In this episode we interview our friend and one of our mentors Brett Gereau of Advanced Pool Specialists. Advanced Pool Specialists is what Brett does now, but he has had quite the journey through the pool industry. He has been in the industry his entire adult life and is very passionate about it. One of the things Brett said that we admired is that he wants to leave the industry better then he found it. What a great way to look at the industry and life in general. We left the interview inspired as we normally do after speaking with Brett and we think you guys will as well. Brett had his own service business in California for several years. You have probably heard us speak about him multiple times on the podcast because he actually started a podcast of his own called Pool Business Academy several years ago. Unfortunately his podcast ended after 11 episodes, but it left us so pumped and we have looked up to him ever since. He also worked for Alan Smith Pools as a salesman and then worked heavily on their reverse osmosis division. All of that has led him to what he is doing today which is pool surfaces. In this episode we interview our favorite photographer Jimi Smith. Jimi has an amazing and unique story that he shares with us. From growing up in Georgia, to living on the island of St. Thomas, and many adventures such as working as a diver to even treasure hunting. His nomad lifestyle can be summed up by his Instagram bio which states God, Family, Photography, and Pools. He has shot photos for many of the top builders in the world and his photos have been featured in many articles and magazines. His photos have even been showcased on the cover of Luxury Pools magazine multiple times. It was an honor for us to have him in the studio. We are honored to have our last episode of the year be with Ledge Lounger founder and president Christopher Anderson. For the second year in a row, Ledge Lounger is ranked as one of the fastest growing private companies within the American economy. Ledge Lounger is an in-pool and outdoor furniture company that was founded in 2011. They are known for designing outdoor furniture and accessories, made out of high-quality materials that withstand the sun, weather, and chemicals of the outdoor and pool environments. In this episode we will discuss Chris being raised in Texas and growing up around the swimming pool industry with his father. Chris would graduate from LSU with a degree in Construction Management. After working and gaining experience with the Dallas Morning News and then working for a Nebraska based tech company as their Director of Business Development. He then made his way back to Houston to work and help with his fathers growing pool company Custom Design Pools. One day Chris was tasked with a project that would forever change his life. A customer that they were building a pool for needed a particular type of pool furniture that could handle the weather, no matter the price. After searching and contacting different resorts he found nothing. He would spend the next 2 1/2 years researching and developing what we know today as Ledge Lounger. In this episode we interview Greg Garrett. Greg is an expert in Water Chemistry and Pool Surfaces. In this reflection episode we have Kyle Auld join us since he was a huge part of our 3 man team while we were in Vegas.
