Episode 151 - Insights on S*x, P*rnography, and the Power of First Mention
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In this Insights episode of Outside of Sunday, Laura and I unpack some of the big themes raised in Kristen’s conversation about protecting our kids in a world soaked in technology. We talk openly about our own first exposures to pornography, why it’s no longer just an “adult issue,” and how the internet has become the biggest gateway for children today.
We dig into practical questions every parent wrestles with - sleepovers, screens, first mention, and whether we want our kids learning from us or learning from Google. We also talk about what the Bible actually says about sex, how God designed it to be good, and how pornography distorts that design in really destructive ways.
This episode might feel a little too honest at times… but my prayer is that it gives you courage to have the hard conversations, wisdom to build real connection with your children, and confidence to walk with Jesus in the messy, modern world we’re navigating together.

Episode in
Outside of Sunday
Click here to watch this episode on YouTube.
In this week’s episode of Outside of Sunday, I sit down with Kristen Jenson from Defend Young Minds - a leading voice in protecting children from the harms of pornography.
Kristen shares how a heartbreaking story of sibling abuse first moved her to create the book Good Pictures Bad Pictures, and we talk honestly about why equipping our kids is one of the most loving things we can do as parents.
We unpack why pornography is linked to sexual abuse, how “porn-proofing” actually works, and why starting these conversations early makes such a difference. I also share my own experience with the book and the impact it’s had in our home.
From understanding the difference between art and pornography, to knowing what age to begin the conversation, this episode is practical, hope-filled, and deeply needed for every parent navigating the digital world.

Episode 149 - Insights on God in His Rightful Place
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In this Insights episode of Outside of Sunday, Laura and I unpack some of the themes raised in Charlotte’s testimony - from identity and idols to sanctification and the beauty of a life anchored in Jesus.
We share how subtle idols can creep into our hearts, and look at the human condition through the lens of the Israelites, the temptation to put other things before God, and the danger of a “Jesus plus” gospel.
Laura and I also speak about the different stages of the Christian walk, extending grace to those with “messy” testimonies while challenging believers to examine what - or who - sits on the throne of their hearts. We wrap up with our personal challenges for the week!

Episode 147 - Insights on Christian Parenting
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In today’s Insight episode, we’re reflecting on part one of our chat with Charlotte and talking about why it’s so valuable to hear from believers across the Christian spectrum - different backgrounds, different traditions, and different stages of their walk with Jesus.
But our main reflection today is all about Christian parenting. We dive into the swirl of online parenting advice, talk about why discipline isn’t the same as abuse, look at what Ephesians 6 teaches us, and chat through the difference between raising kids who truly love and know Jesus versus “good little Pharisees.” We also touch on our daily need for Jesus - not just to save us (justify) but to grow and shape (sanctify) both us and our children.
Oh… AND we are redrawing our giveaway winner at the end. Congrats, Jacinda Corbett!

Episode 146 - Unstable Home, Unshakable God: Charlotte Burt, Part 1
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In part one of our chat with Mum and social media influencer Charlotte (@_charlotteemily__), she shares the story of her life - from a childhood marked by instability to the complicated journey of making sense of her past. Beginning with her Dad’s radical conversion and her parents’ early faith, Charlotte describes how that thread of belief remained through the years, even as her family drifted from church and home life grew increasingly unpredictable.
She reflects on the impact of her Mum’s emotional affair, the breakdown of her parents’ marriage, and the role reversals that left her without the stability she needed to prepare for adulthood.
As a teen, Charlotte struggled with self-worth, and her first serious relationship beginning in betrayal. When it ended, it triggered a season of rebellion - living in ways she knew weren’t good for her and distancing herself from God.
Charlotte also opens up about learning the truth of her Mum’s second affair, her Mum secretly divorcing her Dad, and the shock of being asked to tell her Dad about the divorce.
This conversation tells an honest, nuanced story - real, unembellished, and deeply human. It explores how a fragile thread of faith can pull someone through family trauma and rebellion, and what it looks like to slowly rebuild a life shaped by complicated beginnings.
There’s more to come next week in part two, where we hear about Charlotte becoming a social media influencer, her marriage, living in Bali, having twins, dabbling in new age and psychic practices, the breakdown of her marriage, and her return to God.

Episode 144: Courage, Calling & Contentment - Riley Kehoe, Part 2
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In part two of our chat with Riley, she opens up about the life-altering moments that shaped her faith - from the tsunami she survived in part one, to (in this episode) the split-second courage it took to help save a drowning man in the middle of a stormy ocean. Riley shares honestly about facing death head-on, what those moments revealed about God, and how they matured her walk with Jesus.
We also dive into her journey through singleness - the difference between closed vs open singleness, and why she believes both marriage and singleness are gifts. Riley speaks candidly about the reality that marriage isn’t guaranteed, the beauty of trusting God with your story, and the freedom she’s discovered along the way.
She also shares what inspires her to keep telling her story, what she’s been enjoying about podcasting, and how she chooses to live her faith outside of Sunday.

