Liberty

What is our nature? Are we animals or image bearers? Orphans or Sons of God? When we look intently at Christ we see a perfect image; both example and Savior. The Gospel offers us a new nature that is not enslaved by sin but free to love God and our neighbor. Daniel DeCriscio speaks from James 1:25. The post Liberty appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

The Power to See Ourselves

James challenges us to “look in the mirror.” Look intently into the Word of God and when God shows us some part of our lives that needs to be changed, then do what it says. If you don’t it would be like looking into the mirror and seeing something you had for breakfast stuck between your teeth and not removing it before a client meeting. We wouldn’t do that would we? Well then, treat the Word of God the same way, with obedience. Chris White speaks from James 1:22-24. The post The Power to See Ourselves appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

Temptation

The bible describes two types of temptation. Jesus was tempted for 40 days in the wilderness, fasting and praying. The Spirit of God led him into the wilderness and allowed the devil to throw everything he had at him. He offered him food, power, position, the earth itself. Jesus turned him down. He passed the test. It was not his Father’s will for him. This strengthened him and prepared him for his public ministry and to give his life as a ransom to all who would put their trust in him. The temptation that James talks about here in James 1:13-15 is the temptation that comes from the evil desires that come from within our own evil thoughts, out of our own hearts. Our hearts are corrupt. Chris White continues the series “Hearer/Doer” from the book of James.   The post Temptation appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

Lift

As Christ followers, James instructs us how we should approach the various trials we encounter in life. He used trials to make us more dependent on Him for all of our needs and enables us to receive His transforming grace. When we are in a trial, we are tempted to doubt God’s word and to take matters into our hands. But we are called to wait on Him to give us wisdom and light. Whatever we are going through and whatever temptations we face, it is wonderful to remember that God is never the one tempting us to see if we will step away from Him. He always and only intends our ultimate good. Andrew Day speaks from James 1:12. The post Lift appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

Wisdom or Foolishness

When trouble comes our way, we can respond with wisdom or we can be foolish as if we have no hope. We can act like people of the world and not act like God’s people. James tells us what to do when we don’t know how to respond. Chris White continues the series “Hearer/Doer” from James 1:5. The post Wisdom or Foolishness appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

The Heart

David is giving the charge to his son Solomon as he is about to go the way of all the earth (nice way of saying that “I am about to die”). He wants to pass the torch of leadership for God’s people Israel. God has given Solomon great wisdom from his youth. But what David cannot give his son is heart, an obedient heart. David was a man after God’s own heart but Solomon was not. Chris White speaks from 1 Kings 2:1-3. The post The Heart appeared first on Leadership Ministries.

Keep Your Head

As King David nears death he gives his son, Solomon, advice on how to lead. He reminds him that difficult challenges will come. When they do, a true leader confronts them head on and never panics. He “Keeps His Head” and leads his wife, family and associates through it. Mark Maynard speaks from 1 Kings 2:2-3 and Philippians 4:6-7. Move Towards the Action

As men, we face challenges daily. In the role of leader, provider and protector, men are called to move towards the action. Moving towards the action means making yourself available so that you can be used. Routinely moving towards the action requires three things:  courage, discernment and trust in the Lord. Andrew Day speaks from 1 Kings 2:2-3. The post Move Towards the Action appeared first on Leadership Ministries.
