Earlier this month, the WXXI Listening Booth was open at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, recording stories of people visiting the exhibit RACE: Are We So Different?. The exhibit looks at the science and biology of race, as a means of creating dialogue and fostering understanding. Quite a few visitors shared their own experiences and their reactions to the exhibit. The travelling exhibit RACE: Are We So Different? will be on display at RMSC through April 24, 2013. A Rochester community forum aims to take a long, hard look at the effects of trauma on communities of color. The Hidden Effects of Trauma on Our Lives: Historical and Present Trauma in Communities of Color public forum will be held February 28th in the auditorium at St. Mary's Hospital. The Mental Health Association is facilitating the discussion. The overall goal is to help minorities of all ages maintain mental wellness by uncovering and ultimately ending self-defeating and violent behaviors.
