Learn how to Celebrate Asian Pacific American Month from Partners
Episode in
Partners Podcast
In 1990, George H.W. Bush signed a bill passed by Congress to extend Asian-American Heritage from one week to a month. Officially in 1992, May was designated as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. Celebrating the culture, art, and traditions of Asian and Pacific Islander neighbors and friends is a great way to learn about the over 20 million people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent that call the United States home. If you need some ideas this year on how to recognize and celebrate, you could:
Go to the museum near you that displays art from an Asian or Pacific Islander artist.
Try cooking something new, look for an Asian or Pacific Islander-inspired recipe, and make it with the family.
Some crafts you can do with the whole family is making:
Japanese Origami
Chinese paper lanterns
Glue Batik making
Diwali Elephants
Make your favorite movie snack and check out movies produced by Asian or Pacific Islanders.
We hope these ideas help inspire you and your family to help celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Throughout this month, we invite you to share your Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebrations with us on Instagram. Tag @PartnersFCU* so that we can share your story with our Members. Women’s History Month, How will you celebrate?
Episode in
Partners Podcast
March wasn’t always celebrated as Women’s History Month. According to the National Women’s History Museum, it was only celebrated for a week in the month of March until 1987, when the United States Congress passed Public Law 100-9, designating March as Women’s History Month. It is a month-long event to reflect on contributions of women in the United States history, such as Abigail Adams to Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth to Rosa Parks just to name a few. These are some ideas on how to celebrate Women’s History Month:
• Read a book by a female author to celebrate literary works by women.
• Listen to a podcast hosted by women: Stuff Mom Never Told You or The History Chicks.
• Send a “thank you” letter or note to women in your life who have inspired you or have impacted your life. Who doesn’t enjoy getting a letter from a friend?
• Love TED Talks? Check out the top 10 TED talks by Women.
• Join Partners, Women and Finances Live Webinar on March 15th, click here to register.

According to the Library of Congress, Black History Month began during “…the nation’s bicentennial. President Gerald R. Ford urged Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Since then, schools, businesses, and the government take this time every year to “recognize the importance of Black history in the drama of the American story.”1
This year, we invite you to share your Black History Month stories on Instagram and tag @PartnersFCU* so that we can share them with our Members. You can also check out the video below, produced in 2021, featuring some of our Partners cast members and their stories.
