Frank Jay Porcaro/ The World That's a Mind and The World That's a Spirit

00:00:28- Harriet : Hello friends, hello listeners. Today we have Frank Jay Porcaro. He’s an international speaker and coach who is facilitating transformation retreats and works with his clients globally. There are so many interesting things we’re going to learn about Frank Jay today. 00:00:40- Harriet: One of the things I want you to take away is that he is just a human being, a human doing, and he is travelling spreading his message. He is an inspiration to many of us millennials.  If you’re a millennial woman and you’re listening to this right now you’re going to want to grab your pen, you’re going to grab your notebook coz today is going to be juicy. Welcome to the show Frank Jay. 00:01:00- Frank: Thanks so much Harriet, it is an honor. And I love how you said it, a human doing and a human being. Because this isn’t like a mastery of push and pull. 00:01:11- Harriet: Absolutely it is and I completely believe that every single person is just being and doing the best that they can with what they have available. 00:01:18- Harriet: I love it and I would love to begin. It would be an honor for you to give us a little bit of background on what’s really truly exciting you to the fingertips all the way down to your toes about what you are doing in your business and in your life right now. 00:01:37- Frank: That’s amazing. Well I just died and I transformed. And I’m super grateful for that. So what I mean by that, I have just died to the old story of myself. I just died to the past habits and I just died to the part of my subconscious mind that was attached to goals. And I’ve transformed. And it’s interesting because the crow has been following me for the last 6 days. I’ve never seen a crow around here until 6 days ago. Apparently the symbolism of the crow is death and transformation. 00:02:20- Frank: And that’s what’s really exciting. And on the other hand on the business aspect, I’m really excited.  I just launched a new site that has my first ever downloadable mixed tape for free for people that want to start a relationship with me. And that’s really awesome and I am flying to San Diego on Friday preparing for my Costa Rica retreat and producing some amazing valuable content for my audience. So there’s a lot of good things. 00:02:56-  Frank: And I think what I’m most excited about is that I feel most at peace I’ve ever been and the most connected with myself and spirit. 00:03:05- Harriet: Wow! And before we get into the interview I would love to ask you a question that’s in front of my mind because I’ve been following you and noticing a lot of things that you are doing on social media and it’s a really important question. I’m sure you’re going to have a lot to say on it. 00:03:24 Harriet: What message is most important for us millennials right now? 00:03:28- Frank: When you asked that question I felt that deeply actually. I think the message is that, Hey brothers and sisters, we are living in an incredible time. Our parents were completely conditioned by an old system and they have brought us up like that too. So there’s a lot of fear of getting a job and settling down and working for the system. But you know inside your heart there’s an inkling, and that inkling speaks to you loudly whether you’re listening or not. But it speaks to you and you know that it speaks to you and saying, I don’t want to settle, I don’t want to grow up like my parents. 00:04:12 Frank: There is a new world. There’s a unity in us as people and this internet is our tool to transfer information and to become free. So the message, brothers and sisters that you can become free. You can go into cyberspace and pull out of the old system. You can become wealthy very easily. You can do what you love and form tribes from all over the world remotely. And most of all, you can pull away from the restriction. But I would also suggest that while you’re on this path, remember that there’s two worlds. There’s a world that’s a mind, and there’s a world that’s a spirit. And the world of the mind and the spirit, these have the same components. There’s component of sexuality, there’s component of money, there’s component of relationships. Every single component of both worlds are the same, but there’s a different feeling, a different approach, a different experience, whether you’re tapped into spirit or whether you’re tapped into mind. 00:05:17- Frank: So for example, money. We’ve been very manipulated with our mind and a lot of people are in scarce states about money. However, you can use money and experience money in a very spiritual way. And so what I say is to tap into the deeper part of yourself and to your own truth and to walk boldly in that truth. Knowing that yes, you’re going to pull away from restriction to freedom. But don’t go from one restriction to another restriction, from one religion into spirituality, so one dogma into another dogma. Now find your freedom by developing your own philosophy and tapping into spirit which will guide you to actual peace and fulfillment. Not just a fake fantasy, not just a fantasy world. Let’s get out of that world of manipulation. We’ve been manipulated ever since we were born so let’s move to a higher realm and lift everybody up around us. That’s what the message would be in a nutshell. 00:06:13- Harriet: I love it! Thanks for summing up the differences between the mind and the spirit. I feel a lot of people do get trapped between… they get trapped in their old stories. 00:06:24- Harriet: Speaking of stories, I would love for you to share, I know your story is one of great detail, of great pain to power to empowerment, but I would love for you to share the basics of how you came to be from a place of unsuccess, of the place of not having what you wanted to a place now where you’re living free and doing what you love. 00:06:47- Frank: Right. I grew up, two older sisters and my mom. My father left when I was a baby. He got into drugs and I stopped seeing him when I was 10. I used to see him every other weekend until I was 10… from what I know he abused my mother mentally. And my mom had to struggle and work 2-3 jobs to take care of 3 kids and so me and my sisters were always left home. She really cared about us, however, you understand, everyone can understand when someone is so stressed. There is no manual to handle that stress or anyone to really rely on. You can break. Meaning that we can have emotional outburst and cause a lot of trauma on the people we love. In short I experienced very domestic violence at home so I grew up very confused and anxious. I definitely had friends growing up but I was getting into drugs, fighting, getting kicked out of school, almost going to jail. And what kept me on the path, sort of straight was sports. 00:08:01- Frank: I never really felt like I belonged. I always felt lonely, I always felt confused. I always knew that there was something more. I never felt part of my family to be honest. But at 18 years old I got a job at a nursing home. All my supposedly friends moved away to college and I was just feeling so distant from my family, from my friends. I was alone. Internally I was alone. 00:08:24- Frank: And I was experiencing really intense anxiety attacks and depression. I started to become aware of patterns. One person going into a relationship, breaking up with that person, finding the same person just looking a bit like human. And my mother struggling with money, the same type of patterns. Never having money on time for the bills, and just people complaining. And then I started working in a nursing home where people on their deathbed were still complaining. Who was right, who was wrong. Like blaming the nurses, blaming their family. Does anybody get the damn message, at even on your deathbed at 90 years old, you still don’t get the message? 00:09:14- Frank: On the other hand too there’s countless amount of people that I’ve witnessed on their deathbed that I’ve had conversations with that they regretted their life. That they wished they lived their life differently. And with all the combination of that intensity of that experience around 18 years old created a shift inside of my feelings and I became aware that there was an inkling inside of me. First of all is suffering, what do I do? Do I change my life or do I sit here and die, like I felt like I was dying so I had no other choice so I really changed my life to surrender. I continued to change my life to surrender. I started this call. I died and transformed this past month. And I surrendered. I didn’t really do anything. I just surrendered. And again I changed my life. I’m listening to the signs, to life by surrendering. And so I surrendered to that inkling. I didn’t know what motivational speaking was. I didn’t know what philosophy was. I had no view of the world. I was living in my own little world and I started to seek and I found information. And I studied it like my life depended on it and I got results. 00:10:28- Frank: And along that path of me feeling better on a daily basis and going through my own transformation, I started to become aware that I had tendencies of inspiring and motivating people. And it’s so funny because I used to get kicked out of school, not kicked out, I mean taken out of class to go to a special speech class because I had speech impairments and I was embarrassed. My friend in high school called me “Fwank”, because I could not pronounce my “R’s”. and I was so embarrassed about that even when I was older. I had a very poor vocabulary so it’s interesting because I went to train that myself. I started to look up information online. I started to read, I started to find out how to learn. Not just learning but how to learn. And I trained myself to speak much more articulate than I have ever had. And now I get paid to speak. I get paid to write. I turned my weakness into my greatest gift. And I felt just really compelled, I felt like this was my destiny. I made a soul commitment and there was a spirituality in the beginning. In the beginning I knew that there was a larger purpose. I felt like that inkling was not just God in the religious books. Essentially it started in religion but I felt more like there was a force inside of me that was going to take me to a beautiful life. I had a great intention to serve others in the world. And it was much larger than my weakness and my psychology at that time but I trusted that. And I trusted it so boldly and I can’t describe just many transformations and now I’m super blessed and super grateful. 00:12:24- Frank: And I pulled out of restriction essentially. It was almost like I was swimming in a lake and swamp thing came and grabbed me, pulling me under the water. It was that intense in the beginning where I had to swim my ass up to the top and get out of that swamp. That’s how much I pushed. 00:12:50- Harriet: It’s such a great metaphor, the swamp. And frankly I feel there’s a lot of human beings who are in the swamp. Like it suddenly appeared they’ve been in the swamp so long they don’t know what not being in it is like. 00:13:05- Harriet: What kind of tools do you have in your tool belt that you would suggest. Just some basic starting points for persons who like you were is currently feeling a little bit swamped or a lot swamped. 00:13:19- Frank: This is important. You got to spend time alone. You got to cut out your influence. Because if you know it or not the people around you are highly influencing you and emotionally draining you. Consciously and unconsciously. I would say cut out your proximity with most people. Spend more time alone in nature ideally because nature is so nurturing. And start writing questions out on a notebook and answering those questions. Get to know yourself. Take care of yourself. Just simple things. Make it your priority honoring yourself like taking baths, running, exercising, eating well, drinking a lot of water, being alone. I would say the simple tool is be alone. Be alone and take care of yourself because what’s going to happen in that contemplation, in that pondering is that you’re going to start, one, you get comfortable in your own presence which is essential on this path. In a way you have stand alone, in the beginning. In most cases it’s very lonely. So you have to really develop a confidence like you trust in yourself. And so being alone and pondering ideally with a notebook and taking care of yourself because then you feel better and you have more clarity. That’s just simple. 00:14:40- Harriet: Nice, I love it how you kept it simple. A lot of people want to give you a million hundred tools. But I love that time alone really gives you the space to answer those internal questions. By writing them down you actually get to process and acknowledge them too. 00:14:57- Frank: Yeah, and cut out the influence of people. Like stop asking your mom for advice, stop asking your dad for advice. Stop asking your best friend. They have no freaking idea. They can only tell you what they know and all they know is restriction, most likely. So start to rely on yourself and seek out mentors. People that really did remarkable things that have a whole other mindset and they’re collective. You’ll find them in books, now in the internet, you can find the information. 00:15:32- Harriet: That’s true. Who are the top 3 people, who are your influencers, the non - restricting people who lived remarkable lives that you look up to right now? 00:15:42- Frank: One of my teachers is a man that goes by the name of Stuart Wild. So in his earlier days his teaching really resonates with me, sort of shifted towards the late 90s. he has passed away but in his earlier days I’m really learning from him now. 00:15:59- Harriet: That’s awesome. And what is one of the greatest take aways that you found from studying with him? 00:16:03- Frank: Don’t take life personally. You’re not here to please people. And challenge beliefs, challenge belief systems. Like even challenge your own beliefs. Like why the heck do I believe this crap? Why am I struggling? Why am I banging my head against the wall? Stop, and pull back and maybe climb over the wall. Or not even go that way. Let’s go another way. You know it’s that simple. Simplicity. 00:16:33- Harriet: I love it and I appreciate your honesty. 00:17:08- Frank: Life is changing. We’re living in a fast moving world. It’s not the same. Most of the cases of our parents, they are living in very slow moving reality. As you climb you start to oscillate faster, your energy is moving faster, you get new experience, you’re learning quicker. Things are happening, relationships are coming in, coming out. Just got to get used to change. Keep going. 00:17:44- Harriet : If you went back, 10, 15, 20 years, what’s one of those moments that have occurred in your life you wished you could drop down in and tell your old self something or reverse something, if anything, what would it be for you? 00:17:59- Frank : I don’t think I would reverse anything. I know that’s like a cliché thing. I want it at all. I’ve taken on everything and it’s all coming full circle. It’s amazing. I love how restricted I was in the past. I love how much pain I went through, how much confusion I went through. Like recently I’m still confused at certain subjects. I love it! I love it because I am developing depth and understanding at a deep level. I’m going to master it. Period. So I love it. 00:18:40- Frank: I would like to go back during my very big transformation around 18, 20 years old and really understand what was going on, on a deep spiritual level. It was so intense. I would like to understand that. 00:19:05- Frank: I feel like I died and reborn. I died so many times on this path and that’s something I want to offer your listeners as well is that Hey, don’t be afraid to die. Your ego is going to be afraid to die to the relationship. It’s going to be afraid to die to a past identity. Don’t be afraid to die. That’s the mind of the world, I mean that’s the world of the mind. That’s not all there is, there’s a deeper intelligence. It’s called the world of the spirit and it access to your heart and it speaks to you. It sees things the mind can’t see and knows things the mind can’t explain. You ask from the mind, you get from the mind. It’s never satisfied, it’s like a bitching baby that’s complaining. Sometimes you got to say, Shut up.. I’m going this way I don’t care what you say. Shut up! You got to tame that mind because that’s essentially what’s causing us distress. No one else. 00:20:27- Frank: I love how challenged we are by our mind. If some of your listeners are still thinking that it’s their mom or their dad, their boss or the society, or blah blah blah, you’re already lost. You’re done. If you’re buying into that crap you have no chance. You got to take personal responsibility and realize that all of life is coming at you and you are getting exactly what you are. Not what you want, what you are. Not who you are as an individual. Your energy. What you are. Are  you balanced or imbalanced? Because the very fact of blaming people is creating imbalance inside your energy patterns. 00:21:12 Frank: The truth is, I’m glad that the mind is so freaking sporadic because your path, your quest is a matter of centering your mind and emotions and tapping into that spirit through the heart. And as you do that you develop trust. It’s going the complete opposite way. And how much do you really trust? Your listeners, if you believe in God or universe, the law of attraction and all the shit that you hear from all these people? Then put it to test! Stop talking about it. Stop praying and hoping and wishing and waiting for a miracle to happen. Put it to test! Get on the plane and go! Buy your one-way plane ticket and see how much you can believe in yourself and your quest. And how much you believe in God and the universe to provide for you. Because most people won’t do it. They won’t put it to test, because they’re scared. And I’ve been scared too. I’ve been scared again and again and again. But I have been in options where I burned the bridges and I had no other choice but to rely on the universe or God. And it pulled through. And those experiences have developed a rich internal experience. You take everything away from me and here I am. I wake up and do the same thing. I’ll figure it out. I’m not affected. I move on, because I have created that relentlessness inside of myself by putting myself in these wild experiences. I’m not suggesting there’s only one way to do that. Trust in yourself. Believe in yourself, love and believe in others and if you really believe in God and the universe and the law of attraction then put it to test. Stop talking about it and take responsibility and go forth. 00:23:30- Harriet: What is one healthy living golden nugget that everyone should live by? What do you believe every person should live by? 00:23:44- Frank: Human touch. I think touch is incredibly healing and whether you don’t have a human to touch then hug yourself. 00:24:01- Frank: I think I’ve heard this statistic. Where there’s two babies and they got the same amount of attention. One got touched and the other one was deprived of touch. And the one that did get touched grew large, and grew stronger, healthier and had more weight on it, more vital. And the other one was weak and frail. So human touch is incredibly healing. Either you have someone to touch or hug yourself or go get a massage. 00:25:11- Frank: Also another recommendation is concentration. Not just touch but concentration on yourself, on your life, on your highest good. Concentrating on your being present with others. Concentration is what makes things real. Our life is a collection on what we’re concentrating on. 00:25:40- Harriet: I totally believe that 100%. 00:25:56- Harriet: Let’s head onto the quick fire questions. What are you currently reading that’s inspiring you? 00:26:00- Frank: A book. I just finished a book. I have a bunch of books I am reading at this time. I just finished a book called Sex from Oschio (?). It’s about sexuality in the eyes of spirit rather than the mind and I feel like that’s very significant because that is a huge part of being human and there’s a lot of shame, a lot of guilt and a lot of restriction which creates indulgence. It’s a pathway to the divine and I’m learning about bringing more consciousness into my life and teaching others too. 00:26:55- Harriet: What do you love to eat? 00:27:03- Frank: I like variety. I’ve been eating sauerkraut, hummus, rice cakes, eggs, coconut oil. There’s a mixture I’ve been eating. 00:27:20- Harriet: What’s your most mind-boggling movie today? 00:27:27- Frank: An older movie and it actually has no dialogue, and it’s called Baraka and it’s basically a bunch of scenes of all around the world, different cultures. 00:27:53- Harriet: amazing! And lastly what is your most favorite thing to feel? 00:28:18- Frank: (laughs) That’s so funny. But I want to live my life as authentic as possible. I really like feeling a woman’s body. It’s just being authentic. (laughs) 00:28:42- Frank: But as for emotion, I love feeling gratitude in my heart. When you feel so grateful and your heart just feels open. That’s a good feeling. 00:28:58- Harriet: thank you so much for the interview today. There’s some people that want to find out more about you and I believe you have a great new site and an amazing offering. 00:29:10- Frank: Yes, so I have a downloadable mixed tape if you go to my site. It’s frankjay.tv. You can just basically start a relationship with me by leaving your email and I’ll give you 16 downloadable tracks that will fuel your spirit. Creative, inspiring, informational and would really expand your mind and get you contemplating on a few amazing ideas 00:29:45- Frank: I have a small space in schedule for private coaching so if you go to my site you’ll check out my resources there and if you are inspired to learn more about that you can fill out an application. And it’s very clear, it’s very simple on my site where you can fill out that application. 00:30:08- Harriet: What’s your parting message that you’d love to leave our listeners and friends for today? 00:30:14- Frank: Follow that inkling inside your heart and follow it so courageously and so boldly. Put the universe or God to the test and go for it. Trust me, you have a guiding force inside of you. All of us do. Believe in yourself and love and believe others. 00:30:37- Harriet: Awesome, I appreciate it. Have an amazing day out there. Live. Love. Have an amazing phenomenal day. We love you so much and we can’t wait to have you on more podcasts like this. Bye for now.

Dr. Lauren Noel/ On Epigenetics and Genetic Diversity

00:00:35- Harriet: Welcome to today’s show! I am super excited to introduce to you Dr. Lo.! Dr. Lo is freaking amazing and fantastic. She’s the owner of the Shine medicine which is really all about fixing your nutrition. Welcome to the show Dr. Lo! 00:01:11- Dr. Lauren: Thank you so much for having me! 00:01:14- Harriet: Amazing! I know I’ve just introduced you but I would love for you to let us know what’s really exciting you in your business right now. What’s getting you motivated to get your message out there? 00:01:25- Dr. Lauren:  So many things excite me and I’m just a walking talking geek. I could get so juiced up about all kinds of things and kind of change day to day for me. I would say right now, one of the things that I really love in my practice is just going a little deeper in different areas with my patients. 00:02:25- Dr. Lauren: I am also really excited about the whole world of Epigenetics and getting into genetic diversity.  How different we all are and how much we have power over what happens with our bodies and with our health.  It’s not like you have this septs of genes and that you are fit. We know and the research now that we can turn on and off our genes depending on specific lifestyles. 00:03:50- Harriet: Wow! That’s pretty awesome! 00:04:15- Harriet: I’d love for you to dive deep into a little bit about your story, where you come from and what’s really set you on the path? You’ve done a lot of learning. I feel like you’ve kind of been learning since you left high school. Let us know what’s been impacting you negative and positive; to lead you on this path of sitting with you for an hour, and helping them get to the bottom of that problems journey. 00:04:36- Dr. Lauren: Well, I think one of the reasons why patients can relate to me is because they get a sense of “I’ve done this, done that”. I’ve done it so much myself personally and I’ve never looked back into “if there’s any mistake or regret”. I don’t regret anything because all of it has play the part in me becoming who I am, to have the empathy and to really be able connect to patients. 00:08:28- Harriet: I love the fact that you did get on what you wanted so you searched for more of a naturopathic doctor. What was really going on for you on that point that you said “I’ve got to try something else”. What was the real Lo? What were you doing? Where were you? Do you remember that experience?  00:08:43- Dr. Lauren: I remember I just finished high school, a friend of mine who went to high school with me; she had her own health problems. She had debilitated Crohn’s disease; to shed, an inflammatory bowel disease. Her body is literally attacking her own digestive tissue. She could have died. She could not absorbed or hold on to nutrients and somehow she found; this is in Colorado, this is where I was at the time. I was probably around nineteen, she signed naturopathic doctor in the Denver area who still made up unto this day and she’s amazing. She help turned her body around. After maybe six months or a year, she was healthier than before she got the disease. I went to that doctor for myself and even though I went for my skin, we didn’t focus on my skin. We focus on the gut. We focus on the inside out. It turned out, my skin eventually cleared up and it became very clear. That’s where I was at the time. I just felt like I had no answers. I felt like there was no one I could see. I was tired of going to conventional doctors for seven minutes at the most. 00:10:10- Dr. Lauren: I remember feeling hopeless. I remember feeling also very sceptical when I first went to the appointment with the doctor. The first visit with her, she spent a lot of time like one and a half or two hours. She was able to connect those different dots. At that time I was not planning to be a doctor. I told her I wanted to be a nutritionist and she goes “Yeah right. You’re going to be a doctor”. She kept telling me “You’re going to be naturopathic doctor”. She got a recommendation for me. I went to medical school. 00:11:03- Harriet:  I’d love for you to share Lauren, there’s this type of person. We see her all the time and she’s listening to what her regular doctor says. She hears about this “naturopath” “natural healing thing” and she thinks it might be “wuwu spiritual like crazy something” and she’s not quite sure. What kind of advise, what would you say to a person to encourage and comfort that person to give it a go? 00:11:36- Dr. Lauren: I think that it’s very confusing to go into the world of natural medicine because you can see someone legit. You could see someone who doesn’t really know their stuff. It’s important to know the difference. One thing I will say is if you are willing to let infuse things into a naturopathic doctor, you really want to know they are a naturopathic doctor or they’re not just a mail order or internet naturopath. I’m not saying that those individuals can’t help people but if you’re really wanting to see someone who is able to mix kind of conventional medicine with natural medicine; that is what a naturopathic doctor is which mean them both. 00:12:13- Dr. Lauren: The best thing I’d say. Go to naturopathic.org. If you can find someone in your area if you want to see someone local, in that way you know if they’re legit, they’re trained or they’re going to an accredited medical school. 00:14:13- Harriet: Is there a specific book that you may recommend for someone who is getting into naturopathic medicine specifically, even if it’s just a short book or a long book? 00:14:20- I remember reading a book that blew my mind. This is back when I first decided to go naturopathic school. It’s called “Optimal Lonas” by Dr. Personnel. It’s like a little love story about natural medicine and it explained a lot more just fundamentally about what naturopathic medicine is, how to really see your body as abducel that can heal. 00:14:51 Dr. Lauren: There’s also natural medicine textbooks, those are really meaty and it’s actually quite expensive but if you want to get some really good research know a lot of information about natural medicine and different treatments and conditions and stuff like that, that’s a great textbook to get. 00:15:20 – Harriet: I would love for you to share to sort of help the listeners really understand what you’re up to. So you’re in California right now, what are some of the popular symptoms that you’ve been noticing that are common between us women? 00:15:35- Dr. Lauren: I am seeing a couple of things. What I’m seeing; a lot of fatigue, that’s probably the number one reason I’m seeing and there’s few reasons for that. We can get into that. The second, what I’m noticing is a lot of fertility issues and it’s happening earlier and earlier. Those are probably the biggest things I’m seeing right now for women.  00:16:05- Harriet: What it is for a lot of us women that first thing that come from? 00:16:09 - Dr. Lauren: For the fatigue; couple things. One is simply stress. That’s a big one because it’s just disrupting the body’s balance so much that it affects the mitochondria. It affects the adrenal system. It affects the brain connecting with the body.  So stress is a big piece. Also, I’ve seen viral virus infection so basically mono. It’s something really common.

