Finally we discuss Yuri's tattoo and how it destroy's Jonny's Tattoo-Theory-of-Pop-Punk-Bands. This is the first episode in our new season where we discuss each MxPx album, working our way back to the good ones.

Loyal listeners are aware of the phenomenal evolution of our sound. We tap into this to look at the changing sound of Norma Jean, a Christian metalcore band that crossed over. To do this right, all the original members of the podcast quit and were replaced.

PPGC, celebrating the newly PHD-ness of cohost Dr Vapedad420, goes to the original, the Q source of Christian punk that inspired everyone from Ballydowse to Mark's Gospel... CRASHDOG! How does an Urtext hold up to our modern, post-Tooth and Nail ears?

The God Cast is back and they're not pulling any punches! As part of our duty to cover any and all MxPx news, the God Cast discusses the Kickstarter campaign to fund their next album. Is it ethical for an established and successful band like MxPx to use the crowdfunding model, or should it be reserved for up-and-coming groups? What potential potential record label meddling was the band afraid of, when, to be honest, we all know it's going to sound like an MxPx album. What other Christian punk-related kickstarts that we think are bad? Bad Christian kickstarters?

We are back! You thought we burned out back in September, but, oh no, we are returning to fad away. For no reason in particular Matt and Jonny discuss Christian post-hardcore band As Cities Burn, specifically their album that Jonny had, Son I Loved You At Your Darkest. Again for no reason in particular, the conversation shifts to online discourse of important issues, youtube unboxing videos, and the reasons some people might have for having a knee-jerk negative reaction towards any progress in culture.

Unicorn Trista is back! And she's been reading Kurt Cobain's Def Leppard fan-fiction. In between pressing discussions of who's burned out and who's faded away, the gang discusses Christian anarchist Celt punk band Ballydowse. They talk about the different context a song called Weapon of Mass Destruction takes on in a pre-9/11 world and how anti-capitalist, anti-right politics fit into the world of Christian music.

Having failed at that, the three discuss the most important news of the day: Yuri's outfit in the Teenage Politics video! Also, possibly to honor the 500th anniversary of the reformation, we all practice our German for a bit.

Take a break from your Tom DeLonge books, everyone, Matt and Jonny are joined by Jamie Townsend! Jamie is an amazing poet, check out his latest book Shade, and co-editor of Elderly, and he also comes form a Christian punk background. They talk about the different ways they got into Christian punk and how it pointed to their life-long interests and traits, and the best items you can find at Hot Topic during the 90s and today. Jamie has a great clear narrative of his fandom and an encyclopedic knowledge of music so the conversation covers pretty much everything!

Matt and Jonny are again joined by Alice and Beth to discuss Tom DeLonge's Ufology book Sekret Machines: Gods! This week they cover chapters 3 and 4, and learn how to steer a UFO and what the benefits to human sacrifice could be. Then we finish with maybe the most important discussion on the subject: Which model of Casio calculator watch will help us if/when we need to rescue Tom DeLonge?

That's right, we finally broke into the secret society of Bad Christian Podcast! Jonny talks about finally breaking through and confronting the conservative megachurch about the outcomes. Then Matt and Jonny are joined by fast-favorite guests Alice and Beth to begin the first part of our book club miniseries! Dispersed throughout our regular episodes we're going to be spending the summer reading and discussing Tom DeLonge (Blink-182, Box Car Racer, Angels & Airwaves)'s hard-hitting book on the UFO phenomonon, Sekret Machines: Gods. We talk about Tom's history with music and UFOlogy, and the place it has within the Christian Punk world.

Matt and Jonny are back with a jam packed episode! We first discuss some of the ins and outs the particular caffeination systems it takes to fuel one of the world's most respected Christian punk podcasts. Then we look back at our formidable years in the Christian punk scene online, specifically at the MxPx chatroom. Matt talks about the antagonistic relationship he had with a particular moderator, possibly due to a provocative screen name; while Jonny mentions his time in the TBN Christian punk message boards.

You've been asking for it! In the crossover event of the season, the PPGC reviews The Definitive Ranking of Bands From Christian Pop Punk's Glory Days. All your favorite bands have been collected by Jesse Carey for an article in Relevant Magazine, and we're here to talk about why it's incorrect and why we should have been consulted--even though the article was probably published before our podcast existed! But first! We talk about the release of As I Lay Dying frontman's Tim Lambesis from prison. We discuss enough 'roid rage to fuel attempting to contract a hit on his wife, a prison sentence that included suing because of manboobs, and an early release.

Has Christian punk secretly topped the charts? Twenty One Pilots has become one of the biggest bands in the world over the past years, but are they a Christian Band? A Band of Christians? Should they be considered a the most successfully zeitgeist cross-over Christian music success since Stryper? This question was tasked to us by a curious listener who wanted our expert opinions. To be honest, at first we were skeptical, not knowing much about the rising stars, but we soon were intrigued. We look at the history of the band, and the beliefs of the members, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. We give analysis of some lyrics, including fan interpretations. We also look at the "Blurryface" mythology created on the latest record and how it can work with classic Christian identity. Finally, we look at other bands with a Christian music background that are getting crossover success in the trendy Americana-Folk genre, such as Judah The Lion. Is there a new era of Christian music gaining crossover mainstream recognition?

Matt and Jonny start things off by talking about their favorite post-apocalyptic literature, for no particular reason at all. Then they get into the thick of it, talking about one of the first Christian Punk bands to ever exist, The Crucified. We talk about their first and second albums, comparing the lyrical content to other classic Christian texts. Finally we look at the long and varied career of Christian punk legend Mark Salomon, from The Crucified and Stavesacre to his other professional accomplishments.

Happy Holidays God Cast Nation! That's right, we here at the PPGC like to keep the Holy in Holidays. In other news, It's our 1 year anniversary! To celebrate that, we have an excellent episode that is jam-packed, raw, and uncut! MxPx wanted to help us celebrate, so they released a Christmas single for us to talk about. Also Jonny vaguely remembered that on last year's Christmas episode he promised to do something a year later; he's pretty sure he remembered what it is, and he totally does it! For those keeping track, this is the first kept promise in the entire history of the God Cast. Happy Solstice!

The Pod Punk God Cast film club continues with our look at the classic MxPx documentary MxPx--It Came From Bremerton! The touchstone film came out during the height of MxPxamania, that magical time between Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo and The Ever Passing Moment. We talk about everything from band dynamics to the dynamics of band looks. We also use the information from the documentary to revisit the controversial exit of original guitarist Andy Husted. Does everything get settled and cleared up?! Better listen to find out!
