniah 1:12
That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, Zephaniah 1:15
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land. Zephaniah 1:18
Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's anger come upon you.
Zephaniah 2:1-2
The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. Zephaniah 3:5
Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. Zephaniah 4:8
Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
Zephaniah 4:14-15
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 4:17
Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.
Zephaniah 4:19-20

The 10 Commandments
Episode in
Kaila Mason
God's Law, the Ten Commandments Exodus 20:2-17 (KJV):
“I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s."
