Humanity has come a long way in the roughly 4.5 billion years since the formation of our Solar System. But have you ever wondered how our Solar System formed, why it has the features it has, and what will happen to it (and us) in the future? Join Dr. Thomas Madura, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at San Jose State University, as he reviews the current understanding of how our Solar System formed and what will eventually happen to it and the Universe in the distant future.

Did you know that NASA plays a role in weather monitoring and the prediction of extreme weather? Learn from NASA scientists about the Global Precipitation Measurement Mission and how this specialized satellite helps the world get the big picture of pending storms. Data from NASA satellites inform decision-making and forecasting for water resource managers and emergency responders worldwide.

Have you heard that the US is about to witness a total eclipse of the sun? Solar eclipses, when sunlight reaching earth is blocked by the moon, occur somewhere on earth about once every 18 months. But the last time a total eclipse was visible from coast to coast in the U.S. was nearly 100 years ago! To help you better understand and more fully appreciate the August 21 total eclipse, Hadley has teamed up with NASA scientists to bring expert insights right to you.

Join Seminars@Hadley as our panelists discuss how technology and braille work together for a winning combination for life! Special guests Kathy Claus, professional storyteller and author; Kristen Witucki, the curriculum and content editor for Learning Ally's College Success Program and Susan Kennedy, a legal assistant and travel blogger, will share how they balance braille and technology in their everyday lives. Join Low Vision Focus @ Hadley as Caitlyn Snyder, Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, and Mary Zemlick, Occupational Therapist and Orientation and Mobility Specialist, discuss how to enjoy knitting with low vision. They'll be discussing equipment and terminology, techniques for rake knitting, knitting in the round and using straight needles. They'll also share their expertise on where to find accessible knitting patterns and how to find local knitting groups. If you've ever wanted to begin or resume this wonderful hobby, this is the webinar for you! Join Low Vision Focus @ Hadley as Carmen Torres, Hadley student and the first person in the State of Florida to receive the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System, discusses her personal experience with a retinal implant. Duane Tsutsui, Head of Marketing for Second Sight Medical Products Inc., the manufacturer of the Argus II, will also be present to discuss the technical aspects of the device.