Colette Streicher/ Manifesting All Possibilities; A New Method That Rewires The Brain

[00:00:29] Harriet: Hello and welcome to today's absolutely, energetic podcast. Today, I have Colette and I'm so excited to introduce this amazing woman. She's brilliant and there's so much to learn about her. I'm excited for you to listen to this really brilliant podcast. She is licensed in Physiotherapy which is brilliant, and she's the founder of a new method in the field of Phycology. It's called MAP, and I'm so excited to have you learn a little bit more about it. Colette; welcome to the show.    [00:00:57] Colette: Thank you! Thank you Harriet! I'm so excited to be with you too. I am here to share my story, and help as many people as I can during this podcast.    [00:01:08] Harriet: Brilliant! Well, I would love for you to introduce yourself, just a little bit and extend a warm welcome to the listeners who have no idea who you are, or what you’re about.    [00:01:18] Colette: Alright! As you can understand I'm here. I have a French accent, and there is a very good reason for that. I was born in France. When I was 9 years old I was born in the family of 2 vets that had PTSD and diagnosed these tons of addiction and everything. So at 9 years old I was tired of it, and my mom had a third attempt of suicide. I thought she would pass away. And when I realized that, I cried and I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I went to my room and my mom was still alive however, and watched, it was awesome. However, I decided that day, “I will be happy!” That's my mission on the planet and I will help anyone else who wants to be happy. Happiness change direction, first you twist physical, emotional, mental. All my life, I’ve lived for happiness.    [00:02:23] Harriet: Amazing, and I think there were so many listeners Colette who are also looking for happiness. I would love for you to share a little bit of a brief introduction on your business and what's exciting you about this specific area right now.    [00:02:39] Colette: Right now as I have founded 3 years ago MAP; Manifesting All Possibilities. It’s a new method that rewires the brain. Literally within seconds or minutes; and neutralizes negative emotions, beliefs, traumas. That allows so much more happiness in people’s life. I have a coaching Institute and we trained therapist, doctors, chiropractors, etc.; to use that method to help their clients release their stress and traumas and be healthy. And on the other side, I do have my especially which is using MAP for success and money blocks. I do that with CEOs and top rank people in the industry.   [00:03:29] Harriet: Amazing! Thank you for sharing. I've also had something about you that I would love for to confirm. A lot of people Colette had the belief that psychotherapy is a bit "woo" "woo" and it's a little bit puppet show way for them. However, MAP has actually had some scientific research behind. I’ve love for you to elaborate a little bit about, on how proven it is, and what's specifically has been labeled.    [00:03:52] Colette:  Oh! Fantastic, yes! One I begin to do this research I had so much results that I hired a neuroscientist. I wanted to have the proof in the brain. So what we did is; we were able to do a QEEG, which is quantitative electroencephalogram during several of my client’s sessions. The neuroscientist was actually blown away because we could prove exactly how the brain was rewired during the session. And we have now the proof of that.    [00:04:25] Harriet: Wow! I don't know if any listeners know how mind blowing that is. So many people create things in their time but no one actually gets that proven information, so this is just an absolute asset for Colette.    [00:04:58] Colette: Yes, thank you. Do you have any question for me? Do you want me to elaborate on something?    [00:05:05] Harriet: I would love for you to share a little bit about, how some of those things that happened to you have really influenced you? I know that obviously, your mother gave you the decision to be happy. What has really got you to, from that point right now to being the founder of MAP? That's quite a journey, what has been some of the stops along the train ride?   [00:05:29] Colette: It's a 30-year journey. I first begin with the body, happiness and with that being a physical issue because I had bronchitis at 18, like 6 months in a row. I begin with physical issue and then I treated this with natural health using organic food. What I was doing is, actually lived in a farm, literarily when I was 20. And then I realized I still have traumas and emotions that had to be released. And I spent another 10 years going to different therapists, going to the cutting edge as much as I could and clear that up. Then I ended up realizing that the mind is the most important. Believing in your health or in your happiness or what you want to create in your life is the core elements. So I realized we are powerful beings with our mind. I was looking for method that would allow me to help my clients; not only we clean up the past but line their mind to their dreams. And that’s where MAP came in.    [00:07:40] Harriet: What would you say, some of the most common problem that you see amongst all of the people that come to you are?   [00:07:50] Colette: Wow, so if it's the kind that come to me personally as I say, they come from business and money blocks. The most important problem is; their unconscious self-image doesn’t line up with earning more. So they have a negative self-image, low self-esteem, low self-love and tons of negative beliefs they have acquired in their lifetime. So that's what we need to clear.    [00:08:58] Harriet: It sounds like you’re able to transform some people. Do you have a transformational story about someone who's work with you that you'd love to share right now?   [00:09:07] Colette: I have a lot in the money part, because that's what I do a lot. But right now, I have clients, I helped mentally go through the whole trends of treatment, and she ended up absolutely zero side effects. She had chosen the drugs and the whole traditional approach, but at the same time I could support her with the mind and released all the beliefs around side effects. She ended up having none. So when she went to the doctors every month, they have 40 different side effects that they were talking asking her about, and she had zero of them.  That's just one real story here.   [00:09:57] Wow, that is so phenomenal. And especially because some people do like to choose the conventional approach, because they feel they can have some belief in that. There are a lot of people who have been through. So amazing that she had zero effects, that is truly phenomenal. And would you be able to share to the listeners Colette a little bit about what you are taking her through?   [00:10:23] Colette: What I was taking her through is any kind of trauma. So there were two aspects of it. One was trying to find the original trauma, and then created the cancer. It was a breast cancer, and we went through her family issues, and mother's issues, etc. That is my method. I can find those events within minutes and clear down within minutes.    [00:10:54] Colette: After that we were working on the different chemicals that she might have been allergic to, etc. and the brain can actually want higher energy system, can actually learn to be more friendly if she wants or to accept more those chemicals.    [00:11:27] Harriet: I got a really important question that's right at the front of my mind. It might be slightly sensitive question. I understand a little bit Colette about how people's energy work. I'm curious to ask you because obviously this is a podcast around health, when you’re working with people who have such negative energy's that occurring for them and to them, how are you able to stop this energy’s absorbing into your being and yourself?   [00:11:55] Colette: For me that's really easy because I take care of myself. That's the number one thing I have. I practice what I teach so I’ve done my own work. On a daily basis, I practice appreciation, actually; very high level of energy and vibration. So I learn to think positively to feel good. I do everything to eat well, I take care of myself. So I’m in such healthy space when I am with someone. They tend to be lifted up and never go down. So it takes a lot of inner work and personal focus but I love it because it makes me happy.    [00:12:46] Harriet: Wow! And you shared, one of the first thing you shared was “You practice appreciation!” Now, how do you define that? What is that specifically mean to you?   [00:12:57] Colette: Appreciation, that's interesting. At first, I knew that appreciation was the highest vibration on this planet. The highest positive faults and emotions you can have. And at first I didn’t feel anything so I trained my heart to actually feel like that, by looking at beautiful things and nature, etc. And for me it ends a very simple practice I called it “the sentimentra”. The first thought I have in the morning when I wake up; to give you a practical application, when I wake up, the first thought I have is thanking you, thank you, thank you! And I begin to say thank you for no good reason. After a while, I have "oh thank you! I love my sheets, I love the air-conditioning, and I'm looking for things that I appreciate. And then all along my day, I do the same.    [00:14:22] Harriet: Wow! Thank you! For our listeners who maybe listening just then, and listening so attentively that you may have miss some of the detail. The first thing that Colette does when she absolutely practices appreciation is; she says thank you, she wakes up. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the air conditioning machine, for everything. She imagined, if she's struggling what would life be like without having him. How would my life be different if I didn’t have that car? And then looking for something to appreciate when you're walking around, when you buy a bottle of water, when you're getting lunch with the colleague, look for something to appreciate in everything you do. Did I get that right?   [00:14:58] Yes and actually what I have done is, I have associated it with different event in my life. So each time I go to the restroom, I look around for something to appreciate. Each time I get out of my house, I look around to have something to appreciate. Each time I get in my car, I appreciate my car. Each time I get out, I look for the weather. So I associated it with several, because if you don’t make a decision that each time you’re going to do that, you’re associated with appreciation; you're not going to do it. Your day will pass and you will completely be forgotten, but if you do the effort for day or two, you will actually get in the happy day appreciation. It's going to be very easy. And it keeps you feel good all day long.    [00:15:57] Harriet: Some other things that I would love for you to share. I know, and it really sounds like you have a complete wealth of knowledge. I would love for you to share some of the big pieces of advice you've really experience and you’ve received over your time when it comes to working on your own mindset and those around you.    [00:16:15] Colette: I think it's important. There are three things to consider. There is the past; you need to consider your past. Your past does exist in your brain, it doesn't exist anymore but it does affect you profoundly. If there is anymore, any conflicts, any things like that that you've never solved, this is affecting your health. And this is also affecting your success. Then you need to consider the present, you need to be present in life. So meditating, relaxing, taking time to smell the roses, I actually do that. Be present because there is nothing that really exist in the present moment, so remind yourself nothing exist the past doesn't exist; the future doesn’t exist yet. My power is now. “How can I be in my body?” Present, thrive now, breathing and appreciating. Actually when you appreciate you have to be present, so it's connected to the exercise I gave you before. And then, begin to visualize and imagine your future. I'm really well known for a method that I called magnetizing, and it's about focusing on what you desire; your health because I know you're listening for your health, and for well-being, and for happiness. Think about what you truly desire in your heart, and then begin to think about it and feel how that would make you feel. Focus on that five minutes a day. Take time to pre-pave your future to really rewire your brain, and give it a command; literally a command that that’s what you want and that's so important.    [00:18:11] Harriet: That is truly a phenomenal gift so first thing on the past, present and your future. Thank you so much! That's such easy to explain but hard to practice to so many people, so that's going to be great. I would love for you to share something, that's important to me but also to a lot of people who are listening. I would love for you to share one simple thing that you feel our listeners should do to take a movement today towards that ideal health, wealth and happiness.    [00:18:51] Colette: I think it's believing; believing in your health. This is one thing that nobody really talks about when you go to the doctor. When you go train to look for techniques, for the “how” for everything like that, but you’re putting the course before the cart, the cart before the horse. You need to believe in your health. That is your journey. You’re not going to believe immediately but you want to begin thinking about "Why is it that I could believe that my health is possible, that I could heal”. It could be looking for testimonials or stories that will confirm that no matter what you have from Cancer to anything you can imagine, there is someone in the planet that are healed from it, very easily, perhaps miraculously, perhaps with different things but read about success stories. And that will begin to build up your belief.    [00:20:28] Harriet: And it's not just health that you need to build belief, but if you want to be wealthy, you need to build belief for you to call that nature the ecology of believing that you can. When it comes to happiness, even if you’re on the brink of suicide; you can turn and notice how small and insignificant but still magically it can be. Every single thing needs a foundation so thank you so much for reminding not only me but every single other person of that two.    [00:21:01] Colette: And for many, absolutely that's one of my course you know, magnetizing millions. You’re aware of it and in that course we review all those patterns and make sure that you believe in what you dream. For money issues or for health it works the same way.    [00:21:20] Harriet: Nice, Well I know you Colette that you are working with some truly amazing huge, successful names. You’re also working with average people. But then at the same time, it’s important to remember that you’re just human being to. I would love for you to share a time travel moment, so let’s say you went back in time 20, 30 years old or how many you feel. Is there a message you would love to tell your old self?    [00:21:45] Colette: My old self, I would say trust, trust the universe, trust life; it always works out. It always works out for me and when you look back; you're still alive because you're listening to this podcast and therefore, it has worked out for you. And so, just remind yourself it always works out in the end. You might have challenges. You might have bones in the road but keep focusing on where you wanted to go. Keep learning how to believe, how to trust and you will see. Life always works out.    [00:22:25] Harriet: Is there anything Colette that maybe surprised you that it simply worked out in your experience?   [00:22:34] Colette: Well it doesn’t surprise me because I know the laws of the universe. I know that when you focus on what you want and you believe; I’ve learn that when I was 17. So that's when I was the most surprised. I actually I manifested my soul mate and had just thought about him about a few months and it was the first; coming out of my house when it was like a nightmare, and I went with him to a beautiful place where I was in love and I was loved and that’s the beginning of my life of success and happiness. That’s what surprised me the most. Being able at the time to manifest my soul mate and have such a beautiful person supporting me in my life who helped me grow and yeah, I'm very grateful for that.    [00:23:31] Harriet: And because he surprised you, how did you know? What is the moment that told you, this is it? Here he is! It could just been any person, can’t you?    [00:23:42] Colette: I knew instantaneously because I have done this work that I was talking about magnetizing. I begin when I was 17, and I did this specific exercise and my focus was on my heart. I absolutely felt love for someone and for such a strong way for a few months; that when I met him, it was at first sight. That means within seconds, I knew there's something special, and less than a minute I was like “Oh my”. And I wanted to know if this person already had a girlfriend and then that was it.    [00:24:41] Harriet: Nice, I felt like one of the key concepts that overlaps of everything you’ve been talking about, is be looking. Be looking for appreciation, be looking for miracles, and be looking for the one. Have that in front of your mind because then you’re way more likely to see it. So many people Colette, they walk around and they don’t have any idea what they're doing. Looking for being seen, having, and I think such a great thing for you to remind me and everyone of, and that is “to be looking”.    [00:25:07] Colette: Absolutely, be looking into your future, believe in it, feel it. Like I was feeling that I would be loved one day; that I was already loved. And then I created all my life like that. By looking in the future and believing in it, and feeling for it, and then looking for it, and expecting it.    [00:25:28] Harriet: Nice, Thank you. I feel Colette that you are very experienced person. These questions are going to land on very well and you can have some great things to say about it, and that is this. The Naked Health Warriors Podcast is all about helping people strip back naked, totally bet of what works when it comes to their health, their wealth and their happiness. And you see the most important critical thing is different from every person. It could mean a million things. So what is real health mean to you and why is it so important?   [00:26:02] Colette: For me, it's happiness. I begin with that when I was 9 and still here. Being happy is the most important thing. When I wake up every morning and have a peaceful heart. I'm at peace. I think that's one of my thankful. I’m thankful for having a peaceful heart and for being happy.    [00:26:49] Harriet: Awesome, I love that. Thank you! What is one healthy living nugget like golden nugget that you believe every single human being should live by?    [00:27:03] Colette: Of course, you want to take care of your temple, of your body. So, I think it's very important. I begin early so I don't realize how important it is. I have lived like that since I was 20. I've been into organic food and that’s more than 30 years ago. So just take care of your body, eat well, take time, relax, do things that are good for your body. It's your temple. If you don't have that, you don't have a lot. And happiness is not going to be there.    [00:27:56] Harriet: Are there any specific health practices that you swear by, for example Chiropractic water, juicing. What is, what really am holds your health together?   [00:28:06] Colette:  For me, it's organic. I am very general about that. Mainly as long it is organic. I can't almost, I don't eat anything else than organic food. So that's my number one. After that, you find your own juicing or whatever. I’ve not found one thing. I'm just following my intuition on that, and it moves along the years. Along the 30 years of experiences in natural health.    [00:29:02] Harriet: There's one thing I would love to get your opinion on, and that is the beliefs that's been passed on to me through a lot of people who I've interviewed. I want to see if you agree and that is that, when it comes to your body, one of the things that you should truly listen to is the body, and you should follow your intuition. Have you seen many examples of this in the work that you have been doing?     [00:29:24] Colette: Absolutely! That's the absolute key. Actually I have worked sometimes with women who were eating emotionally. They have disconnected from their bodies, so they're not listening with intuition and that's what I have trained in my body.    [00:30:31] Harriet: I’m glad that you also see from that perspective, that’s awesome! I would like to wrap up and jump into the clarity round. What is your favorite movie currently?   [00:30:50] I don't watch a lot of movies. That’s the truth. I don't have TV and oh! Just for fun I like the Yes Man because I became the Yes Woman. I go for it in life, and I say yes no matter what.    [00:31:14] Harriet: And what is your favorite smell?   [00:31:16] Colette: Roses.    [00:31:18] Harriet: And your favorite food?   [00:31:26] Colette: Raspberries    [00:31:28] Harriet: Who is your current hero, public or private.   [00:31:31] Colette: Public will be Tony Robins, private is my husband.   [00:31:39] Harriet: Do you have a favorite book?   [00:31:42] Colette: I have so many of them, but yes, a very good book to begin with, to know how powerful you are that you can do beyond anything you want.    [00:32:01] Harriet: What is the most effective thing you do?   [00:32:06] Colette: My work.    [00:32:30] Harriet: Can you share one of your personal habits that you feel strongly contributes to your successful health, wealth and well-being.    [00:32:37] Colette: It's the gratitude, definitely that's it.    [00:32:44] Harriet: Do you have any technical piece of equipment or app, or built or training or other tool that your body and mind cannot live without.    [00:32:54] Colette: Well I discovered the vibration machine. It's a machine that you stand on and it vibrates so strongly that your muscles are working so hard and it is my “dream come true”.    [00:33:37] Harriet: Awesome and I love it. One last question; who are 3 people who you can put us in touch with that you would love to see on this podcast?   [00:33:48] Colette: I think Dr. Kay, who is a doctor from chiropractor but not just a chiropractor, he is like an incredible 20 years of studying, and he's an expert in very difficult cases in health that would be him. He's in Austin. There is someone that does allergy’s sensitivity that I like very much. She works with a machine that sends frequencies through the regions. That machine is Canadian. I think Dr. Latika Fishers, she's also having a machine that reads your entire body and I just sent a line, patient over there. She could read exact strand of line and she's very specific and she was able to neutralize a gain using frequencies. The one in the middle is Courtney Mielke.    [00:35:24] Harriet: Thank you so much for those recommendations. They sound like brilliant people. I'm excited to get in touch with them.    [00:35:37] Harriet: Colette, you've been brilliant. I appreciate some things that you've brought to the table and literally giving us the recipe for appreciating every single thing, having peace and really centering ourselves into happiness. Is there any last word or any message that you would like to leave the business world today?   [00:35:57] Colette: You can do, have anything you want, when you believe it, so you can be healthy, you can be happy and you can create the most modeless life. There is no limit towards you can do.    [00:36:13] Harriet: Amazing! Colette you have been so full of knowledge and I know that the listeners are going to find out a little more about MAP. So I know that your site is rich with so many things and that is www.mapcoachinginstitute.com/joy . What are some of the amazing things that they can find there?   [00:36:42] Colette: So this is the gift page that she just gave. They will have a ladder of emotions so that they can check where they are and become aware of what they feel which is the step no. 1 in order to be able to feel good, you need to know where you are, at first. There is a well-being meditation, there will be, my book is coming up somewhere in September/October. They will have a free copy of my book, Abundance In Demand. And there will be also ability for them to join the group course; a group class, a webinar to learn more about MAP. So once they go to that link, they will have the access to all of that.    [00:37:26] Harriet: Wow! That's an abundance of gift. Thank you so much! What a tremendous thing for them to have.    [00:37:32] Colette: And they can look over the website.  www.mapcoachinginstitute.com look a little bit on that, on the research and your stories, things like that to familiarize their selves about MAP, if they're interested.    [00:37:48] Harriet: Thank you so much! Listeners you have been listening to Harriet Worth and Collette Streicher and this has been the Naked Health Warriors podcast. We are helping you to live your happiest, healthiest, wealthiest life and we loved you to stay tuned for more interviews just like this amazing one, on I tunes, podcast. Have an amazing day. Mason Taylor/ The Philosophy On Slipperiness of The mind

Hello and Welcome to today's Podcast. Today we have Mason Taylor who is a very interesting human and I'm so excited to have brought him to the table. He's an expert when it comes to unifying human beings and allowing them to love, all aspects of themselves. He describes himself as a tonic herbalism guru, he talks a lot about the floss pin I'm really excited to be able to share it with you. He's also a speaker, a health educator, podcast - just like myself. We'll gonna be having some very interesting conversations today. Mason, Welcome to the show! Mason: Thank you very much. I don't know, I think I quite define myself as a guru but I'm very much love tonic herbs and all that other stuff you've been talking about. Harriet: Amazing! Excited to hear a little bit more about it. I would love to turn over to you for you to talk a little bit about you, what you’re up to? And what's really exciting you right now in your given area? [00:01:22]  Mason: Cool! I've been on this path of getting myself healthy, for the last seven years but really in terms of developing a philosophy and I call it kind of like a slipperiness of the mind. Staying out of any kind of sense of rigidity and the way that I approach life. I've been doing that my whole life about seven years ago, I was in South America and Honolulu experience where I dropped into my body and realized that there was some stuff going on my body that I wasn't really quite happy about. I didn't know that the time that I was overrun with fungus, I should have known that it was obvious it was coming out of my arm. Quite severe adrenal fatigue and I just really wasn't that vibrant, considering I was only 20s and start from there, I got back from Aus and I did the whole like jump in the day bed of health, I really jumped in to the daybed like hardcore cleansing, hardcore diet in terms of raw foods, juicing, fasting. [00:02:22]  Mason: Just the name of maybe go through that process of cleansing my body of all the parasites, and bacteria, and all those other nasties that we collect in our body living in this crazy world. From there I really discord into creating a personal culture for myself that wasn't just dictated to me or defined to me based on this society that I grew up in. I started really embodying this core aspects of health and to my lifestyle including drinking the best water that I can possibly get my hands on going in becoming a spring water collector. Started getting into tonic herbalism which is the herbalism that you take herbs before you get sick, so you don't get sick and can help tone your organs. [00:03:29]  Mason: My life is about health, my life is about potentiating my body and expanding that out in that search for greater levels of health. So I'm just really focusing on crafting from going into that next phase at the same time I still got my retreats running where people come up, visit me up we go through that whole process of opening up people's detoxification channels, getting them into the elements really immerse, getting them sun bathing, getting them feeling their nervous system, feeling their hormonal system and getting that new reference point that how to really rest and restore your body and activate that potential vitality that's inside of them. [00:04:40]  Mason: Doing that and running my business, dishing out medicinal mushroom tonic herbal goodies to people all over the world. [00:06:17]  Harriet: You mentioned a few things that I would love for you to go a little bit deeper, the first was when you're taking about your personal coacher, one of the things that you associated with tonic herbalism was toning your organs ,would you be able to enlighten us a little, what that specifically means for the person? [00:06:36]  Mason: Every organs obviously going to be different and toning is, we understand what toning is on an aesthetic muscular level. Like if someone that their arm is flabby and then all of a sudden they work it out for a few months and they can begin to tone the muscles of their arms. The same thing can happen with organs, when I was on that nutrient deficient diet, not staying very hydrated, not breathing very deeply what happens is your inside's begin to get a little bit flabby. You're not giving the dense mineralization, the polysaccharide medicine. You're not providing any challenges to your organs in a way that actually promoting health, just the challenges that continue to take on the backward slide making that detrimental.  [00:07:57]  Mason: There are best practices, where you can essentially just get your organs a little bit fit up, more alive, healthier, delivering micro nutrients that they crave so they can become better on what they do. And tonic herbs, most of the Eastern traditions the --- approach to creating longevity, the Yogis, etc. that's where the love of these practices were about whether it's deep breathing practices or the tonic herbal practice. The tonic herbal practice is simply finding those herbs that are adaptogenic and when they’re going to be adaptogenic , the herbs can be included in your diet before you get sick . [00:08:43]  Mason: A lot of people know like the biggest adaptogen at the moment is Maca which is a beautiful food and I do like it, and you can go do adapt a little with medicinal mushrooms say Reishi which is a tonic herb that is known especially for toning the heart. I'm into developing habits and practices, rituals in life that is dedicate energy to our vital organs, tone them, keep them healthy keep them fit because that's our storehouse for vibrancy and longevity so that's what I meant. [00:10:37]  Harriet: From the people who have been toning up and showing up in your life, what are you feeling or what are you sensing that most people are lacking right now when it comes to their nutrients in their body that you are replacing? [00:11:37]  Mason: I feel at the moment what's lacking I'll go something more philosophical, is people's willingness to realize that creating health or vibrancy and longevity, body that they feel safe and secure so that the excitement can actually emerge. Realizing that health is like a fire, fire that you would be building and working on for the rest of your life.  [00:14:02]  Harriet: I would to mention how simply profound that statement really was, mainly because we do need make relevant decisions. For so many years we thrown out the concept that we need to be use our own intuition, and as human beings we actually natural intuitist but we need to tune in and kind of listen. [00:14:45]  Mason: That something people lack, is immune system. Immunity is so multidimensional conversation in terms of how we build our immune system, how we create an immune system that's really complex. That's really important to have sophistication in immune system, that's one thing I've always admire about the tonic herbs specifically the medicinal mushrooms. For developing immune system like to start practicing --- and cold plunging and exposing your body to the elements so that you'll become more adaptable, more able to cope with swings, with temperature, and environment. Those are two things that I'd say, the other one is eating clay.  [00:17:04]  Mason: It's been around for quite some time, I've been back reading the books like Wild Health. It's about all animals eat clay, especially birds they eat a lot of clay because they're eating a lot of toxins coming in to the berries and fruits that they're eating, and elephants and all indigenous cultures as well especially here in Australia because they knew that the clay is negatively charged and it would bind all the toxicity they got from their diet, same also with zeolite and charcoal. [00:18:19]  Harriet: Is there any specific clay that you recommend?  [00:18:23]  Mason: I've been focusing on charcoal and just doing a little bit of bentonite clay because that's what I have at the moment but I want to get a wide variety of clays. Grab some green clay, some white clays, nothing in particular, always go in variety. [00:19:01]  Harriet: I love for you to share with us a little bit about you're story, a little bit of your upbringing.  [00:19:26]  Mason: I have really supportive parents, my parents are really awesome. I was never destined to just be pressured to living like school, Uni, magnified job and so they really encouraged me to travel, keep my mind really open. During University, that I started to get little frustrated about the way boarders ran the house, I’m doing an International business degree. I left Uni it was just everything that I can't handle in the world right now. When I got back from overseas I just jumped in to the health realm. I remember having thoughts as a kid, hearing statistics on cancer and diabetes. And really freaking out about my family members getting it. [00:21:10]  Mason:  One in two chance if you're a man of experiencing cancer at a young age, it really scared the s*** out of me. I just got over it, and I started looking around about how many people around me would be degenerating, how many people were unnecessarily having stroke. I just really wanted to contribute to the humans that were really trying to do something about, bringing about a greater sense of safety in people's body.  [00:25:51]  Harriet: You mentioned that you had a something happened in your arm that allowed your health to degenerate slightly, was that been a hard or challenging health aspect in your life that you've experienced until now? [00:26:07]  Mason: Not really. I think it was because I wasn't focused, I had systemic fungus. I remembered that coming out on my arms in High school and then it came up big time when I was living in Austria when you're living in a cold environment like that you're not getting much sun on your skin, you're covered up a lot of the time and so that's you're creating a hot sweaty environment on the skin, that's a perfect fungal breeding ground. I was suppressing my immune system with the junk food that I was eating. [00:29:06]  Mason: So I'm home and started doing a lot of green juicing, i started going up to the Blue Mountains and collecting my own spring water, because I just believe from the top layer of the Earth is detoxic for me, I deeply nourished my body. I went to some colon cleansing strategies within the space of three months, all my fungus just disappeared, and the whites of my eyes came back. I was just following my passion, it was exciting. I overcame it so quickly, I haven't personally had any real big health issues that I've had to overcome. I am passionate about helping people go through that process themselves. I really don't want watching people suffer. If I can in that area, I really like to support as many people to open their detox channels, nourish themselves with the basic elements, learn basic anatomy and physiology, such that they can be at the source of intentionally crafting a diet supplement regime, herbal philosophy. [00:32:42]  Harriet: I would love for you to share a little bit about your practice, a little bit about what you share with people to support their body to find balance. [00:32:51]  Mason: Sure thing. I've been focusing on my sleep a lot, because it’s just a core part of health and that vibrancy so I'm just ensuring that  I don't have any Wi-Fi or electrics around my bed or within my bedroom, just ensuring that I can get as good night sleep as possible. When I wake up in the morning, I get up and go and scrape my tongue to make sure any of that bad bacteria that's made it's way out there comes up before I drink water, and I drink that with a little bit of MSM in it (Methylsulfonylmethane). It's a very important supplement over the years in ensuring that my joints stay nice and juicy, and my liver stays clean.  [00:34:09]  Mason: I particularly focus on getting my hips open and stretch my spine and my shoulders and then have a bit of crawl around the ground and move my body in a way that's nice and functional. I'll have a hot Elixir, I'll put their some hot tea or hot water put some medicinal mushrooms tonic herbs, with maybe some turmeric, maybe some cacao mix that with colostrum, a bit of honey and blend that up. I am a big fan of collecting spring water that's been an integral part of what I do. The other thing I'm focusing is my skin, getting my skin nice and clean. I highly recommend clear lights sauna no EMF, infrared is the way to go to help your body to mobilize toxicity.  [00:36:13]  Mason: I've kind of always have a focus on keeping my skin as vibrant as possible, so I'll make a little mix as skin scrub for the shower, I either use Bicarb and vodka or bicarb and apple cider vinegar I just make into a paste, I turn the cold water on after my sauna I'll get nice and cold in there. And then I'll turn the shower off, scrub myself down to the cloth with that skin scrub .Then get out, oil my body up with some coconut oil and If i get the opportunity, get out start naked in the sun. And it's another very important why I make sure that getting sun exposure and sun bathing is part of your life especially if you're dealing with illness, you want to be focusing on this it's so healing. And especially getting those areas that we always cover up, we know that cancers always will spring out on those places where the sun never gets access to. [00:37:42]  Mason: In terms of nutrition, wild green fruit is always brilliant. I'm loving the salads, little bit of veggies getting some local eggs on there. I'm a big fan of berries, high pigment foods and wild food if can get it, go to your farmer's market or just go to someone who is local who has a garden, if you can get a little bit closer to the source. Organic is good, can you talk to the person who's growing that organic food. [00:40:01]  Harriet: I'd love to turn the question over to you, what is real health to you, and why does it matter so much? [00:42:05]  Mason: If you can find all those multidimensional parts of you, that is a health freak, that part of you that is romantic, that wants to connect with other humans and connect with your planet and connect with your family, wants to ensure that your community is tendered, and also that part of you that wants to celebrate, and real health is constantly practicing it. And constantly expressing it. [00:43:15]  Harriet: What makes you come alive, what is your dance, what is your song? And how do you fully express that in yourself? Because it's such an important question and it really does, it really does bring you back to your ancestral root, it brings you back to who you are, and allows you to incorporate all the parts of you, the good , the bad, the ugly, everything. [00:44:18]  Mason: Just finding that sweet spot where they can all weave in together and really live together.  [00:46:08]  Harriet: What is one healthy living golden nugget you believe everyone should live by? [00:46:32]  Mason: The most relevant one for me at the moment is to really ensure, that apart from the culture you're creating for yourself embodies the organic presents of people, of situations or things that just have you laughing your head off every day. [00:48:44]  Harriet: What is your favorite movie right now? [00:48:53]  Mason: Hulk. [00:48:56]  Harriet: What is your favorite smell? [00:49:02]  Mason: At the moment Sage. [00:49:05]  Harriet: And your favorite food at this moment? [00:49:06]  Mason: Capers [00:49:09]  Harriet: Who is your hero currently? [00:49:18]  Mason: I don't have any current heroes, I got a baby on the way and I think that little thing in there is pretty heroic to me and same as my partner. [00:49:40]  Harriet: What is your favorite book? [00:49:47]  Mason: One of my favorite is The Secret Teachings of Plants by Stephen Harrod Buhner. [00:49:56]  Harriet: Is there any copies of equipment or portraying or another tool that you're really enjoying right now? [00:50:11]  Mason: I just a got a new Sauna, I got a new four pairs. [00:50:43]  Harriet: Have you got any personal habits or any cookie things that you do in your morning routine? Is there anything that you feel strongly contributes to your success on health? [00:51:08]  Mason: I just crawl around the house. [00:51:39]  Harriet: Who are three people who you recommend and get us in touch with that you'd love to see on a podcast just like this? [00:51:49]  Mason: I'll recommend , Benny Ferguson( The Movement Monk), Col Clayton, and as well as my cosmic George Kavassalis from I am Infinite [00:52:49]  Harriet: You have brought so much value to this, I don't know If I should tell you how many notes I've taken but there's quite a few. Philippa Ross/ The Game of Life; Discovering The Essence Of Who You Are

