Andres Marquez- Four Part Series On Cannabis (2 of 4)

Andres Marquez is one of the most interesting people you could ever meet. Notable.ca has coined him as one of Canada's entrepreneurs to watch, and for good reason. As a food entrepreneur, Chef, restaurant consultant, founder of staffy.ca and an avid yoga practitioner, Andres has made waves in the Toronto food community. His talent, skills and Mexican charm has helped bring tacos and quality tequila to the Toronto masses with an inventive approach.   In episode 2 of our 4 part series on Cannabis and Fitness, Andres discusses new options for Cannabis consumption. Andres also speaks candidly about reinventing himself after a rough series of events took him through a year and a half of hedonistic debauchery. He has learned to recreate inner and outer balance for himself, and now realizes there are other alternatives to managing physical and emotional pain. Andres feels that using substances straight from the earth as opposed to products created from a laboratory can support the body in a superior way not just for pain, but for all over wellbeing.     Follow Andres Marquez on Facebook at: Andres Marquez   On Instagram: andres_tequila   Linkedin:   Check out Staffy at:   https://www.staffy.ca/   To find out more about the Operation Smile charity check out this website:   https://www.operationsmile.org/

Everyday Toxics With Muhannad Malas

With every passing year, we have more  access and awareness to living a less toxic life. In the real world, are we truly putting this in to action?  Muhannad Malas, the toxics program manager at Environmental Defense speaks his truth on wether or not Canada is doing its due diligence in regards to toxics reform.    Public awareness and accurate information sources are a great way for all of us to take control of how we touch and ingest things.  Did you know that even though a ban on a toxic substance is in place, it doesn't ensure the offending substance is out of circulation?   Marie now realizes that reading a few articles or watching a few environmental films doesn’t make you a specialist. Marie admits she has deep faults when it comes to living a less toxic life, is warped in her selective choices, and has been quick to judge others on their toxic lifestyles. Muhannad shares his top pet peeve when it comes to educating the general public regarding toxic trends, and how to approach toxic exposure reduction in a more intelligent way.   Follow Munhannad Malas here: Twitter: @mmalas Facebook: Muhannad Malas   Follow Environmental Defense here:  www.environmentaldefense.ca Facebook: @EnvironmentalDefenseCanada   Follow the World Health Organizarion here: www.who.int/   Films to consider:   A Plastic Ocean: https://www.plasticoceans.org/film/   River Blue Film: riverbluethemovie.eco/the-film/

Running Around With Steam Whistle Brewery

Alex Kennedy sits in to talk about how Steam Whistle Brewery makes one of the cleanest and most natural beers in Canada. This award winning Czech Pilsner is created with just four simple ingredients.    Ingredient labeling is still not a clear practice in Canada. Some beer companies add up to 100 ingredients that might not be listed on their label. Did you know some breweries use ingredients such as corn and caramel colouring? You definitely don’t want that in your beer.    Speaking of colour, Alex likes to build his summer tan nude beaching on Ward’s Island in Toronto..but explains he repeatedly has had trouble finding the right nude beach.    To help keep Alex in top shape, Todd and Marie make a pact with Alex on the show to get him back into running. Running is something Alex truly loves but has recently taken a break from.   Alex will be back on the podcast later this year to give an update on how he is getting on with his renewed love of running, and where he thinks the future of Ontario brewing might be headed.   Websites to visit: bullfrogpower.com steam whistle.ca we.org runtobeer.ca

Dare Greatly with Special Guest Mahmoud Samara

Days of moving up the company pay grade for 40 years until retirement are a distant memory. In today’s economy, the future is no longer promised on the first day of the job. The upside is that taking a chance and following a dream is just as valid as the once surer path towards successful entrepreneurship. On this week's episode of The Marie Bodine Podcast, Marie and Todd sit down to speak with Mahmoud Samara, Managing Director of Cadillac Canada.    Cadillac, a 114-year-old car brand, that is so iconic the very name itself has become a word used to measure great standards. However, for a while now, Cadillac has become associated as the car "only older people buy". Two empty nesters taking a sweet Cadillac ride along the California Coast, after a long day of antiquing. It was time for Cadillac to make a shift and Dare Greatly.   Mahmoud, one-quarter of the car’s age and one of the youngest executives, lead the rebranding of Cadillac towards the Millennial and Generation X market. A demographic of successful young (youngish) people with the coin to confidently slam down on the table and say, “I’ll take the red one over there”. Instead of creating a campaign with the usual boring details about impressive gas mileage and safety options, Mahmoud turned the message upside-down focusing on the importance of taking a chance on a dream. His Dare Greatly campaign echoed the radical shift the Cadillac line was taking. If you don’t believe me, check out the Cadillac Escala. One day, I will look very good in this car.    This bold, younger demographic are a pretty media savvy bunch. They aren’t going to be fooled by some slick instagram page of #good-looking-young-people-sitting-in-cadillacs, clogging up their feed. To reach them, is to be more like them. So Mahmoud rallied his troop of execs and managers of all shapes and ages to the top of Mt Washington, an 18 hour climb. And when they thought that this challenge had made them stronger in so many ways, he challenge them again. This time to a 1,400 KM bicycle trip from New York to Oshawa.    Listen to the future generation of entrepreneurs, as we ask Mamhoud’s kids Sam and Nilly, about their dreams that they’d like to accomplish.   dare.greatly.ca Twitter and Instagram @cadillaccanada

Is Getting Injured A Bad Thing?

It’s an intelligent approach to implement strategies to avoid injury when exercising. Most people assume they won’t get injured in life, so they don’t plan for injury. They couldn’t be more wrong.   This episode explores risk taking and why taking risks are a good thing. You can even learn a lot about yourself after an injury has occurred. Listen to Michael Alexander, a former basketball star, tell his story about his rise through the basketball ranks, and how injury during one of the most important games of his sporting career taught him a life lesson he still draws from today.
