Independent Med Management: Bridging the gap between injured workers, treatment providers and insurers

The road to recovery shouldn’t be taken alone. Every aspect of injury management is an important one. Until now, the pharmaceutical component of injury management had been largely overlooked. Injured persons and treatment providers have relied on one another to prevent, identify and address medication associated risks without the necessary knowledge or guidance. This is where we as pharmacist can bridge the gap. To ensure that all injured persons and treatment providers are armed with relevant and practical expert advice to make appropriate clinical decisions. In the previous episode we touched on what a claims review specialist does from the perspective of the contractor/ employee. Pharmacy wages under fire! Expert tips for new graduates

Pharmacist roles have increased in responsibility and complexity. In addition to dispensing medicines, pharmacists provide vaccination services and health checks, yet their wages and conditions do not reflect this. \r\n\r\nNew data confirms that pharmacy graduates are the lowest-paid graduates in Australia,  prompting a warning to the pharmacy sector! Therefore, it’s important we make pharmacy an attractive industry for the next generation of candidates so we can continue to provide the community with the important services they rely on. \r\nIn this week’s episode we speak with Bianca Piljic, accredited pharmacist, National Committee member for Professional Pharmacist Australia Queensland and Vice President at Professionals Australia where she works to improve the conditions of employee pharmacists in Australia.