Hello and welcome to the Naked Health Warriors Podcast. Today, we have Philippa, and I am so excited to introduce [her] for a few reasons. Number one; she’s brought a new term to my person, and that is the word “enthusiologist.” She helps people discover optimum levels of enthusiasm on the planet, and if you are the kind of person who wants more enthusiasm for life, this is going to be for you. She's been really supporting people and engaging with them, [those] who feel lost. She's got a great program coming, which is kind of cool, and it’s touching on something that a lot of people are becoming more and more aware of today, and that is Flourishing Future’s Program, which touches on people’s spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspects of themselves. Welcome to the show, Philippa!    [00:01:16]  Philippa: Thank you very much for having me!  Harriet: Amazing. I would love for you to give a little bit of a brief info on yourself, your business and a little bit about what you’re up to right now. Philippa: My name is Philippa Ross, and as they say, I do call myself an enthusiologist, because I’m a non-conformist and it was just really bad trying to find a title that said something about who I am, and how I show off in the world. I’m based in New Zealand and I’m 55 years old, so I’ve got a wealth of personal and professional wisdom behind me to actually help people. Philippa: One of my projects at the moment, I’ve been working on my book for about six years, so it’s past its gestation period. I really need to give birth to that [laughs] and it’s called "Life’s a Load of Balls: How to Master the Game of Life.” Philippa: I have put a program within that, but it’s actually one way to expand my business. [00:02:23]  Harriet: Amazing, that sounds pretty cool! So you've got your book coming up; "Life’s a Load of Balls” – I love the title! It's super intriguing, and I’m sure there's going to be some women who would love to read that. Harriet: I would love for you to discuss and let us know a little bit about what’s exciting for you in your business right now. [00:02:43]  Philippa: The exciting thing is actually expanding, connecting with so many people. It’s really encouraging to know that so many people are working holistically nowadays. You know, yourselff within the health field, and it’s the food side of things. For me, it's bringing the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical aspects all together because it’s really, really important that we have all aspects of that. Philippa: So you can be well on one level, but the other levels are actually completely down. For me, the big part is educating people on what it means to feel whole and fulfilled. Philippa: From my school days, I know how hard it is to relate to a lot of stuff and put it into layman’s terms, so that’s the purpose behind my book. Harriet: Nice! [00:03:45]  Harriet: So you talk about the levels of spiritual, emotional, physical and mental aspects of self. I'd love for you to share – I mean, spirituality hasn’t been around that long. In fact, it has been very frowned upon 30 to 40 years ago. So, how did you come across to these different levels? And how do you know when they’re high or low? Philippa: Spirituality – and I can say from experience – a lot of people align it with religion; and it’s got absolutely bug-all to do with religion. It’s really about discovering the essence of who you are. And understanding what your own needs are. There are a lot of rules and regulations in life as we go on, we take them all subconsciously; the conditions and things, all the things we say we shouldn’t do. Really, the whole part of the program is to help people get in touch with that. Philippa: And so emotionally, emotions are actually energy in motion. Philippa: The mind, body, soul – it’s all interconnected. It’s really about connecting to yourself and listening to your body. So, from your own personal health aspect, when you take – when you eat certain foods, it’s actually; how do you respond to that food? Philippa: A lot of information we get is from our five senses, and so all that we receive – all the data – through our five senses is really creating an awareness around what stimulates/invigorates your own senses the most and what you need aligning with that. [00:05:50]  Philippa: It’s a matter of creating awareness. Did you take time to step outside of it and establish your own rules, basically. Harriet: Wow – awareness for establishing your own rules. That’s definitely one statement that a lot of people are taking way too lightly. [00:06:07]  Harriet: We do create so many rules for ourselves, and the more aware we become that there are no rules, and we can just create our own rules, the more flexible and the more enjoyable our life will truly become.  Philippa: Hence the name of my book, “Life’s a Load of Balls,” – it’s because the love of those rules are balls, and it’s for us to establish whether they actually serve our game or not. And it’s also [that] those balls of balls of energy, and that’s the level of my work. To me, it’s a great title because it says a lot. Harriet: It truly does. [00:06:40]  Harriet: I would love for you to share a little bit of your story and your past, so we can kind of get to know about your upbringing. What’s been influencing you – positive and, obviously, the negative – and feel free to be as open and honest as you like. Every single person has a different journey as to what’s brought them to this moment in time.  Philippa: The big thing for me was failure. That one stuck out. Over the years I’ve come to see it as an amazing thing to look at, to teach lessons. I went to a convent, and so therein lies a lot of rules and pressure and all the rest of it. I was born in England, and so I took my English Language O Levels – I recalled six times, three different boards, successfully managed to fail all of them, and was told I was illiterate. But, fortunately my parents were not concerned with the results of exams – and I think that brings a lot of pressure nowadays – and it was more to do with common sense. Mum said common sense would prevail. [00:07:52]  Philippa: Once I got early 30's, and my son was born, I wanted to find out more about child development to be the best mum that I could be. All the baby books were a bit bland, so I discovered with the Open University a course about child development. So I did that one. It really suited me because it started February, finished October. I’m kind of an all-or-nothing kind of person, so it fitted in with my family – and I had two part-time jobs. Philippa: Then the next year, I got another module, and that gave me an advance to primary child development. And then my son started primary school, and there was a module about education. Philippa: And then I suddenly realized that I was halfway through a degree and – you know, if you’d said to me at the start to do a degree, having failed English Language, I would never have ever contemplated it. Philippa: But because I was learning something that was dear to my heart – and that’s the whole point of me, the essence of life is aligning yourself with something that really lights up your heart. So I carried on. Philippa: And after 6 years, I acquired an honest degree in Psychology, and there was no one more pleased than myself. Philippa: Fast forward; I’ve miscarried, I’ve had a house repossess, I had a violent husband, I’ve had two divorces. There’ve been various things throughout life. We all had different things that happen to us for a reason, but it’s actually seeing the blessing in – what was at the time – painful, and how it actually served us and gives us the lessons in life. [00:10:20]  Harriet: That’s brilliant! So, you’ve shared a little bit about the journey for you. I’d love for you to tell a story about a place in your life where you’ve said; enough is enough, and you decided on a different path in your life, and what some of the steps were that the listeners can maybe align with too. Philippa: We’ve been in New Zealand for about three years, and my “enough is enough” was – my children were teenagers, and I didn’t really know at that time, because I failed through menopause, but I think I was a bit really tetchy [laughs]. So, with hormonal teenagers and me going through menopause, and my husband at the time was a real authoritarian, due to his background, and so on and so forth. I could feel myself really drained, and it really wasn’t aligned. Philippa: It was really hard, but it probably took me a year to build up the courage to actually leave the marriage. The guilt that I carried with me for breaking that up… Philippa: But for me, the lesson was about doing what was important to myself. It’s so hard; we do compromise so much for ourselves, because of society’s conditions; I should stay in this marriage, I should support my husband. [00:12:03] Philippa: I was better off on my own. So, yeah. It took a year to basically really change things around. And that’s what made the difference for me. I really came into my own after that. And that was about nine years ago. Harriet: Wow. Harriet: So how did you move yourself from a place of getting the blame and receiving the blame and feeling like you were to blame, to where you are today? Philippa: It’s a process, because I’m with teenage children as well, and with a mother-daughter relationship. My daughter, at the time – she wasn’t backwards in coming forward and telling me what a b**** I was, and all the rest of it. It’s a matter of sitting with yourself, and for me – and this is where the book came out – it was cathartic for me. Philippa: Like all of us, we do our work to help ourselves— Harriet: Absolutely. Philippa: -- and then we realize how much we can help other people through it. It was a journey of self-discovery, and connecting those dots. And seeing how I could serve humanity and the planet. Philippa: It’s really about balancing it and honoring the diversity of life and not doing what society expects of us. Philippa: Because we change over time, and that’s the important thing; to really keep reassessing things and doing what energizes you. [00:13:42]  Harriet: I love it. That’s such a super important message for a lot of women, because we find ourselves being slaves to everyone else’s need. Especially if – if you do have a husband, and you do have kids, and you do have a job, life is like this balancing act. Harriet: How did you truly get your life into balance after that? Because, obviously there were kids that got annoyed, there’s houses that needs to split up. What was your experience of balancing everything back into order?  Philippa: I think the important thing is to be honest. As a parent, this is one of the reasons I want my program to go into schools – it’s for teachers and parents, because we’re the biggest influence on children. Philippa: It’s about being open and honest about how you feel and taking ownership of your own feelings. In the moment, children and teenagers – we react because we’re stressed out. We feel we’ve got to do X, Y, and Z. Really, it’s about taking three deep breaths and thinking; okay, I’ve actually got my knickers in a knot here. It’s got nothing to do with the child.  Philippa: You’re out shopping with a small child, and you’re stressed out. They’re tired and so they’re crying. It’s actually about just taking that time to love and nurture the child. Forget all the people around you who are looking at you because your child’s screaming. Philippa : Loving yourself and honoring that moment that you’re actually in. That’s the really, really important thing.  [00:15:43]  Harriet: I’d love for you to expand on something that caught my eye, and that was – or, my ears – Philippa: [laughs] Harriet: -- and that was; so you love creating honesty and opening up the waves of conversation. How do you go from a place where two people are not – they want to play to opening the waves? How does that look for a lot of people?  Philippa: It’s really about creating the space and not feeling pressure to resolve something in that moment. Philippa: When you’re highly emotional, then you’re not in the right place to resolve something, and it’s actually saying; I’m feeling really stressful. I can’t think straight the moment. I hear what you’re saying. Philippa: Feedback to the other person what you’re hearing and saying; can we just leave this? And come back to it? Philippa: Because we always feel pressure to deal with it there and then.  Harriet: Nice. Harriet: So asking; “Can we come back to it?” [00:16:50]  Philippa: “I need space to sort this out. I’m not able to resolve this in the moment because I’m too emotionally involved in it.” – it’s stepping away and giving yourself – it’s time and space. It’s a huge thing.  Harriet: Nice. [00:17:04] Harriet: Just to reiterate to the listeners; I need space. I’m not able to resolve this right now –whether is emotional, physical, mental, whatever. And then give the feedback; can we come back to it? Harriet: And if they say yes, then come back to it. If they say no, then they clearly don’t have the patience you have that exact moment, and it needs to be reiterated. Philippa: And it’s about honoring yourself in the moment you need it. You’re saying that that’s what you need. Again, it’s about building that respectful relationship. Harriet: Nice. That’s pretty cool! That’s pretty exciting. Harriet: I know a lot of women who find themselves in that situation, and that’s such a – that’s such a gem! [00:17:42]  Harriet: What would you say is one of the things that listeners should do right now to make a movement today towards being that – how would you put it? That spiritual, emotional, mental and physical aspect of themselves. How can they move there now? What can they do?  Philippa: I think its breathing. Philippa: It’s one of the big things. It’s giving itself that space. We breathe subconsciously, but it’s conscious breathing. Just as us girls might do our pelvic floor exercises and nobody’s any the wiser, it’s really about taking three deep breaths. [00:18:45] Philippa: If you practice throughout the day consciously breathing, you’re really slowing the rhythm of the body down and giving yourself time to – connecting to that moment and disconnect from whatever’s making you frazzled. That’s one of the big things. [00:19:05]  Philippa: The other thing is smiling. Philippa: Even if you feel like s***, it’s actually – put a smile on your face and if you hold it, just keep smiling. It’s amazing that it actually transforms the endorphins in the body and you actually end up genuinely smiling. It makes you smile inside and [it] has a huge, powerful effect. Philippa: Find something funny to watch or something. Laughter’s the best medicine. It’s a real way for shifting your energy.  Harriet: Awesome! Wow. [00:19:37]  Harriet: So there’s three really cool things that Philippa mentioned just then. The first one is conscious breathing. The really amazing thing I found out about it – I learned something myself today – is that it kind of turns your adrenals off.  They can’t operate. Which is cool! So you’ve got to go in-freight and then out-freight. Harriet: Secondly, smiling. Harriet: Thirdly, laughter. And holding both of those until it feels authentic. Philippa: Yes! Harriet: Nice. I love it! [00:20:06]  Harriet: Philippa if you could go back in time – twenty, thirty, forty, however many years – and tell your old self one thing, what would that be? Philippa: It would be; "Be true to yourself. The fact that you have a life is purpose enough, and you don’t need to prove yourself to anybody.” [00:20:35]  Harriet: The Naked Health Warriors talks a lot about real health, real happiness, real wealth. What do you feel real health means to you? It’s different for every single person. Philippa: Real health to me is a true expression of yourself being authentic. Philippa: Otherwise you’re compromising yourself. You’re wearing a mask to `try and fit in and you were born to stand out.  [00:21:21]  Harriet: What’s most important to you about your personal health? What matters to you about your personal health?  Philippa: Appreciation. Philippa: Honoring the diversity of life; that's huge to me. People and the planet. You just look around you, and there’s just some amazing – we judge people/books by their covers, and even the homeless person on the street? They have an amazing story to tell. Everybody’s got special nuggets. Philippa: Compassion, I think, it’s a huge, huge thing. Harriet: Nice. [00:21:54]  Harriet: And how do you practice appreciation? How do you get into a state of true appreciation? Philippa: I do what’s called my AA Rescue Remedy, which is appreciation and acknowledgement. A part of it’s the journey to get to know yourself, but it’s actually acknowledging the traits that you like about yourself. And that is huge.  Philippa: For me – I have an enthusiastic character. I’m optimistic and bubbly. I have a great sense of humor. But I also have an insatiable appetite for learning – which is quite ironic, having failed school— Harriet: [laughs] Philippa: It’s just really acknowledging – the small things in life. [00:23:17] Philippa: Acknowledgment of yourself and appreciating what is around you. Philippa: And as far as meditation is concerned; a lot of people think you have to kind of be zen and think nothing. It’s not. It’s really about putting yourself in a state of being. It’s to do with the energy, and that’s our state of being. [00:24:01] Harriet: Nice. Harriet: That’s pretty cool. I was going to add, but you expanded on it. I was going to say, one of the things I love to do every morning is I put on my child-like appreciation for the world. I am like a three-year-old. I look at everything around me, and I’m like; “Hello, light! Hello, sofa! Good morning, puppy!” Harriet: I just get grateful for every single thing that my eyes can see. [00:24:44] Philippa: It’s awesome you said that, because for me, play is one of my big things. I’m a big child myself. It’s recapturing the child-like spirit. That’s the big thing. Harriet: Nice. Capturing your child-like spirit. [00:24:53]  Harriet: Speaking of your spirit, what is one Healthy Living Golden Nugget that you believe that everyone should live by?  Philippa: Smiling.  Harriet: And how often you would prescribed said smiling?  Philippa: Every morning and every night. Whenever you can! Challenge yourself; while you’re walking down the street, just look at people in the eye and smile at them. It is contagious. Harriet: Nice. And I like that you said looking people in the eye when you smile. Because you can smile at the world. They say “smile at the world, and the world will smile at you,” but I feel like, if you actually smile at someone and you have an exchange of energy, you can really take the energy throughout your day. Philippa: Absolutely. Makes a world of difference. [00:25:44] Harriet: Let’s head into the QuickFire Questions Round, and we will wrap up. Are you ready? Philippa: Ready! [00:26:00]  Harriet: What is the best advice for your industry you’ve ever received?  Philippa: Be patient with your impatience.  [00:26:08]  Harriet: Can you share one of your personal habits that your strongly believe contributes to your successful health? Philippa: My optimism and enthusiasm.  [00:26:19]  Harriet: What is one technological piece of equipment, app, book, training or some kind of tool that your body and mind and spirit cannot live without?  Philippa: My laptop, which has died, so thanks goodness for my iPad.  [00:26:33]  Harriet: And who's your hero? Philippa: My children.  [00:26:41]  Harriet: What is your favorite smell?  Philippa: Roses [00:26:45]  Harriet: What is your favorite movie? Philippa: The Last Station. [00:26:54]  Harriet: And what is the book that you are currently reading?  Philippa: The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet. [00:27:02]  Harriet: What is the health industry missing? What does the world need most right now? Philippa: Education to help children value what's in themselves. I think it will have an exponential effect on physical health and will reduce disease and have a huge effect on justice, the social system and so much more.  [00:27:26] Harriet: And lastly; who are three people who you know personally who you could recommend that we have to have on this podcast?  Philippa: My friend and colleague Kim Knight. She calls herself the Kiwi Detective. Katherine Newton. She is a women’s business coach. And the third one would be – I have to leave it at those two, because there's so many to choose from. I just feel sad if I leave somebody out. Sorry! Harriet: That sounds good.  [00:28:07]  Harriet: There's going to be some of people who are interested to know about your book [and] a little bit about what you’re up to right now. How can they find more about you, and a little about what you do and what you have to offer to the world? Philippa: My website: www.philippaross.com and that’s Philippa which is p-h-i-l-i-p-p-a, Ross r-o-s-s. And I’m also on Facebook as: Philippa Ross Enthusiologist.  [00:28:37]  Harriet: And I would love you to share any parting last comments with the listeners or anything that you would love for them to have in their day. Philippa: Just honor yourself. Your life is a really precious gift. Wherever you are, know that you are not alone. Reach out, find somebody to talk to. Don’t struggle. Instead of being stuck in the moment, know that it will change, and look at all the amazing things that you have achieved. And create your own yardstick for what life means to you, as supposed to doing what everybody else thinks that you should be doing.  Harriet: What a brilliant message! [00:29:21]  Harriet: Thank you so much for being in the show. Thank you for expanding on what it means to you, to be an Enthusiologist, and thanks for sharing so much about your history and what you’re up to right now. Super exciting!

