The last of our mini pod is from Washington DC and a Unity for Democracy protest against electoral fraud and corruption that was held om the 23rd of October. At the protest Ebba Bergström talked to Bruce Carter, one of the speakers, about his thoughts on USAs future, electoral fraud and why he went from Bernie Sanders to Donald Trump. He is the founder of Black Men for Bernie and Trump for Urban Communities.

This is the second out of three mini pods produced by Radio UPF in connection to the American election on November 8th. In Moscow Anna Svedérus interviewed Swedish correspondent Maria Persson Löfgren about how she perceives the development of Russian-American relations, and how they can develop further depending on which of the two candidates becomes the next president of the United States.

Starting today we are publishing one mini pod a day until the American election on the 8th of November. While in Washington DC Ebba Bergström interviewed Kim Hinton, president of the Washington branch of American Association of University Women, about political culture in America, AAUWs role in DC lobbying and of Hillary Clinton’s gender in the presidential campaign.

This week we talk about how different electoral systems affect politics and political culture. The upcoming American election differs in many ways from the elections that we are all used to with American felony disenfranchisement and other restrictions on who can participate. Compared to Sweden there is also the difference between voting for a person or a party.
