Today, we join Yay Bikes! http://www.yaybikes.com/ for their monthly tour of Columbus with a theme. This month the theme is American Heroes.

Today, we ride Bike The Drive 2016 http://bikethedrive.org/ We start at the northernmost point of a car-free Lake Shore Drive, the Bryn Mawr rest stop. After grabbing some free goodies, we get on our bikes and ride south, all the way to the southernmost point, the Museum of Science and Industry.

Today, we ride the Tour de H2O http://www.tourdeh2o.org/Pages/default.aspx I sort of forgot to record anything beyond the start of the ride, but it’s still worth posting. From the Tour de H2O website: The Tour de H2O is a grassroots effort with one goal: provide safe drinking water and sanitation to people in rural East Africa. A reliable source of clean water can go a long way to helping these communities break the cycle of poverty. If you are interested in supporting this worthy cause, head on over to their website and get involved.

That does make this a longer podcast than usual, but no description I could give would explain this event better than hearing it for yourself. Today, we take a ride on the Ohio to Erie Trail http://www.ohiotoerietrail.org/ It’s threatening rain, which means we have the trail pretty much to ourselves. With nobody around to worry about, we decide to chase a train. Soon we arrive at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, which happens to be hosting the Central Ohio Folk Music Festival this weekend. So we wander about for a bit, listening to the music. Unfortunately, a centrally-located tent has percussion instruments lying about for children to bang on. And children really love to bang on things that make loud noises. A short walk takes us back to the Ohio to Erie Trail and we follow it for a while, encountering hikers, birds, and mountain bikers. The rain is moving in and time is winding down. We take one more pass through the festival then head for home. Today, we run in the Capital City Half Marathon http://www.capitalcityhalfmarathon.com/ A sign a runner can always count on seeing held up by a spectator on the side of the road is “worst parade ever!” Well, what that non-runner might not appreciate is that an event such as this is like a parade, only the floats are stationary and we get to run the parade route. Today, we sit on a bench at Whetstone Park and listen to people pass by. A guy loses his bike reflector right in front of me. Long stretches of nothing, birds, and traffic on State Route 315.
