What's My Name with Pabel Martinez

Do you celebrate your progress? Are you impatient with the process? Pabel's his biggest critic and he often finds himself feeling impatient ont he progress he's making. That said, one meeting seems to have shifted his whole perspective on productivity, success, and celebration. Shameless with Jasmine Ruiz

Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Jasmine Ruiz.  Jasmine Ruiz is a NYC-based comedian, writer, and content creator. With an extensive background in the entertainment industry, she has honed a diverse skill set including comedy, writing, and content creation. Her passion for storytelling and creativity allows her to create original and engaging content across all platforms. She’s currently working on the trailer for her dream project. She is manifesting good reviews for the trailer and hoping the dramedy makes its debut on HBO!  In this week’s episode, Jasmine tells us how she maintained her authenticity, both in school and in the workplace. While attending Barnard, an Ivy League school, she experienced a culture shock and started to learn what was ok and was not ok to say in PWIs (predominantly white institutions). This kind of social education continued in the corporate setting where she found herself going head to head with toxic hierarchical company cultures. In the end, Jasmine decided that she would be comfortable making others uncomfortable if it meant dismantling the hierarchy that was holding her and her colleagues back. Tune in to hear how her shamelessness, as she describes it, has allowed her to live her most authentic self.  Follow Jasmine on: Instagram: @thejasmineruiz TikTok: @thejasruiz Website: https://jasmine.nyc/  Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabelmartinez/  Join our Personal Mindset Coach App’s Waitlist here! I'm Not a Perfectionist with Pabel Martinez

When's the last time you tried something for the first time? After launching a Live CoWorking Stream on Twitch (follow us here), Pabel uncovers that not being a perfectionist is a strength that enables him to move faster than his peers. Launching new projects and testing them in the world doesn't make him as uncomfortable as it would most people. That said, his "done is better than perfect" mindset isn't always appreciated and it makes people around him uncomfortable. While working at Facebook, it was met with resistance. Your Virtual Prima with Ana Paola

Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Ana Paola Ana Paola is a first-generation Mexican-American raised in Sacramento, CA and she has been creating content in different formats for over 7 years! When she moved to New York in June of 2021, she was in a bit of a creative slump and resorted to TikTok for entertainment, as one does. She’d scroll past endless NYC day-in-the-life videos and quickly realized those videos were not relatable to her. The creators didn’t look like her, live like her, or sound like her, so she said, “Why not make my own?” And she did! But in Spanglish, because that’s how her brain works. She posted her first TikTok in July of 2021 and the rest is history. Since then, she’s amassed an audience of over 150,000 Spanglish speakers who finally see themselves represented in some way. She hopes to inspire others to continue to show up as they are and take up space because we belong everywhere.  In this week’s episode, Ana tells us all about how she created a creative career herself even when her style of video editing wasn’t popular yet. After walking away from her very religious community and being shunned by almost everyone she knew, she started fending for herself and deciding who she wanted to be. In her free time, she dove into video editing and production. Eventually, she pursued videography full-time and created funny videos for her cousins to watch while they were apart. Those same videos went viral and now you may know her as @anapaowow everyone’s favorite prima. Tune into this week’s episode to hear more about Ana’s incredible story of strength and resilience.  Follow Ana on: Instagram: @anapaowow TikTok: @anapaowow Website: https://www.anapao.com/about  Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabelmartinez/  Join our Personal Mindset Coach App’s Waitlist here! Hate Hate Hooray! with Pabel Martinez

Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Pabel Martinez. Pabel Martinez is a native New Yorker, storyteller, and former tech executive. Throughout his career, Pabel was trained to believe that many parts of his identity were unprofessional. Pabel would dedicate days out of the week to study "white popular American culture" and memorizing scripts he would later use for work conversations. He knew that talking about Bad Bunny and shows like Insecure, would not make him relatable. Instead, he would binge-watch seasons of Riverdale since it would help him build relationships with colleagues and senior leaders. The assimilation became overwhelming, and it was at the expense of his identity & mental health. As a result, Pabel's mission in life became redefining professionalism by empowering authenticity. In 2020, he launched Plurawl to bring this mission to life. In this week’s episode, Pabel opens up about his recent feelings through a video journal entry. He talks about how he feels both proud of his friends for their achievements and also jealous because he would love to have the same opportunities. These conflicting feelings can be damaging to his relationships and to himself, so in this episode, he discusses how he supports his friends and their accomplishments while also holding space for his own negative feelings.  A heads up - paid subscribers of the podcast will have access to more of these personal video journal entries in 2024!  Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabelmartinez/  To book a speaking engagement email hola@plurawl.com Podcast production for this episode was provided by CCST. Smart Choices with Jeff Lapaix

Working in corporate as a man of color is wild. Oftentimes, we are told to make ourselves smaller, brush off microaggressions, and accept sandbagging in the workplace. It gets to a point where you can’t put 110% into your work because you have to put so much effort into appeasing a hostile work environment. Eventually, you get to a point where you have to make a choice - stick it out or leave for something better.  Jeff Lapaix is a Bronx-born creative marketing strategist and producer with over 10 years of experience across sports and news. He’s also the founder of The Smartest Guys in the Room, a podcast platform that sets out to redefine what it means to be “smart” by celebrating creatives and changemakers, and the impact they’re making on communities across NYC. He’s the co-writer + voice behind the lip-syncing comedic duo “Juan Bago & O” In this week’s episode, Jeff talks about his time in a hostile corporate environment as a creative man of color. From having his ideas stolen and a socially enforced office uniform, Jeff has had to navigate cutthroat company culture. And while many of his colleagues would kill to be in his spot, he was starting to see through the name-brand prestige. It wasn’t until he started withholding the details of his amazing ideas that he decided enough was enough. Tune in to hear how he got out and what he’s doing now as a creative strategist.  Follow Jeff on:  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jefflapaix/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesmartestpod  The Smartest Guys in the Room Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@thesmartestpod  Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabelmartinez/  To book a speaking engagement email hola@plurawl.com Podcast production for this episode was provided by CCST. Compassionate Healthcare with Angel Rosario Jr.

Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where we explore the conflict we often face between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest is Angel Rosario. Angel Rosario Jr. is a native New Yorker from Harlem/Washington Heights who explores his intersectional identities as a gay, Afro-Dominican, cis-gender doctor who is completing his training as a General Surgeon. Coming from a low-income background, Angel explores race, health, power, privilege, and the socioeconomic disparities that result through this lens, articulating them through his memoir writing and poetry, health disparities research, and mentorship. Also known as ‘el dotoi con los rolos’, he further strives to challenge narratives of professionalism, notions of ‘success’, and criticisms of healing by donning his hair with rolos, a symbol of his community and a homage to the Dominican, Puerto Rican, and non-Latina Black women who raised him. He believes that a diverse, unapologetically authentic, and culturally humble healthcare workforce, working alongside community members, is crucial to ending race-based medicine. He is a first-gen college graduate of the University at Buffalo, received his Master's in Public Health degree from Harvard University as a Zuckerman Fellow, and obtained his Medical Degree from the University of California San Francisco, where he focused on caring for Urban Underserved communities, receiving the 2020 Gold-Headed Cane award honoring the graduate student who exemplifies the qualities of a ‘true physician’. In this week's episode, Angel tells us his experience growing up in the Bronx being tested into a gifted private school in the Upper West Side, and navigating the medical industry as a queer black man. Angel is a kind and generous man whose work focuses on reducing racial bias in the medical industry. He hopes to dismantle systems of oppression in his field so that future patients can have a more compassionate medical experience.  Follow Angel on:  Instagram: @angelcurandero  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/angelrosariojrmd2be/  Follow Pabel on: Website: https://plurawl.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plurawl/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@plurawl  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabelmartinez/  To book a speaking engagement email hola@plurawl.com Podcast production for this episode was provided by CCST.