In part 1 of this powerful testimony, Riley Kehoe shares how her childhood trip to Thailand in 2004 turned life-changing. At just ten years old, Riley and her family experienced the 9.1 earthquake and the devastating tsunami that followed - the deadliest natural disaster of the 21st century.
From prophetic dreams that led her family to New Zealand, to the moment she saw the wave racing toward them, Riley recounts her story of courage, trauma, and a good God who carried her through it all. With faith, prayer, and miracles along the way, this episode reminds us that even in the midst of extreme disaster, God is so near.

Episode 139 - The Fight Against Child Exploitation: Child Rescue
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
Today's episode is a sobering one, but such an important listen. I sat down with Tony and Louisa from Child Rescue at the Thinking Matters 'Truth Matters' conference. Child Rescue is an organisation working to locate and free children trapped in exploitation around the world.
In this episode you'll hear what this work actually looks like - where the children are being rescued from, how the raids happen, and the heartbreaking reality of the trauma no child should have to endure. One story I can’t stop thinking about is the girl at the green gate - a three-year-old who was being sold online. For two years, one team member devoted himself to searching through Google Maps and walking the streets until he finally found her and was able to orchestrate her rescue from her abusers.
We talked about how Tony and Louisa hold onto hope and how their faith sustains and motivates them in their work.
If this episode moves you like it did me, please take a moment to pray for the work Child Rescue is doing - and if you can, visit their website (https://www.childrescue.org.nz/) to support or get involved.

Episode 138 - The Most Strategic Christian Harvest Field You've Never Heard of, Todd Funk
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
This chat was recorded at the Truth Matters Conference - and it wasn’t even supposed to happen! Todd Funk stepped in at the last minute to fill in for astrophysicist Dr. Luke Barnes, and with no prep and no plan, we hit record and went with the flow. What came out was one of the most genuine and inspiring conversations as Todd shared his passion with us.
Todd talks about how the 4–14 window is the most strategic - and often overlooked - harvest field in the Christian world. From his work with Launch Pad (Bible in Schools) to Children’s Bible Ministries at Camp Raglan, Todd has a FIRE in his belly for the kids of New Zealand, and I’m so thankful we have him! We also touch on his apologetics work and tackle the question, “Why does truth matter?”.

If you’ve ever wrestled with how to honour your culture while following Christ, I hope this conversation will bless you.
Henare shares his thoughts on navigating identity, subjectivism, and the growing resurgence of Māori spirituality. We also touch on whether a spiritual experience alone is enough to sustain our faith.

In part two of MK’s story, we pick up right where things left off. Harlee had just been born - the baby MK had longed for - but right from the start, she could tell something wasn’t right. And when the doctors said everything was fine, her mother’s intuition kept telling her that something was seriously wrong.
What followed was a long stretch of sleepless nights, confusion, hospital visits, and moments where she had to hold on tight to her faith. But what’s beautiful is how she tells it - not from a place of despair, but with joy and gratitude for what God did through it all. You’ll hear how He showed up in the middle of her fear and exhaustion, and how MK learned to see His goodness even when things didn’t make sense.

Episode 132: Insights on Saying 'Yes' to God's Purpose
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In this Insights episode, Laura and I are reflecting on some of the themes that came out of Dianna’s story. We talk about how love needs to be more than just words, the power of one person saying “yes” to God, and what it really looks like to walk in the works He’s prepared for us.
We share some of our own challenges and Laura brings her perspective on what it means to be made in God’s image. It was such a great conversation and a reminder for us all that at the end of the day, it's only what’s done for Christ that lasts.

Episode 131: Abuse, Justice, and Redemption - Dianna Bautista, Part 2
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
In part one, we heard about Dianna’s ministry reaching women in the brothels of Pattaya and beyond. In this second part, we step into her own story - growing up in California, walking away from God while enjoying success in Hollywood, and the pain of abuse that marked her childhood and married life.
But her testimony doesn’t end in brokenness. Dianna shares how truth came to light, justice was done, and how God redeemed deep wounds. This conversation is raw and honest - but full of hope in a God who heals and restores.

Episode 129 - New Zealand Christians Respond to Charlie Kirk's M*rder
Episode in
Outside of Sunday
Hey Outsiders, this week’s episode is a little different. Laura and I are taking time to reflect on the shocking m*rder of Charlie Kirk and the way it’s impacted Christians here in New Zealand and around the world. We’re also joined by the hosts of The Conservative Pentecostal, Phil Me In, and Whispers of Grace podcasts, who share their own thoughts and encouragement.
Something has shifted. For many of us, Charlie’s death has raised big questions about fear, courage, and what it really means to stand firm in our faith as the opposing culture grows louder. Together, we talk honestly about grief, forgiveness, responsibility, and the hope we have in Christ.
My prayer is that this conversation reminds you that we’re not alone in this - we are outsiders, yes, but we’re outsiders together. The stakes for being a public Christian, for holding a different opinion, for being an outsider in this world, have been raised. But more than ever, we must love those who hate us, so that the kindness of God might lead them to repentance, that they might know the love of God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.
