Episode in
My Haunt Life
“From Creep to The Willows and Beyond:JFI Productions” Panel from Midsummer Scream
In this episode, we present to you the panel that we moderated at this year’s Midsummer Scream. We were lucky enough to share the stage with the JFI (Just Fix It) Productions team. You may recognize that name from such shows as Creep LA and The Willows.
The JFI team, Justin Fix (Founder), Daniel Montgomery (Writer/Artictic Director), David Ruzicka (Artistic Director), Stephanie Turek (Creative Supervisor/Choreographer), and J.T. Swierczek (Executive Producer/Partnership Director) and we talk about all things JFI…from Creep LA to The Willows and beyond!
If you weren’t able to make it to Midsummer Scream or if you did and want to listen to the panel again, here you go! Thank you again to everyone who participated, showed up, and asked questions. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without you!
Also, if you listen through the panel, you may or may not hear a discount code for this year’s “Haus of Creep”. You wouldn’t be a CREEPFAN without it!

Interview with “Delusion” creator Jon Braver
Since 2011, “Delusion” has become a staple of the Los Angeles scene. The interactive theatrical experience has captivated, wowed, and inspired fans and creators alike. In this episode, we sit down with “Delusion” creator Jon Braver and chat about everything from the start of Delusion to the just announced Director’s Cut of “The Blue Blade” and even some fun things like the voices Jon can do, stunt work with Harrison Ford, favorite Jackie Chan movies, how to scare camp counselors, how important gaming is, and how Mike is probably a serial killer. Enjoy this fun, informative, and slightly chaotic interview that has a little something for everyone.

Episode 86 – The 2018 Haunt Season Wrap Up
Episode in
My Haunt Life
In this episode, we wish a fond farewell to the 2018 haunt season. We catch up on all the things we’ve done in the last episode including Mike’s trip back to Boston to experience “Fall” (that’s a season!). Before that trip, we see the last Dirty Tricks of the year with the New Bad Boys of a Magic. Russell gets stranded on Boney Island and is saved and escorted out by a Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. We return to Theatre Macabre before they close their curtains. While half of My Haunt Life is on the other coast, Russell is able to see Force of Nature Productions “Fallen Saints”, then visits the world’s tiniest haunted house at Starmakers Costumes, and is able to attend some home haunts including Rotten Apple 907, The Farm, and Van Oaks Cemetery. If that wasn’t enough, he then is able to escape from Reality X, visits the mausoleum with Wicked Lit, heads to “Kansas” to see some familiar faces with Chapter 7: The Heart from the Speakeasy Society, then gets his 70’s fix on with Safehouse ’77. If that wasn’t enough, he talks about his second trips through Creep LA and Delusion: The Blue Blade. Meanwhile, back in the crisp Autumn air, Mike is able to visit Demented FX as well as a production of Sleepy Hollow at his favorite field trip spot as a kid, Ol’ Sturbridge Village.

Episode 84 – Interview with Miasma Creator Justin Brink
Episode in
My Haunt Life
Interview with Miasma Creator Justin Brink
Miasma: Into Great Silence broke open the 2018 haunt season early in the Midwest. Based in Chicago, this immersive terror experience has spent the last few years building a solid reputation for intense dramatic sequences, surreal mood shifts and incorporating extreme haunt elements. Creator Justin Brink and his team created an adrenaline-laced robbery-gone-wrong narrative that forced the patrons to face some squirm inducing decisions.
Russell first attended Miasma in 2016 and returned this year. However, he didn’t return as a patron. Instead he stepped behind the scenes and into the darkness to become part of the crew and to assist in the terror.
Afterwards, he sat down with Justin to ask a few questions. This quick interview covers the journey to this year’s show and explores the dynamics of forming a trusted team of players that can unite to present intensely dark, challenging shows.

It’s Official! Haunt Season Has Begun!
It’s that time of year again! In this episode, we head to the Magic Castle to see the New Bad Boys of Magic perform there for the first time. We also check out “Dirty Tricks” without the Bad Boys, but still with the “dirty”. Russell experiences “Echoes in the Dark” from the Shine On Collective then travels to Chicago to help out with Miasma: Into Great Silence. Then we head to see Chapter 6 of The Speakeasy Society‘s Kansas Collection, called “The Witch” and gives us an unexpected emotional impact. We go to the first haunt of the season at Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor! Haunts on a haunted ship…what could be better? As we’re about to jump in head first to haunt season, we catch you up on the things we’ve done since the last podcast. Russell traveled to Mississippi again, but were able to do some things before, during, and after that! We took part in an “Experiment” by Get The F Out Rooms. Russell goes “Dark” with Force of Nature‘s “Fallen Saints”. We attend THE wedding of the year with Speakeasy Society‘s “The Vow”. We attended a Secret Thing, opened some mail with Box of Dread, and got to experience Live In Theater. We felt loved with #bedrumplai and Mike finally makes it to Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum, Majestic Repertory show, and then attends this year’s ScareLA.

Dealing with Death and Grief – Interview with Sam Shaber (Sam Shaber: Life, Death, and Duran Duran) and Ashley Steed (When Skies Are Gray)
How do you deal with death? How do you deal with grief? What if time does NOT heal all wounds? Can art heal?
In a challenging, moving conversation, we sit down with two creators and chat about what it takes to create from a place of loss or sadness and wind up transforming audiences in the process. Ashley Steed and Sam Shaber join us to talk about very different shows born from personal experiences. We explore the subject of grief and how to deal with it in a way that goes very deep and very personal.
While their shows have the subject of death and loss, we learn that they are more than that…they’re a celebration of the life of their loved ones.

Hollywood Fringe Fest 2018 – Weeks Two & Three Reviews
In this episode, we learn that Russell is a theatre junkie that is constantly looking for his fix. We talk about the record setting number of shows he’s seen over the last couple of weeks of the Hollywood Fringe Fest.
Hollywood Fringe Fest has come to a close for this year, but you STILL have the chance to see more shows! Extensions are being announced for many of the shows, check out the official Hollywood Fringe Festival website for schedule information.
With close to four hundred shows in the festival, June proved to be a thrilling, emotional and challenging month. We hope you managed to see something that made you laugh or cry or lifted your spirits! (Or completely emotionally devastated you… you know… if you are into that sort of thing, haha!)

Episode 75 – Catching Up From Life
Episode in
My Haunt Life
In this episode, we get caught up on the shows we’ve seen and things we’ve done over the last couple of months. We both had family emergencies and had to travel back to Mississippi and Massachusetts for a month each and due to those travels, a lot of these shows/reviews are a bit out of date. Even if the shows we talk about have ended their run, the companies still remain and will have new shows to check out!
Russell was able to finally try to escape from Escape Room LA‘s “Pyramid”. Screamfest‘s anniversary screenings and Q&As have been fantastic! E3W came back with their new show “Bitter at the End”. Las Vegas has some “Serial Killers You Know and Love” by Majestic Repertory. The 5th Annual Spookshow came and went at Halloween Club as did this years Monsterpalooza. Mike was able to “check out” room B340 at the Queen Mary. Russell was among “They Who Saw the Deep” from Ceaseless Fun and saw “Wood Boy Dog Fish” from Rogue Artists. Force of Nature Productions gave us two shows to check out, “The Bereaved” and “Seven”. The New Bad Boys of Magic continue their monthly show “Dirty Tricks” and Urban Death from Zombie Joe continues to make Russell disturbed. We get to open two Boxes of Dread and Mike kind of guilt trips Russell to watch A Serbian Film.
