Hey Buttered Bella Thanks for being here! So tell me how did your journey begin?
So about 9 years ago I still had a lot of baby weight from having my son and I tried everything to get rid of it with no success. At that time Atkins was all the rage. So I decided to try it and low and behold it worked. I lost 40 pounds and thought I knew what l was doing but I really had no clue. I slowly gained everything back and then some.
What kind of negative affects did you have when you gained it all back?
I just figured that I was always going to be big and there wasn’t anything I could do about it. In January 2015 I started to have major health issues. I suffered from daily headaches, was tired and depressed, also pre diabetic and worst of all, my blood pressure stayed at a constant level of 160/90 even while on meds.
Wow so it sounds like you really needed to take action what did you do?
I was a ticking time bomb. I had to do something. So I decided to go low carb again. I started doing research and I found that there was so much new information and support that wasn’t available to me before. I found ketogenics as well as a huge community behind it. I’ve been on keto for 16 months and I’ve lost 55 pounds. I’m no longer pre diabetic and best of all I’m no longer on prescription meds.
Buttered Bella favorite foods: Avocados, bulletproof coffee, coconut oil, cacao butter, cauli mash, keto butter biscuits, crack slaw, and fat bombs. I could go on and on.
Butter Bella favorite products: Trader Joes Grass Fed Angus Patties, Chocolite Sugar Free Candy (no malitol), Halotop Ice Cream, Sweet Leaf Stevia, Flackers, Therabreath Mouthwash (made with xylitol), Zevia, Solaray Prenatal Vitamins (not preggers but I like them), Isopure Birthday Cake Protein, and Weight Gurus Body Composition Scale.
At the beginning of my journey I really didn’t work out. But my energy level has gotten a lot better, so I’ve been weight training for a couple months. I’m getting better everyday.
So my advice to a keto newbie is to take advantage of the keto community on social media. YouTube has been absolutely crucial to my journey. I would watch hours of YouTube just getting info and recipes.
Facebook groups and Instagram also helped me. I’ve met so many amazing people from all over the world. I wish I would’ve had this much support all those years ago! Also some people will not understand your lifestyle.
When I tell people that I put butter and coconut oil in my coffee they look so confused. The concept of eating fat for fuel is so far fetched for people. Just do your research and stay on track. Everyday won’t be perfect, but no matter what don’t quit. Keto saved my life!
