Mel's Monday Musings

For a while now people have been saying I should do my own podcast, I am the Queen of the WhatsApp voice note and for some reason really enjoy the sound of my own voice (egotistical I know).

Every other Monday (this should probably say, every Monday where I have the time) I am going to be releasing bite size snippets of topics I am passionate about, wish I had known more about when I was younger or just something I want to have a little rant/ramble on about :)

Let's talk about... obligation

Society makes us think we have to do/achieve certain things before a certain age. We are all on our own journey, why do we compare our own personal journey to everyone else? Why can't we just focus on our own path?

Let's talk about... being ghosted by the opposite sex

So we have all been there, when you think a relationship is looking really promising and then all of a sudden the person you are talking to stops messaging you completely out of the blue. This episode delves into this subject in more detail and I talk about my new favourite book 'Women don't owe you pretty' by Florence Given

Fear of flying.... Conquered

I had a massive fear of flying throughout my teenage years, it got so bad that I was finding a two hour trip to Portugal ectremly challenging. I was not able to relax on holiday for the fear of the getting the plane home was so great. I then went on the British Airways fear of flying course and things MASSIVELY changed!

Let's talk about... not being okay

The sound quality is not great but it is from the heart so I don't want to re-record it. I talk from the heart, nothing written down, like I am just talking one on one with someone. It is mental health awareness week and I want to share my own personal experience with mental health which I have really struggled with over the past few months.

I am late to the party, but the joy that is Schitts Creek

A show with pure heart and soul, during lockdown I struggling to find new shows to watch and let in. I wanted to stick with the familiar, with things I already knew or had watched countless times, however this show captured me fully. It lets the characters be who they want to be, no judgement, no shame, no preconceptions, they are who they are and they do not apologies for it.

Normal People (I wish this show had been around when I was younger)

I wish this show had been around when I was younger, to help me understand that life is not a fairy tale. It would have helped me understand that relationships are complicated, difficult and not perfect.
