LoudSilence Sports, Episode XL

NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller joins Doc on this week's official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast to announce Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffen III for this year's cover athlete. Griffen will not be alone on the cover, and EA Sports wants you to vote (via a Facebook page to be launched next week) on which former Heisman winner will join him on the front of the new game. The eight finalists are the topic of this week's show. Marcus Allen, Herschel Walker, Andre Ware, Doug Flutie, Charlie Ward, Eddie George, Barry Sanders and Desmond Howard all left an indelible mark on college football. Who gets your vote for the honor of being on the cover of NCAA Football 13?

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLIX

After an extended hiatus to attend to behind-the-scenes matters (we have a small staff around here), LoudSilence Sports returns with another official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. Just because there are no games being played doesn't mean Doc and NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller have nothing to talk about. In this week's off-season episode the two discuss the changes coming to the college football landscape over the next few seasons. Then they lament that this is only the beginning.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLVIII

Normally the posts for the LoudSilence Sports Show are in the third person, but this is a special episode. This week's official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast is a tribute to Joe Paterno. This was the most difficult show I have ever done in two decades of broad/pod-casting. What began as a well-planned memorial for a man who made a positive impact on my life turned into a rambling mess. I considered not posting the show, or trying to re-record it. Ultimately I decided the awkwardness of the show is outweighed by the reality of struggling to put both his death and the events of the last three months of his life into perspective. For the Glory, Doc--Penn State Class of '97

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLVII

Just because the season is over doesn't mean the EA Sports NCAA Football podcast crew is out of things to talk about. Today's episode features the lessons learned by Doc and NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller after they have had some time to soak in the 2011 college football season. Those lessons include that kickers metter, realignment of conferences is going to get worse before it gets better and recruiting rankings mean about as much as a Gabor* wedding vow when it comes to predicting the future.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLVI

NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller and Doc mourn the end of the college football season on today's episode of the official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. The BCS "national championship" game was not have been the match-up people outside of Bristol and the Southeast United States wanted to see. However, the swan song of the college football season deserves it's own podcast.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLV

LoudSilence Sports is back after a long but needed holiday hiatus. Our first show of the year is the Bowl Review Edition of the official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller and Doc discuss the highlights of this years bowl season so far (it seems weird to use "so far" on January 5). Among the topics of discussion is whether or not Robert Griffen III has supplanted Mike Singletary as the greatest player in Baylor history. Speaking of RG III, if you have not seen his appearance on Letterman after winning the Heisman it is a must-watch.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLIV

LoudSilence Sports kicks off the week with another Very Special Episode of the official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. In today's edition Doc and NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller go down the list of college football coaches who have filed change of address forms this month. The highlight of this coaching carousel is the return of LoudSilence Sports favorite weatherman, Mike Leech, who is also our favorite dating coach and sound bite machine.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XLI

The new NBA collective bargaining agreement could be ratified by the end of the day, paving the way for what is sure to be a sloppy, god-awful regular season of professional basketball. LoudSilence Sports brings in our new NBA expert, Jeff Boswell, to talk with Doc about the excitement of the upcoming free-agent frenzy, what lies ahead for NBA fans and how David Stern will make sure that big market teams will continue to dominate his league despite the lip-service he gave to competitive balance during the lockout.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XL

What would the end of the college football season be without a BCS controversy? LoudSilence Sports welcomes back NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller for a rousing discussion of Championship Week in college football in our latest official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. LSU cleared their last hurdle to the title game behind the game-breaking talent of "Honey Badger" (why would anyone kick to that guy?) and Alabama's performance from their collective couches earned them a rematch with the Tigers. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State fans injured eight people storming the field to celebrate their Fiesta Bowl birth and Michigan State loses the Big Ten Championship Game thanks to a flopping dog of a soccer player. The only thing worse than how that game ended was how it began: with the most ridiculous conference promo video ever made. It is so bad you can't even find it on YouTube.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXIX

