My Ireland Adventure was created by Laurie Calahan, a Southern gal and American artist born and based in Shreveport, LA, and Joe Ormonde, an award-winning Irish photographer and tour guide, born and based in Kilsheelan, County Tipperary, Ireland. The great thing about My Ireland Adventure is that BOTH sides of the "pond" are represented, so if you have any questions, you get the best of both worlds to answer them! In this episode, Joe and Laurie discuss the rich history and attractions of Cobh, County Cork's harbor town and the last port of call of the Titanic. This quaint coastal town is the home of St. Colman's Cathedral, an elaborately ornate Neo-gothic cathedral, which happens to be a favorite among tourists.  Joe also touches on the Lusitania and a figure of controversy who will make a more complete appearance in Episode 11 ;) Join us and enjoy!

Episode 9: Kindred Spirits

In this episode Laurie explains about her Irish, and native American heritage, and how she found her true home and spirit in Ireland.  We travel across the Knockmealdown mountain range from Tipperary into Waterford, where the legend and spirit of "Petticoat Lucy" lives on in Bay Lough.  The road will take us into the town of Lismore and chat about Lismore castle, and Ballysaggertmore Towers.  We will also discuss the connection between Ireland and the Choctaw nation in the town of Midleton, county Cork, where there is a monument erected to commemorate the bond.

In this episode, Joe and Laurie will take you to the 5000 year old passage tomb in Knockroe, on the Tipperary /  Kilkenny border, which is also the area where Laurie lives in Ireland.  In addition, a drive along the "Magic Road", in the Comeragh mountains, and the beautiful surrounds of the Mahon Falls is included,  before going to the Copper coast of Waterford, and finishing off with a visit to the Dunbrody famine ship.
