Show Notes and Links:
It takes us a while to get into the show, but we finally do and debrief on PK’s use of Whoosh to clean his MacBook Pro screen! Unfortunately his sister’s laptop doesn’t come out unscathed and we talk about Apple’s reflective layer manufacturing defect.
We transition into talking about laptop stickers and Alex stumbled upon an interesting article. Article on Preserving Laptop Stickers on MacBooks: https://grh.am/2019/preserving-laptop-stickers-on-macbooks/
Our first main topic focuses on Ikea’s Symfonisk speakers (we love Ikea’s product names btw). These speakers a collaboration with Sonos, and we have some thoughts - both about the speakers and Sonos speakers. Ikea Symfonisk: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/home_electronics/46194/
Our second main topic is on a design tool we both use at Capax. PK is new to Figma, but Alex has experience in Figma, Sketch and Illustrator. Alex shares his thoughts, and PK provides his perspective as a heavy Illustrator user new to Figma. Here are links to the tools:
Figma: https://www.figma.com
Sketch: https://www.sketch.com
Illustrator: https://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator.html
Hear and Tell:
PK starts by nerding out about the new Apollo 11 documentary released in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landings. See the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpLrp0SW8yg
Alex finds and interesting application of AI where users can help an algorithm train on your color preferences. We touch on AI applications in design but decide to save it for a different show. Khroma: http://khroma.co/
Alex finds a fun little mash-up of Windows and Mac, combining the cons of both operating system into one playful design. We really enjoyed this and had fun playing around with it! Macindows: https://www.getmacindows.com
PK comes up with this last one, and both Alex and PK go on a tangent about racing, Nascar vs F1, and a deep dive into electric cars and the future of driving. Here’s a link to the Hungarian Grand Prix race highlights PK is referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnz-lc9LYgo

Episode 002: Take 1
Episode in
RedEye Design
We get into the show with some talk about podcasting vs filming and share what we’ve heard through the grapevine on Storyboarding heavily vs shooting without a storyboard.
Jony Ive’s leaving Apple and we kinda feel good about it, and think his departure is well timed.
This isn’t our first podcast episode, so we debrief on our thoughts on the first episode we ever recorded. This one goes a lot smoother in case you’re wondering.
PK and Alex are thrilled they killed the MacBook line, but it needs to come back as an ARM laptop. Touchbars aren’t useful…
And cleaning your laptop screen… Apparently it just needs a little whoosh!