LoudSilence Sports returns from Thanksgiving break with a Week 13 edition of the official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast. LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXVIII

The official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast returns for another Monday edition of LoudSilence Sports. Doc reviews the big moments of Week 12 in college football along with EA Sports NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller. On today's dockett: Robert Griffen III's entry into the Highlight Hall of Fame, Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads's incredible pep talk skills and the incredible slate of games we have on tap for the long holiday weekend. The two also wonder aloud why the officials did not review Oklahoma State's crucial missed field goal, even if it was the right call on the field.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXVII

DJtheDJ joins Doc for a rare in-studio for today's edition of LoudSilence Sports. The two weigh-in on Week Ten of the NFL season, including the obligatory takes on the Falcons going for it on fourth down in OT and Tim Tebow only completing only two of eight passes on Sunday. Then the conversation veers into the NBA lockout and the impending demise of the season. DJ is done with the NBA, while Doc is delusional in his loyalties to the Orlando Magic and tries to keep DJ in the fold. He is unsuccessful, in large part to the effect the lockout is having on the O-Rena workers the two have gotten to know so well over the years.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXVI

Week 11 saw the end of Boise State's place in the BCS title discussion and the shrinking of Andrew Luck's Heisman Trophy race lead. EA Sports NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller makes his usual Monday appearance to record the official EA Sports NCAA Football podcast to discuss those topics and more, including Toledo allowing 60 points for the second week in a row and still winning and Steve Spurrier getting one over on the yet-to-be-bowl-eligible Gators.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXV

After a difficult hiatus the LoudSilence Sports Show has returned. For today's episode I brought in frequent guest and fellow Penn State graduate Mike Gogel. Mike is host of the Masters of None podcast and is also a fellow former GM of Penn State's student radio station, WKPS-FM, 90.7: The Lion. This show could have easily lasted four hours. There seems to be no end to the amount of side stories, new information and strong opinions on the subject. We try to keep our focus to how Penn Staters should handle themselves during tomorrow's game against Nebraska and what steps need to happen from here to restore Penn State's image. We're speaking from the heart and we do not edit our segments, though, so sometimes the conversation breaks down into cathartic ranting.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXIV

We here at LoudSilence sports love defense. After all, it wins championships. EA Sports NCAA Football producer Ben Haumiller joins Doc to revel in the greatness that was the Tiger-Tide game on Saturday evening. Also on the menu is Justin Blackmon's continued quest to have at least one horrible play in every game to balance out how incredible he is on every other offensive snap.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXIII

This was supposed to be a podcast about how to handle lopsided or possibly nefarious trades in fantasy football. Instead it turned into a lengthly discussion about the reality of the NBA lockout finally sinking in. All it took was a mention of the fantastic legal victory Mark Cuban just chalked up over Ross Perot, Jr.. Special thanks to LoudSilence Sports contributor Jeff Boswell for joining today's show.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXII

The NFL is calling for additional referee training on recognizing concussion symptoms in the wake of the Kris Dielman incident on October 23. We previously visited this topic during an episode with Super Bowl champion Brad Johnson. Today Doc brings in his cousin Craig, who has witnessed first-hand the effects of concussions in youth sports. Could we be nearing a time when football is no longer the dominent sport in American culture? If more parents begin to push their children away from football due to head injuries it is only a matter of time until that trickles down to the NFL.

LoudSilence Sports, Episode XXXI

The retirement of Tony LaRussa after an amazing run to the world championship has produced a nauseating number of "best career ending" stories. Did you know Jerome Bettis was from Detroit and that John Elway lost three Super Bowls before he went out with back-to-back rings? Yeah, neither did we. In today's episode Doc welcomes frequent guest and host of the Masters of None podcast Mike Gogel to review the worst endings of great sports careers and determine which former legend's swan song is the antithesis of LaRussa's storybook ending.
