We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. The Lord has turned away from us because despite our sin we have refused to call upon him. We have refused to plead for His mercy. For this reason He has left us to dwell with our sin. But confession and pleading for mercy is our vindication.