Natalie Vail/ Body-Mind Connection Towards Ultimate Wellness

Show notes Podcast Recording [Natalie Vail][Harriet Worth]   Hello and welcome to today’s episode of The Naked Health Warriors Podcast. Today, I have Rev. Dr. Natalie Vail and I am super excited to intro her, mainly because she's Rev. Dr. Natalie Vail, and that’s just super cool itself. She is a cutting-edge holistic practitioner. And what's really cool about her; she's also the owner of the private practice down here in San Diego called Soulistic Total Health, which specializes in acupuncture, intuitive readings and energy healings. I feel that there's nothing this woman cannot do, so I’m super excited to introduce you Natalie to our show.    [00:01:07]    Natalie: Perfect, thank you so much Harriet. It is an honor to be a part of your show and I am really excited to be here today as well.    Harriet: Amazing! I would love for you to give maybe a brief introduction of you and your business, and what's really exciting for you about what you're doing right now.     [00:01:27]    Natalie: Great! So as you mentioned, I’m a doctor of Eastern medicine and an ordained Spiritualist minister. So, what I’m really great at is combining more of the body-mind connection with the spiritual side as well. I really got so involved in this body-mind connection from an early age, and was always wondering how I was going to combine this.   Natalie: It was through a series of lots of events and lots of trainings and doing things all over the world that have led me to create my own modality of healing, where I synchronize my natural abilities into this kind of cohesive whole.   Natalie: Right now, I’m offering multifaceted treatment and I’m helping people go deep and really work towards their ultimate wellness. Through these treatments, people are getting a lot of relief from symptoms more at the core level, because they’re feeling more empowered and they’re feeling that they’re more connected to their own intuition, and therefore can move into more self-mastery and reach their highest self!   [00:02:36]    Harriet: Wow! That is so very cool!   Harriet: So, you say you've been very intuitive from a young age. I'd love for you to share a little about your upbringing and what's been influencing you – positive and negative – to do this great, brilliant work that you're doing right now?    Natalie: I was seeing a lot of, what we would call, ghosts from a very early age. I was really fortunate that I was able to have parents that were dialed in and they had already kind of gone through their awakening and were in the New Age – this was back in the 80's. They were able to recognize these talents in me and really encouraged them, and helped me to develop [them].   Natalie: I started training with my mother who was a registered nurse and a therapeutic touch practitioner doing energy healing at the time of eight years old. I was working with auras and doing chakra balancing and learning different techniques at a young age.   [00:03:58]    Natalie: When I got into college, I kind of fell a little bit away from that, because I think everybody wants to be – nobody wants to be weird, I kind of felt. It took me some time to kind of refine myself as an adult. I always knew I wanted to be a healer. I always knew I wanted to help people.   Natalie: After my undergrad I did some time in retail management, which really woke me up because there’s nothing like retail management to just put you in a dark place. So, I really had to find my true calling again, which is where I really did some self-discovery and found acupuncture.    Natalie: When I first found acupuncture, I thought I was totally crazy. I didn’t understand why people would want to put needles in other people. But I’m so glad that I chanced upon it. It really helped me learn more about myself, because – as they say; healer, heal thyself.   [00:05:22]    Harriet: Wow! That is so very cool. An intuitive from the age of eight. Healing energy from eight. So you’ve had a lot of experience healing energy, it would seem.   Natalie: Yes. And also working with the other side, and spirits, and clearing houses – different things like that, exactly.    [00:05:42]    Harriet: That’s amazing!   Harriet: You mentioned a little bit about how you stepped into retail management and that was a bit of a dark place. Do you have a story that you'd like to share in your journey of life so far where you kind of said –not enough is enough, but; “how am I going to get out of this pickle?” and took a new path on your life. What were some of the initial steps that you took in order of you to move yourself out of that?    [00:06:07]    Natalie: When I had graduated from my undergrad – like I said, I started in retail management. From that time, I just got sicker and sicker, physically. I started developing a bunch of digestive problems – which is really common when you’re under stress, right? I developed IBS and had really bad acid reflux, and I didn't have control over my digestion whatsoever. I was in pain, every single day, constantly.   Natalie: And I went to my Western doctor, and they weren’t able to help me. And nothing that bio medicine did, did anything for me.    [00:06:47]    Natalie: My mom suggested that I try colon therapy, so I went and did some hydro colon therapy and through that I learned about the body's ability to detox, and about different foods that are really bad for us to eat.    Natalie: And so, I sort of just dove in. I was so hungry for this knowledge because I wanted to feel better! So I got the book from Paul Pitchard, Healing with Whole Food, and started learning more about nutrition. I did my own detox – and this is back when gluten- , dairy-, [and] sugar-free was not a thing! Like, there was literally no gluten-free food.   [00:07:37]    Natalie: So, from there, I’m kind of just starting with nutrition and starting with eating right and helping my body out. I realized there’s so much more to this. That’s actually when I tried acupuncture and herbal medicine, and I got so much relief from that.    [00:07:57]   Natalie: You know, acupuncture gives you what you need, but not necessarily what you think you want, because it moves chi. And if there’s dark chi in your life – if you’re doing things that are out of integrity for you, your body’s going to tell you.   Natalie: Sometimes, it takes a while for our mind to catch up. I could tell my body was feeling better, but there was something that was still blocking me. I finally realized; “wait a minute; my job is causing all my problems! This is not who I am. I’m living out of integrity. This is not my full purpose.”   Natalie: “I’m living a life that I thought I was supposed to have, but not the life that I was truly meant to live.”   [00:09:06]    Harriet: So you basically got rid of everything that could have been making you toxic and just started afresh and used natural whole foods and began to heal yourself.    Natalie: Exactly.   Natalie: And I really feel that there’s so much to it. There’s so much to starting with – starting with a diet, I really feel is the most important thing. I know you said yourself that you follow a pretty healthy lifestyle and clean eating. Some people don’t even know about that!   [00:09:36]    Harriet: Absolutely. I really feel like food is totally fundamental.   Harriet: There’s a of people thought that, I’m sure you'll agree, they've got so much toxicity when it comes to their job, when it comes to their marriage, when it comes to them being off their purpose, they feel that food won't make much of the difference.   Harriet: When you took the plunge and just went totally into whole foods and started healing yourself, how quickly did you notice the difference?    [00:10:05]    Natalie: It was immediately, actually. So, what I noticed was that I was less bloated. I was having chronic bloat every single day, so I was less bloated. I had more energy and I actually lost weight as well. That all happened within six weeks. I noticed a visible change and also felt different.   Harriet: Nice.   [00:10:29]    Harriet: And there’s a lot of people that feel that if they make those food changes, they're going to be feeling great. And they don't know what’s next. Do they then quit their job? Do they then find something they’re passionate about?   [00:10:44]   Harriet: What was next for you after you figured out this food game?   Natalie: So, what was next for me after the food was then; what can I do to optimize myself? For me, it’s all about soul purpose. I’m a Capricorn, so I’m very career-driven.   Natalie: I always felt like I needed to be achieving and going forward and do something big with my life. And working! Work was so important to me, and I knew that the work I was doing wasn't the right work.   Natalie: So the next step for me was more in soul propose and finding my passion.    [00:11:43]   Natalie: I really believe that having more than one thing – being multifaceted – and using it when it’s appropriate is the best way to be happy, really.   [00:11:54]    Harriet: Absolutely! One of the things that I find with a lot of people – especially people who are in a rut when they’re feeling toxic – is they don't know what they’re passionate about. They’re not even where you are. They’d feel – they’re probably jealous that you have such multifaceted life.   Harriet: And the advice I give to people is; if you don't know what you're passionate about, start putting entrust in everything. Be interested in gardening. Be interested in interior design. Be interested with people, and then just slowly work your way up. And then whichever one makes you sparkle, makes you come alive, that’s the soul sparkle. That’s the juice of your life.    Natalie: I completely agree with that.   [00:12:31]   Natalie: I also recommend for people to go back to what they were when they were a child, because that was the key that unlocked and set it free for me. When looked back on who I was when I was a child, I was very involved in energy work. I really loved to help people, and it made me happy to talk about spirit guides and animals and crystals.    Natalie: I really feel that – when we’re children, we’re so uninhibited and there’s less pressure from the external world, so we’re able to kind of just be more of ourselves.   Natalie: Through trying to be how everybody else wants us to be or who we think we’re supposed to be, that really strips us down and we become the lesser version of ourselves.   [00:13:17]   Natalie: Whereas that childlike self is so innocent, so free, and more open to our truth.   [00:13:26]    Harriet:  Speaking of spirit guides and crystals, I’m sure you have so much advice that it would be crazy to say; “What is the best bit of advice you've ever had?”, but I know that you work a lot with people. What would you suggest – for a specific type of person that you love to work with, is there a small system you take them through or is there a quick start that you like to suggest to them in order for them to move towards their ideal health and wellness?   [00:13:59]    Natalie: The very first step that I see for people is self-love. I really feel like that’s the key. That’s number one. Self-respect, self-love. That really has a lot to do with our confidence and our self-esteem. So, the very first thing I’ll do with people is identify where they’re not loving themselves. Where they’re beating themselves up.   [00:14:23]    Natalie: As far as who I treat, pretty much anybody or anything that walks through the door, as long as they’re conscious and open-minded.   Natalie: I really have a lot of women in my practice, because I think that women, in some ways, are a little – and this is not to be a blanket statement, because I love men. I think men are so powerful and amazing.   Natalie: But, for the most part, women feel more free to express their emotions or less judged with their emotions.   [00:15:00]   Natalie: As far as age ranges go, I have treated anything from newborn babies up to people who are a hundred and three years old. I feel like anybody can benefit from some guidance, some clarity, some deeper understanding. Looking into their birth charts and understanding; “Who do I choose to be in this lifetime? What’s my sacred contract? What’s my archetype?”   [00:15:37]    Harriet: Wow! Just a few things there – I love it.   Harriet: My favorite thing that you talked about was self-respect, self-esteem, and self-love. And it was a question that you specifically asked. And that question is; “where are you not loving yourself?”     [00:16:05]   Harriet: Listeners, I would love for this question to land on you right now; where are you not loving yourself right now, in this moment? How can you improve your self-love? How can your self-respect and your self-esteem?   [00:16:26]    Natalie: I said that because I feel like, even if we think we’re the Buddha or so conscious and so aware, there’s parts of ourselves where we’re giving our power away. And maybe that’s because we feel like – we don't even recognize! Maybe it's a subconscious thing or an unconscious thing.   [00:16:52]   Natalie: There’s always room for self-growth. There’s always room for improvement. We can always get better. And that’s the whole purpose of being here anyway, right? If I pick who you are, what you have, and what you created, and make the best of it – because you can't be anybody other than yourself, right?    Harriet: Absolutely. If you can make the best of whatever it is you have, then you're guaranteed to be living a fantastic life.    Natalie: Exactly.    [00:17:21]    Harriet: Alright, let’s get into our little wrap-up round. Nat, if you could travel back in time, maybe twenty, ten – however many you need – years ago, and tell your old self one thing, what would that be for you?    Natalie: I would say to not worry so much.   Natalie: My mother would always tell me; angels can fly because they take themselves lightly. I was – and still am, to this day – a very serious person. I’ve allowed worry and anxieties to consume me, and fear to rule my life. I think we all have.   [00:18:13]    Harriet: I think that’s important for a lot of us; not worrying so much. Because worry just take us away from the gift that we’re being given, which is the very day we wake up and look around and say; "Hello, Monday! How are you?"    Natalie: Exactly! Yes.   [00:18:33]    Harriet: Our Podcast is called The Naked Health Warriors. I love to talk about real health. And real health to me is different to what it is for you, for every other single person.   Harriet: Real health, in my opinion, is stripping back naked all of the old beliefs that you have, all of the old eating patterns, eating habits, and getting back to what simply works, what is natural, and what is easy for you. But what does real health mean to you, and why is it so important?   [00:19:04]    Natalie: Real health to me – it means really living optimized.   Natalie: I really don't believe that there’s one right way for everyone. I mean, that’s part of being a holistic practitioner. And also a Chinese practitioner as well! We say that everybody has their own constitution or their own dosha, or whatever you want to call it.   Natalie: So, you know, there isn’t really a one-size-fits-all. I would definitely say that really finding what works for you and feeling good every day – if you can wake up every single day, feel inspired, energized and alive then you are in perfect health. That’s all that matters.    Natalie: And, even if your body’s not working? If your mind’s in a good place, or your soul’s in a good place, that’s also perfect health.   [00:20:08]    Harriet: Absolutely, I love it.   Harriet: So find what works for you, what’s important for you.   Natalie: Yeah! Because, obviously, there’s certain things we all need to do. We all need to stay hydrated. I don’t care who you are, you need to be drinking half your body weight in water every day, right? Clearly, we need to be eating. And we need keep having sunlight and fresh air.   [00:20:49]    Harriet: And, speaking of water and everyone needs to eat, what’s one healthy living golden nugget that you believe every single person should live by?    Natalie: Take your vitamins. I really believe in that.   Natalie: Even if you're eating organic, our food is just missing out on so many of the nutrients that we used to have. Our soil’s not the same. I’m not even going to get in to all of that environmental stuff – it’s so controversial.   Natalie: But, really, take your vitamins. A daily multivitamin – as long as it’s good, it’s clean, it’s organic, it’s from whole foods, you're just helping yourself out, basically.    [00:21:28]    Harriet: Nice, I love it. And I believe everyone should be topping themselves up, because you’re right! There’s a lot of things that have happened to our soil, a lot of them not ideal, and we never know what’s been put on our food. So it’s great to invest in yourself.    Natalie: Agreed!   [00:21:47]    Harriet: All right! Let’s head into the quickfire clarity round, and we will wrap up. You've been amazing and you've brought a lot of amazing things to the table, and I’m very grateful for that.   [00:21:58]    Harriet: What is the best advice for your industry that you've ever received?    [00:22:07]    Natalie: I would say, people need more than one treatment. That’s the best thing. We can't expect a miracle to happen in one shot. We always hope for the best, but everybody heals differently.   [00:22:31]    Harriet: Can you share one of your personal habits that you feel strongly contributes to your successful health?   [00:22:38]    Natalie: Meditation. I meditate every single day, whether morning or night. Sometimes it’s not on the same time because – guess what? – life gets in the way, but I make it a priority, every single day, to meditate, which helps me stay grounded. It centers my energy. It keeps me focused. And it helps me open up to the universal love that’s all around us.   [00:22:57]    Harriet: What is your favorite movie, current or past?   [00:23:04]    Natalie: I love romantic comedies. I would say the movie is French Kiss with Meg Ryan. It’s so cute, it's so sweet. It's about someone who goes out of their way to help someone that they love and they fall in love, kind of by circumstance.   [00:23:22]    Harriet: Who is your hero? Public or private.    [00:23:33]    Natalie: I would say that my current hero is Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith. He’s an amazing spiritual teacher out of the L.A. area. He owns and operates the Agape Canter.    [00:23:58]    Harriet: What technological piece of equipment or maybe app, or book or training or tool can your body not live without?   [00:24:09]    Natalie: My cellphone. I have an iPhone 6S and it is – [laughs]   Natalie: I love my husband and I love my cats, but my phone is definitely up there.   Harriet: [laughs] It’s number one, baby, sorry.   Natalie: The iPhone, it’s amazing. Thank you, Steve Jobs.   Harriet: To Steve; we appreciate it mate.   [00:24:39]    Harriet: What is the health industry missing? What do you believe the world needs most in order to have a revolution around the way we do health?   [00:24:48]    Natalie: I would say the revolution of health is also kind of going back to not taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I really feel that there’s a lot of programs out there right now that have everybody do the same thing. They have you detox with the colon plan, and then take these regular supplements, and then there you go; now you’re healthy.   Natalie: I really feel that that just going back to basics is where we need to be. And teaching people how to drink water, how to eat right, just in general, really encouraging daily exercise and meditation – really coming in to a place of wellness, not just for the body but also treating the minds, treating the soul, and the emotions.    [00:25:32]    Harriet: Nice. I love it.   Harriet: Is there a favorite book that you recommend, or some sort of resource that you recommend anyone who wants to improve that health should read.    [00:25:46]    Natalie: Healing With Whole Foods (by Paul Pitchford) is quite an amazing book as far as learning more about nutrition.   [00:28:57]    Harriet: You know what? I feel like there’s some people right now who are going to be interested in following you, and I know that you're doing something special for the month of September. Would you be able to share a little of how the listeners can find you? And what you're going to be sharing?    [00:29:17]    Natalie: This month, September 2016, if you look at it numerologically, September is a month of nine, and 2016 is the year of nine. And nine is actually the end of cycle.   Natalie: So, this month is super powerful. Actually, September 1st, we had the new moon and we have the Solar Eclipse, so this month is super amped up, and it’s really helping us look at what we need to let go of, or who we need to let go of in our lives, so we can really shed, release, find some closure, feel really complete around our path, and get ready for creating this new, beautiful, fresh start and new beginnings that are coming in October.   Natalie: Because of that, I created a little three-minute video that you can watch on how to navigate September. And, because letting go and releasing things can bring up our fears and make us a little bit stuck, I decided that September is a month of motivation!   [00:30:18]   Natalie: So, each day, I create a little quote with a beautiful image from my recent personal journey through Ireland. And those are going out every day on Facebook and Instagram. You can kind of just watch those and check up on them, and just feel inspiration and get motivated and know that you’re not alone.   Natalie: You can find that on Facebook through my Fanpage, https://m.facebook.com/SoulisticTotalHealth or Instagram @navivee99.   Harriet: Amazing.   Harriet: And is there anything else that you’d like to share? Any parting message or any final words of wisdom?   [00:31:12]    Natalie: It's really knowing your truth and really honoring your individuality. Just truly being you and letting all those blocks, all those obstacles, all those challenges, those fears, those doubts, those insecurities that are preventing you from just going out there and being your true, authentic self – now is the time, everyone.   Natalie: I just want everyone to feel super inspired and know that they’re going to be so much happier, so much healthier, and really living in their potential if they can just say; enough is enough. What’s done is done, and I’m ready for all the amazing new things that are coming.     [00:31:50]    Harriet: Thank you so much for being in the show today, Nat – super appreciate you.   Harriet: Listeners, if you want more amazing, crazy, value-packed content just like this? Tune in to the iTunes podcast, subscribe and download the new episodes that are coming your way very soon. I love you so much, keep tuned in and hope to share more very soon, bye for now!

Dr. Angie Welikala/ The Battlefield of the Mind; Knowing Where to Go, What To Do and How to Start

Hello and welcome to today's podcast. Today, I have Dr. Angie Welikala, and I'm very excited to bring her to your ears. I’m excited to bring you this amazingly beautiful woman. She's got a truly brilliant story, and today, she's going to open up and share some about it. She is CEO and founder of Healing Agents – which is basically a holistic approach to the big C word; cancer. She also works on the other C, which is chiropractic. I'm excited to hear a little bit more about that too. Amongst all of that, she's also got a great book; The 21 Day Cleanse and Detox Jumpstart. And then on top of that, even more, she's a two-time cancer survivor – and she's obviously going to be sharing that story too.   [00:01:20]  Harriet: I'm excited to welcome you to the show, Dr. Angie. Dr. Angie: Thank you so much, Harriet. Thank you so much for having me. [00:01:28]  Harriet: I’d love for you to let us know what you’re up to right now. What's really exciting you in your health business? Dr. Angie: The greatest joy for me right now is, we've really launched our new non-profit called Healing Agents International. We have a huge benefit concert coming up in October in L.A. on the 29th. Dr. Angie: This is just a place where – you know, when I was walking through cancer, like; “I'm a doctor, right? I don't care about the crap. Tell me the truth. My life is on the line here. What are the answers? What are the choices, what are the options?” So, I'm so excited to create that place where anyone can come and get the truth and get the real deal, because your life is on the line, so these decisions are huge. Harriet: Amazing! [00:02:26]   Harriet: I’ve heard that you do help a lot of people. Who's the typical person who comes to you and what are they looking for? Dr. Angie: Every week, we get a handful. Ten, fifteen people now, because our reach is getting bigger thanks to people like you, Ms. Harriet. But the basic person is [asking]; "Where do I go? What do I do? How do I start? What are the super foods? What is the nutrition I need to be putting in my body?" Also; "What are those natural treatments you keep talking about, Dr. Angie, and who do I go to? Where do I find this?" Dr. Angie: The most persons getting the direction of drug surgery and chemo – that's pretty much standard, but there's a whole other spectrum that I think patients are missing when they're walking through this. So I'm so blessed to be able to provide that for them. [00:03:25] Harriet: And so the things that you offer, are they a fusion of the modern day, cancer-healing opportunities or are they collaboration of the hospitalization process? What do you offer people? Dr. Angie: Well, I sit down with them – usually over the phone – and we kind of create a road map, because everybody's different. Some people have the full healing circle figured out, where they've got their integrative doctors, they've got their supplements, they’ve got to have surgery. So I just kind of help navigate them through the process in which I've been successful, and then see where the holes are. See where we need to fill in the blanks with different professionals. Dr. Angie: I'm blessed to have met a ton of people across the country that are professional health doctors that all work together, of all different spectrums of this circle. [00:04:18] Harriet: I love to share a little bit about – because, obviously, a lot of people wonder; how on earth did you get in to all this? We're going to get into some of the hard moments for you a little bit later, but I'd love to know about where you came from, your upbringing. What's really influenced you, positive and negative, growing up to bring you to this point today?  Dr. Angie:  I was born in Yorba Linda, California. The cool story there is I was adopted at birth. My birth mom was found in a clinic, and she was pretty much a drug addict and lived on the streets. I was basically a meal ticket for her. My parents paid her so they could have me.  Dr. Angie: And I didn't know this until I was in Chiropractic College, but the person responsible for connecting me to my parents today was my parents' family chiropractor! I got to visit him and it has really been a full circle healing for me, just traveling this road of where I came from, how I started. Dr. Angie: It's a huge miracle that I'm even here – and then I'm still here after this crazy stage 4 cancer journey so … here we go! I keep going!  [00:05:43]  Harriet: You know, I hear a lot of people who have stories around the fact that they were adopted at a young age, and passed around from place to place. They’re abused, and weren’t looked after properly – and foster home, foster home, foster home. Harriet: Now, in their adult life, they blame it on their childhood, and they haven't done anything about it. Were you one of those who had a difficult childhood upbringing, or did you land with some amazing parents? How did that look for you? [00:06:10]  Dr. Angie: Yeah, I had a great parents. I had everything provided for me. I lived a very comfortable lifestyle, although I did fall into some cracks where I did have some childhood abuse that was very hard for my family to hear about. You know, I'm still healing from that today. I still have to really work on; that's the old story, you know, that; that shouldn't have happened to me and I'm okay, just the way I am. Dr. Angie: That feeling of not being wanted. I was a kid I would walk around the mall with my mom and wonder, "Is that my mom? Is that my mom? Is she going to come and get me?" Dr. Angie: That little hole has been filled by God and by my life experiences and all the blessings that I get to see every week with helping people.  [00:07:10] Harriet: I remember you mentioned, when we chatted before, that really believing that "you were enough" has really helped you through that. Harriet: Is there any advice that you could offer to any other woman – or even man – who’s been through that kind of upbringing themselves and is working on that area of their life? [00:07:29]  Dr. Angie: Just keep going. Dr. Angie: It's the battlefield of the mind, right? One of my favorite pastors and mentors and authors is Joyce Meyer, and she has her story where she was abused many [times] and into the teens by her own father. And here she has one of the biggest ministries in the world and – look at what Guy can do. She's a firm believer of; just keep putting that truth in your brain and staying focused on that. Take out those lies that might still be lingering in there from your childhood. Harriet: Nice. So Battlefield of the Mind, by Joyce Meyer, and focus on putting in the truth and taking out the lies that you’ve been telling yourself. [00:08:22]  Harriet:  I know that you've had quite a story and quite an upbringing. I'd love it if you could vulnerable enough to share some of the things – some of your worst points that have allowed you to create the life that you have today. In fact, let's go for the hardest one. Let’s just pick the hardest, most gruelling health challenge of your life, up until now, and let's share how that’s changed and turned you into a person you are today? Dr. Angie: That’s a big question, my friend. Harriet: It is. [00:08:52]  Dr. Angie:  There's a couple of things, but one of the first big defining moments for me – and I think that's what helped me keep digging through stage four later – was my first diagnosis. Dr. Angie: In the beginning, I did the biopsy and I was declared stage 0. But when I was told if I did the double mastectomy, I wouldn't have to do chemo radiation. So I, as a chiropractor, was like; yes! That’s the choice right? [00:09:19] Dr. Angie: I did that, and it was that was all good. But, for me, when I was going through the biopsy – [that] was the defining moment. Because here I was, I was just 35 years old, I had a beautiful practice … serving patients and working crazy.  Dr. Angie: And I'm lying on this table, and it's a very hard table with a circle in it, and my right breast is stuck in a clamp in the middle of this hole of the table. This gentleman is shooting a needle in my breast, into the exact spot where they saw some sort of calcification.   Dr. Angie: In that moment I realized; "What the heck is going on?” Like, “Enough is enough. I draw the line. No more doormat syndrome for me. This is where that’s gotten me, right?”  I am face down with a needle in my boob, and what am I going to do next? [00:10:20] Dr. Angie: So, that's when I had to rise up and put Angie on the list of priority; for my life, for my health. Angie’s number one, and then next is serving other people. That was one of my big “Ah ha!” moments. It was huge. [00:11:03]  Harriet: How did you pick yourself up? I know you said; "no more doormat syndrome!", but did you go into one of those downward spirals for a while, or did you just have to feel that pain, and then get catapulted into where you wanted to be? [00:11:20]  Dr. Angie:  The first time – it took me a long time to put my head around that word: cancer. Dr. Angie: "I have cancer? What? I'm a Chiropractor! I've been adjusted since I was sixteen. I eat healthy. I've exercised my whole life. What?" Dr. Angie: The first round was kind of a shock. This stock lasted for such a long time. I think, when I got through that first one – it took me about a year. I was declared cancer-free, up until three years. And then the second time came, and that was like; "Okay. Let's see what you're really made of.” [00:11:59] Dr. Angie: There are all these big tests of who we are as a character and as a survivor. I've survived some crazy stuff as a child, and it keeps building me stronger, really, to just do bigger, massive things for this country and this world that we live in. Harriet: I love it. Thanks for being so open about it. [00:12:27]  Harriet: When you found yourself in that place, were there some – what I like to call – healthy living lessons that came out of that, that you’d care to pass along to the listeners being in that stage of cancer? Dr. Angie: Sure. [00:12:45]  Dr. Angie: Number one lesson is that food is medicine. Food changed my biochemistry of my body. Very thought-out food combinations and supplements. As a chiropractor, I was like; "Yeah, some supplements are great. No big deal.” But when your life depends on it … Dr. Angie: I've watched even some tumor markers in the last month. My tumor markers went up about twenty, thirty points, and I was like; what. So, I changed a bunch of food stuff and added more exercise, and my numbers went down again, six or seven points. Dr. Angie: So, food is medicine! And I think a lot of people are missing that boat that they can easily do at home. [00:13:35]  Dr. Angie: Number two – love is the answer. Dr. Angie: Love is the answer to so many things; loving yourself, loving the situation. Just having love as a cornerstone for this whole journey helps you get through it.  Dr. Angie: And number three would be that self-care button. Remember we talked about priority; putting your name on the priority list. Self-care is one of those big lessons. Because if I'm not doing self-care, I’m not taking care of myself, then my body’s going to go the other direction. [00:14:13]  Harriet: There's one thing that I really want to highlight, Dr. Angie, and that is number one. Harriet: When you said "My life depends on it." Harriet: I want to massively point out that I don't want everyone to be waiting until they have cancer to decide; "oh dear.” Dr. Angie: Right! Harriet: “My life depends on it.” Because right now, in this moment, this is the youngest you’re ever going to be. There is no magic pill, there is no reverse, there is no turn back the clock, Garnier magic special cream. Dr. Angie: Yup. Harriet: Your body is now, and your body depends on you to be putting in the right stuff. Your life depends on it. And that is such a powerful message that I feel every woman, every man, every child needs to hear. Dr. Angie: Yes. And I still need to hear that! [00:15:18]  Harriet: The last thing I want to ask about your story and your experiences is – I know that you're on a healing journey already, but how has it been for a woman? Has it led to you finding the right person to spend your life with? Has it led to you having a family? How did you get over the pain? Have you been attending courses? Have you been working with a coach? Harriet: What's been the road map for you? [00:15:45]  Dr. Angie: There's so many levels of healing, right? Dr. Angie: I still have lymphedema in my body – my right arm and my right leg. I have to wear these compression things. My body is still recovering from what we call the collateral damage of chemo and radiation. Dr. Angie: For those of you who don’t know, of course I never wanted to put that in my body, right? The integrative doctors are like; "No, don't do that!" But for me, I had fluid in my lungs! I had fluid around my heart! I had a fractured L5. I was in a wheelchair.  Dr. Angie: So, there comes a point where there's a limitation. You’ve got to have that chemo. I was fortunate enough to just have it for two-and-a-half months, and it really helped my body put the fire out of this cancer journey. [00:16:37] Dr. Angie: But I’m still a work-in-progress. I don’t have it all put together. I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that I am just walking it out, day by day. Dr. Angie: Loving myself more every day, accepting myself every day, even though my body is not the weight that I want it right now. It's got limitations. I can't adjust – I only adjust [to] about a handful of people a day. I'm just grateful. Dr. Angie: I'm grateful I'm not in a wheelchair. I'm grateful I can walk. I'm grateful I can take the dog for a walk. That's kind of where I'm at; just being grateful for every day. [00:17:45] Harriet: You know, we all have these points in our lives, where we’ve just got to say; enough is enough, and I’m just glad that you got out of it alive, and you’re on the healing journey up. Dr. Angie: Yes. [00:17:59]  Harriet: Is there a person in your experience who’s had an amazing transformation or who’s made amazing progress who you’ve worked with that you'd like to share? Dr. Angie: Gosh, I'm so blessed, there’s – I've got such a great handful of women right now that have had positive results. Dr. Angie: Just yesterday, literally, someone had a clear scan, and the results are clear. Another woman did all the nutrition stuff and she's having a small surgery and she's doing great. Where I come in is that encouraging word every week, or I email you, or I text you – I'm walking with you, and you don't feel alone! Dr. Angie: And the timing is always perfect, because God always puts them in my heart at the right time, and I call them or I check in.  [00:18:56]  Dr. Angie: The letters and the emails I get are just proof of the blessing and the impact that we're actually making. Right now, we've got five women that are just thriving and kicking butt. Already, this woman that just got her clear scan yesterday is already doing a video and promoting Healing Agents! And being an ambassador! She’s had surgery today, too, so I’m like; "Wow! Look at the transformation already!" Dr. Angie: Not even a day after her [surgery], and she’s already, like; “Okay, I’m doing this!” She took off her wig and showed her bald head, and was so strong and passionate. Dr. Angie: I’m humbled. I’m so humbled that this is happening. [00:19:46]  Harriet: Wow. Harriet: It's like when you have a child, and they're learning to ride a bike. You'd put your hand on their – put it at the back of the saddle. And you're holding on, and when you know they've got it, you're like; "and you're ready to go." And they just fly. [00:20:20]  Harriet: Let's head on to our advice section. Harriet: What is one big piece of advice that you enjoy giving to people every single day? Whether it's water, whether it's chiropractic, eating greens – what is it for you that you feel is super important? [00:20:37]  Dr. Angie: I just want them to breathe. Dr. Angie: It's so overwhelming. You've got six doctors coming at you. You've got your bin of supplements. But I really encourage the listener right now to just stop, take a deep breath. You're not going to die today. You're not going to die tomorrow. It took fifteen plus years for this thing to get in your body, it's going to take some time. But to know that you are right where you're supposed to be. Dr. Angie: And if could just pause, and trust that, that's where some big healing can happen. Harriet: Nice. All good things take time. Dr. Angie: Absolutely.   [00:21:22]  Harriet: And there's a lot of listeners, Dr. Angie, who haven't got cancer. They don't have a diagnosis, but they know that their body isn't charging forward at its best. What are some great pointers that you can give to help listeners make the movement towards their ideal health? Dr. Angie: You know, we talked about that one thing, right? We want to talk about that pause in a day. Those quiet moments. Dr. Angie: I would always look at fear. Where there's fear, there's no love, right? And I think fear has been a big blocker in my life, and I still have to do an inventory; "Okay, where's the fear meter today?" And I think fear blocks the immune system. I think it blocks all the processes of the body, and it takes up so much space! [00:22:16] Dr. Angie: Fear is just a false evidence appearing real. It's an old story that we're talking about. I would advise them to see what might be underlying the thing, that fearful part, that's not allowing them to move forward. [00:23:08] Harriet: Your one thing, as recommended by Dr. Angie, is some quiet time. Take inventory and look at your fear and see where it is. [00:23:24]  Harriet: If you can go back in time, twenty, thirty years, and tell your old self one thing, what would that be? Dr. Angie: I love this question, because I think I literally just told myself this week that I've been such a driver in getting things moving, and trying to do it on my own strength. Dr. Angie: I would say; “Baby girl – (I always like to say that, because that's how God kind of talks to me some times) – baby girl, you are enough. You are fearfully and wonderfully made." And that; “God has all these plans laid out for us.”  Dr. Angie: Where I am today – even a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to do this interview with you with such confidence and love, and just enough authentic place. I would have been worried about; "Oh, did I say the right thing?” or, “What are the listeners going to think?" Now, I'm just living fearlessly, because we just conquered stage four crazy cancer. Dr. Angie: Life is short. Boom! What's next? Harriet: I love that! And I’m excited for your book to come out; Living Fearlessly. [00:24:56]  Harriet: You’ve been brilliant. There is one last thing that I want to get your opinion on, before we go into the clarity round. And that is chiropractic. Harriet: I hear a lot of people say; "Chiropractic is great if you are having a sports injury,” “Chiropractic is great if you've got a bad back.” Who would you recommend chiropractic is really suited for? [00:25:21]  Dr. Angie: Oh, my goodness – every single person in the world! Dr. Angie: I’m a paediatric chiropractor, specialized in pregnancy and pregnant moms. [00:25:38] Dr. Angie: Okay, so here's Chiropractic 101 that a lot of people missed, because the world and society puts us in this low-back pain box: chiropractic is a nerve-function profession. We literally look for the fuses in the spine of every single tissue, cell, and organ is controlled by the nervous system. So, especially the cancer patient. I couldn’t have processed the chemo every week, the radiation every week. I went to my guru chiropractors that taught at the Chiropractic College. They did every technique we have in chiropractic on me. Dr. Angie: I make sure that the people that I work with find that chiropractor in their life, because each adjustment is going to increase your immune system 48%. Dr. Angie: When you’re fighting cancer or any illness, any autoimmune disease – gosh. It’s a function thing! So, let’s give a hundred percent function in the body, right? Makes sense. [00:27:15]  Harriet: I had a few statistics, actually, that I hope you can clear up on functioning usage of your body, and how your body functions without a chiropractic adjustment. Are you aware of those? Is there any that you can fill me in on? [00:27:30]  Dr. Angie: I just know that, that adjustment, they did research that a single, tiny adjustment increases the immune system 48%. There are so many research articles out there. The best website I send everybody to is the ICPA4kids.org. They have tons of research about how chiropractic helps kids with asthma, helps kids function better with autism. I've worked closely with a lot of these doctors and leaders in my profession and it’s insane how much cool stuff happens in your office. [00:28:12]  Dr. Angie: And you want to find the chiropractor that's teaching orientations in their health class. [00:28:27] Dr. Angie: We also have this cool network called the League of Chiropractic Women, and that's what I'm a part of as well. Girl, I can get you a chiropractor in any state of this country. That’s how big we are. It's a sisterhood and it's amazing passionate women that love chiropractic and are changing lives every week. [00:29:00]  Harriet: Let's head into the quick fire questions and do a wrap up. Are you ready? Dr. Angie: Perfect. Bring it! [00:29:07] Harriet: What is your favorite movie? Dr. Angie: Top Gun. Tom Cruise all the way. [00:29:18]  Harriet: What is your favorite book? Dr. Angie: Brené Brown. All her books. The last one, Rising Strong – I loved that one. [00:29:31] Harriet: Nice. And your favorite food? Dr. Angie: Chocolate. Harriet: Any particular one? Dr. Angie: No. Just dark, healthy, superfood chocolate. [laughs] 70% cacao. Harriet: Those are good feelings. And speaking of feelings… [00:29:49]  Harriet: What is your favorite feeling? [00:29:55]  Dr. Angie: Joy, baby. It's all about joy. [00:30:11]  Harriet: What is your favorite vegetable? [00:30:32]  Dr. Angie: Too many. Dr. Angie: Green drinks, because it's easier. [00:30:43]  Harriet: What is the best advice for your industry you've ever received? [00:30:57]  Dr. Angie: Get that green drink in your body. It’s micro-nutrition, especially in the cells. [00:31:17]  Harriet: Can you share one of your personal habits that you feel contributes to your successful health? [00:31:26]  Dr. Angie: Life changing habit is that quiet time in the morning, or when I get home and the house is – I've gotten my son off to school, my husband's gone off to the office, and I have that quiet moment, that pause where I can just pray and center myself and meditate. Read encouraging things. I love reading the bible, and – just pause. Because I’m on God’s time now! All of my reports show I should have been gone two years ago, so, I’m on his assignment. [00:32:10]  Harriet: What is one technological piece of equipment – maybe an app or book or training or sort of tool – that you and your bod cannot live without? [00:32:20]  Dr. Angie: The iPhone, because it's the music. I got to have music all around me, all the time. [00:32:33]  Harriet: Is there any particular song right now that you can't stop listening to? [00:32:34]  Dr. Angie: Yes there is! [laughs] Dr. Angie: The running joke is with my family. I drive them to school, and they’re like; “No, not that song!” It's Justin Timberlake's "I've got this feeling inside my bones." [00:33:08]  Harriet: Who is your hero? [00:33:16]  Dr. Angie: Dr. Andrew Wakefield and Del Bigtree. He's the producer of the movie Vaxxed. They are putting their lives on the line for the truth about the vaccines that we have in this country. They’re not promoting don’t vaccinate! but, we need to be able to have the choice as a parent to decide what we want for our children. Dr. Angie: And really, it’s about getting vaccines safer. They’re my heroes right now. They're affecting change for the future generations of our children. I give it up to them. [00:33:59]  Harriet: Who are three people that you know that you would love for us to have on this podcast? [00:34:11]  Dr. Angie: My newest friend, who I got to meet just a few weeks ago, is Anita Moorjani. She wrote the book, Dying To Be Me. [00:35:01] Dr. Angie: She’s amazing, she’s become like a mentor for me. I love her message, [it’s] all about love and joy. [00:35:18] Dr. Angie: My other – I haven’t met her yet, but – one of my recommended readings from my people at Healing Agents is Dr. Lissa Rankin. She wrote book Mind Over Medicine. It’ so great, it’s so well-written. [00:36:17]  Harriet: Is there anything that you like to leave the listeners with today? [00:36:23]  Dr. Angie: Yes. I have a free download of my book for you – an e-version on the website. If you just got to HealingAgents.org (http://healingagents.org/), put your name and email in there, and you will get a free copy of Redeem Your Health – and some extra goodies with that. Dr. Angie: Along there, we've got the big, huge, benefit concert. If you click events, you can go straight to Ticket Master. Read all about the event – k it's going to be awesome. Every ticket we sell is going to go straight toward the scholarships, and helping families bridge the gap from the integrative care they need, or bills they need. Whatever their needs are, we're here to support them. I’d love to see you guys there! [00:37:09] Harriet: Amazing! Thank you so much for being a brilliant guest, and I look forward to hearing more about what are you’re up to soon. I feel like there's some big things coming your way! So, I'm excited to – maybe we can go for a round two, but thank you for joining us.

