Noise in my Head with Adam Emanon

Nikki recently entered the world of non-monogamy after years of being a "serial monogamist". She says it's working much better for her. Adam and Nikki discuss non-monogamy, kink, being queer, feminism, and tackle a bunch of relationship myths and truths in an effort to find peace and understanding for ourselves.

Adam sits down with Canadaland's Jesse Brown to discuss the state of journalism, media literacy, cyncism, and what Michael Moore and Upworthy have in common.

Adam and Taha discuss self-esteem, personal expectations, applying your standards to others, trying to be a better person, empathy, activism, and more.

Aaron is gay, Adam is not. But Adam also isn't straight as an arrow either. Aaron tells his story about realizing he was gay as a teen, and the struggles that came with not being ready to come out for many years. Adam talks about how he was very homophobic as a teen, but over time he smartened up, and through exposure to and some involvement in the local Kink/Fetish community, he has come to be much more accepting of LGBTQ people, and has even explored some of these aspects of himself more deeply.

Season 3 begins. I talk to Wil, a friend and fellow Atheist about why we became Atheists, and why we eventually stopped being angry at Religious people, and learned that Empathy and understanding are the preferable way to live.

I'm starting a new mini-series, to talk about why I've changed my mind on various important issues over the years. I don't think people talk very often about why and how their views and feelings change (for the positive!) so I'm going to explore it myself, because I've changed my mind several times, and I believe I'm better off for it.

I did a follow up interview with Jason Holborn, from season 1. When we last spoke he had gone 111 days without eating any processed, artificial sugars. He is now at days 583 and counting. Jason is a screen writer and filmmaker, so we take some time to talk about production work and the business side of creativity.

Taha talks about the difference between academic and professional success, learning to work as part of a team, misconceptions about what network operations is like, working very odd hours, solving challenging problems, knowing a little bit about every aspect of the business, making stressful phone calls, and more.

On this episode, I talked to a career counselor. She tells us what her job entails (how she helps people), what can a career counselor help with and what can't they, the experience vs credentials problem, advice for people who are thinking about starting their own business, advice for shy or introverted people, advice for polymaths and jacks of all trades, and more.

I finally got to interview an engineer, though he can't officially call himself that yet. We end up talking mainly about how to make buildings into "living spaces", the actual science behind keeping a space cold on a hot day, and times we've failed at manual math.
