Michelle Cheripka

Michelle Cheripka is a senior in Columbia College studying English. Michelle writes screenplays, plays, personal essays, articles, and poems. On campus, she's been involved with the film community and with The Blue and White. Most recently, she wrote the CUPAL Special Project "CENTO," a devised play composed entirely in quotes from other sources. She aspires to write and make films and plays.

Karisma Price

Karisma Price is from New Orleans, LA. She is currently a junior at Columbia University double majoring in Creative Writing and Film Studies. She has performed her poetry at the New Orleans Museum of Art and is a former student intern at MSNBC. Karisma aspires to use performance poetry as a platform to educate middle and high school students on race and inequality. Her biggest accomplishment to date is making Barack Obama smile.

Eliza Callahan is a junior at Columbia College majoring in Visual Art and Creative Writing with a focus in poetry. She co-fronts the band Jack and Eliza and spent last summer touring both nationally and internationally. She is currently working on curating a contemporary ceramics show that will feature work by other members of Columbia’s visual arts community.

Pippa Biddle

Pippa Biddle studies creative writing at Columbia. Her professional work tends to focus on volunteer travel (or voluntourism), with a special interest in issues of privilege and race as they play out through tourism in the developing world. Margo Jefferson

Margo Jefferson is a professor in the writing department of the Columbia University School of the Arts. She won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism, and was a staff writer for The New York Times and Newsweek. Her reviews and essays have appeared in New York Magazine, The New Republic, Vogue, Harper's, and many other publications. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Rockefeller Foundation/Theater Communications Group grant. She has also written and performed two theater pieces at The Cherry Lane Theatre and The Culture Project. She is the author of "On Michael Jackson" and her memoir, "Negroland," was published this September by Pantheon.