Zac Deane/ Owning Your Inner Greatness; Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually, and Financially

Welcome to today's podcast episode. Today, we have Zac Deane from Raw Cave. Zac is awesome. I’m super excited to get chatting with him. He does many things – he does so many things. The most cool thing about Zac is that he recently bought a chime to the sound – and the frequency of – love which is fascinating. We’re going to hear about all of that a little bit later, I’m sure. He is a certified health coach, he is a YouTuber, and also an actor.   [00:01:02]  Harriet: Zac, I’d love for you to give a brief introduction of yourself – about your business and what it is that you’re really passionate about and focused on right now?  Zac: Cool. Thank you so much for having me; this is super exciting. I love technology; it's just incredible what we can do these days. There’s just no limit. Zac: So, my vision is really to inspire all young people to own their inner greatness. That starts physically, emotionally, in a relationship, spiritually, and also financially. I do that through video, through coaching, through presenting, through building a team in a triad here in Sydney and online. Harriet: Awesome! Harriet: That’s pretty cool, that’s exciting. I love that you’re helping young people everywhere.   [00:02:03]  Harriet: What’s the most inspiring thing for you in your business right now, and who is it that you absolutely love to help? Zac: I’m that weird dude that loves waking up every single day and just excited for life. I don’t like to go to bed, because – it’s like; I want to stay awake! I have to force myself to go to sleep sometimes! [00:02:29]  Zac: I'm just excited with the people that I'm meeting and attracting into my life. I really believe you attract who you are, so this journey of just delving deep within my self is really exciting. The self-discovery and personal development and personal evolution, as I call it, and the people I’m meeting. Zac: love working with, really, people who have a spark of energy – the creative energy. They want to give back and impact the world. People who have a vision or who are already doing this type of thing. Zac: And anybody, like, with my story – we’re going to get into my story a bit – anybody who's wanting to lose weight, have better energy, better sleep, improve their muscle – all those physical things that we want. Those are the main few things that people come to me for. Harriet: Awesome! [00:03:26] Harriet: The Naked Health Warriors podcast is always about showing and presenting to the listeners that your past doesn’t necessarily have to equal your future. [00:03:41]  Harriet: I’d love for you to share a little bit about what influenced you when you're growing up, about your upbringing, and things positive and negative that have impacted your life? [00:03:50]  Zac: It's been a wild journey. Zac: I've been in the health and wellness journey my whole life. I've had a lot of ups and downs. [00:04:12] Zac: Growing up in primary school, I was chubby and I was picked on. I went to a Rudolf Steiner school, so super creative – we've been learning about reading and writing very well. It was more like arts and music – so a very creative upbringing. But I was a chubby kid and I had really low self-esteem. Zac: I really didn't believe in myself. I couldn't talk to the person next to me. I’d get really nervous in class, asking questions. I would hide away from the reality by eating my sorrows and hiding that way and playing computer games. I was an absolute geek. Any nerds out there? Give it up—[laughs]. And I would just play computer games, like, sixteen hours a day, if I could get away with it. [00:05:04]  Zac: I had a lot of family issues as well. I didn't see my dad until I was seven, so I had all these things going on. I put lot of pressure on myself. Zac: When I was seventeen years old, I luckily had a mentor. Someone who really believed in me. He was like; hey, Zac. I see something in you, and I want to start working with you! Zac: He was a family friend – he's like twenty years older than me. His name is Jamie, so I’ll give him some credit. He really helped me in fitness and nutrition, and confidence, and talking to girls. Getting out my comfort zone and things like that. Zac: He taught me these things that I implemented in my life. And those were simple things that really worked. I knew in my mind that there were so many people out there struggling with their health and wellness that, with these little changes, they could really turn it around really quickly! [00:06:07] Zac: I then worked for a company called Vitamix – here in Australia, they’re called Raw Blend. I travelled the country with them making real food and smoothies and stuff for years. And then I studied nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and then started health coaching halfway through that course. Zac: That was about two years ago, and I’ve been health coaching ever since. [00:06:33] Zac: And then I started my YouTube channel. I had a friend who had 70,000 subscribers on YouTube. We were brainstorming ideas for a movie, and I ended up making a green smoothie for us during the break. Zac: I turned around from the fridge – as I grabbed all the green veggies and fruits out of the fridge – and he filmed it. And I was like; “what are you doing?” I kind of had these nerves, going; oh my God, I can’t film anything, this is crazy! And he goes; “no, no, come on, let’s do it.” I’m like; “Fine!” [00:07:07] Zac: We started two and a bit years ago, so we’ve got over a hundred and thirty videos up on YouTube at Raw Cave, so you guys might want to check it out. [00:07:30] Harriet: Awesome! I love it! Harriet: One thing that I want to reiterate back is that a lot of women believe that it’s only women who eat their feelings. I totally believe the opposite. I don’t believe there’s a sexist barrier, there is no; aw, guys don’t – because, yeah! Harriet: Everyone sits down and feels a little less than ideal sometimes, and tries to eat food to make themselves feel better, which is what one of our programs is all about changing.  [00:08:22]  Harriet: What was the lowest point in your health journey? How did you truly get out of that? Zac: Yeah, there’s definitely been a lot of ups and downs. Zac: When I first started coaching a couple years ago, I found the biggest challenge was really just my own mindset. [00:08:49] Zac: I had to really learn to be the example for other people. I really had to take responsibility and step up as a man. I have to lead by example. The best way to influence other people, I believe, you can’t force anybody to do anything. You have to lead by example. Zac: The struggle for me was around my peer group. Disassociating myself from some of my friends who would go out and party every weekend. It was a struggle because I love belong. I love my friends. And I felt like I wouldn’t be myself – I wouldn’t have identity with my friends. Zac: My biggest struggle, biggest lesson – and the most rewarding – was separating myself from my old peer group. As a result of doing that, I found new friends who are empowering, who believe in me more, who are supportive, little healthier, and that’s changed every part of my health. [00:10:49]  Harriet: I’d love for you to share with the listeners some of your greatest – let’s say three – three of your greatest healthy living life lessons that you've discovered over the years. Zac: This concept of – I think I learned it when I went to Tony Robbins. He talked about – from NLP – it’s called modelling. [00:10:58]  Zac: You look at people who are doing well in life or being successful in their life. You look at the recipe that they’ve created or they’re following, and you just do the similar thing. That’s why modelling has been something that’s really transformed my life. With my health, particularly around training and nutrition and eating. Also, mindset around relationships, around making money as well. There's a formula for all that stuff. Zac: From that, when you study any of these successful people, they usually have a powerful morning routine. Whether it’d be twenty minutes or an hour or something that really sets their day of success. Morning routines, daily method of operation kind of thing has, been a game changer for me and my team. [00:12:01]  Zac: Its simple stuff like hydrating in the morning, drinking a liter of water, exercising – I have a sauna at my house – having, like, Epsom salt baths, meditating – all that sort of stuff. Keeping it simple morning routines. Zac: And then, [I have] an evening routine, which is just turning technology off or meditating, or just – just chilling out at night time. Winding down. Zac: Second one – or third one, I guess you could say – would be finding an accountability buddy. A friend of yours or a coach. Someone is at the same level as you who you can push together and do – do life with. Maybe catch up once a week, or once every couple of weeks, or once a day over the phone. Zac: Finding an accountability buddy has been a game changer for me as well. Harriet: Nice! [00:12:50] Harriet: I’ll go over those again so the listeners can get those; NLP – modelling – someone has a really great routine or habit and I want to know exactly how to do it Having a morning routine – setting yourself up for success. The second half of that is having a wind-down routine Find an accountability buddy [00:14:31]  Harriet: If you could travel back in time – maybe ten, fifteen, twenty, years – and tell yourself something, anything; what would you tell yourself? Zac: For me, personally, my journey has been around finding worth and building my belief in myself around that I am enough, that I am capable of anything that I put my mind to. I'm older enough – just that belief. Building belief in myself has been a massive part of my whole journey. Zac: And deserving. Deserving of love, deserving of relationships, deserving of health, deserving of money – the sense of deserving, for some reason, has been a massive part of my life. The more that I build that belief, everything changes. Harriet: Nice. Awesome, and I’m sure there’s a lot of our listeners who are listening, and they are in a place in their lives where they don’t feel like they’re enough, and don’t feel capable. [00:15:36]  Harriet: How would you best advise a lot of our listeners [on] the very best way – or an easy way –to start beginning to build some books of belief and feeling worthy? [00:15:47]  Zac: Everyone is different but, I found that I build a lot of belief as I started to spend time with other people who believed in themselves. Zac: The fact that we become the average of the five people we spend the most time with or the saying, you know; who we spend time with is who we become, is something that really stood out for me. Zac: I started spending time with other people who believed in themselves. I went to different seminars and events. Looked at my social group or looked on Facebook and I saw people who were doing things and who were believing in themselves or giving back to the world – you know, really taking ownership of their life. [00:16:40] Zac: Also, reading books! Reading books to find out the how-to, or people stories, is a massive thing as well. Zac: Steve Jobs said, when we realize that most of the world was created by someone who was no smarter than us, that’s – it’s a massive game-changer. Everyone’s in the same boat – everybody struggles with these things most of the time. [00:17:44] Harriet: Something that I find is really important is the metaphor behind the Naked Health Warrior’s brand. I like helping people get fully back to basics. There’s no need to overcomplicate everything. It’s nice to keep it simple.   Harriet: So I want to talk to you about Real Health, and what it actually is to you. I’d love for you to share what real health is for you, and what it actually means for you. Zac: The reason I really got into all this – if we were to backtrack in terms of my family, like lineage and heritage and stuff like that, there’s been a lot of mental health issues. There’s been a lot of suicide and depression and anxiety. [00:18:29]  Zac: Really, true health for me started with just myself – improving myself. Feeling in control of my life, in control of my energy, in control of my outlook on life, in control of my actions. Having a sense of control and certainty around that. Zac: It's cool to get a six-pack, it’s cool to have these before-and-after photos – they’re all kind of the ego. [00:18:57] Zac: That's only one part of it, because – I found I filled my cup up in terms of my health, I filled it up so full that it’s just overflowing with wellness and goodness and vitality. The best part of that is when you can actually help someone else fill their cup up, and help their cup overflow with vitality and goodness and wellness. Zac: I believe true wellness is being able to contribute and being able to help other people. [00:20:32] Zac: Contribution is really the highest level of health. [00:20:49]  Harriet: What advice would you give to listeners who are in a place of – they actually kind of need to go inside and fix themselves first. What's one of the ideal first step that they should take?  [00:20:59]  Zac: Just to realize that all is divine at all times. To build on success and build on belief like; we are not broken. We are responsible for everything in our lives, and we’re also responsible for everything not in our lives right now – but we’re not to blame for it.   Zac: Just to realize where we are is totally fine and if you want to start taking action for example; motivation is good – like, motivational videos on YouTube and stuff like that will get you off the couch and get you moving. But long term motivation or long term action comes from inspiration. Zac: So in – inside; inspiration, alright? Not from outside. [00:21:43] Zac: It’s kind of a weird thing. Us, as humans, we’re usually motivated more away from pain than we are towards pleasure. [00:22:27] Zac: Think about where you want to be and then start focusing on where you want to be as your vision of what you want to create. So, maybe a vision board or images or a whiteboard – whatever it is to keep you focused each day.  Harriet: Nice! So, two things, listeners, from Zac: Harriet: Number one; if you’re in a place where you’re wanting to move, you’re wanting to get off the couch, or whatever it is that you’re currently experiencing, the first thing is; you need to go within and ask exactly – what is going to happen if I don’t something about this? Where am I going to end up in six month? Harriet: Also; look at the opposite side. Inspiration – how can you involve yourself inside whatever’s going on inside and bring it out. [00:23:22]  Harriet: I’d love for you to share one Healthy Living Golden Nugget that you believe everyone should live by? [00:23:40]  Zac: In society now, we live in a world that’s completely different to where it was a hundred years ago. We have a lot of environmental toxicity in our environment that we don’t really think about. [00:24:23] Zac: So I would say cleansing and fasting for today's society is the number one thing. I think in fifty years’ time, when we look back on today, we’ll go; what the hell were we thinking? [00:25:01] Zac: A great documentary for everybody out there is; “Eat, Fast, And Live Longer.” It talks about the people who live the longest in this planet are those who eat the least amount of food.  [00:25:53] Harriet: Love it! Harriet: Let’s wrap up with the QuickFire Questions – Clarity Round. Are you ready? [00:26:06]  Harriet: What is the very best advice you have received in this industry?  Zac: It's to be honest. Have honest conversation with yourself and other people.  [00:26:17]  Harriet: What is one successful habit that you believe strongly contributes to your successful health? Zac: Fasting and Cleansing. [00:26:25]  Harriet: What is the most weird but super effective thing that you do in your health regime? Zac: Sit in the sun – naked. [00:26:36]  Harriet: What is one technological piece of equipment, device, audio, app, book, training or other tool that you can't live without? Zac: The Smartphone. [00:26:58]  Harriet: What is the number one investment that you've made in your life that’s contributed to your health? Zac: Personal growth, personal development.  [00:27:07]  Harriet: Who is your hero? Zac: Elon Musk.  [00:27:38]  Harriet: What do you believe is something that's going to start to really shift the current health paradigm that we're experiencing? Zac: I think the raw honest conversations with people. Having raw, honest conversations around what's working, what's not. [00:28:14] Zac: So just being open to change that's probably the biggest thing. [00:28:21]  Harriet: What is your favorite movie currently?  Zac: Can I give you two? Harriet: Go for it. Zac: It's a documentary called “E-Motion” – powerful. Thirty minutes. It’s free on YouTube. Zac: Another one – one is on Netflix, it’s called; “All The Masks You Wear.”  [00:29:08]  Harriet: What is your favorite fruit [or] vegetable?  Zac: Spinach [00:29:14]  Harriet: And your favorite drink? Zac: On my YouTube channel, I made this thing called a Blues. It's a smoothie and a juice in one, I invented it. It's half smoothie, half juice. [00:29:39]  Harriet: Who are three people who you think are absolutely imperative to get on this podcast? [00:29:46]  Zac: Someone who's really impacted my life in the last couple of years would be my friend Peta Kelly. I really believe she's a powerhouse. Preston Smiles would be a great addition to this podcast, and my new friend Frank Jay Porcaro. [00:31:08]  Harriet: Zac, Are there any words or is there anything that you would like to part with the audience today? [00:31:16]  Zac: I think – just keep it simple. Keep it really, really simple. A confused mind will take no action.   Zac: Do it what you love and love what you do. [00:31:39]  Harriet: Amazing! Thank you so much Zac, this has been Harriet Worth on the Naked Health Warriors podcast. I look forward to you joining us for more podcasts just like this very soon. Dr. Martha Nessler/ Understanding Empowerment In the midst Of "Disempowerment Stage"

Hello and welcome to today’s episode of the Naked Health Warriors podcast. Today we have someone who is absolutely brilliant and I’m so super excited to have her on. She is Dr. Martha Nessler. Dr. Martha is absolutely phenomenal. She is an expert in Personal Success Strategies. She is all about human success – so your success! the listener, the person listening right now. She’s a speaker, a doctor of chiropractic from the United States of America. She works directly with lifestyle entrepreneurs who want to live a life of their dreams – so you, achieving your dreams. She wants to help you. She’s a master of essential oils. She’s an absolute wizard when it comes to figuring out how to help you manage your stress and a whole heap of other things. Mainly, her purpose she feels is to help people step into health, happiness and healing. 1:22 Harriet: Dr. Martha, I’d love to hear a little bit more about you so our listeners can get to know who you are and what you’re all about. Dr. Martha: Awesome! I can’t wait to share it with you. Harriet: Cool! I’d love for you to introduce yourself a little bit more to the listeners. Tell them a little bit about yourself, about you and your business. 1:40 Dr. Martha: Well, it all started as a chiropractor in the United States. I fell in love with a chiropractor from New Zealand and relocated in. I went through a really interesting time in my life where I kind of lacked everything I needed to be true which also meant leaving my career as a chiropractor and a professional speaker in chiropractic. I moved to New Zealand and I kind of went through this stage of, I call it disempowerment stage, where everything that I was kind of almost scooped one away and relocated in New Zealand and started this new life. As I began to do that I began to see that I could actually create the life of my dreams and that’s what I call lifestyle entrepreneur, someone who actually begins to build a lifestyle doing what they love. And I found that when I moved to New Zealand, in this “disempowering state” that I needed to really begin to understand empowerment and how we as individuals begin to empower ourselves to live out the life of our dreams. 2:35 Dr. Martha: And what I’ve done is I’ve merged the two, so now what I do is I’ve created an amazing life with an amazing man where we actually go around and we travel across 7 countries empowering individuals to make better decisions and to have the tools necessary to actually empower themselves to health, happiness and healing. And then on a more professional level, I work with other lifestyle entrepreneurs to do the exact same thing to live out a life of their dreams doing what they love and helping other people. 3:03 Harriet : That’s absolutely brilliant! I love what you’re doing and it’s such a powerful message that you have. So many people know how to empower people, but when it comes to themselves they don’t have the specific strategy, the specific understanding of how they need to be ignited, for a better word. 3:20 Harriet: I’d love for you to share a little bit about your upbringing. What’s been influencing you from a young age, positive and negative, from how you’ve been created into this brilliant person who’s able to have the want to go out there and help people? 03:36 Dr. Martha : It’s funny because I think our life is an accumulation of stepping stones and stopping points. And the interesting thing is I think that sometimes we forget that some of the most jagged stepping points, if you think of yourself as climbing up this cell, you think of this harder spot, the tough spots to get from Point A to Point B, those are actually the ones that really mold us and frame us the most. So for me, losing my mom at the age of two gave me this deep desire. My mom died of cancer within 4 months and I was two years old, my brother was six months old when she got diagnosed. And for me to know that this woman didn’t fully live out her life – and we didn’t really get to live our life with her, she was kind of robbed of a full life of health, happiness and healing. Losing her life at 29 she didn’t get to really, really live, kind of put this burning desire inside of me to help others fully live out their lives. 04:23 Dr. Martha: That’s my deep, deep why, that’s the why that makes me cry”. Just lots of different experiences with family, with my dad, and marrying, just living my life and “different levels of disempowerment”, finding ways to empower myself and get through them, have kind of brought me here today to empower other people. Let go of their anchors. Anchors hold us back, get rid of our anchors and start living our life and shining. 05:01 Harriet: Absolutely! I love that. Harriet: One thing that I really resonate is the levels of disempowerment. There’s little hurdles that we can get over. As human beings we are able to move past them and move on to better things. But then there’s these levels of disempowerment whereby in schools, universities and colleges we aren’t literally taught exactly how to get over those hurdles. You know, the real jaggedy steps, the things that are in our lives. That just happens to people everyday. If we’re not dealt with the hand and dealt with the skills to get over them it makes things so hard. Harriet: So I love the way that you explain that. 5:42 Harriet: What was your lowest point of disempowerment that you used to really boost yourself up? Dr. Martha: I’ll be honest with you. Immigrating. That was probably the lowest step for me because I think that when I was in my birth country in the United States I was surrounded by people that loved me, I was surrounded by friends. You know the accumulation of life over 32 years was constantly in my energy field around me. Dr. Martha: Moving to New Zealand, I was kind of like, going with your podcast, stripped naked. I didn’t have that, I didn’t have that right here. This was when it got really ugly and I was really naked and raw and I kind of had to get down to my relationship with God as my foundation and then beginning to recreate what I used to have. That was kind of roses and thorns. I got to recreate my life the way maybe it could have, should have been in America since I got to decide exactly who I was friends with, choose who my family here was. But there were some thorns because I felt in my soul I was replacing things that once were. 06:53 Dr. Martha: It was a really interesting experience getting through that and it just brought a whole new level in myself personally and professionally. Harriet: That’s brilliant! I love how you explained the roses and thorns. I think in our lives we should always be coming from a place of choice. And I think it’s such a powerful thing. Coming from a place of choice is that something that you spread on your lifestyle brand? 7:18: Dr. Martha : Oh, definitely – because we choose. No one wants to admit that – if we’re going to get really truthful on this podcast – no one wants to admit they have a choice. You have a choice about everything you do whether that adds to or deducts. So you have to stop and think about, that food that you are eating, does that add to your life or take away? That relationship that you are in, does that add to your life or take away? It’s all about choices. Sadly, our life is an accumulation of choices that add up to the end result. So yes, I definitely am big on making proper choices. 7:53 Harriet: I would love you to share with the listeners, with the people who are hearing you to let them know what your three greatest life lessons have been. Martha: One, make the most of every moment with the people that you love. I think that started when I lost my mother at two and has continued to throughout my life. You know, honoring your body. I think that so many people forget you have one human body. You don’t get to get a new one and this is it and I never wanted to be someone whose body was no longer functioning with a soul that was alive. 08:31 Martha: I have this really amazing experience in a nursing home with a woman who was in a nursing home bed. And she said, I was 18 years old, she said, “Martha, make sure you take care of your body. ‘Coz right now my body is not alive and my soul is.” Martha: And then, never forget to say I love you. Not isn’t just to other people but that’s mainly to yourself. One thing that’s missing in this world is what I call innate love. That’s the underlying thing behind what I do. That’s that inner love that we are born with that somehow gets stripped away. And if we can actually get back into that faith of loving who we are rather than expecting other people to love us, I think that the world would see a massive shift if we could tap into who we are and love ourselves in the way we were created rather than the way the world is trying to recreate us. 9:28 Harriet: Fantastic, so to recap for the listeners. Number 1, make the most of every moment. Number 2, honor your body. Number 3; telling yourself that you love you as well as others. 9:40 Harriet : When it comes to innate love – the listeners; how are they able to tap into this innate love? How can they be more innate in themselves right now in this moment? Martha: The best way to tap into your innate love and the love that you have to yourself is to get back to loving yourself. And that seems really easy, but for most people it’s really hard. And so what I do is I wake up every morning, and I spend my – I used to do an hour of power lifting, only sometimes I get 20 minutes of power because I got to get on to the next thing. So you’re spending 10 minutes in something spiritual, then say, 10 minutes in something educational and 10 minutes in something physical. Martha: For example I spend 10 minutes on my spiritual self. I love to read my Bible, I love to pray. I spend 10 minutes for my physical self, you know, doing burpies or sit-ups or going on a brisk walk with my dog. And then 10 minutes for my educational self. Just reading something to wake up my brain so that I’m fresh and alive. 10:40 Martha : And then I do what’s called aromatic dressing  and speaking words of truth. So it is something you have to do naked. You kind of get naked in front of the mirror and you’ve got some essential oils and you use oils to empower yourself. You use oils for the way you want to feel, not the way you feel.   Martha: For example, this morning, I’ve got a lot on my plate – as every entrepreneur does. I used motivational blend, I used Douglas fir, frankincense and passion. One or two drops of each in a little dish of coco oil and I just start from the legs and begin to actually aromatically dress my whole body and speaking words of love and truth. 11:23 Martha : For example today I might say; today is an amazing day, Martha. You’re here to share your message with the world. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. When I rub my nervous system, I tell my nervous system that I couldn’t function without you. I just really get back to people connecting to who they are and loving themselves with all their lumps and bumps, you know, all the phases they wish weren’t there. Martha: Loving yourself for who you are. Because, the thing is, we’ve all heard this saying; “Oh my kids don’t love me, my husband doesn’t love me.” Harriet: Mm-hmm. Martha: But when we really get down to it; do you love you? Martha: Because if you love yourself and set this love standards, this innate standard of love, people can easily love you. Now, all of a sudden, Dean knows how much to love me. I know how much I love myself and I’m not asking Dean to pour into me something that I’m not giving myself. 12:18 Harriet : It’s so important when you love yourself, it doesn’t matter if someone else is having a bad day. You don’t have to take it out on them because then you are already full. You are full person. You’re not waiting on Dean to feel like, “honey, fill me up”. You are a fill up human already. I love that. Martha: It also becomes a difference, as – I just want to add – between emanating love and giving that love. When you’re full of love, you actually emanate that love. You’re not having to give from a space that might be depleting you. Because when you’re full, you almost overflow. It’s really important that people begin to see that who you are and loving you allows you to love God more and love other people more; your children, your family, your co-workers. But it starts with you. It’s a ripple effect outside of you. You have to get there yourself. 13:02 Harriet : That’s beautiful. Such a powerful message. Love is a beautiful thing. I love it. 13:09 Harriet : Martha I would love you to share something raw and authentic about yourself. I would love to know if you went back in time 20 years, what is one thing that you would tell your old self? Martha: Wow. Martha: Probably – other people’s opinions don’t matter. People are allowed to have their opinions and they are allowed to express that opinion. Just like I’m allowed to have my opinion and express it but, definitely going back 20 years, I’d say, other people’s opinions don’t matter. Because I think that being in the sensitive spirit, the healer that I am, the lover that I am, I got wrapped up sometimes in what other people thought about me. Martha: They were allowed to think that, but whether or not I thought it too was my choice. Harriet: Beautiful. 13:53 Harriet : Now, as you know, the Naked Health Warriors Podcast is all about true health to every individual. Because everybody, every single person’s body, is totally different in so many different ways. Harriet: So, I’d love for you to share a little bit about real health to you – because it is different for every person. It’s great to hear from someone else because maybe someone else’s health regime, someone else’s opinion of real health, can help. So what is real health to you? What does it mean and why is it so important? 14:24 Martha : Well, I think getting back to who you are, that innate self-connecting to who you are – I think it plays with a few roles. It plays a little bit with our ancestor. It’s a lot about; what did your ancestors eat, and look at what you are eating today. I think that we need to look back at who we are genetically and begin to see that what we eat and who we are plays a very important role today. Martha: That’s one thing that I think is really important. For me, start to listen to your body. A lot of people say; oh, every time I eat that, I get sick. Every time I eat that I get indigestion. The body has an amazing way of – I call it tough love, or maybe the body’s love language. Things like burping, gas, diarrhea, indigestion, headache, that’s your body’s love language. That’s your body’s way of saying, “Hey, Martha, hey Harriet, I didn’t really love when you did that. I think that that doesn’t actually serve me. Maybe you could do this instead.” 15:33 Martha: I think, too often we don’t listen to the inner voice of our body. We think that our body is just something to be silenced, because we’ve been taught that. We’ve been taught that if you have a headache, take a pill and make the headache go away, but that love language is really important. That’s one of my big things about health. Find out who you are and what serves you. Martha: You and I just talked about bone growth and it gave you a little bit of a headache. It can be either way. Do what serves you, not what everybody else is doing because we’re not just one person. Genetically, you’re an individual. You got to do what serves you. Harriet: Wow, so much info! 16:07 Harriet: I absolutely love that you mentioned about genetics and ancestry and what did your people before you eat. It’s so true there’s so much interesting ingredients in our foods these days and some of us, we just don’t know any better. We haven’t researched, we haven’t looked, we haven’t asked the right questions, because it feels like the right thing to do. I love that. No one has ever mentioned that before and it’s an excellent, excellent time to bring up. The fact that we are all different. And you should be looking back to what your people eat. Harriet: I’ve met some of my personal clients and some of them are really great on rice. Some aren’t. You need to look into your ancestry and your genetics. And I totally love your message about listening to your body. Absolutely brilliant powerful stuff. 17:02 Harriet : So, moving towards the end, let’s get this thing wrapped up. I’d love for you share more about your raw naked self because you’ve been sharing some excellent gold nuggets today. Harriet : What is one really simple, healthy living golden nugget that you believe every human should live by, whether it’s chiropractic. What is one of your beliefs everyone should live by? 17:25 Martha : I have to be honest. I don’t practice chiropractic in New Zealand but I am definitely probably the biggest advocate globally for chiropractic. I think that if people begin to understand the importance of getting checked regularly by a chiropractor, because the nervous system is so important. When we look at what the nervous system does for our body – yes, chiropractic is the foundation for everyone, from birth ‘til death. 17:57 Harriet : And what would you say is the number one most amazing transformation that you’ve seen either personally or known of from one of your clients when it comes to using that healthy living golden nugget? 18:09 Martha: So funny; I had a woman come in to me for neck pain, didn’t mention she couldn’t hear out of her right ear. At all. For years. She came in the office the next day and she said, “I am really angry at you,” and I thought, “Oh, wow.” Martha: She said, “I didn’t tell you about my right ear so I know that this is real”. But she had a chirping bird outside of her bedroom and she slept on her left side and she said, I can hear those stupid birds chirping. I think she did not have her hearing for about 15 years so having someone get her hearing back on her right side – it was quite funny because she was actually angry – Harriet: [laughs] Martha: -- more hysterical -- Harriet: that’s a great story of transformation! 19:10 Harriet : What is the best advice for your industry you have ever received? Martha : It’s all about you and it’s not about you. Harriet: Cryptic. I like it. 19:18 Harriet: Can you share with us a technological piece of equipment, app, book, training or whatever kind of tool that you and your body cannot live without? Martha : Putting it down, I like to put – I’d read a book, or— Harriet: Yeah? You’re a book fan? 19:39 Harriet : What’s your number one book that you’ve read in the last 3 months? 1Martha : A Glimpse Into My Life. It was my grandmother’s memoirs that she handwrote. I read it every year. Harriet: That’s fantastic! 19:47 Harriet: What investment or resource would you recommend for people who want to improve their health right now and get back to their naked self? Martha : I think a gratitude journal and the app, Seven. It’s the seven-minute work-out you can do first thing in the morning. That’s really awesome. 20:04 Harriet : Who is your hero? Public or private, whatever. Martha : My grandmother. Helen Nessler? She just was everything I wanted to be and taught me so much about how to be an amazing human being. 20:17 Harriet: What do you believe the health industry is missing right now? What does the world need most? Martha : They need the truth. That’s what I’m working on. I want to do, I guess, the grassroots movement called Human Being Empowered – just to get the truth out there and make it simple. Like I love to say; Keep it Simple Sunshine. The KISS method. Getting back to the basics. That’s where I want to take people. 20:51 Harriet : Who do you recommend, who do you know that I should be getting on this podcast? 20:58 Martha : Dr. Josh Axe. He’s a chiropractor by training. He’s an amazing individual and a wonderful human being. He’s awesome. 21:14 Harriet: I would love if there is any last piece of advice that you can offer to the listeners that you want to part with? [An] impression that you want to leave with them? Martha : I’d say fall madly and deeply in love with yourself and allow yourself to live the life of your dreams. 21:44 Harriet : Listeners, you probably want to find a little bit more about her. You can head over to her website www.drmarthanessler.com where she has an amazing webinar on stress and how you can manage stress right now in the 21st century 22:13 Harriet: Thank you so much, Martha, for offering some true golden nuggets from someone who’s got so much experience in multiple different areas. I love your message and I love what you’re doing.

Ben Dessard/ On Paradigm Shift; Changing things through to a Better "You"

Hello and welcome to today’s episode of The Naked Health Warrior’s Podcast. Today we have the absolutely amazing Ben Dessard for you. It’s going to be an absolute treat. Ben is a Wellness World Traveler. What on earth is that? We’re going to find out a little bit more today about Ben and how he’s been living his life and creating his absolutely amazing health journey from self and other people around him.   Ben is, at the moment, at an amazing retreat in New Zealand and he’s helping heaps of people through his yoga practices and heaps of different things.   1:12 Harriet: Ben, tell us a little bit more about what you’re doing right now. I’d love to know – and I’d love for you to share with the listeners – what it is that you’re up to!   Ben: Well, what I’m doing these days is really taking people on a transformation journey. So I work in a retreat in the South Island of New Zealand. What happens here is, people come for five to seven days and reconnect to nature and to themselves. I’m here to support and guide them in their journey. It’s really amazing to see people go through such an intense experience in a short time.   Harriet: That’s brilliant! That sounds super exciting.   2:12   Harriet: So, Ben. You’ve obviously come from an athletic background, being in soccer. How do feel [that] what you were doing previously is really useful for what it is that’s going on in your exciting career right now?   2:23   Ben: Every single thing we do in life, is a step that takes us to what we’re doing right now.   Ben: Every single thing I’ve done in the past is contributing to what I can offer today. Whether it’s my background as a soccer player, where I’ve learned to work with a team towards a goal and have this intensity, and then going through injuries that have taught me patience and awareness of my body. And then going into yoga, where I’ve discovered how to work with the mind and control the mind and connecting within yourself.   Ben: It’s really been a blending of lessons that allow me today to contribute to something that feels complete.   Harriet: That’s pretty cool. So many people belief that all these successful health people and people working in the health industry have just landed on their feet, and it’s kind of interesting that you’ve had some injuries and that’s really led to you getting to where you are now.   3:37   Harriet: I’d love for you to share with the listeners a little bit about your story and your past, so they can get an understanding that what’s happened to you isn’t always the ‘be all, end all.’   Harriet: You can learn from it and take yourself forward.   Ben: I come from the French countryside. I’ve grown up with a soccer ball in my feet and a glass of wine in my hand.   Ben: Growing up as a young adult in France, I would say soccer kept me healthy, but my lifestyle was really unhealthy. My diet was meat, baguette – which is white bread – cheese, and alcohol. When you’re young, you manage to stay very fit. But that doesn’t last so long.   Ben: After I tore the ACL in both my knees, and my meniscus, then came the back pain. For almost a year, I could barely stand up without having huge pain going down my leg. One of my vertebrae shifted and created bulging from my disc.   Ben: This started a journey of having to look at my lifestyle and why I was now in a situation where I was in a lot of pain and could not do what I loved to do before.   Harriet: That sounds like quite a large challenge to get over. I understand. We’ve had a few people on the podcast before who’ve also had back injuries.   5:16   Harriet: What was it for you that really helped push you through? I know not being able to use your body and stand up for a year must have been a big challenge. What was it that really helped push you through, push you forward?   Ben: From France, I was recruited to play division one soccer in [a] college in San Francisco. In the middle of this process – my second year of University – came all these back problems. So I had to shift from having a mindset of going professional and just doing soccer as a career to being told that soccer was over, and if I wanted to carry my child when I was 40 years old, I had to stop running and kicking a soccer ball.   Ben: It was a shock, but somehow – to answer your question – I didn’t really focus on it. I didn’t think of the consequences. Somehow, I took the situation as what it was and just went from there. From there was doing rehab so that my back [felt] good again. Was focusing on my studies.   Ben: I didn’t make a drama out of the situation. I didn’t spend my nights thinking about my wasted soccer career. I just focused the now, what I had to do now, and I had support from friends and family. I just moved on fairly easily, I have to say.   Harriet: Nice.   Harriet: One of my favorite quotes, actually, that you’ll love, is; what you focus on grows. It really sounds like you took yourself from focusing intently on soccer to focusing on getting well again, and I’m so pleased that you had the support to really help you get through.   7:30   Harriet: I’d love for you to share with the listeners a little bit about how you were able to push through in terms of your health. I’d love for you to share your 3 Greatest Healthy Living Lessons that you grasped from having that experience.   Ben: What happens when you’re faced with such a health issue is, you’re forced to bring awareness [of] your body. You have to think about; how can I get better?   Ben: This was a new process for me. As I stopped the training in soccer and I ate the same – which was pretty unhealthy and a lot – I gained some weight. So I had to think; okay, this is a new paradigm. I have to change things.   Ben: Through research, though awareness of the body, I learned 3 Main Things. The first one, which sounds very basic, is that you have to eat real food. For me, real food is food that you can digest properly and doesn’t create inflammation and toxicity in your body. When I shifted to that, the reduced inflammation helped my back.   Ben: The second would be that you have to bring that awareness to your body and to your mind. For me, it was about my posture. I realized I was sitting, standing, even running, wrong.   Ben: My third lesson, which came later on, is to reconnect to nature. I’ve realized how much we isolate ourselves. We live in super-sterilized environments. We don’t expose ourselves. This is a huge thing [that] I’ve learned. I go jogging barefoot in the park or in the sand. I go for a walk in nature, in the forest. I get some fresh air, expose my skin to the sun. Somehow exposing yourself to the elements of nature is really the third big lesson that I’ve learned.   Harriet: Awesome, Ben. I love that.   Harriet: So, to recap, Ben’s Top Three:   Eat real food; easy to digest and has no inflammation. Body and mind; getting your posture and your mind shifted into becoming more conscious. Exposing himself to the elements of nature.   11:25   Harriet: Ben, I’d love for you to share what you believe – because there’s always quick-fixes. There’s always ways to start moving in a certain direction. I’d love for you to share what do you think is a great way to start taking action for people to be moving torwards their ideal health today.   Ben: That’s a big one. I get asked that very often. People are looking for the best thing they can do to get healthier right now.   Ben: Usually what I tell them is not something they have to start eating or a certain exercise they have to do. What I usually tell them is they have to slow down and take some time to reflect a little bit. Just to ask themselves; what I’m doing in my life now – does it make sense? Does what I put in my mouth make sense? Just slow down and step back a little bit. And if you don’t know what to do, just do nothing. Give yourself space to allow this inner intuition to grow.   Ben: We’re living so fast. We’re going from one place to another. We just don’t slow down and let this inner intelligence which we all have – because we’re not all random, separate entities. We’re part of an ecosystem. We’re part of a bigger, interconnected environment which is driven by the deeper intelligence of nature. As organisms, [as] a part of nature, we have this intelligence within us. And when we allow ourselves to slow down – to create space – this intuition can rise.   Ben: So, yeah! My big tip, if you want to start today to get better, to get healthy; just so slow down. Give yourself some space.   Harriet: I love it, Ben. That’s so profound! One of my beliefs is that the quality of your life is determined by the questions that you ask yourself. By slowing down and reflecting, you’re able to ask yourself these questions not from a place of reaction, but from a place of where you want to be ideally.   14:08   Harriet: I’d love to know a little bit about what real health is to you. Because it’s different for every single person! What matters most to you about your personal health today?   Ben: That’s true. It’s different for everybody.   Ben: For me, real health is to feel meaningful. To feel that you’re actually part of something bigger than yourself – something positive – and this usually comes with clarity of mind. Of course you have to be pain-free and full of energy first, in order to feel that way, but real health – ultimately – is that you feel that you’re in the right place.   15: 50   Harriet: What is a Healthy Living Golden Nugget that you believe every single person should be living by?   Ben: My tip is that we should “eat” water. I know that might sound a little bit weird, but our body is made of 60-70% of water. This is the number one element that we should take care of. The best way to have the top quality water is to eat it. When I say eat water, I mean eat high water-content foods. This is the fruits and the vegetables. They are loaded with nature-filtered [and] energized water. If you eat loads of fruits and vegetables – and I really mean loads – everything can flow properly in our system.   Ben: Our body is fluid. It’s an aqueous place, full of water, where a lot of change is happening. If we want this to flow right, we need to keep well-hydrated. Yes, you can drink your liter of water in the morning – that’s fine – but the best water you can really absorb is the water in the fruits and vegetables, so load up on those.   Harriet: Nice!   Harriet: So basically, if you’re sticking to the fruits standards that says you should have five fruits and veg, you need to triple that.   Ben: Pretty much!   Harriet: It’s not just about having one liter of water in the morning. Excellent.   18:40   Harriet: Who is your current hero?   Ben: I’m always fearful of this question, because I never know what to say.   Harriet: [laughs]   Ben: I don’t really have one. My hero is … I mean right now, it would be maybe my sister, because she’s having troubles with her health. And she’s in a place where she’s not surrounded by people who [can] help her, but she’s doing the little steps. She’s still making effort to relax, to eat healthy food, despite her environment.   19:35   Harriet: What is the most standout story of transformation that you’ve seen?   Ben: This is one of my personal clients when I was working in Berlin as a personal trailer. She was an overweight, low-energy, 25-year-old girl. We’ve worked together and she’s made such transformation that she became radiant. She had love for movement, where before she hated it. To go through this experience with her was magnificent. Really, you can see, in a short time, the power of transformation.   Harriet: It’s always beautiful when women can step into a place of confidence and radiance.   20:27   Harriet: What piece of technological equipment/app/book/training/tool that you feel you simply can’t live without?   Ben: I would say a place to hang. Like a pull-up bar or a tree branch. You need to hang from something. This is part of nature. We kind of evolved from animals that were always hanging.   Ben: When I cannot hang, something’s missing.   21:10   Harriet: What is your Number One Most Effective thing that you do on a daily basis?   Ben: Two things; my morning meditation, in which I combine my exercise funneled by mindfulness practice. The other thing is – you know, they say there’s two shortcuts to happiness: singing and dancing. I do my daily singing. I love to dance to reggae music. Those are the things that make me feel alive.   Ben: You’ve got to do something that makes you feel good. That’s what it is for me.   22:16   Harriet: Who do you recommend that we should have on this podcast?   Ben: There’s a lady I’m following these days; ?Dr. Robynne Chutkan. Her motto is “Eat Clean, Live Dirty.” She’s bringing back the importance of getting dirty, which means to get in touch with the bacteria around us. Desterilize yourself, go out into nature, and you don’t have to wash your hands ten times a day.   23:40   Harriet: Ben, you’ve been absolutely brilliant. I’ve got so many notes. It is truly brilliant to find someone who has gone from being successful soccer player to overcoming challenges to now running amazing retreats. You literally are the epitome of a Wellness World Traveller.   Harriet: There’s going to be some people, I’m sure, that want to know more about you. They’re going to want to watch some of your yoga videos, some of your morning meditations. I know that you have some free videos on your community that they would probably love to go and see.   Harriet: Where would be the best place to find those videos?   Ben: You can check those out at http://www.zendess.com/.There’s some self-made videos with daily practices from high-intensity interval training to morning yoga to evening guided relaxations. So you can check that out on Zendess You can contact me from there. Also on Facebook, the page Zendess.   24:30   Harriet: Is there any last piece of advice you would love to leave with the listeners today?   Ben: Just trust yourself. Listen to yourself. Don’t rush through your health journey. Don’t get stuck in the details. Go back to the basics; eat real food. Bring awareness to your body and mind. Connect with nature.   Harriet: Thank you so much for being on the show today, Ben. I totally appreciate you.

Alexis Wolfer/ The Recipe for Radiance: Treating Yourself Like Your Bestfriend

Welcome to today’s podcast. Today, we have someone truly brilliant who I’m really, really excited to introduce to you. Alexis Wolfer has been doing some amazing things in an amazing space with some humans who really need it; young girls who are influenced so much by what they see on television, technology, and what their friends are saying to them. She has been studying some amazing stuff. She’s got a Masters in Women Studies and Human Rights. She’s been on television. She’s written two books herself and she’s not consulting small business.   Episode Transcript: 0:33 Harriet: Alexis, welcome to the show. I would love for you to tell the listeners a little bit about yourself, a little bit about what you’re doing right now. Alexis: Thank you so much! I feel like that was a really good intro, but – yes, I have my Masters in Human Rights and Women Studies from Columbia University in New York. I was working in Women’s Fashion Editorial, and I felt like there had to be a better way for us to do women’s lifestyle content in a way that was designed to make women feel better about themselves – instead of making women feel like they were inadequate in order to try to sell them things. Alexis: So I launched the BeautyBean.com in 2009 with that goal in mind. We cover everything that women’s magazines – health, fitness, nutrition, beauty, skincare, makeup – but all very subtly designed to make women – and girls! – feel more empowered and better about themselves. Alexis: I’ve also written two books. The first is a beauty cookbook called “The Recipe for Radiance” and the second is a bridal beauty book that’s kind of everything a girl needs to get from engagement to honeymoon – looking and feeling her best without going crazy. No crash diets or bridezillas. And then I consult with some early-stage startups, and I appear on television talking about beauty and health and wellness. Harriet: Wow. 02:13 Harriet: Us women, we absolutely do everything. I’m sure all the women listeners are listening right now and thinking; “well, yep! We all do a hundred million things at a hundred miles an hour.” Harriet: Alexis, would you please share with the listeners a little about what you’re focus is right now? Who and how do you help the people who are in your target market? Alexis: I’ve got a couple of focuses right now. My Bridal Beauty Book just came out a couple months ago, so I’m still focused on promoting that. It’s called ‘Radiant Bride’ and I’m trying to work with as many brides and newly engaged women as possible to really help them navigate the ‘wedding planning space’ in a healthy, holistic fashion. I’m also looking to continue to expand my reach to younger girls. Alexis: When I launched the Beauty Bean, the goal was really to reach girls 13 to 22, but our target market has actually been 22 and up. So, [I’m] continuing to try and reach younger girls because they’re so impressionable, and I really think that there’s a space we need to create to provide young girls with lifestyle content that’s positive and empowering and has a really profound positive impact in their lives. Harriet: I love what you’re doing for that specific age bracket. Is it something that you were looking for, when you were that age? Something to look for that wasn’t like everything else out there? Alexis: Yeah. You know, I had an eating disorder when I was in college and I just think that talking to women when they’re in college or out of college about positive body image is almost a little ‘too little, too late.’ That’s not to say that it doesn’t have its place; I’ve certainly transformed my relationship with my body and wellness and that of lots of other women as well, but I think that to really have a profound impact – and to prevent a lot of the self-destructive behaviors that we see in younger girls – we really need to be talking to them at a much younger age. Harriet: Absolutely. I think it’s a profound message that really needs to be spread, and it needs kind of go viral! And I hear that you’re great at that, we’re going to talk about that a little later – which is cool. 04:25 Harriet: Let’s talk a little bit more about you and your past, and what’s really helped you to get to where you are right now. Obviously, one of the messages that I believe is Alexis’s most important for all listeners is that anyone can achieve a fantastic, amazing, abundant level of health. But what would you say [are] your three greatest Healthy Living lessons that you can share today? Alexis: I really think that, for a lot of women, we really need to get out of this space of worrying about how much we weight – and we really need to stop weighing ourselves. So, a scale does nothing more than measure your gravitational pull towards the earth; it does not measure your health or your happiness or even your attractiveness or your body’s ability to do anything. So I really think that stopping to weigh ourselves is extraordinarily important. Alexis: I think that, for most women, we’re really good at being kind to others. I always say to women that I work with; “treat yourself like you’re your own best friend.” And if you wouldn’t say something to your best friend about – you know, we all have this experience of looking into the mirror and [starting] this negative self-talk. But if you wouldn’t say those things to your best, you shouldn’t be saying them to yourself. Harriet: That is probably the best way I’ve ever heard someone explain weighing yourself. Can you repeat that again because that was the most brilliant well-articulated way I’ve ever heard it. Alexis: Thanks! I spent a lot of time thinking about. I, in my past, have had such an obsession with how much I weighed. I would weigh myself in the morning and it would determine how I felt about myself, my body, my life, my relationships, my attractiveness – everything was determined by this number. Alexis: It wasn’t until I really got my head around the fact that that scale doesn’t measure anything except for my gravitational pull. It doesn’t measure my health, it doesn’t measure my happiness – it doesn’t even measure what my body looks like. It doesn’t measure anything of value. So we really need to throw away the scales and stop worrying about that, and really just put the focus back on how feel. Harriet: That’s truly brilliant. So listeners, just to reiterate, your weight is literally your gravitational pull. I love that – about being kind to yourself. We have this inside shadow that’s always going on. When it’s more positive, when it’s more happy towards yourself, you’re just a mirror to the universe. I think that’s truly brilliant. Alexis: Yeah, I agree! And you know, I think it’s really easy to listen to “experts” – myself included – and think that they have the answers. I just want to put out there that one of the biggest lessons here is that we are all teaching what we’re trying to learn ourselves. This isn’t me sitting here, telling you that I’ve got it all figured out. What I do have figured out is that it takes a lot of work. It is a constant practice in my day-to-day life. Harriet: Absolutely. Listeners, it should be a constant practice in your day-to-day life. The more that you’re loving yourself, the more love you have to give to every single human being around you. 07:49 Harriet: Obviously, you’ve turned yourself around since that person you were in college – having eating disorders and a really distorted body image and body-self-love paradigm. The listeners always want to hear what tool they can use to make action now. What was it for you that really hit the nail on the head and helped you turn it all around? Alexis: For me, when I stopped weighing myself and I stopped worrying about what size dress or pants I was wearing, I was able to focus more on how food made me feel, and less about how many calories or fat grams were in food – which is completely ludicrous; it’s a ridiculous way to go about life. I think that, for a lot of women, a really powerful way to do that is by keeping a journal. For a lot of us who had come out of eating disorders, we had kept food journals for all the wrong reasons. Alexis: What I’m talking about is writing down what you’re eating and what you’re doing and your thoughts, and how you feel. Because when you start to connect what you’re putting in to your body with how it interacts in your body, you start to make different choices. For me, eating grains makes me tired. It takes a lot out of my body to digest them. It doesn’t mean that I don’t eat grains. It just means that – on a Monday morning, at 8 AM, when I’ve got a crazy busy day ahead of me, I’m not going to have a bowl of oatmeal. Alexis: I’m going to think more about how the food that I’m eating is affecting my energy levels, and how sharp I feel, and how my skin looks. All these things that are so much more important than the measure of your gravitational pull. Harriet: That’s brilliant. Just to recap on that – the number one thing that Alexis recommends right now is for you to keep a journal – in a powerful way, focusing on 4 different areas. Doing – what are doing with your body? Eating – what are you eating? Thoughts Feelings – how do you feel? 10:22 Harriet: That’s an amazing little system; I hope that that’s in your book. Alexis: Yeah, it is! And I would also write down how much water you’re drinking, because I know for a lot of people, they’re dehydrated. You think that you’re either hungry or sad or don’t have energy – but it’s really because you’re not drinking enough water. Harriet: Very true. 10:44 Harriet: Before we go into our Time Travel Moment, Alexis and I were chatting a few days ago, and we were talking about an amazing vital piece of information that she put out there, and I would love, Alexis, for you to show exactly what you did and why it was so powerful for women today. Alexis: Sure! So about six years ago, I started something called Makeup-Free Mondays, which started with me taking a picture of me in my bathroom [and] not wearing any makeup. This was at a point where The Beauty Bean had been live for a little less than a year. As a “beauty expert,” there was this really contrived idea of beauty – and what I looked like. I was like; “That’s the image [of me] that people see on my website. That’s not what I look like when I first wake up in the morning!” Alexis: Having this conversation with women, I was starting to realize how many of us woke up in the morning and we looked in the mirror, and we said; “oh, this doesn’t look like me because I’m not wearing mascara.” Or lipstick. Or blush. Or foundation. Or whatever is the thing that we each have. So what does it look like for us to get back to a place where we can appreciate our beauty in any way, shape, or form? Alexis: So I started this movement called Makeup-Free Mondays, where we encourage women not to wear makeup on Mondays. You can do this once or you can do this every Monday. The idea is to put the focus back on the things that really make you beautiful. We started this and had celebrities and TV anchors and women around the world were sending in their pictures! The host of The Today Show actually went makeup-free on a Monday. It’s a really profound viral movement, so I encourage everybody to see how you feel, and – more than that – to see how other people respond to you. The feedback that I’ve gotten the most from people who have tried Makeup-Free Mondays is that they didn’t realize how much other people didn’t notice that they were wearing makeup. Harriet: Awesome! Did anyone report back feeling more … health benefits? Feeling like they had better skin from doing the Makeup-Free Mondays? Alexis: Yeah! We have a whole column on The Beauty Bean called “Makeup-Free Mondays” that you can click on, and you can read a bunch of accounts from beauty bloggers and experts and celebrities and models who have all written in about their experiences going makeup-free for the day. Alexis: And the Makeup-Free Mondays also has a charitable component. We encourage women to donate unused, unopened, and unexpired cosmetics and skincare to women in need to provide empowerment. The Beauty Bean has donated hundreds of thousands of items. Harriet: Wow – that is cool. There’s always someone who is more in need, who can use it more than you can. Alexis: Exactly. Harriet: When you appreciate your true beauty, it’s so much easier to see the true beauty all around you. 14:24 Harriet: Let’s head into the Time Travel Moment. Alexis; if you could go back twenty years ago – or to some sort of period of time to where you might have been able to talk to your old self – and give yourself a piece of advice, what would that be for you? Alexis: I’m sure this is a little bit cliché, but something along the lines of; “you are perfect, just as you are.” But I feel like I spent so much of my young teen years trying to adhere to this notion of what it meant to be perfect. And, for me, that presented in trying to look a certain way, weigh a certain amount, have perfect grades, and be involved in all these activities. It was an authentic experience because it was my past, but I wish that I had known at a younger age that nobody else really cared about what I was doing and where I was at. Alexis: I didn’t need to do all these other things to please all these other people. Harriet: Do you feel like – when you were experiencing that – do you feel like it held you back in any way at all? Alexis: Yeah! I felt like I had a profound fear of failure that prevented me from trying things, because I was so scared of not being perfect at it that I didn’t even give it a shot. At this point in my life, I don’t care at all what people think! I do care that people think that I’m kind and generous, but that’s very different from caring about what people think about what I look like. Harriet: That’s amazing. Anyone who’s listening to this podcast right now who have children who are in the very impressionable age, which is from 0 to always – an important message to send to them is, literally; “you are perfect just the way you are.” Harriet: And it’s okay to want to be better, as long as you are happy with where you’re at. Alexis: Yeah, absolutely. 16:22 Alexis: And I think a lot of parents don’t realize that it’s not just about what you tell your kids. It’s also about how you treat yourself – because your kids observe that. They can see it. My parents are fabulous, and they told me my whole life that I was perfect just the way I was. But I grew up in a house where my mom was always on a diet. She would weigh herself every morning. She was always dressed perfectly and looked perfect. Alexis: So even though she was telling me these thing that she knew she wanted her empowered daughter to hear, that wasn’t what I was seeing. Harriet: I agree. One of the quotes that springs to mind is; communication equals response. Thank you so much for sharing that – revealing a part of yourself that you probably don’t tell everyone about. Appreciate that. Alexis: Yeah. I don’t even know if I’ve ever said that publicly. Harriet: Mum, if you’re listening right now, you’re awesome! [laughs] 17:41 Harriet: Alright, let’s get this thing wrapped up! So, the Naked Health Warrior’s Podcast is all about stripping back bare to the real essentials that make our health work. So real health, I believe, is different for everyone. There are no two people – even identical twins – who are absolutely, hundred percent the same on the planet. So I’d love for you to share what you believe “Real Health” is for you. Alexis: So, for me, Real Health is being able to do what I want with my body in a healthy fashion. I was in a really bad horseback riding accident about three years ago. In the midst of my career, I was in a wheelchair for a period of time. I had to relearn how to walk. I had fractured my spine and my pelvis in a few places and tore all the muscles in my left leg. And so, for me, there was this profound realization of the power of focusing on what my body can do, and not just what it looks like. Alexis: I have a really great relationship with my body these days where I have gotten a lot better at listening to what it needs and what it wants and responding to that. Being able to exercise because I am so damn grateful that I am able to do it, not because I feel like I have to. Harriet: That is amazing! Every single person has a different answer, but you’re the very first person who has mentioned that – you know – the focus is in a different area. It’s literally on what it [your body] can do. Not what you’re putting in it, not anything like that. That is cool. Alexis: Yeah! I hear so many people complain about not liking exercise, and I just think in my head; I am so grateful that I am able to move my legs and I am able to get around. I am in a position where I can sit in a spin class and I have the financial resources and the flexibility in my schedule to be able to go to that class. And I have a body that can actually get me through it. Alexis: I think when you start to change that framework, you have a totally different appreciation for your body. Harriet: That’s pretty cool. 19:51 Harriet: What would you say matters most to you about your personal health? Alexis: Just continuing to learn. My entire life, I’ve been into health and wellness. It’s just what that means has really changed. And so I hope to continue to learn and to grow. To continue to communicate with my body in a way that provides me with feedback so that I’m able to constantly tweak what I’m doing in order to live my healthiest, happiest life. And I know that that might change seasonally, it might change over time, regarding my age. Just kind of being in tune with that [change] I think is really profound. Harriet: That’s a really good point. 20:41 Harriet: What is one Healthy Living Golden Nugget that you believe every single woman – every single listener right now – should really live be? Alexis: Listen to yourself and not anybody else. I think it’s really important that you absorb information from other people. It is impossible for any of us to be experts in anything. But trust your gut and make those choices that are best for you. Nobody has the answer for you other than you. Harriet: Absolutely love one specific thing that you highlighted there. I’ve been reading a book called “The Healthy Gut” – or something along those lines – by a brilliant woman who’s also a doctor. One of the very first things that she said is that there is more neurological receptors in your gut than in your brain. Alexis: Ooh! Harriet: I was absolutely blown away, right? Alexis: I heard Mark Hyman speak a couple of months ago, and he said that ‘food isn’t just calories and energy; it’s also information.’ And that really stuck with me, because it’s not just a matter of how your body takes the food and converts it into energy. It’s also about what is this food telling your body, and how is your body responding to that? Not just in your gut, but also in regards to your brain and how sharp you are, and your skin, and all of these other factors. 23:37 Harriet: That was brilliant. Let’s head into the QuickFire Questions round and gain some clarity. Harriet: The very first thing that I would love for you to share is; what is the most standout story of transformation that you’ve seen or experienced in this industry? Alexis: I have seen a lot of women that I have either worked with directly or have responded to my content via The Beauty Bean or my books. [They] have come up to me and told me about their transformation from being so focused on how many calories was in something to – they felt like crap, they didn’t have any energy. By the time I was talking to them, they were vibrant, and they were beautiful. I have seen that same situation play out hundreds of times over the course of my career. Alexis: I just want everybody to know; this stuff works. Getting down to what makes you healthy and happy really does make you beautiful. 25:23 Harriet: Can you share one of your personal habits that you strongly believe contributes to your personal successful health? Alexis: Not weighing myself is really important – although I know I’ve kind of hammered that in a lot during this interview. Drinking a lot of water really works wonders for me; I notice a change in my energy levels. And being active. For me, if a day doesn’t start without a workout, I’m not nearly as good of a human as I would like to be. Harriet: I love it. Workout, not weighing, and water equals good human. Alexis: Yeah. 26:05 Harriet: What is one technological piece of equipment or app or book or training or any kind of tool that you or your body cannot live without? Alexis: I have three, and I’m going to give them as quickly as possible. First is an app called TripIt and it organizes all of my travel plans. I don’t think I would ever know where I was or what airport I was supposed to go to if it weren’t for that. The second is my iPad. Reading books – especially books outside the health and wellness field – is really important to me. Third is a specific book; The Alchemist. I’m guessing that a lot of people that you’ve interviewed have mentioned this book because it’s so profound – particularly for anybody on a personal journey – Harriet: -- because it’s truly amazing, absolutely. Alexis: Yeah! It’s so amazing, and it’s just such an important life lesson. Every time I read it, it hits me on the head. I reread that book almost every year. 27:13 Harriet: What is one of your kind weird but effective things that you do? Alexis: I’m super obsessed with the pH of water – in a way that people totally think I’m out of my mind – but I have been known to call water boards in cities that I’m currently in. I also buy really high pH Alkaline water whenever I’m in a grocery store. I find a huge difference between drinking water that’s slightly more acidic versus water that’s much more alkaline. 27:48 Harriet: What book or resource would you recommend to people who want to improve their health today? Alexis: The Beauty Bean.com I think is a really great place for you to go! It’s kind of everything that you need for health, beauty, wellness, inside and out, but it’s all done in really tangible, easy-to-digest pieces of content, so it’s not too much to tackle. I’ve also been really enjoying Robyn Youkilis’s book Go With Your Gut, which just came out. 28:19 Harriet: Who is your hero? Alexis: I thought this was a public one [hero], and I was going to say Cecil Richards – who’s the president of Planned Parenthood – because she so profoundly fights for women’s healthcare. But on the more private level, I would say my grandfather. He passed away when I was in college, but he was consistently a really powerful impact in my life. 28:41 Harriet: What do you believe the health industry is really missing right now? What does the world need most to really jump out of this current paradigm? Alexis: I think we really need medium-sized healthy role models. I think that we have a lot of really skinny, healthy – some healthy, some less healthy – models, wellness practitioners, etc.? And then we’ve got this really large plus-size movement. But there’s not a lot of attention being focused on the “medium-sized” girls. I’m talking about girls that range from sizes, like, 4 to 12 – which is a vast majority of the healthy US population. We just don’t see enough of them in the media. 29:32 Harriet: Last but not least, who do you recommend we feature on this podcast? Alexis: I guess I’m going to say Robyn Youkillis, because I’m really enjoying her book right now and because she’s awesome. 30:21 Harriet: Brilliant. Alexis, you’ve been amazing. I have so many notes, and I am so grateful. I hope anyone who’s listening to this has also done the same; has also taken notes on some of these gems. Alexis, there’s probably going to be a few people interested in a) reading your book, and b) visiting some of your sites. I know that you’ve got literally so many free little articles and tips on your website. Can you let the listeners know where they can go and find those. Alexis: http://thebeautybean.com/ is full of all-free content that’s really just designed to help you live your healthiest, happiest, most beautiful life, so definitely go there. Both of my books are available on Amazon or in bookstores, wherever you may be. The first one’s called The Recipe for Radiance; Discover Beauty’s Best-Kept Secrets in Your Kitchen. The second is called Radiant Bride. You can find both of those, and you can find me at pretty much any social media platform, @AlexisWolfer. Harriet: Alexis, you’ve been a star. Before I sign off, if there’s any last piece of advice or anything that you’d love to share with the listeners, I’d love for you to take the air and go for it. Alexis: I just want everybody to know that you are your own best advocate, and that you are best at figuring out what’s right for you. Take everything that you hear with a grain of salt, and take what works for you. Leave the rest, and you’ll be well on your way to being your healthiest, happiest self.

Claudia Conaglen/ "Your Past Doesn’t Necessarily Have to Equal Your Future"

Fashion designer, model and globetrotter, Claudia Conaglen spends her time between Bali and Hawaii. A previous participant on Bachelor; New Zealand, you can follow her on her adventures through her blog and official website: http://www.claudiaconaglen.com/     1:10 – Claudia gives the audience a quick summary of what she’s currently up to. Having lived in Bali for the past 8 years, she’s recently moved back to New Zealand. A woman of many talents and hobbies, Claudia’s done fashion design, surfing, and a good range of outdoor sports, and has been featured on Bachelor; New Zealand. One of her personal favorites is writing blogs about health and fitness. She also sells protein products and enjoys educating people about health and business.   2:10 – The most exciting thing happening to her right now is creating an eBook full of healthy recipes and fitness workouts. She also includes key tips on how to think positive – for everyone.     2:42 “If you have a healthy mind, it creates a healthy lifestyle.”   3:05 – Claudia shares with the listeners her story to “help outline the fact,” as Harriet puts it, “that your past doesn’t necessarily have to equal your future.” Growing up, Claudia was the exact opposite of a health food advocate. She would eat junk food, chips, junk, and whatever else was onhand. “Thank God for my genes as I was never overweight,” she says, mentioning her mum as a huge influencing factor over her weight as well. “The one thing my mum always did was get us to dance, play lots of sports,” As she got older, she drank and partied a lot – definitely not something conducive to her health and wellbeing. She gained a lot of weight, which affected her work as a model. At the age of 22, she moved to Bali where she got really skinny because of the heat and swimming.   04:00 – When she was there, she encountered another set of problems. She ate a lot of Indonesian food there, as it was cheap and delicious. She was unknowingly consuming copious amounts of MSG (monosodium glutamate), and that eventually broke down her immune system. Shortly after, she also found out that she was allergic to 35 different things, including eggs and chicken.   4:56 – Harriet asks Claudia to give a bit more detail on the 35 different foods she grew allergic to. “There’s so many people that have no idea that these things are even affecting them,” Harriet points out. “How did it show up for you? I mean, you say you’re allergic to 35 different things. Did it come on like – was there headaches? Were you feeling sick? Lethargic? What were the symptoms for you?”   05:08 – In 2009, Claudia’s friends came to Bali. Two of them had special food intolerances. “I didn’t even know what that meant,” Claudia admits. “I thought it was just some ‘fitness fad.’” A month later, she was eating her regular chicken, rice, and samba (sweet chili sauce) when it happened. “My lips swelled up, and my tongue swelled up, and I’d gone into anaphylactic shock three times – where the back of my throat swells up and I can’t breathe? I’d get hives all over my legs and rashes. So, yeah. It’s quite dangerous actually. It’s not tolerance. It’s an allergy for me.”   6:10 – Harriet asks Claudia to share some of her more grueling health challenges. She lists her allergies as the number one contender, with her finding out she had polycystic ovarian syndrome at the age of 26 as a close second. Learning that she might not be able to have kids terrified her. She went off the pill and gained a lot of weight (again, affecting her modelling career).   7:06 – “Are you an advocate for polycystic ovarian syndrome? Do you spread your message about health for other women with those [same] problems at all?”   7:15 – “I haven’t started it,” Claudia says, in response to the question above. “Because I only found out a couple of years ago. I don’t really know too much about it. I’ve just been researching more for myself. I haven’t really spread the message about that yet.”   8:30 – “What would you say are your 3 Greatest Healthy Living Lessons that you would love to pass along and pass over to our listeners?”   Your Health is Your Wealth – “because if you’re not healthy,” Claudia points out, “how can you work, you know?”   Eat good healthy quality food. It is important to spend what you can on buying good quality food. Spending a little extra to make sure your food is all organic is all worth it for your health.   It is important to eat a lot of food that has alkaline. Alkaline gives you more energy, whereas acidic food – like coffee or meat – can actually drain you.     10: 39 – “Do you have any models that you love to live by in your life? For example, a piece of advice that was handed down to you from a mentor or something that you just simply believe leads people to having more optimum levels of health?”   10:56 – Claudia’s number one belief is this; your health is your greatest asset. “Without your health,” Claudia explains, “you can’t really do much. I like to be happy,” she adds. “And when I’m healthy, I’m very happy.”   11:19 – Regarding health, how does Claudia maintain it? She shares her best advice for people to help them stay on their journey to health and wellness. “It’s different for everyone,” she says. “I have a fast metabolism, so I eat 6-8 times a day.” She eats small, frequent meals throughout the day, on top of regular exercise.   12:25 – The Time Travel Moment; if Claudia were to go back ten, fifteen years, and she met her younger self on the street, what would she tell her younger self? The first thing she mentions is to definitely eat more fruits and vegetables. She also admits that she would tell herself to not compare herself to others. “I remember being ten,” Claudia shares, “and I wanted to have white skin.” As she grew older, she learned to love her skin color. “Learn to love yourself, not compare yourself to others.”   14:03 – Has there ever been a time in Claudia’s life where she remembers being a “slave” to the feeling of wanting something someone else had? Claudia recounts how her mother always encouraged her to enter beauty pageants as a kid. While she doesn’t think that competing against other women in terms of looks was a good thing, she admits that it really helped her confidence and public-speaking skills. “It’s all about what looks good for you.”     15:15 – “It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, you should love yourself for who you are.”   15:25 – Touching up on her past experience on The Bachelor; New Zealand, Claudia agrees that entering beauty pageants and growing her confidence made it easy for her to join the show. Being in front of the camera didn’t make her feel too awkward or uncomfortable. Perhaps the hardest part in general was living with 23 other girls under one roof. Her greatest takeaway from being on the show was to cherish time spent alone. “I think it’s always important to have time alone in a situation like that, where you don’t always have to be mixing and mingling with everyone.” She says. Spending time by yourself makes it possible for you to reflect on your actions and recount what you’re grateful for.   19:05 – Harriet takes a moment to talk about giving to others. “If you want to be able to give to others, you need to have an overflowing cup. … If you’re not a full person yourself, how can you ever be a person who gives to others?” Harriet says. “You need to learn to love yourself,” Claudia agrees. Give yourself that time to eat healthy, do yoga, do your daily things, and then you can be happy and ready to help other people.   20:28 – So what is real health for Claudia? It’s not only to have a healthy body, she says, but also to have a healthy mind. “To think clear, happy thoughts and to be positive.” The equation for it is 80% diet and 20% exercise.   21:57 – What would she say is one “healthy living golden nugget” to live by? Claudia is a big believer in living an alkalized lifestyle. She believes food is a big factor to society’s health, and people don’t seem to realize that there’s a lot of acidity in food. Eventually, that acid will deteriorate our bodies.   23:35 – Start of the QuickFire Clarity Round: what’s the best advice from your industry you have ever received? 23:49 – Can you share one of your personal habits that contributes to your successful health?   24:05 – What is one technological equipment tool that you can’t live without?   24:46 – Who is your hero?   25:02 – What is your favourite movie?   25:11 –What’s your favourite fruit?   25:23 – What’s your favorite drink?   25:28 – What do you think the health industry is missing right now?   26:23 – Who do you believe would be 3 brilliant people that we would love to get on the podcast? Jade Mckinnon, Paul Isham, Maz from The Bachelor and Jaime Desh   27:35 – Is there any message you would love to share to the listeners? “Your health is your wealth.”   Want to contact Claudia? Jenna Phillips Ballard/ Understanding the Power of "I Am"

Total Wellness Philosopher Jenna Phillips Ballard is a woman of many talents. Today, she guest stars on the Naked Health Warriors to talk about motivation, being a world-changer, and falling in love with yourself.   1:16 – Jenna tells us a little more about herself; what she does, where she is, her vision and mission for herself.   Jenna shares that she is on “a mission to motivate and inspire people to fall in love with themselves,” and rewrite the story of their lives. “Anything’s possible,” she says, right off the bat. “We can overcome anything.” She says this out of pure personal experience. “I’ve overcome a lot in my life.”   2:15 – So, exactly what is Jenna doing now? What is the most exciting thing that is going on for her in her health and wellness industry business right now?   Having started as a personal trainer at the age of 23, Jenna has been in the industry for 10 years now. Her very first client was Ben Stiller, and she describes the experience as quite the journey. Back then, it was all about fitness for her. However, it wasn’t long before she realized that she was more than a personal trainer. “I really expanded my profession,” Jenna admits. “So I was like; I think I’m going to call myself a Total Wellness Philosopher.” She describes herself now as more of a life trainer to my clients. She guides people along a happy relationship and discover who they’re meant to be and how to get their message out to the world.   4:02 – We all have this rise to success. What is Jenna’s story? What encouraged her to become a personal trainer?   “I would say that my mission – or my journey – began when I was 17 years old. At that time I was a senior in high school.” At that time, Jenna recounts that she was experiencing a lot of depression. She admits that she didn’t understand the connection between how we treat our bodies and how we ultimately feel. Jenna, like many others, didn’t understand what her purpose in life was.   4:49 – “I knew that I was supposed to be a leader of some kind, but I had no clue what I was supposed to be a leader of.” Shortly after, Jenna recounts the horrible head trauma accident that put her in a coma. After falling 14 feet out of a barn, the doctors believed that she would never wake up, and even told her parents as much.   “I wound up waking up the next day,” she says. “And that was a total miracle.” But the accident had left its mark. “I had no short-term memory. I lost the majority of my vocabulary, so I had to basically relearn how to read and write and communicate – put my thoughts into words.”   5:46 – She describes it as a very “humbling experience,” simply because; “At one point, those were my strengths. So then they became my weaknesses.” On top of all that, she was also soon diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. “So, not only did I have to relearn how to be a human,” she says. “I also had to learn what it meant to be diabetic.”   6:14 – “I got very clear, very quickly, that how we treat our bodies ultimately dictates the direction of our life.” Jenna shares how she initially began this mission to be as health as possible and to guide her life in the right direction. However, she soon realized that it was bigger than what she’d originally planned. “It wasn’t just about me.”   7:30 – Harriet encourages Jenna to share some of her epiphanies in terms of challenges. What was the hardest, most grueling health challenge Jenna has ever faced, up until now?   The most challenging experience Jenna’s had with her health would be her blood sugar imbalance and the transitioning she had to do to a certain different lifestyle. She admits that she’s never understood her habits. It wasn’t until she decided to stop listening to her doctor and start listening to her body did she achieve the balance her body needed.   10:12 – What are the Top 3 Health Living Lessons she gained from this experience?   Eat Real Food as often as possible. Allow yourself to splurge every once in a while. “I don’t believe eating clean a hundred percent of the time is healthy, because we have to … allow ourselves to … enjoy what life has to offer!” When we splurge, it doesn’t have to be incredibly unhealthy.   “So it really is just like finding that balance. I mean, balance is – for me – the most important thing,” Jenna says on the subject. “To really feel like I’m not being deprived.” She mentions how she views thoughts as very powerful, capable of creating our own fear – if we let them.   12:18 – Bouncing off the #3 tip, what is Jenna’s idea of a splurge?   “My biggest splurge is the most ridiculous chunk – like a tub – of Frozen Yoghurt with, like, everything you can imagine.”   13:50 – What would Jenna’s 3 Greatest Life Lessons be?   Understanding the power of “I Am” – this is one of Jenna’s most pivotal moments in her life. “When we actually make up our minds about something, stuff can actually happen.” The power of the statement “I Am” is the power of our intention. The power of our mind. Whatever you say after that statement is going to be true. Put Yourself First – Jenna remembers going through this phase where she wanted to please everybody, and it just absolutely drained her. “I was living my life at a much lower level,” she says. True Love Does Exist – “True, magical, fairytale love is available for anyone.” She recounts being on this mission to find her “perfect man,” and in doing so she lost the opportunity for a true man to find her. It wasn’t until she shifted her energy from “I will find him” to “I will receive him; he will find me” did she meet the love of her life.     19:10 – If you could go back 20 years in time, what would you tell your old self?   “20 years ago, I was 13,” Jenna says, “And that was a really, really tough time for me because I changed schools.” She had difficulty adjusting, was bullied, teased, and rejected. She never felt accepted.   “I wasn’t cool enough, I wasn’t pretty enough, I wasn’t fill-in-the-blank enough.” She remembers repeating this mantra to herself, and she remembers how limiting it felt.   20:20 – “Leaders are not meant to blend with the masses. There’s a reason why you stick out.” By trying to fit in, we lose our authentic selves.   21:56 - What does Real Health mean for Jenna, and why is it important?   Real Health is balance. Health and wellness is whatever is sustainable. Anything that we believe will happen with what we eat will actually happen and materialize in our bodies.   25:24 – What does Jenna believe is going to be the sole key things that will aid in shifting the paradigm and allowing our future generation to have a higher quality level of health in their lives?   Her answer is surprisingly simple: Shopping locally. It’s all about shifting our priorities, and she believes it’s our moral responsibility to support local farmers and business.   25:54 - “We make time for what’s important to us.”   28:41 – Start of the QuickFire Questions:   28:48 – What is the #1 super weird thing Jenna does when it comes to her diet?   29:36 – What is Jenna’s Number One favorite juice currently?   29:54 – What is the best advice Jenna’s ever received?   30:00 – What is your go-to thing that you can’t live without?   30:20 – Who is your hero?   30:25 – What do you believe is the health industry missing right now?   31:10 – Who would you recommend to be on this podcast?   31:35 – Do you have any last words before we end the show?   “Love all that is you. Every piece of you. Every quirk, every challenge, everything that you’ve experienced throughout the day – even your negative thoughts – love them, because it’s the contrast that gets us really clear on what we truly want.”   --   If you’re ready to fall in love with yourself, or you just want to connect with Jenna, check out her official website at http://www.jennaphillipsballard.com/

Michelle Slayter/ On "Zero Waste Policy"

00:35 – Introducing today’s very special guest, Michelle Slayter – a woman on an absolute mission. Despite having numerous talents and acclaims under her belt – coach, speaker, author – she shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, throughout the episode, she discusses some of her amazing products, upcoming projects, retreats, and her latest program; Send Fiji Love. 01:32 – Diving right in, Michelle tells us a little more about herself; who she is, what she does, and her current driving force. She describes herself as a “bridge” between the business world and the spiritual world. She works with conscious entrepreneurs on building businesses that make a difference in the world. “We’re not just about profits,” she says. “We’re also about people and community.” She also runs online programs and hosts retreats on the side. 02:34 – Her current project at the moment is building an Eco-Retreat Center in Fiji (where she’s calling from) and an organic farm. Next month, she plans to open another retreat center in Talbert. 03:11 – So what is Michelle most excited about in her current business? Part of supporting other people, Michelle says, is being an example of what you share. Having gone through her fair share of struggles and challenges, Michelle is happy to say that she wakes up every day feeling blessed and thoroughly fortunate. “My life is freakin’ awesome!” She jokingly says. 03:46 – She is a big believer in the saying; “Stand guard the doorway of your mind,” because what goes in, goes out. 04:01 – Michelle shares a bit more about her two current projects that she’s most excited about; her retreat center and organic farm in Fiji. Over the span of two years, she’s gathered information, drafted plans, and culled together resources for her Fiji retreat center. Finally being able to implement them and get things rolling has given her that feeling of fulfilment like no other. Her “zero waste” policy for her venture that can also create job opportunities for people capable of recycling or reusing waste. All 300 acres of her land have been certified organic by the international standard. 06:26 – Her “zero waste” policy stemmed from two things. First, her own passion for Mother Earth and her desire to simply keep it clean. “I mean, the earth’s going to be fine no matter what humans do,” she clarifies. “It’s actually the existence of the human race that I’m more concerned about. We’re the only species that’s actively contributing to our own extinction.” 07:47 – She was introduced to a lady named Anne-Maree, the founder of MOSS (Models of Success and Sustainability). Anne-Maree’s company works closely with an organization called Blue Economy Technology – an organization that is, as she believes, the next step up in the ecoworld. Blue Economy implements Green Economy in a process called “upcycling” to create jobs and businesses from waste product. In turn, Michelle introduced Anne-Maree to her Fiji project, and the zero-waste policy started from there. Michelle’s 300 acre lot is now the test field for the rest of the world in terms of how they could live – sustainable, organic, and waste-free. 09:58 – Michelle shares her story; where she came from and what she went through to be where she is today. Growing up in New Zealand, she had always dreamed of being a famous fashion designer. Before she moved to Australia, she had her own fashion brand for about eight years, complete with three signature stores throughout the country. “I worked really hard,” she says, “and it feels like a whole different world away from what I’m doing now.” 11:11 – “I got to a point where I was just … you know, you’ve got to love what you do,” Michelle says. “And especially when you’re working so hard – you just – your work is your life. You get up every day and that’s what you do. And I got to a point … where I was like; this is not lighting me up anymore. And I never thought that I would think like that!” 13:08 – “I think the best work that you can do is the work that you do on yourself.” 13:45 – She reveals that she’s always sort of had an affinity with Fiji. Growing up, her family would always go there for holidays. She even lived on her parents’ boat there for about six months. “It’s got a little piece of my heart, this country.” 14:37 – “The project that I’m building here, it’s not about me. It’s not about just my visions and aspirations. This is a community project. This is like people coming together, with all of their skills, and shining.” After the cyclone hit Fiji, Michelle took it upon herself to start another project; https://gatherchange.com/sendfijilove/ 15:40 – “I think people want so much connection,” Michelle explains. “But they’re, at the same time, afraid of it. It’s really about getting off our phones and connecting with people.” 16:31 – Michelle has some advice for the woman who is sitting at home, following an old dream that has pretty much run its course, and is simply not feeling lit up. “I know that there are a lot of people out there that – you dread Monday morning, and you praise Friday. And you live for the weekend. I know from experience,” Michelle says, “and that’s not living.” It turns out the trick is simple; let go. “Whenever I try to control my life, I don’t know any better than the next person [about] what’s best for me. When I allow whatever to show up in my life – and stop being so rigid – that’s when the magic shows up. … It’s really freeing.” 19:28 – If you’re looking for your purpose and your passion, “it’s really quite simple,” Michelle says. “When you’re doing something that lights you up … when you’re doing something that makes you feel happy … that’s when you’re on the right path.” 23:06 – “You sort of need to live your life from the same point of looking back on it.” Michelle shares a personal story from her life, and how she developed this way of looking at things and living life. Losing her mother to cancer, and watching her mother battle the disease for sixteen years, were two things that really influenced her mindset. “Through her death, she showed me how to live.” 26:07 – Our host, Harriet Worth, shares a snippet from the book she’s written; “Sometimes you need to get away from everything that’s impacting your life to truly embrace who you are.” This is closely tied in to the retreats Michelle is so fond of hosting. Michelle shares with the audience the experiences and the takeaway one can expect when attending her retreats. 28:17 – “It’s not about applying a whole lot of things to your life that you’re never going to keep up. It’s about implementing small changes into your life and eventually, over a period of time, your life has changed in a big way. And it’s permanent.” 30:35 – Although promotion hasn’t officially started, Michelle shares some huge retreats and collaborations coming up; one with George Kavasilas that focuses on the masculine and feminine energies in both men and women, and how to strike a balance between both. She also has one coming up with Therese Kerr, the mother of supermodel Miranda Kerr and owner of the brand Divine. Their retreat will focus on what we put on our skin – beauty products, body treatments, and so on. She also has two retreats coming up with singer Toni Childs. 33:24 – For those listening who are looking for their purpose or passion, Michelle suggests focusing on your core values. Work out your three core values in life and go from there. For instance, Michelle’s highest value is supporting other people. 35:18 – On the subject of working with a team, Michelle admits that she started out as a jack-of-all-trades. Only after she got her first assistant did she realize that finding amazing people and placing them in the right areas was a much more effective strategy. “It sounds like you went [through] a transition, from I can do it all myself,” Harriet says, “and then you’ve come to a realization that’s; wait, hang on, as a team – as a collective – we can be, give, have, do, see, so much more.” 36:26 – On the subject of asking for help and support, Michelle has created a crowdfunding campaign to get more people involved and to help fasttrack her Fiji project. “The more I get into this project, the bigger I see it,” Michelle says. “This is not a small project, so I know I can’t do this alone.” If you’re interested in seeing how you can help, you can visit https://gatherchange.com/sendfijilove/ 41:21 – Before we wrap up, Michelle tells us how she defines health, how she is living healthy, and how she is a Naked Health Warrior. Rachel Scott/ The Art of Education Towards the Ideal Health

“It’s just a testament to how well we can flourish when we choose to take time for ourselves – especially when the whole world is falling apart.” Rachel Scott is the Director of Teachers’ College and Development YYoga. In addition to chairing the College, she has conceived, structured and created YYoga’s 200-hour teacher training, curated the 300-hour, and managed their mentorship and continuing education programs.  Not only a passionate yoga trainer, she “trains the teacher trainers” and have helped develop a world-class faculty passionate about presenting the latest content through progressive teaching methodologies. She’s always been passionate about teacher education and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Instructional Systems and Technology.  Previously a teacher trainer for Yoga Works in New York City, she  has also been richly immersed in the business aspects of the yoga world during her work as the Studio Director for YYoga’s Yaletown, Teacher Manager for Be Yoga and Yoga Works in New York City, Teacher Manager for Semperviva in Vancouver, and sales specialist for MINDBODY Online. Her teaching mission is “real-life philosophy meets juicy feeling meets incisive alignment.” She invites people to “come breathe, move, and feel. Better.”     00:34 – Meet today’s guest all the way from Vancouver, Rachel Scott. Rachel is an educator who is into “the art of education.” A director of the Teachers College and Development for YYoga, her passion has always been about educating and discovering how to help people become their best through learning experiences. Her personal passion is Health and Wellness, and she lives it through her yoga practice. 01:57 – What’s exciting for Rachel right now in her yoga business? Rachel shares a bit about their project, 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, where aspiring yoga teachers can dive a little deeper into the esoteric layers of what yoga is. The 300 Hour is really where people “find their voice as a teacher.” 03:52 – Rachel shares a bit about the process or art of guiding people into particular yoga poses (asanas). “[This is] really the art of teaching is to first of all recognize … that we’re never going to be able to queue everybody perfectly into a pose because every body is different,” Rachel says. “As a yoga teacher, what we do is we kind of recognize that we do the best that we can to teach everybody skilfully, but then also deal with our students one-on-one and recognize that what they need might be different than the person right next to them needs.” 04:37 – Rachel uses a process called Dual Actions to guide students into poses. She explains it in further detail, along with the concepts it utilizes such as counter-balance. 05:36 – When people look at Rachel now, they see the success. She shares her story with the audience – her background, her past, where she came from and what she had to go through to be where she is now. She used to live in New York City – a place where, she admits, she easily got stressed out. She describes it as “having a long list of To-Do’s” that resulted in her running around, always under pressure. For her, intervention came in the form of a concerned friend who gave her two options; smoke pot or do yoga. Obviously, she elected the latter. “It was so amazingly restorative,” she shares, “for me to be … in a space that felt safe. Where I could breathe and be.” 07:03 – One of the interesting things that happened to her was after a few years of doing yoga, her body started to break down. She later on found out that because she invested so much time into yoga, her body – instead of healing – was starting to get injured. She wound up taking a year off the practice to round out her wellness regime. “Yoga is an amazing physical practice [and] an amazing mental practice, but we actually have to have context for this.” 08:39 – What other challenges or “big things” was Rachel able to overcome or move forward from in terms of healthy living? She gives three tips regarding this: “What I’ve really realized is that in order to be healthy, we want to be really resilient, and we want to be really functional.” Don’t forget to breathe! Enjoy your sensuality   11:06 – What’s one piece of advice Rachel would love to give the listeners? 12:10 – What’s the best transformation Rachel’s ever seen – whether in the teachers she’s trained or the students who come to her classes? Rachel shares the story of one exceptional woman who’s gone through so much hardships in her personal life and her relationships and has emerged on the other end, stronger and more whole. “It’s just … a testament to how well we can flourish when we choose to take time for ourselves – especially when the whole world is falling apart.” 13:40 – What is one thing that she believes the listeners should do to make their movement or take the first step towards their ideal health? “Willing to be uncomfortable,” Rachel says. “Learning to tolerate that … bitter-sweetness of being human – if we can just sit in that feeling of being a little uncertain and being groundless … it allows us to lean into our hearts a little bit more.” 15:58 – If Rachel could go back in time, twenty years back, and tell her younger self one thing, what would it be? 17:58 – What is “real health” for Rachel? Why is it important to her? “It’s  more about trusting that if we slow down and listen, we have a really good sense of what it means to take care of ourselves. And then [we] allow ourselves to follow that intuition.” 19:17 – Start of the QuickFire Questions Round 19:27 – What is the most super weird but most effective thing you do in your life? 20:30 – What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? 21:21 – What is your one go-to thing that you cannot live without? 21:53 – Who is your hero? 23:02 – What is the health industry missing? What does the world need most to transform into its best health? “We need to look at people as whole bodies, rather than just little pieces. Rather than looking at people as symptoms of problems, or things to be fixed. … I think we need to look at people as individual people. … Looking at the whole picture rather than just parsing people into little bits that we deal with. [I think that] if we do that … we’ll humanize ourselves again. And we won’t be afraid to be different, because everybody needs to be a little different.” 25:14 – Any last piece of advice? “Enjoy your bodies. Enjoy being sensual. Increase your capacity for pleasure. The more that we can enjoy the pleasure of our bodies, the more we walk with grace in the world. And love.” If you want to find out more about Rachel (get her training, watch her videos, contact her, etc.,) go to www.rachelyoga.com

Anthony and Kate Golle/ Treating Health Beyond "Allopathy"

Dr Anthony Gollé has been studying human wellness for over 14 years. He has a Bachelor of Human Movement, majoring in Exercise Physiology and a double degree of Chiropractic Science and Clinical Science studied at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).Dr Anthony’s passionate desire for understanding what really makes people well, was sparked only after he himself came close to death from Meningococcal Meningitis. Wellness Chiropractic saw him regenerate his health and ultimately escalate it to levels even better than prior to the care. Since then, Dr Anthony has studied and practiced with some of the leading wellness experts in the world from Europe to the USA and Asia, having the privilege to work with top athletes like Tatiana Grigorieva to celebrities such as Anthony Hopkins and Anthony Robbins. Kate Golle is the founder of My Baby Brilliant and a mum of three. She is passionate about empowering parents to raise healthy families in these challenging times. Kate has worked in the health and wellness industry for over thirteen years alongside her husband, Anthony, who is a chiropractor. Kate has travelled throughout Europe, Asia and the USA in search of answers in helping more and more people achieve optimal health. Kate has worked extensively as a Colon Hydrotherapist, speaking internationally on the benefits of colonics and cleansing. She has also managed Colon Hydrotherapy for the Anthony Robbins event – Life Mastery. Kate completed her training in Microscopy in Chicago and is accredited with I-ACT (International Association Colon Therapists).Prior to her involvement in Cleansing and Detox, Kate was one of the leading Trainers for Chiropractic Teams in Australia, Europe and the USA. 00:34 – Our host introduces the guests for today; Dr. Anthony and Kate Golle – 2 incredible changemakers in terms of their personal health and the health of those around them. Kate is all about helping every family around her to raise their kids and raise them well. Dr. Anthony is all about human performance – helping people get over their internal story, move past it, and have an absolutely amazing life. 01:20 – Kate goes into a little more detail about what it is they ultimately do to help people. Together, they are extremely passionate about guiding people to live the best possible version of themselves. 02:00 – Dr. Anthony explains what they’re currently doing, and what inspires them and motivates them to help the kind of person or people they love helping. He mentions that he believes a good amount of their passion stems from sorrow – just looking at the health statistics of people in New Zealand, Australia, and all over the world, it’s “definitely heading in the wrong direction,” he says. 02:29 – “I think, at the moment, health is made to be something that’s really complex and confusing when really it’s not. So our passion comes from … bridging the gap between where people are and where they know they should be and making simple upgrades so that they can express their full potential.” – Dr. Anthony Golle 03:37 – “Health can be simple by simple changes.” – Harriet Worth 03:57 – Dr. Anthony and Kate share a little more about their story. They’ve accomplished a lot on their journey; five chiropractic studios, Body Brilliant, serving as Tony Robbin’s chiropractor, a case study movie “Overfed and Undernourished”, and more. In this segment, they share their respective backgrounds; where they came from, what they did to get here, and how they used their past as a motivation to move forward. Dr. Anthony himself struggled with chronic fatigue and frequent excruciating headaches. It took a trip to the hospital for him to realize what he was meant to do. 07:48 – Kate grew up with a Mum who was a nurse, meaning Kate was in the hospital a lot when she was younger. She never thought she had issues with her body until she had her spine checked up. The x-rays showed her there was a lot more going on than she’s originally thought. 09:45 – Dr. Anthony shares their top three healthy living lessons to the listeners. Nutrition is really foundational. Simply getting back to basics around nutrition is sufficient Cleansing your body Mental health 13:58 – Kate relates what they feel is their more standout story of transformation that they’ve seen, experienced, and helped through – the story of their nephew, as shown in “Overfed and Undernourished.” 17:16 – I’d love to know some of the takeaways people get when they experience spending time with you moving back into their best health. They mostly get into this place where they completely understand the basics of health and practicality of being healthy. He’s dealt with so many people who have what he terms “allopathy” – simply treating a symptom for the sake of treating the symptom. Symptom simply means a sign of something else. The problem with allopathy is that you’re treating the symptom without ever getting to the root of the problem – the something else. 18:53 – On the opposite end of allopathy, you have “Wellness”, “Holism”, and “Vitality.” These physical and mental states ask the question; how do I get back to my best? How do I get back to full function? It’s not so much about getting rid of the symptoms as it is allowing your body to do its best work. 19:49 – A third group of people are the ones who understand; just because I’m not sick, doesn’t mean I’m well. 21:14 – What is real health for you? 24:09 – Start of the QuickFire Questions, where our host asks our guests a series of quick questions and they answer as fast and as succinctly as they can. 24: 15 – “Who is your hero?” 24:29 – “What’s the number one super weird but effective thing you guys do as a couple?” 25:11 – “What is your number one rule for efficiency in your household?” 25:38 – “What is the number one piece of investment, book, or resource that you’d recommend for people who are wanting to improve their health today?” 26:13 – “Who would you two like to see featured on this podcast?” 27:18 – Head to www.tribalwellness.com/reconnect to find out a little more about Dr. Anthony and Kate’s 10 Day Challenge.   27:59 – Any last piece of advice for the listeners? “Sometimes we make life so complex, and we worry about what other people are thinking and what we are or aren’t doing. But, at the end of the day, just do what makes you happy. […] When you start to have those shifts in your mindset, then you’re just gonna make better choices.” – Dr. Anthony Golle -- Credits: Introduction and Closing Music: "City Life" from https://www.freestockmusic.com/
